Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Declining over past few years

Resort is very nice however over the last few years quality of care has been declining. Rooms are not cleaned in a timely manner. Maybe not enough staff 7am to 4pm out of room and room still not clean. Roaches last year and this year in room. Turn down service on twice in 12 day stay. No umbrella in room requested one 4 times before getting one. Slow in getting drinks at Buffett Plates pile up on tables at buffet. Caribe Deluxe Princess: Amazing Resort, great for families and couples

Our room location was perfect with easy access to the pool, bar and ocean. The resort is on the smaller size with easy access to all the activities, great for families, lots of wildlife to enjoy as well.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Large Resort

We stayed at this resort for Christmas 2017. It is a HUGE complex. When we booked, we were advised that we would be allowed to visit any of the multiple resorts within this complex. We liked the idea of the variety. Upon arrival, we were advised that there were many places that we could not go. There was a resort in the middle of the complex that looked amazing with a waterpark for the kids and castles; we were not allowed in. And there were guards at all gates making sure of this. The beach im [... read more]mediately in front of our rooms was blocked off and we were not allowed to use it. We needed to walk down the beach to a different area far from our room, and join hundreds of other people there. The area of beach that we were allowed to use was so packed and busy, it was difficult to get a beach chair or a section of sand for the kids to play in. There were multiple swimming pools at our resort, the pools were very nice; but also difficult to get a beach chair unless you grab it before breakfast. Unfortunately, all chairs were reserved with towels, but not even half were actually being sat in by anyone. The food was good - good selection - the a la cartes were definitely worth it. Although it was very difficult to get a reservation for one. Together, the complex is massive. There are multiple golf cart trains that can take you all over the complex; it can be a little confusing as to which one takes you where. I would visit this resort again.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Much better than last year

The hotel grounds are gorgeous. The staff at the front desk need to take some customer service courses. Not impressed. The rooms are a little dated but the bathrooms need renovating. There was tape holding up the mirror, the shower backed up (disgusting), it was very hard to adjust the temperature of the water and was most of the time very hot, and the toilet kept running. The entertainment is 100% better, both in the lobby and by the pool. The food seemed a bit better as well. If the bathrooms were renovated, it would be a 5 star.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Awesome Resort

This was my second time staying at the Barcelo Bavaro beach hotel. I went for a friends wedding back in Oct 2016 and decided to come back for New Years. I went on my own both times and I did not have any issues with walking around the resort at night or with the staff. I always felt safe being there the first time so this is why I booked again. The a la carte restaurants are excellent. My favourite was the Steak house. I went to all the a la cartes that were included in staying at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach. The entertainement at night is always wonderful to watch. They do an awesome job getting the audience involved. The activities they do during the day are fun as well. I participated in the yoga, aerobics and dancing lessons. The New Years Gala was a fun night. They had a show and the food was very fancy and dancing. The only thing they should have done was advertise their new years gala more. They should have also showed the 2 options for the evening if you wanted vip bottle service you would have to pay or just free with no bottle service. That was a bit confusing. But I would deffinitely travel to this resort again and recommend it. The staff is always friendly and most of them speak English so its easier to ask questions. I always felt safe being a single woman travelling on my own. There are cameras all over the resort. I made a lot of friends with the staff. You can also walk or train over to the Palace side where they have shops, the disco and casino.

It is a huge resort provide a full variety of services, anything you wanted at a wonderful location, friendly staff, beautiful beach, clean rooms, good foods, entertainments, etc. We stayed for 5 wonderful nights.

Riu Republica: Will not go back

First let me start this by saying, we like to travel to places where we can relax and get some down time...we are not partiers although we do like to dance. This resort did its absolute best to cater to ALL AGES of adults, but there was definitely a TON of noise....very, very huge resort so if you are looking to get away from crowds, this is NOT the place. We were able to find a few little quiet spots, far left end of the beach by the Hard Rock, right next to Coco's bar, a cute little bar tha [... read more]t played latin music we could dance to in between drinks. NOTE: NO BAR SERVICE AT THE BEACH, but some of the bartenders have started coming around with random drinks on a tray to the beach...be kind, please TIP them! Alot of young people did not respect the "quiet side" of the beach as I was told it was....loud music...others around, not myself, finally asked them to turn it off. The food was wonderful; for an all-inclusive, I found there was alot of selection and decent quality. For drinks, unfortunately, no caesars, but they do make bloody marys and alot of very fruity drinks. The wine...they have two reds...be sure to ask for either "sec" or "dulce" depending on what you want. Rose wine was there and white. Some say the wine is terrible....I was able to find one red that was palatable enough for me for the week. MY BAD: I did not factor in how the 3 hour time change would affect our stay, so we missed breakfast most days of the week, as it would have had us up around 6am our time to make it for breakfast at 10am there, to have at least an hour to eat before there was nothing left and they closed at 11am. For this reason we also chose not to book excursions...as I said, we were there to relax, not get up to an alarm. The Michael Jackson show was truly amazing, but most other shows fell short of any quality entertainment after that. The two evening live music acts played the same set every time they were there, so get used to hearing repeat material, particularly if you have a trained music ear. We had a very, very bad room on check in, despite our travel agent's request 3 months earlier for near the water/ king bed. We had near the...VERY LOUD... generators, twin beds. After complaining to the front desk, we had to spend a night in room 3004, the next day at 2pm moved to another room that met the TA's emailed requests. The hallways echo quite a bit, and with partiers coming back at 2am local time, and the maids starting up at 9am local time...6am for us...with their walkie talkie radios at full volume, blasting every single radio communication in the resort, it was tough to get much sleep here. I have no idea why they cannot wear those radios on their belts like all other resort staff AND turn the volume DOWN. The staff did a wonderful job keeping the rooms clean, but the bar gets stocked only every second day, and you have to call if you want more water or anything else. We did not get routinely stocked once our entire week we were there...once got a note that we had our "do not disturb" sign up and they would come back in 2 days or we could call, but we had to call every single time after that. RIU falls short with no garbage bin liners in the garbages in the rooms, and I'm quite sure they can afford it for a "5*" resort. Dropping wet coffee liners or feminine products into an unlined can is hardly sanitary and boggles my mind as to why this is overlooked. SAND FLEAS: Read up on these critters because we were unaware and I was bitten quite badly...bug spray needs to be for FLEAS as well, not just mosquitos...unbeknown to us. The ocean and sand is stunning, but with a shoddy treatment by Sunwing added to all the shortfalls of this resort, we will definitely be spending more and heading elsewhere next time. I'm very, very disappointed to have to make this review, however, if you are looking for a quiet getaway and have limited time for a holiday, keep looking past this resort. spend your hard-earned money elsewhere. If you are a partier and don't sleep, you may get a ton of value for your buck here.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great time at Esmeralda

