Occidental Punta Cana: A wonderful place to visit

Very clean and modern resort. The food was very good at the buffets and the la cartes. Service was good . The beach front the best on the beach. The crews usually had it cleaned before six in the morning. Only bad thing was the smokers.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect for Adults!

The grounds of this resort are meticulously kept. Even the beach is groomed all day long. The services were very accommodating. Our room was lovely. We did ask for ocean view and did not get it. As we explored the resort, we realized that there were not many (if any) rooms that were ocean view. Our room was 2nd floor with a king bed, lovely shower, deep whirlpool tub, working safe, working fridge. Our only complaint was that our balcony faced some sort of generator or compressor behind a  [... read more]store which made a constant loud noise. We decided to let it go since our room was so lovely and we did not spend much time on the balcony. This resort is part of a huge resort. We did wander into the larger areas but we did not need to. In Ambar Blue, a lobby, buffet, a la carte restaurants, pool, beach and shops are all within the Ambar Blue and an easy walking distance. Our maid/butler service was wonderful. Food was great at the Brazilian Steakhouse. It was mostly good at buffet and beach BBQ. The staff were friendly and polite and helpful. An invitation was slipped under our door to attend a "privilege club" meeting. We were sure this was the "time-share" meeting. We did not go and no one else mentioned a time-share or bothered us to go to a meeting the entire week. A very classy way to do it. Pool was clean and had everything nearby (washrooms, food, small shop, beach). Plenty of beach/pool chairs. We loved this resort and the low-key adult vibe. Shows got a little crazy sometimes in the evening but all in fun! We would definitely return to Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue.

Grand Palladium Palace: Grand Palladium Palace- wonderful hotel

The hotel is beautiful. The grounds keepers maintained everything exceptioning well. Very pretty to the eye! Bavaria beach is awesome. We walked on the beach for miles. The sand is fine and white. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The Dominicans were very accommodating and friendly. They all aimed to please. This was our fourth time to this same resort and was not disappointed!

IFA Bavaro Village: Fantastic place

The hotel was beautiful, the grounds were very well kept, the rooms need a lot of improvement, there were no bath towels in the room I took a shower and had to dry myself with the bath mat, In the two weeks we were there they change the towels twice, the glasses were never replaced, the bed creeked every time you turned. we cleaned the table there was a rubber stuck in the middle so if we played cards it would get stuck. the beach was beautiful, but there was a deisal fumes that was very irrit [... read more]ating wheather it was from the the construction or the boats you couldn't tell. there were no bathrooms close to the bars, wifi was free only if you paid 40.00 dollars for the password.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great value

Very clean , food was very good , beach nice but water was churning so brownish . Lots of seaweed on beach . Pools were nice and well kept . A la carte restaurants really nice and excellent service . Activities during the day and night shows as well .

Paradisus Punta Cana: 3 star hotel with the potential to become 5 star

Paradisus Punta Cana presents itself beautifully. The grounds are spectacular and their eco-friendly setting is magnificent. Everything is spotless. The staff are very friendly and helpful although at times the lack of proficient English made it difficult to communicate our needs. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best and far too often only lukewarm. On one occasion the breakfast buffet was so cold that it was impossible to eat. The Royal Service section was the only exception where [... read more] the service and food was impeccable. As well, the buffet was very limited in its choices. On three nights around 2:00 am there were very rowdy and loud guests on the grounds which the staff did nothing to stop. We loved the pool and were impressed by how hard the staff worked to make the guests welcome. We were disappointed in our room as it looked nothing like the advertised pictures. The maids never noticed when we were out of toilet paper and kleenex and had no face clothes so I had to go looking for somebody to get them for us. The public areas were beautiful but the suites are in bad need of a facelift. The walkways were poorly lit at night with uneven and cracked flagstone which were very dangerous and scary to navigate in the darkness. We feel that the hotel is over rated as a 4.5 but with some tweaking could merit the rating that they claim. It is well suited to a younger crowd and is ideal for families. Unless you are lucky enough to get a room near the pool, you had to walk a long way to get to the pool and restaurants. We will not return to this resort.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Great resort

Very impressive clean well maintained grounds.Rooms very adequate and housekeeping up to snuff.Restaurants clean,food good and most noticable excellent staff interactions.Would definitely recommend.😁🌴

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Been here twice and will be returning

This hotel is great we were upgraded for free to pool view room for being a returning traveller . We opted to pay another $300 upon arrival to upgrade to preferred . The front desk told us if we return again the room and preferred upgrade will be free . We were located in room 1156 . Outside our door was our private check-in/out as well as our own private preferred bar with all premium drinks . Pools were very clean . Beach was well maintained and spacious . Restaurants were very good and buffet [... read more] was good as well . This is our favorite resort in punta cana and we will definitely be returning !

