Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: OK but not great

We have travelled to all-inclusive resorts for thirty years and so we have a pretty good idea on the merits of those resorts we visit. The Be Live Canoa was clean and well kept, which wasn’t hard considering the time of year we were there (September). The food was OK but not great. The ocean was lovely but the beach was not walkable for the most part and the entry to the ocean is very rocky which certainly takes away from the enjoyment. You could not walk anywhere on any particular day without being followed and basically accosted by someone trying to sell you a membership in the VIP club or sell you something in their shop. Incredibly you could not get a decent glass of wine to have with dinner or at any of the bars. When we tasted our first glass, it was as close to vinegar as you can get. I returned our glasses to the bar and was told if we wanted a nice glass of wine we would have to get it through a VIP membership. The only alternative was buying a bottle to have with dinner. This is totally counter-productive to enjoying an all-inclusive vacation. On a last note I emailed the resort directly before we left and advised the resort that my wife had mobility issues and that we would appreciate a room on the ground floor. The resort ignored our request.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Grande Bahia Principe Punta Cana

overall had a great time. The place is beautiful. Pools, especially by the ocean, gorgeous. Food was very good. Lots variety. Beach was nice. A little seed-weedy nest shore but that was from stuff coming in from the ocean, not the beach itself so think they’d just the way it is right now. The rooms were nice. Spacious enough. We actually missed our original bus to the hotel but our Rep got us in another bus so worked fine. Check in was good. The had two rooms on main floor near lobby so was nice. They had given us two rooms both with king beds vs one with two queens and other with king. But both rooms had a cot in them and each had a couch that was comfortable to sleep on - as per the kids! So that was fine and because we were close to the lobby it was fine. We decided not to ask for a switch. Our keys needed reprogramming multiple times so this was a little pain getting locked out of Both rooms. The entertainment was good and right beside us. Bars were good. We spent most of our time at the beach and beach pools during the day. We took our own cups which was good because a few times at the beach they ran out of glasses. Lobby bar was good but closed st 1130 so this was early in our opinion. And the beach restaurant that was supposed to be open over night wasn’t the two times we went down. Not the end of the world. I just made sure I grabbed a couple snacks for later st dinner or we hit the dining room after the even show for a snack. The hard sell on the beach from the vendors and the resort sellers at times too much. Much Different from Cuba which did not have same hard sell. Overall it was a great place and experience. I would go back to the Dominican again and recommend this place. If I went back I’d ask go a room near the front like we had. It’s only a 10 min walk to the beach and the trolleys run often.

Riu Republica: Best time ever.

Located not too far from the airport. Resort huge but very navigable. Use the post for directions and rooms. Bars, restaurants, great selections/choices/selection. Room pretty clean. Beach maintained.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Blue bay villa Dorados

In general the stay was good food has been limited varites the resort has big issues with washroom in the room there's not enough spare for more than one person they should improve the layout they staff are friendly only few days we had buffet dinner.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Wonderful Adult resort

I had a lovely vacation at this Resort the food was excellent the buffet was beautiful and have plenty of food plenty of selection so that nobody could complain really about the food they were very pleasant the people were very nice they helped you whenever they could they gave you brought you whatever you wanted to just were excellent. The rooms were there really nice and no they were clean the sheets were white clean really clean upon arrival there was a fruit bowl there with a bottle of wine  [... read more]in the fridge in a little bottle of rum there it was great. The beach was a little bit of a walk so anyone with disabilities might have a little bit of trouble getting there unless they're in a wheelchair in any event they have it's a nice walk way that they can go to the beach on and once they get to the beach they have a special chair for people with disabilities to go in the water. All right I really had an enjoyable time they had to change my room once because the what was it the compressor died. Oh I woke up at 3 a.m. sweating because it had died in the middle of the night I went to the lobby and told him it's really hot in my room so immediately they sent the central meeting in person and asked me if I'd like to move into a room with better air conditioning right away they help me move my stuff and off to sleep I went and it was absolutely cool from there on in. The air conditioning in the second room was great it was nice and cool all the time. The only real complaint I have is the fact that Sunwing didn't take us directly to Puerto Plata we had to go to Punta Cana and then stop over there it took us from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Toronto time until 7:30 p.m. Puerto Plata time to get there it took a long time we were like 9 hours. They took us off the plane in Punta Cana and then they loaded us back on it was just ridiculous it was a very long exhausting and tedious day so we lost that day. And coming home we had to leave the hotel at 11 so we lost that day so technically we had a 6-day vacation.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Had a Great Time

