Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful spot

The weather was absolutely amazing the whole 10 days. We had no issues with the WestJet flight and was well prepared with everything needed from the trip central staff. Thank you for making sure we were prepared with visit tax and everything else.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: An honest review

The resort is big and beautiful, and there are lots of activities for families. The restaurants are pretty good overall, although a few are nasty. The Sandos app is decent but could be better. It was easy for us to book à la carte restaurants through the app, and we were able to book five during our seven-night stay. The only two à la cartes that were actually good were the Japanese restaurant and Los Lirios. Check-in was quick for us because we arrived late, but we often saw very long check- [... read more]in lines when walking through the lobby. Staff could have more positive attitudes. The resort is definitely family oriented, but there are nice adults-only sections throughout the property. It is very hard to get smaller peso bills, so it’s best to get them before you arrive. The beach was really well kept, but be prepared for someone trying to sell you something every couple of minutes. They are not aggressive sellers, though. The large pool area where most people swim was quite crowded and the water was dirty, with a lot of sand on the floor. Drink quality was pretty decent and they do have some good high-quality brands. The Wi-Fi throughout the resort was pretty good, with only a few spotty patches on the beach. The live shows were amazing, especially the Michael Jackson one. The resort is only ten minutes from Walmart and Fifth Avenue. You can take a taxi, Uber, InDrive, or the shuttle that runs twice a day for a couple of dollars. There is a lack of staff at the bars, which causes big lineups because most bars only had one bartender. The resort could have much better cleaning practices in the bars, sitting areas, and other common spaces. Housekeeping was subpar. You can’t get any good food on the resort past 11 p.m. The only place open after that is Nido, and they only serve beef and chicken tacos or burritos, and they are not great. The one-bedroom pool view suite we stayed in was pretty run down. The TV was old, the floors had cracks, and there was broken furniture and broken electrical outlets. The paint was peeling on the walls, and the air-conditioning filters were disgusting, looking like they had never been cleaned. There is no door separating the bedroom from the living room, and there are no doors on the bathrooms, which seemed very odd. The toilet is in a separate little room with a door, which is also strange. This suite is definitely not ideal for families. The water park is nice and clean. The food there is terrible and there are not many options. The ice cream is okay. You can’t get alcohol there, and if you want to smoke there is no smoking hut nearby. All in all, the experience was positive, but not enough for me to consider coming back.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Awesome experience

We loved everything about this resort. It was the perfect time of year to get out of the Canadian cold. The accomodations, service, food and entertainment exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning in the future.

Grand Palladium Kantenah: Grand Palladium Kantenah

Our stay at the Grand Palladium Kantenah was excellent. The rooms, food and service were top notch. We’ve stayed at the Grand Palladium Colonial in the past with a similar experience. The resort has only gotten better with time. Keep up the good work! We’ll be back soon!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Barcelo Maya Colonial was Wonderful

We stayed at thr Barcelo Colonial with a group of friends in December 2025. We had a great time and having access to the other resorts was a bonus. This was the first time we never left the resort to do an excursion. There were lots of free activities available in the complex. We ate at the Colonial/ Tropical and the Caribe/Maya Beach. They were slightly different but both really good. Caribe/Maya had a great pasta station and sandwich grill station. The a la carte restaurants that we tried were really good too. Kyoto, santa fe and the seafood one. No problems finding a chair by the pools or the beach and lots of shady areas. There were a lot of hammocks available by the pool area too, perfect for a daytime nap. We went to the theatre a few times and the shows were as entertaining as other resorts we've gone too. A lot of singing amd dancing. It would be nice to have a fire show, a magician, or something more entertaining. We found it more lively hanging out in the mall bar by Caribe or in Maya beach lobby. Better music and a younger crowd. There wasn't a happening common space to hang out in the evening other than the piano bar which was quieter and older crowd Overall we had a great time and it was a great resort.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Family trip to Sandos

