Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort but...

I have been to several 4 or 5 star resorts and this one was one of the bests in term of quality of amenities, cleanliness, friendly staff, convenience, attention to details and such. I recommend the resort to my friends for sure. However there were two issues that I didn’t like. First was the reservation problem; when we arrived at the resort at 11pm after hours of traveling to check in, they said they don’t have any room available!!! They were going to send us to another resort for the nig [... read more]ht (20 minues from the resort) and ask us to come back the next day to check in!! But after they saw us resisting to leave, all of a sudden they found a room available in the resort and they said it’s because there was a cancellation, we can give it to you now!!! The second issue was the quality of the beach... I was excepting to see a torquise blue beach but what we had was a beach full of seaweeds... which made us spend the whole time by their pools. Other than these two issues, I truly enjoyed my time in that resort.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Absolutely breathtaking resort!!

The service was great....right from the bus that brought us to the resort from the airport, to the check in, to the food,to the amenities....everything was top grade. Personally, I do have a problem with the language differences. It is my opinion that since Barcello has so many English speaking guests, they should put more effort and attention to teaching their staff to speak that language. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Best One Yet

First time at Azul Fives in Maya Riveria. Initially not sure about the layout as it is large, but fantastic. Grounds were very well kept and clean. Large forest area throughout that let the monkeys roam at will. This resort caters to the wildlife as well as the guest, nice touch. Food was outstanding and the best we have had in our multiple trips through out Mexico. No restrictions on ala carte restaurants and only needed to make reservations at 2 of the 6. Gourmet Food in all areas and tasty. [... read more] Service was excellent and all were very friendly and greeted with genuine pleasure. Only exception was the bartenders around the beach, not very accommodating to guest at the bar. I believe it was because they were understaffed and trying to meet everyone's needs. Beach was excellent well cared for, other pools (all throughout) were nice but too cold to get into. The adult pool was the exception as it was heated and nice and quiet. Thanks to all the staff

Royal Hideaway Playacar: Wonderful vacation

We were at the Royal Hideaway for 11 days and loved the resort. The weather wasn't on our side that week but it made no difference to our enjoyment. The staff were amazing. We were treated royally by everyone. We had a luxury room and it was very comfortable with all our needs met. Especially loved our patio that we could retreat to at the end of the day. The a la carte was first class. Loved all the restaurants. The grill was my least favourite, however still good but we didn't repeat.  [... read more] There was some renovations going on at the resort at the time of our stay which is to be expected I suppose, however the inconvenience was short lived. A suggestion to the resort - bring the Mexican buffet back on the Thursday fiesta event at the Club Royal. Most people we spoke to said it was fabulous and better than the a la carte fixed menu. We will definitely be returning. First class resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great resort

Very good value....only complaint would be the rooms....very large but lack of closet and storage space and poor lighting. Staff, service, food, entertainment drinks etc were all top notch. Although not on the beach, regular transportation is provided to an adults only section. Only about a 10 minute ride

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Very noisy room

We stayed in building 8. At end on ground floor, by the stairwell and elevator. It was noisy from 8 am until 5 from staff and carts with virtually no break in the noise level. Combined with coming and going by guests, not at all restful. It was the worst hotel room I’ve ever had. The grounds are extensive, walking to beach, main buffet and bar average step count was 10,000 a day. The nightly entertainment was poor other than circus night. Grand Palladium Kantenah: 5th trip to Grand Palladium Kantenah and still loving it!