The welcome was great and fast. The food was good. Some of it, quite a bit of it was EXCEPTIONAL. The room was beautiful and clean with a cute balcony. The Beach was super if you like a long walk either direction. Lots of Palapas!. Great drinks including a few little bottles in your fridge to tide you over. Appreciated the free safe and not being taken hostage with wi fi that worked on the beach!! Awesome for some of us that need to be connected while away. The water sports folks were a l [... read more]ittle dry but did a bang up job. A fun place to sail. They also have kayaks and paddle boards! HOSPITALITY and service IN THE RESTAURANTS WAS SUPERB!!! Bars hospitality was ok. When you stay at the Bouganvillia to avoid the rug rats you can also visit the friends rug rats next door at La Romana which has an awesome Beach lunch restaurant. Really Really good in every way. Friendly reminder. TIP. Leave a tip with each group you touch. Even a small one like 50 pesos.We noticed many did not leave a tip and that made me sad when we consider the only reason this business model works is because the country is developing. Just book it!!

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Amazing Resort!!!!!

The cleanest resort we have ever been too!! The food was so delicious at every restaurant and buffet. The pools were so clean and the beach was too beautiful. We went as a group of 22. There were kids and adults. We had so much to do for everyone. The all white party, the fire show, the foam pool party and so many tours offered by nexus tours at the resort. We are planning to go to Jamaica and we were so happy to see that Royalton has a resort in Montego Bay too!!! Last but not least the people  [... read more]were sooooo nice and we felt beyond safe. They are so appreciative and generous. I thought canadians were the nicest people by my amigos and senoritas in Dominicano wereee beyond the nicest!!!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Fantastic Resort!

Absolutely beautiful ! Fantastic service, excellent food. It was great to be able to use all of the hotels in the complex. Entertainment team was awesome. We are already looking at dates book it again ! We cannot wait to go back !!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Well Worth the money!

The Hotel was great from start to finish. The resort was only maybe at half capacity so the service was exceptional. From the crew in the the buffet for breakfast, the lunch by the pool and all the staff in the a'la carte restaurants or dinner buffet we had no complaints. The pool bar staff kept us in drinks and when they ran out of what we were drinking would run to get us more. The only complaint we would have was the lack of entertainment in the evening. We were expecting a little more from a 5 star resort. Would definitely recommend this resort and consider going back.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Could be better...

Hotel • Decent walk to & from the beach(make sure you bring anything you need for beach) • There's a hot tub on the upper level EVEN THAT is closed by 8pm • Great primary pool, but is severely underutilized. It's an adult only resort with a shallow pool(4.4ft) with beautiful color changing pool lights that can only be appreciated at night. Why aren't the "adults" allowed to swim after 8pm. It's a vacation/resort the min time should be 1am (really available whenever an guest wants to go  [... read more]in) that includes the jacuzzi. • Terrible wifi. It's included in the package but you have to be doing artistic poses to get a strong stable connection (rooms & throughout the resort grounds) & when you get one it drops. Food • Mexican restaurant: great options. • Italian restaurant: can be better (over cooked) • Dominican restaurant: need more variety in food choices. • Beach bar/buffet isn't too bad, but variety in food choices there would be another bonus. Fruits in all locations (beach & buffet) were not recipe enough. Rooms • AC system comes & goes, this caused major condensation in the room, a small pool in fact. • Hot water comes & goes. • Not enough towels for the bathroom. • No maid service door sign was available (had to call each morning). • No toothpaste, face towels, not enough bathing toiletries. • Room door broke(electronic key) , if it wasn't by luck one of us left early & tried coming back into the room, we would've been locked out. • After all this, we didn't get a room change (even though there were available rooms, they just kept sending a repairman). Staff • Staff is touch & go, some positive/some negative, majority negative. • The coordinators/staff need to speak much better English as majority of hotel guests tend to be from English speaking countries. It's going to be difficult to communicate with staff when they don't understand what your saying. Activities • Night life, extremely disappointed (it was a down season). They made no adjustments to make it a more inviting atmosphere. Although very good music selections for "disco night". • Activities (scheduled) need to be updated, still using music & ideas from 10+ years ago. • Definitely should try going to local bar/clubs. It's gonna give you a better night fun no"seniors" although can have fair amount of mid 20s to mid 30s inhabitants. Beach (public) • Beautiful sand, (very fine), but gentle. • Alright setup for the beach chair to water distance. (if you leave your stuff on your seats, you won't be able to see it from the waters edge). So be careful leaving things unattended. • During the busy season since it's a public beach, locals can pass through & with your stuff laying around, definitely can go missing. • Definitely under utilized, they could make more of it with events & activities (day or night).