This resort is well laid out with beautiful shaded pathways getting you anywhere you need to be with the feel of a jungle adventure. Lots of wildlife to see including Monkeys and Coatis , Iguanas and even some friendly cats make for a great time for everyone especially the kids. The animation team did a great job keeping kids happy with daily activities and the resort has so many natural features to explore there is something for everyone. Check in was extremely long ( it took honestly 1 hour and 50mins start to finish) , and quite frustrating. Travel days aren't fun for anyone, and after the 1 hr 40 min bus ride from the airport... standing in another line and being told repeatedly that if we bought an upgrade we wouldn't have to wait in line isn't well received. We finally got our family of 4 checked in and our bracelets, then told we needed to line up at the Concierge desk to have the room number assigned and the bracelets programmed. Frustrating ? Absolutely!!! We have traveled to several Caribbean countries , to many different resorts... this was absolutely the worst check in we have have experienced. We were informed of the Sandos App, and that's how we were instructed to book the Al La Carte's throughout our stay. Once we logged in with our room number, we could see NO availability ... for any restaurant ... ALL WEEK ! Great.... This resort could be great, with some changes to the administrative section. The maid staff, gardeners, wait staff and cooks... all amazing and deserve our thanks. The food was as expected, ok resort food with the usual buffet selection. The beach was ok , definitely rocky with one small section behind a barrier that was safe for kids. Lot of shade and we could always find a lounge chair so no issues there. The pools were dirty unfortunately, especially the main pool with the swim up bar. It had tons of sand in the bottom and we honestly didn't see any staff cleaning like other resorts do in the evening or early morning. Would we go back? Maybe if we knew they had resolved the restaurant reservation system and the check in process with some additional staffing for bars. Only having one bar to serve the entire beach as well as the pool area just doesn't work. Always long lines unfortunately.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing holiday again

Stayed at this resort for seven beautiful days. Had an ocean front room which was a little dated but room was very clean and everything work. The beach is rocky when entering which didn’t affect us as we always wear water shoes. Had no problem booking all seven a la carte restaurants and had amazing food at all that we booked. Also found there house wines to be very good. Transportation around the resort is great. The trolleys came around every ten minutes so no waiting around. Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Luxurious Resort

This resort was out of this world...you name it all and it was 100/10. No complaints whatsoever about the services, resort, people, food, rooms, activities and the list goes on! By far the best resort I have been too in my life

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Bahia Principe Luxury Akumal

This hotel & resort has plenty of pool space, a nice beach swimming area and plenty of spaces to hang out in and gather with our group of approx. 20 travellers. Booking restaurants was very difficult, most of us couldn't get any restaurant reservations and the bathrooms in the lobbies seemed to all be missing hooks on the back of the doors inside the stalls. Fabiola (entertainment team) and Victoria (concierge) both went above and beyond to accommodate our big travelling group.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Just ok...

Trying to find the positive in a mediocre week away at the Seaside Suites. Dated rooms and bathrooms however, housekeeping was consistent and attentive. Food was tasty but most items were cold or at the best warm. Booking a la carte can be challenging at any resort, particularly difficult here. Despite walking past restaurants 1/3 full after being told there are no tables. Feel perhaps this is a result of staffing - optics of empty tables were frustrating when we couldn't eat until 10 p.m. most  [... read more]nights. Very understaffed so hard to get support when needed - Mildred the night manager was amazing and helpful. Lizbeth and Armando at the preferred pool were lovely and kind. Most uncomfortable chairs - beach, pool, restaurants, rooms, makes for a long week when you can't get comfortable anywhere. For the money and the star rating I would suggest this is not a 5 star but perhaps a solid 3.5 with some elements being a 4. Thankfully the weather was amazing which makes everything better.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: A Must Stay

Excellent resort - grounds are beautiful, food was great, service and cleanliness were excelllent. About 25 minutes from the airport so fairly convenient. Felt very safe. Resort was done up for Christmas beautifully.