We loved the location of Esmeralda just steps away from the beach. The buffets were all great and the a la carte restaurants were especially delicious. With that said the whole hotel including the rooms are showing its age and will require a major renovation pretty soon. Besides for that, we had a great trip! The chilled red wine went down very very smoothly :)

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

The grounds are beautiful. The food is good lot's to choose from. The staff are friendly and cheerful the rooms are clean and the BEACH is BEAUTIFUL. Had a wonderful time.The receptionist named Lady was delightfull Everyone at the lobby bar as well as the beach bar made us feel at home. The service is by far the best II have experienced . I definitely will be back

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

One of the cleanest and nicest resorts I've been to in Punta Cana. Theres so many activities and resort is very family oriented. You're even allowed to take food from the grand buffet out if you don't feel like eating in there. Will be back for sure!

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE

Title says it all, Staff, pools, food, grounds, room, beach all incredible...I am looking to book a return trip here....I really cant say much more about this place other than ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!!

The only issue we had was that the room fridge didn't get restocked every day. Took three calls to guest services and finally a personal visit to the front desk to get it resolved, the first time. Second time (next day) I had to chase the guy down to get it done.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Great Resort

Hotel room was very spacious modern and suited our family of 5 very well. Grounds were kept tidy and neat. Food was very good at the buffet. Didn't have any luck booking an a la carte meal, unless you could eat at 9 pm. It gets a little late for the kids at that time. Had hot water issues in shower all days except one.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Dreams Punta Cana very nice place

We enjoyed our stay at the Dreams Punta Cana very clean resort, our room was always cleaned nice and the food was a little above average, the employees were all very nice. All in all I would give this resort a solid four star rating.

Occidental Punta Cana: First time visit

Great beach!! Everything was very clean. The food was good however the service at the Mexican restaurant was very slow. Very good variety of food. The water and hydro went out one night in our room. Our room was large and clean. One day it took a while to get towels but only one. Impressed with how safe it was at the beach and lots of security around. Recommend it good value for the money.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: A Paradise Indeed!!!

The butlers, the people at the front desk, the servers all get glowing marks for their dedication to their craft of making vacationers happy at the Majestic Mirage. Food was outstanding!!! Resort was beautiful and pristeen!!!!

Overall beautiful and well cared for resort -very clean . Friendly staff although we did not have a consistent butler service. The restaurants had great service and presentation but food taste was just ok. The sports bar had tasty snacks available 24 hours. Our rooms were the best we have ever had. Oh the beds were amazing , so comfortable! We enjoyed the room with the rooftop hot tub and day bed. Amazing water views and sea breeze. The white sand beach was groomed nicely everyday. Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Very Average Stay

Taken from my review on Trip Advisor: Writing this review from hotel lobby as we await our transportation back to the resort. Good: -Food excellent but with limited sea food options. -limited wait at el la carte restaurants -each restaurant was fantastic -entertainment staff very friendly (happy Louis and Felix are awesome people) -great premium alcohol in lobby bar (Kelvin is great) -everything is in close proximity (beach, food and rooms) -great weather throughout stay (only rai [... read more]ned at night) -Coco cafe great -abundant number of beach chairs but still need to search from mid morning on -Gym great for resort experience -wifi throughout the resort (but very spotty coverage) Bad: -4 out of 6 got sick from food (somewhat expected in DR. -beach patrolled by merchants who interrupt your time throughout the day with sales pitches. -no sound dampening in rooms. Can hear everything outside your door. Ugly: -2 out of 3 rooms robbed by maid(?). Total of over $200 taken. -3 out of 3 room safes did not work. Still not working after battery change by staff. -after runaround and wasted time with staff, head of concierge was helpful in giving stolen value is store credit at gift shop. All would have preferred returned $ value. -Building 9 rooms are below average when compared to other resorts. Bad smells and odours coming from bathroom area all of the time. -front desk staff was not accommodating when requesting a room change. Instead try to upsell you to the premium club. -night entertainment not good the 2 times we attended. Overall resort was quite average. Trip was a little overshadowed by the fact that 2 out of 3 rooms were robbed by hotel staff. This resulted in wasted time but ultimately a somewhat acceptable resolution with store credit to over priced gift shop.