Very clean resort. Staff are friendly and helpful. Activities are fun, and overall the food and drinks are excellent. Been here 5 times and still loving it! Here are some key differences from last year: First the BAD. 1. The resort complex is made up of 5 hotels. One of which is TRS - The Royal Suites. It appears that TRS is the big focus now as they have taken one of the 4 other hotels and merged it into TRS. What this means is that unless you stay at TRS (Adults only) you no l [... read more]onger have access to the Saltwater pool. This was a disappointment to my kids as we usually snorkel in that pool as there are lots of fish to see and it's a safe environment. 2. Steak House - El Dorado Overall the food was decent, but our waiter messed up about half the orders and some of the steaks weren't cooked as per the order. 3. Service at Grand Azul - They seem to be under-staffed at the Grand Azul, as the service can be quite slow. It's an outdoor buffet, so the only service required is drink orders and table clearing. Prompt table clearing is important as the animals will come into the seating area to pick food from the plates if they are not cleared away. Need more staff here at lunch time! 4. Umbrellas in the room! - It rained a few times while we were there and it would have been nice if there was a courtesy umbrella in the room. 5. Beach Bar table service was a bit slow. 6. Breakfast Buffet - Always seemed to be a shortage of ketchup for some reason. Now the GOOD 1. They expanded the beach bar which now has more seating. 2. Breakfast buffets are still absolutely amazing...everything you could want. 3. Hector from La Hacienda provided wonderful service at dinner. 4. New ping pong tables are top notch and the central location is also better than under the trees. 5. Big Chess is back!!! Thank you!! My kids and I LOVE the big chess board and pieces, and given that it was always being used, I guess lots of other people do as well! 6. Daniel (bartender) at the beach bar was excellent. 7. Alberto who delivered drinks by the pool near the Grand Azul was excellent and always stopped to ask if we wanted drinks and never messed up a single order! 8. The Animacion team are fantastic, specifically Axel, Alexia, Alejandro and Brandon 9. They implemented TV screens in the lobby that shows the GPS location of the inter-lobby trains....very cool as you can now see how long you need to wait, and can make an informed decision to walk if you prefer! 10. At O'Pavao restaurant Lorenzo, Alberto and Federico provided Excellent service. Although the cuts of meat were sometimes chewy. 11. New Buffet: La Dahlia: This was going to be a negative point originally, as they removed the giant Kabah buffet and replaced it with this smaller one. But it is fantastic! Service was excellent, food was amazing, and the decor was just great. Loved this place! Froylan gave us excellent service there as well! 12. The Animacion team would walk around with large sign boards explaining what activity was happening and when. This is a great idea! Very easy to see what's going on. 13. Casino night was so much fun!! Well done whoever dreamed that up! You need more tables and chips for next year! 14. Portofino Restaurant - Being of Italian descent, I was skeptical about this place but my wife wanted to go. I thought the food overall was very good, and Basilio provided great service! One tip for the chef...the centre of my ravioli was cold....make sure you let them heat through properly! 15. Lots of live music all over the resort. Very nice touch. 16. There were "Pop up" bars making specialty drinks in the White Sands resort which was a very nice touch and allowed you to try something you might not have otherwise considered. Great idea!! 17. Don Julio Reposado - Excellent Tequila. Thank you for stocking this wonderful spirit! Overall we were extremely happy with our choice and would likely go back again!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Perfect week and wedding

We stayed here for a week and were married here. This resort is beautiful, the rooms are so clean and big and jacuzzi fit 3 comfortably(emerald jacuzzi suit)the food is delicious and fresh, the staff is amazing and so accommodating! I would definitely go back. As for our wedding, it was perfect and they went above and beyond for it. It was a dream come true wedding. Thank you BlueBay Grand Esmeralda!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives Resort, Riviera Maya

Just got back from a weeks stay at this hotel and had a very good week. The hotel itself is beautiful with luxurious suites and many pools and a infinity pool overlooking the sand beach and ocean. The people who work here are very pleasant everywhere on the resort. The restaurants were excellent; having many to choose from like Mexican, Italian, French, Thai, Sushi and beautiful buffet breakfasts in a restaurant called Flavors. Had a massage and facial done at the Vassar Spa which was on [... read more]e of the best massages I have ever had. The therapists name I had was Luis and I would highly recommend him. On the down side we had to change room after two days because the unit above us was remodeling and jackhammering which was extremely noisy. Also, we had paint on our bathing suits from splatters from the above renovation. That being said; overall we would return here but would make sure the room we get the next time would not be having anything happening above it. I would like to say that Rick from tripcentral did an excellent job for us arranging this trip.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Reasonable value

Mixed reviews for this property: This resort itself was lovely despite having a beach that is not. The staff was extremely helpful and we were grateful for the special touches they provided for our anniversary. Sunwing did promote a warm welcome with a cool towel and a glass of sparkling wine which we did not get. Azul bills itself as a gourmet all inclusive yet the only true gourmet experience is at Le Chique which has a hefty surcharge given what has already been paid for a so called all inclu [... read more]sive. Many other things incurred a surcharge too and the wine list prices were extremely high. On several occasions we were told something was unavailable only to find out it was. (Specific example would be to be told there was no red wine at Sunday night dinner or no cappuccino early in the morning only to move one bar or restaurant over and find it available...) That being said, food was presented nicely and service was generally good. All in all, the property represents reasonable value but cannot be considered a gourmet experience or a 4-5 star hotel.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good Resort

Service was great..everyone was so friendly and helpful, pools were nice..bar tenders were fast and very friendly , ocean wasn't the greatest..lots of rocks but the view was great! Food was average..breakfast buffet was great, rooms were nice, well kept!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Perfect