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Melia Punta Cana

Just returned from this resort. This resort is beautiful, food for the most part was good. I felt the resort lacked entertainment around the pool they only had paddle board balance exercises and a foam party. The rooms were clean, the air conditioning worked great. I knew this was a big resort going in but They really need more carts running between the lobby and the beach. This was a problem because all the restaurants were in the lobby’s. But this resort was worth the visit

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Beautiful Melia !

Just returned from a fabulous relaxing vaca at adults only The Level Melia Punta Cana. Highly recommend this resort ! Beach was great, soft white sand and we enjoyed all the food at alacarte Quimera restaurant for Level guests. Excellent service ! The Asian and Italian were also nice. Top choice liquors and fabulous drinks by bartenders. Rooms were nice, well equipped and comfy beds. What's not to enjoy ! We will definitely return.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Belle semaine!

L'hotel: âgé, mais très bien. La nourriture: correcte. Sable: très blanc! Algues: beaucoup sur le bord :0( Le service: très bien. Mais à l réception.... ils n'ont pas inventé la vitesse et la débrouillardise. Tout inclus: super. Pas de change à trainer. Ils n'étaient pas agaçant pour le tips. Impressive Punta Cana: Nice Relaxing Week

The hotel was clean, well kept, had many dining options, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The entertainment staff, in particular, kept the fun vibe going day and night! The Japanese style a la carte restaurant was absolutely delicious! Highly recommend!!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Beautiful esthetically but everything else was not what we signed up for

The location the hotel was beautiful but the place was way too big that you had to trolly it everywhere and trolly service stopes at certain hours for certain hotels. We invited friends to spend the day verbal confirmation was given over phone upon arrival to front desk they said no it's against hotel policy. We had to leave resort to see our friend. Food. Smh for this reason alone i will not be visiting. Bland and tasteless. I don't know who gave them those 5 stars but they need take it  [... read more]down to 3🤷🏾‍♀️

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: looks nice in the pictures

6/10 because the people are so nice. resort itself was not worth the money, food was not the best same pretty much the same everyday at the buffet. felt very sick after the Japanese restaurant. overall, decent not the best.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Pretty good

Too far from the beach, lots of seaweed, too many people selling things- very annoying. Pool and pool bar closes too early 6pm. Good food, nice rooms. Would recommend if you get a good price on the vacation.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia caribe

It is a great resort especially if you are going with kids. The staffs are really friendly and you have a lot of restaurants to try. The entertainment was great and fun. I will definitely recommend the resort to a family.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Resort itself is disappointing, people are amazing

The resort doesn’t look anything like the pictures. It is very very small in reality. Everyone at the resort had bed bugs and after hearing their complaints we were so paranoid. When we asked the front desk to check our rooms a guy named Carlos was extremely rude. He doesn’t know how to talk to people. He was not welcoming at all when we were checking in too. The beach is not the nicest. There’s sooo many locals trying to sell you excursions and souvenirs it’s ridiculous, they literally [... read more] will not leave you alone and they follow you up to your rooms. And the pool is concrete no tiles, the concrete is broken up and all our feet have blisters and so many cuts. There’s also a huge hole in the middle of the pool By the volleyball nets, we got our feet stuck in there by accident because it’s not visible. It’s not very deep, but it is very painful. Other than that, the people at this resort were nice other than Carlos. Champagne, Manuel, Murphy are the reason why we had fun, there are tons of events everyday which was nice, such as foam party, pool parties, volleyball/soccer tournaments. The food is decent, not the best. Snack bar is disgusting all the food is raw.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Good value, not a 5 star

The resort is a bit outdated and in need of few renovations. Food is just OK, occasionally just bland and not properly cooked (e.g. "baked" potatoes are almost raw) . The resort is huge yet it's kept very clean. Beach is awesome, lots of shade under palm trees. Staff is friendly and helpful. Recommended for families with smaller kids as there is plenty of stuff to do all day long.
