Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great stay overall

This was my second visit in this resort. Front desk staff are very helpful and professional. The landsacpe is very well maintained. Swimming pool, beach, and bars were clean and no complaints. The only issue was the cleaning the room. Housekeeping only chnage towles and not cleaning the whole room.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing resort

People at the resort were amazing. They were always asking if we were ok and if we needed anything. The food was ok. If I were to again and I would upgrade to eat at the level all the time. Amazing!!!!!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Wrong location

We have been assigned to a room located across the Avenue 1st. As we didn't expect this remote location, had to walk to the travel agency to be relocated to a new hotel. Then, be careful when doing your reservation that the room would be located in the main building near the ocean. The staff at main desk won't give the full information. We had lunch and it was okay. About the rooms located at Las Palmas, those are small, with small toilet, old TV and a simple shower, no elevator and the window [... read more] has a poor view to a park.

Blau Varadero: amazing hotel

Beach (and the Pool as well) is excellent, the Area very maintained and beautiful, Dining (Breakfast) Restaurant very good (the food is OK but can be better), Main Bar and Piano Bar as well very good, the Games very good too, everything great.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Not a five stars

Grounds well kept. Clean site. Upgraded to a privilege room for free since it was our 43rd weddind anniversary. Room big enough with bathtub and a separate rain shower. Most of the hand towels and bath towels are spotted with yellow spots ; really not appealing. And no booth to go change your beach towel ; the woman making your room is the one that will change them for you when she makes your room... You get only one bottle of water per day... Paint missing on headboard of the bed ; so not impre [... read more]ssive. Lots of ants at the entrance and the patio slab. We were unfortunately on groud level.The beach restaurant had excellent chicken and fish and fries. The a-la-carte italian and gourmet had very good beef ( amazing for Cuba ) spaghetti and chicken ; and the wine ( white and red ) were quite good. But the buffet had very poor variety for lunch and supper ; but the breakfast was good although there was no real fruit juices available, only yogourt juices...Magnificient beach and cristal clear water. Lots of chairs but some need to be replaced ; many palapas but they are too small to protect two people at a time.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great family holiday

Grounds well maintained, food reasonably good for Cuba. Rooms need a little tlc. Staff very friendly. Beach beautiful, pools great. Would definitely go back to this resort. Great activities on beach, kayaking, paddle boat free, snorkel trip available for 20 cuc. Hair braiding for ladies available, shows good, needs more music at night,

Palma Real: Lovely place

Awesome place ,3rd time there ...good price, alot of down to earth people stay there..super close to the down town area (Beatles club, Calle 62, Havana Club) Food could be a bit better as in more variety Lobby bar closed at 12 which was kind of a bummer Entertainment was great Also swim up bar was closed ,but that was stated before we booked

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Loved the Sanctuary Grand Memories.

We were 4 ladies of varied ages. Two in our sixties and two in their forties. This was my first time at an adults only resort and everything was so nice right from the moment we arrived. Special treatment and a tour of the resort showing the restaurants and facilities was a great way to be welcomed. Nice touch. We enjoyed an excursion to Havana in an old car with a guide. Fascinating day. The rooms were spotless and large and the grounds were immaculately kept. Beautiful pool and the beach was l [... read more]ovely and free of any seaweed. Lots of chairs at both. The al a carte restaurants were all very good and the lounge bars were a great place to socialize. The nightly entertainment was extremely good in the theatre and other areas. The beach was just a 3 minute walk from the rooms. I am definitely using Sunwing again as this was a vacation without any issues at all and I plan on returning this year to the Sanctuary with my family. Muthu Playa Varadero: Lovely Resort

The resort was very well kept. All the staff were very friendly and most of them spoke very well English. Pool was beautiful and warm. We would recommend to anyone. It was their low time so it was nice to not have a lot of people there. The beach was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Can't wait to go back.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: beautiful resort

we were there for the wedding, the resort is very nice. I think some of the staff are not so nice. there is one guy in the beach area where he has coconut with him for the guest. but he is asking really for a fee, he said coconut is not for free I need tip. For me tip is fine but it should be given voluntarily for your extra ordinary service. For me it is fine, if its not free, put a tag price on it, so guest will not expect it to be free. other than that I think everything is okay..

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: amazing resort

The grounds are fantastic, all activities (yoga, aqua gym etc) are great as well. Sandals use to have better perks such as room service and breakfast wish list. Sandals appreciated the return quests and this is not the case with Royalton, you guys don't care if we were there 8 times. We used to get a free upgrade to the concierge package after only 3 times of being at this resort.