Check in, the food, the room, the drinks, the beach, housekeeping, the entertainment crew, all of it was perfect. The resort was well kept and I felt safe walking around. There was plenty to do to keep me busy.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Palladium Kantenah/Colonial Relaxing

We requested a resort with good food, beach and entertainment. Grand Palladium is truly grand meaning it’s huge. I knew it was going to be a large complex but was not prepared how big. Upon arrival we where greeted with a refreshment and checked in. We decided to switch hotels from the Kantenah to the Colonial. We switch because the Colonial was more central and close to the nightly entertainment. The grounds and public area where very clean and well maintained. Staff was very friendly [... read more]. Room was a good size. The beds where extremely soft and a little uncomfortable for our liking. Dinning rooms where very well decorated. Staff very tentative. A La Carte restaurants where good. No reservation was required but we did have to wait for 20 min to get a table. We mostly ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet. Unfortunately, we noticed that the food was the same everyday. The selection did not rotate much. Also, we found that the food at the buffet was cold. I was expecting the food to be much better. We found it was equal to the food we had in the Dominican Republic last year. We booked “Room Deluxe Imperial Club”. We don’t remember what we where suppose to get with that. We did receive the $1250 coupon book but the deals where better at each location. For example: the coupon book had a $30 coupon at the spa. We received half price from a spa representative on the beach. We did get a bottle of sparking wine in our room. It was fun to see the pink flamingos in the lobby and the crocodile cage. Lots of iguanas and weasel like animals in the mangroves. Unfortunately, mother nature did not provide sunshine but that was no fault of the resort. It was very cloudy and cold the week we where there. Had a little sunshine on our last day. We would not go back to this hotel.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Spa

Exceeded all my expectations, not sure I would ever try another resort because it wouldn't compare! Beautiful resort ,excellent food, drinks & staff, enjoyed yoga with Hiram and spinning with Christopher.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Love the Valentin Imperial Maya:)

We stayed at the VIM for our 3rd time from Jan 19-26,2018. We had our honeymoon here in 2012 and still love it! The property is huge and well maintained..gives the feeling of not being full or crowded even if fully booked. The staff are fantastic and we've never had problems with poor/rude service. We spent time at the quiet pool as well as the beach..both are great! The beach is beautiful sand and swimming is awesome. The food and restaurants are one of the best things about this resort...even  [... read more]though you don't leave the resort it feels like you're getting dressed up and "going out":) If you're looking for an anniversary or honeymoon vacation..without kids..this is one of the best places to go! The basics suites are really nice (building 3 & 4 are great locations) and we upgraded to quiet pool swim up suite this time...we loved it!! (building 8). Pretty close ( 25 mins) from Cancun airport as well which is a bonus.

Riu Playacar: could not of picked a better place for our 2nd anniversary

The room was spacious, the food unbelievable, the staff so courteous, the facilities exemplary. The site was very clean. Mini bar refilled with more water and soda than we could consume. I'm so glad we went to the Riu Playacar and will never forget this trip.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Awesome!!!

We just returned from the Barcelo Maya Colonial resort and had an amazing week. The rooms are very clean, the food is wonderful and the pool area is huge. There is a wonderful kids pool as well. The beach is beautiful and although rocky in spots, you can find areas that are not rocky. You can also snorkel right from the beach. You also NEVER have to fight for a lounge chair at the beach or the pool which is so nice. The staff is lovely and helpful and the amenities are good. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Cancun: one of our favorite resorts

The grounds were clean and well groomed, the pool was clean and the rooms spacious. The food was not the best we have had, but the people made up for that. All of the employees are so friendly. They could not do more for you. The beach is not great as the seaweed is thick, but they are working at keeping it as clean as possible all day long. I gave pool/beach a five star because the pool was fantastic.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Fantastic!

It was my first time to a destination wedding and it was a wonderful experience. The resort was beautiful, spotless and the food was great. The wedding was beautifully organized, the wedding planner made sure that all of the guests were taken care of. I highly recommend this resort and would go back in a minute.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Mostly up to expectation

The beach was not usable, full of seawed.The water activities advertised, were non-existant. The resort was isolated,surrounded by swamp (they called it a "mangrove").Very long , narrow driveway to the entrance.(maybe a mile). Although the general design was interesting and elegant "open concept", the workmanship was poor. Food and .Service good..10 differnt restaurants to choose from, All but one, excellent. Will be niosy in the future. If you choose a room overlooking the "mangrove" expect an ugly view and odor of sewers. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