El Dorado Royale: Great resort

El Dorado Royale is a huge, beautiful resort. The food choices were excellent and we had a wonderful time. Everyone (the employees) was very nice and quick to fulfill any requests. .Would definitely return and recommend to friends and family.

Secrets Tulum Resort and Beach Club: Amazing resort

Nice food, all restaurants available for walk ins, accommodating staffs and beautiful rooms. Location is a bit far but the casa zamna area is great with lively bars and shops just outside of the hotel.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Fun resort for kids but comes with food poisoning

The hotel had a lot to see and do. It’s really great if you have children. However, 5 out of the 10 people in our group experienced food poisoning and because of that we wouldn’t return. Also, our room phone was called numerous times by hotel staff trying to sell us something at 9am. I had to unplug our phone mid trip. The housecleaning person also would knock on our door at 9am. Coming from BC that is 6am our home time. It was really frustrating to have our family woken up so early while on vac [... read more]ation.

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Valentin Experience

This resort has much to be happy about. The staff are friendly and work hard to make our stay memorable. There are many ala cart restaurants that serve a variety of different gourmet meals. Such as French, Mexican, Asian, Italian, etc. We were delighted with the natural tropical settings. Don't be surprised if you see a few animals wandering around the site. Our room was well appointed and keep clean. We used the smaller pool as the larger one was crowded and very noisy. Get your lattes and ice cream there.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort

Friendly staff, excellent food and very clean. The only issue is people placing towels on chairs to reserve their spots on the beach and at pools and not being there most of the day. The a-la-carte restaurants were very good however unless you arrived early because it was open with no reservation required you could wait 1 to 2 hours with a buzzer.

Ocean Maya Royale: Mobility Issues

Food and staff were very good. Rooms were clean, bathrooms were newly renovated. The only issue was the shower tiles were a slip hazard, there were no bars to hand onto. The grounds were nicely kept. Lots of wildlife. For me personally, I have a mobility issue that I can’t walk up or stairs without hanging on to a railing. There 5 steps higher than normal to get into my ground floor room. There was no railing, so I had to have help every time I went up or down. There were steps and very st [... read more]eep ramps going to the pool area, again, no railings. Had to have help. If anyone has mobility issues, this is not the Resort to go to. We will never go back, this being the worst vacation.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Love coming back

Stayed here once again for the 4th time, and we really do think that this resort could be the best overall value on the Mayan Riviera. A Junior Deluxe Swimout room here was the same price as non-swimout rooms at other 4.5 star resorts, and the room layout and swimout pool design are perfect. Buffet for breakfast was consistently good, and the a la cartes were more than adequate. Being able to eat at the sister resorts’ restaurants is a nice privilege as well. Margaritaville Island Reserve Riviera Maya: Nice resort, but no beach!

Overall the resort is very nice, rooms are clean and modern. Almost all rooms will have a partial ocean view with the rooms either facing the sunrise or sunset. The food is decent - the breakfast buffet left a little bit to be desired, much few options then other resorts with things like bacon being behind the counter being limited by the egg chef. The Landshark brewery being onsite is a nice touch, the lunches were excellent as was the draught beer. The pool area was very nice, with the ser [... read more]vice around the pool being one of the best I've had - wait staff were very attentive. No cards required for pool towels and you could take as many as you'd like. Entertainment was daily - there are many options to either be in the party atmosphere or within a more tranquil spot as the pool area is expansive. There is currently no beach, and the ocean water is currently a black sludge - we aren't big beach people so it didn't bother us, but were heard many folks from Europe complaining as they were unaware that there was no beach at the resort. With so many options I would be hard pressed to go back again until the beach situation is sorted.

Allegro Playacar: Great Resort

The resort was the perfect size and very clean..the beach was amazing, nice white sand and lots of loungers...Pool was great too. Food and drinks were fabulous...the animation staff and bartending staff we also good. There is a lot of critters running around but that was ok too. We had a tough time getting alacarte restaurants but managed 2 in the week we were there. My only problems was i had booked 2 months in advance and we were a group of 6 women and requested our rooms be together.