Riu Republica: This Hotel should have rating 3 Stars

I was there with my 2 sons, booked 2 rooms. 1st my room phone did not work. I complained for 3 consecutive days and finally on day 3, I was told that it is not fixable and they moved me to a different room, this time closer to my sons, however it was not Garden View as requested and payed for. When in this the phone was working, however Shower was not as well as Hair Dryer was not and the room safe was locked. I advised the reception and the Shower and Hair Dryer were then fixed but the safe in  [... read more]the room NOT. It was not corrected during my entire stay, I had a huge concern about my valuables as I needed to take them with me everywhere. I was not able to enjoy the pool or the ocean as I was continually concerned about my valuables and therefore confined to my pool or beach chair. Food was OK as well as service in the restaurants, however only local wine and extremely limited international liquors .... most liguors mentioned on their menu were not available during my entire stay. NO I would not recommend this resort for anyone seeking 4 or 5 star accommodations. On the positive .... relatively new hotel with lots of choices for dinning.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Wonderful vacation

Having never been to the Dominican Republic before, we initially found this resort to be a little tired and in need of some TLC. Having said that, after taking some long leisurely strolls down the beautiful beach, we found it to be one of the nicest in the area. Restaurants on site were a bit hit-and-miss. We read glowing reviews of the Italian restaurant on the Now Garden property but we were very disappointed with the food and the service. The French restaurant was amazing, food and service. The Hibachi Grill was well worth having to get a reservation for. The Mexican restaurant was also very good and the main buffet offered a large assortment of amazing foods. We only ate breakfast there. Everything was within a short stroll of our room including the beach which I can't say enough about it. We did notice on our many walks that the beach at this resort was absolutely one of the best as far as size and huts providing shade. We upgraded to preferred status and took advantage of the excellent beach bar service as well as Castaways Restaurant/Bar. It was very well located to the beach and pool areas. Weather was perfect which was a real bonus!

IFA Villas Bavaro Beach Resorts: Good Resort

We work in the hotel business so I know a little on what to expect. We enjoyed the IFA Villas Bavaro during the week of January 20th, 2018. Our rooms where well taken care of by Maria in the main pool, which we nicknamed the Loud Side. She changed our towels daily, cleaned our room and left us water when asked. The resort grounds where spotless, not a speck of garbage to be seen, a few cups here and there but they where quickly picked up. The quiet pool was quiet nice and not very busy. I am picky so I pretty much had the same thing daily, but there was a lot to choose from, BUT it was never different. We did eat at two of the specialty restaurants that where good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the bedrooms, pool area and the restaurants where very clean and comfy! Only issue I saw was a little mold in the shower area. We did go to the beach one morning but we are more pool people. The only thing regarding the Loud pool is it needed a paint job and handles for those that have trouble walking or the elderly and the quiet pool needed handles also. The only thing that caught my eye as soon as we got off the bus was the staff did not connect with people. This is the first resort that we have ever been to and yes we have been to a few that the staff where like robots, there just to get their pay and not interact with the guests. It was very odd as there was tons of staff around. I feel that if the resort management is to work on the friendliness of the staff, as a genuine smile and OLA goes a long way. As for the food, you make due....oh the booze was a plenty!!!

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great resort!

Hotel grounds are beautiful Beach is good, although there were some seaweeds, but they were removed in timely manner by the hotel personal Food is delicious and drinks are awesome Room are clean and large I would definitely recommend this hotel

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Excellent Resort

We loved it I did not realize that small bugs bite so if you are susceptible to bites make sure you take bug spray with deet the hotel was great food was amazing the resort and service is 5 star we will be there going back for sure

Tropical Deluxe Princess: nice resort

Room were nice had a 2 bedroom but only one toliet worked. Even when we left a note no one repaired it, just took the plugger to it. Not a big issue. Was there to relax and that we did. Grounds were very nice. Food good. Enjoyed the activities. I would go again