Brisas Del Caribe: Our Second Home!!!

.We vacationed at the Brisas Del Caribe from April 3 to April 13. Timing was spot on! The resort was not crowded and the weather was beautiful. Arriving at the Brisas, my family of 6 was greeted like family. This was our 4th time at this resort and we look forward to coming back every year!!! Kenia at the reception greeted us with a smile and worked hard to accommodate our needs eventhough she was being pulled in all directions. Kudos to the whole reception team for keeping their cool! They worked hard all day and yet still had a smile for everyone. The food at Brisas has improved greatly. We were pleased with the addition of the fresh seafood grill station. Thank you to...Yilan, Juniel, Yasiel, Luli, Janelle, Yordanka, Alberto and Braulio who took such good care of us! I still have the tissue paper roses Juniel made for me;) Also..Jorge..aka The Egg Guy was one of the reasons why we got up so early every morning. Who can resist his smile and his singing! He remembered the way we liked our eggs which is impressive considering how many people come through his line!!! Angel (Caleta) your smile lights up the room! Tony at the Caleta...your paella reigns supreme!!! The beach was postcard perfect!!! Thank you George and Gilbert for looking after us! And I cannot forget to mention the lifeguards.. Haber and his team were the simply the best!!! My 5 yr old was not shy to amble over and have his daily "chit chats" with them! It was priceless!!! Yosbel...thank you for keeping an eye on my kids..whether they were on the beach or getting a lemonade. The Café Taino makes the best hamburgers and Antonio the bartender is akin to the friendly giant! Second floor rooms are the best as they are close to everything without having to climb stair. Our maid Lily left us the most amazing towel creations. A big Hello to Lidia and Ariadna our maids from previous stays. Nightly entertainment was done with a Cuban flair. Nothing super fancy but really enjoyable. Children's entertainment was well run. My kids really enjoyed the magic show and the action songs..I've never seen such huge grins on their faces!!! The Brisas Del Caribe is truly a Cuban experience! It is the best resort if you are looking for something down to earth and relaxed. It is most definitely a family resort that embraces everyone and creates a sense of family. As I am writing this, I am flooded with memories of all the new friends we have made there. I cannot wait to book our next vacation back at the Brisas!!! Look for us in April 2018!!!!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa ..... falling behind 'Sandals' friendly service and perks

Royalton, as the resort goes under now, from Sandals, has lost it's friendlier service and perks for those who have been loyal to the resort over the years, including under the Sandals brand. The service under Sandals was much better. Many former staff are no longer with the resort. Royalton has severed the 'conceige service' that used to be under Sandals, and decided to take advantage of this for revenue reasons, and renamed it 'Diamond Club'. There is no value under 'Diamond Club' sub-brand. I [... read more]t's nothing more than smoke and mirrors to get more money from the uninformed customer. Royalton has also instituted a service called 'butler service' which is nothing more than having someone 'book' your a-la-carte restaurants - which was not a inconvenience under the Sandals brand - as a matter of fact, it was a lot easier - now you end up going back and forth with butler staff - which is a waste of time. Also, your butler is always 'hanging' around where your room is located asking you 'is everything ok'. Then when you ask them to do something for you, you have to follow up. This 'butler service' is for the birds. Don't get me wrong, those who are residing as 'butlers', for the majority of them, are kind and nice people. But what resort has a 'butler service' in a country where no butler service even exists. I don't have a 'butler' at home, so I'm more than capable of not having one for 1 or 2 weeks on vacation. Sandals needs to come back to Cuba.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Amazing Resort - Great Food

The 18+ Sanctuary Section of the Grand Memories was Fantastic. The restaurant allows for sit down breakfast, lunch and dinner which is made to order by the chef in the kitchen. You also have full acdess to the Grand Memories Resort and their buffet and a la carte restaurants. I went to the Japanese which was good. I would rather eat at the Sanctuary Restaurant that had Lobster / Steak and Mashed Potatoes / Chicken / Pork / Cuban Lunch / Calamari / Ice cream. Very good. Rooms had bathtub an [... read more]d separate stand up shower. 3 Levels but there is no elevator (all stairs). Bring mosquito repellent as they bite a lot at night on your legs during the show. The entertainment was amazing. Magic Show / Michael Jackson / Cuban etc. Internet is $2 CUC an hour. Do not change your Canadian money to US, there is a bank that will give you $70.00 for $100.00 (May long weekend stay 2017). Electrical outlets will charge your phone with no need to bring convertor. Free sail boat to the ocean for snorkling - Lots of water games, Yoga, Dance Lessons on beach during day

Starfish Jibacoa: Relaxing Paradise

The place: the bugalows/ location has been renovated so its even better than last time i had been. As usual everything was clean and smeeled of peace and paradise. The food: i was positively surprised that it had greatly improved. The buffet was good and more varied than usual, there was even seafoods someday at the buffet. Melia Varadero: Friendly Staff

Was impressed by this hotel as everything was as expected or higher than expected. Everyone we met was very friendly. The beach was amazing and we often did snorkelling right off the shore line. Great resort.