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Fantastic vacation

Beautiful resort and wonderful people. The beach was breath taking and the food was excellent. Staff took care of all of our needs with a smile. Room we booked was low so requested a room higher up, without a problem we were given a beautiful roogm with a beach view the same day we arrived. We also met two wonderful people Yolanda and Henry, who gave us a seat at the French restaurant that you must pay for, for free, due to a power outage. Overall our stay was fantastic! Tropical Deluxe Princess: would go back in a heartbeat

We have fallen in love with this resort! everything was perfect! This was our first time at this resort, we always stay at Grand Palladium so when we came to this resort we were blown away staff were amazing its a smaller resort than what we are use too, but we were so sad to leave we are coming back next year! Jenn Black our agent is amazing you worked your magic to give us what we were looking for! You rock!!! Tripcentral is the best!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Resort was OKAY

The hotel overall was just okay. We were fortunate enough to have been upgraded to VIP which is the main reason that I would rate this as OK. The main/central pool is FILTHY, luckily we had the VIP pool to use aswell but our group is very social and enjoy the main pool to meet people. The VIP pool and beach areas are very quiet. Also, because we were VIP we thankfully were able to go to 6 a la carte restaurants and to the buffet once. The a la cartes were descent but the main buffet was your ty [... read more]pical rat race. The staff that look after the VIP personnel were FANTASTIC, we were whisked away as soon as we stepped foot on the resort. The resort was clean, staff were friendly. All in all the only way I would recommend this resort to anyone else would be if they upgraded to VIP. Main complaint was the dirty dirty pool and main buffet and the a la cartes were ok.

Sensatori Resort Punta Cana: Great, clean resort!

It was very clean and well maintained, only complaint was we had booked a room with two beds and only had one. Since I was going with a friend this was inconvenient but we managed with king bed. I would have booked elsewhere if this had been known before trip.

Riu Republica: Solid 4.5 star resort

The RIU is very large, I understand more than 1300 rooms. Pros -New resort - everything is fresh and new and works, Rooms are clean and bright -Food was very good -Gardens are well kept -Staff were friendly -Hotel manager was very helpful when we ran into problems - Resort and beach were kept clean and bright Cons -Hard to get away from the noise between 9 and 11 pm - we were originally at the back of the hotel (new section) by the sound stage. If you are not a late nighter you will not [... read more] be sleeping if anywhere near either of the resorts stages. Management changed our room and moved us nearer the front of the resort - much better. - The Beach is seriously crowded. I expect when they added the new section the overcrowding began. wall to wall chairs. If you walk down the beach the resort stands out because of the open expanses of beach at all the other resorts except at the RIU which is noticeably congested. - There does not seem to be a reef protecting the beach at the resort. It as very rough all week. We like wave hopping but this was extreme. First few days waves were at times in excess of 10 feet in waist deep water. We were tumbled repeatedly and quite violently. Also there is an undertow. We witnessed one rescue of a swimmer that was swept out to the buoy line. It was a close call. The rescue team and life guards did a good job bringing them back from the brink. The swimmer was on his back for about a half hour. - Very few bathrooms near the beach and pools. We did not go into the very, large, busy, and crowded swim up bar pools (3). Given the lack of bathrooms we ended up calling them the Pee Pools. They shock them at night and they turn a milky colour. Not nice. - Very slow service in the steak house - the only restaurant we tried. 2 hours for the meal with an hour between appetizers and main course. It is overcrowded and understaffed. - I like the architecture of many of the resorts we have visited over the years. Did not find it here. Everything is block concrete construction and identical throughout and all painted white. Very bright but drab. Has a bit of a soviet block mass housing look. - We would not go back because of the over crowding and noise. If those things don't bother you will like the resort - expect 4.5 star service. - -

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Nice grounds and beautiful updated buildings.

Positive: Beautiful grounds and nice updated rooms. Lots of beach lounges, no wrist bands which is nice, entertainment was good, check in was fast and easy, Negative: High pressure sales tactics for this Endless Vacation crap which they claim is not a timeshare, but it is basically a timeshare. Food is not great, keeps you alive but it's not great, I expected better. Both my wife and myself got sick with a travelers diarrhea and ended up at the clinic, we spoke with lots of other gues [... read more]ts who had also gotten sick. One guest was so sick he went home 2 days early. You really have to watch what you eat at this resort.