Club Kawama: fair

we liked the location, the people that work for the resort are very friendly. The food was fair, but the desert table was great, Was a little disappointed about our room, especially the beds. My bed had a dip in the bottom have of the bed, and they did not do anything about it. so that was a little uncomfortable., also the cleaning of our room. We did find that the people at the front desk were not honest especially with the exchange of money. It happened to us but also to many other people.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful grounds, Clean resort

This hotel was beautiful, grounds superb. Resort spotless, so clean. Amazing staff. Everyone did an amazing job at most levels. Cuban people are just lovely. First contact though, was bad, not a smile and no glass of welcome champagne, just a key. Female reception staff need sacked. Never smiled. Male reception staff were very polite and did smile. As a manager myself I noticed first contact was so incredibly poor and the same continued for 5 days Room: Block 6 Phone did not work,  [... read more]coffee maker broken, shower broke on 2nd last day, bed was damp, sheets felt wet. Slept on top of bed for 5 nights with a little blanket. Not what expected of a five star hotel :) Rather funny really. Just had to laugh. Cause no one in the hotel management cared!! Very noticeable that hotel management were absent, invisible, unlike other resorts I have been to. So disappointed. Melia management really need to get their act together. Its not the workers fault. This is my 9th visit to Cuba so I have been in many hotels in Varadero, Cayo Coco and Santa Maria.

Starfish Varadero: Quite dissapointed

This is my first visit to Varadero. At first loo the place seems to be nice and friendly. Staff was friendly and seriving (at taking your complaints and requests) but did not take action to fix anything. I am guessing that is because they have new owners and management (priorities have to be set) Upon arrival my name was not in the guess list therefore they have to give me a double bedroom on the 3rd Floor at the Main Hotel (Which was about 3 blocks from the beach - We have our mom with a wal [... read more]ker she could not take the stroll that far). They provided us with a wheelchair, unfortunately the venues are made of brick and the premises we found out are not accessible friendly (lots of broken bricks and kind of construction in progress). There are 2 elevators and only 1 was working (the smallest of the two) which barely fitted 3 people and a walker. Premises were somewhat clean but the toilette in my room was not working and I have to take the lid out every time to flush the toilette. Hot water came between 5 to 6 minutes after have your shower running (just lukewarm though). After meeting with our Sunwing representative we were moved to a Bungalow the fitted all 3 of us and was closer to the beach (that was great but it came with a price tag - they gave us the bungalow 3 days pay full fee and 3 days free stay). The toilette was running day and night and the push button was completely corroded so there is a kind of cork on top of the lid and hold down a string (so you can flush it). The buffet room (restaurant - pavilion) what ever you want to call it was roomy but we never so it even at full capacity and I tell you why. None of the food displays was cover and for that reason you have flies on every single display (and mean flies (just 1 day they have plastic covering the salads - which was absolutely great). Hot courses were either just warmed or completely cold. They did not have coffee or tea at dinner time. They told us that it was just allowed for breakfast. 3 days before we left I was closing the shower curtain and the rod came thumbeling down. I brought the pieces to the front desk. Needles to say we left back to Canada and they have not replace the rod. Instead they remove the shower curtain from the premises I think the only thing I was enjoying really was the presentations at night time. I did go to the Disco but the Dancer and presentor at the "cabaret Las Palmas" were absolutely amazing - awesome. On Cuban day they have a downpour that left all the dishes (Food) tables and everything they have work so hard to set completely overflow. Absolutely no attempt to cover anything. Bread was mushed, salads were overflowing with rain, every warm dish was completely water up. When bring the actual dishes and glasses back into the Food Buffett building they broke some glasses on a couple of venues and never made an attempt to pick up the broken glass. (we did have children and adults with no shoes or just thin sandals. I am sincerely disappointed because the price you pay is not really cheap. The beach was amazing and clean. Hotel Los Cactus: Amazing resort!!

Everything was taken care of.. the most smooth going trip i have ever had! Great place. Great beach. Great staff and moat important amazing coffee!!! Rooms were very spacious and clean. The pools and Jacuzzis were great way to meet new friends. I give this resort 2 thumbs up!
