Melia Jardines del Rey: Not so good

The rooms and grounds were okay. The services were limited.....don't know if it was the time of year? The food was not the greatest in the buffet, it was the same menu everyday. The mosquitoes were sickening, also I got a reaction to some ? or food item not mosquitoes, a lot of the guests had it. I had to see a doctor and get an antidote to stop the hives and itching.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Relaxing vacation

Food was surprisingly good, beach was incredible. Some of the staff seemed a bit rude at times, mainly at the lobby bar. Overall great place for a relaxing vacation. If you are a smoker I’d highly recommend bringing enough for the trip. There’s no vaping in Cuba and the store rarely had any for sale except menthols.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Nice Resort,Good Food, Amazing beach and Ocean

They have made some improvements to the resort since covid. They are currently renovating the rooms. The pool was nice and it was clean. The beach is second to none and the ocean is so clean and clear. It helps that it is warm for people like me who do not like cold water. The food was good and plentiful. No shortages. One night during the entertainment, there was a man there who was drunk and he was pushing himself on the lady running the entertainment. He was very persistand and was getting worse as time went on. She made it clear she did not want him to bother her and at one point she was in tears. Nobody stepped in to help even though she was trying to hide from him in the cigar shop and the main lobby. My son went up to the front desk and said the man was sexually assaulting her and asked them to stop him. They told security,, but they didnot help the situation. They were laughing with him and at one point they were standing beside her and this man went up and grabbed her from behind and started grinding on her. SECURITY DID NOTHING AT ALL and they were only about 2 feet away from her. They saw the whole thing. I went to front desk and said if they did not stop him I was leaving a bad review and would not be staying there again. Still nothing happened. He even went and sat at a table right were she had to work from. The lady in charge of the entertainment dancers finally came and tried to push him and his wife away from the lobby area but they just returned and started dancing along side the show dancers. Eventually, about 45 to 60 minutes later a man in jeans and dress shirt finally came and made them leave. He looked to be a main manager of the hotel. They should have, at the very least, escorted him to his room but instead they chose to do nothing and let him be. I felt so bad for the poor lady. She is one of the hotel employees yet they did nothing to protect her from this predator. He had no intention of leaving her alone. It was quite scary to watch. I did not feel safe with him there because he and his wife were right back at it the next day. If this is how TRYP treats their employees I cant imagine what they would have done if it was a guest. I love Tryp, and have been there numerous times, but Im not confident I will be back unfortunately.

Sanctuary White Sands: Relaxing paradise

This resort is a hidden gem! I loved my time here, I did not have any issues like others have mentioned other than the food at the buffet was repetitive but when that happened I was able to go to the grill bar by the pool or go to the pizza making one located on 8 Block and the pool definitely needs more shade. My room was cleaned every day and my towels were changed daily. You get 2 bottles of water daily as well. I would recommend to tip your maid and water person, it goes a long way. The lobby bar was great as well, the Cubans that work at this resort are very friendly and did make a few friends on this trip. This resort is for people who want to have a relaxing and quiet experience and that is exactly what I was looking for.

Melia Cayo Coco: Great resort!

Very clean in all big and small places. great stuff- helpful and friendly, very good food with plenty of choices. Beach and ocean are second to none. Convenient short travel time from airport to the resort. Even though the resort is old, rooms are pleasant to stay and enjoy your vacation in. AC ie working the way it should to allow nice breaks from the heat, when you need it, as well a pleasant sleep time

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Going back

The grounds were very well manicured. The staff was friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest beaches i have seen. I was surprised by the choices on the buffet. The Alacarts were surprisingly good.

Melia Cayo Coco: My happy place!

This was our 2nd visit to this resort and it won’t be our last. When we go back to Cuba, this is the only place we will stay. The beach is perfection, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the food is actually good, excellent for Cuba, and the people are the most welcoming, helpful and friendly. There were no shortages while we were there. The entertainment was incredible in the lobby, such talented performers and the nightly shows were great. Can’t wait to go back!

Melia Cayo Coco: Amazing

This is our second time being there. It is an amazing resort not too crazy, relaxing, no fighting for chairs. The restaurants are amazing. All their employees are great , Highly recommended going back next year.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great resort

We went during low season but we still made the best of it! All the a la carte were delicious. Snack bar was good! could have more a bit more. Buffet was ok we never starved. Employees were amazing and fun! The beach is amazing!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Paradise

My daughter and I spent the first week of May at this resort. We stayed in the Granma building which was very close to everything so no unnecessary long walks anywhere which we prefer. The room was clean and such comfortable beds. Air conditioning worked very well. Looked forward to the wonderful creations that the maid did everyday with our towels and blankets. The resort itself is beautiful and on the smaller side so everything is nice and close. Lots of entertainment throughout the day and every evening, always plenty of seating. The Buffett has plenty of fresh food everyday but be warned there is not much variety so you will need to be creative if this isn’t to your liking. There is a snack bar behind the pool that serves French fries and sandwiches throughout the day. The flies were really bad at the Buffett, the staff did what they could to control them. The beach was amazing, beautiful! Tons of shade to hangout all day. Tropical fish will swim around you while you swim. You can walk quite the distance in either direction. Tips should be given in paper money, not coin. Coin is useless for them. But even better take some extra bars of soap or toothpaste to give out instead. They lack basic essentials. If you google it there is a good list of things they need. Also don’t forget the gardeners. We love this resort and will be returning often.

Hotel Playa Coco: Great Vacation!

Playa Coco is a beautiful, small, well maintained resort. I had a spectacular ocean view! My room was just steps from the ocean and the pool. The beach is gorgeous with soft beige sand and the pool is large and super clean. There is also a quiet pool with no music if you just want to relax. The buffet was always fresh with local fruits and vegetables. They served fresh omelets or crepes for breakfast and chicken, pork, beef and fish for lunch and supper. They also offered fresh bread daily, pas [... read more]tries, smoothie bar, juices, yoguorts and ice cream! I also really enjoyed the Japanese and Cuban restaurants. Rooms are dated but cleaned everyday. I always had hot water with great pressure except for 1 evening in a 14 day stay. The only thing I would have liked to see is some traditional Cuban band in the lobby for nightly entertainment otherwise it was a great vacation!????

Sol Cayo Coco: Terrific two weeks

Enjoyed our vacation immensely. Found our room spotless each and every day. Food was also terrific. Staff was always most helpful with a huge smile. But the best part was the beach and weather. Both were absolutely perfect. But I do have a few concerns which I’m hoping will find their way into the hands of the resort owners. PLease take a close look at your hard working upfront staff and I really do mean hard working. In many cases although their attire was always spotless it was quite worn  [... read more]and poorly fitting . Same with footwear. If you want your resort to stand out snd be celebrated take better care of your front line workers. Tourists notice snd question the ethics of their employers. Appreciate theses hard working people. Finally we loved your beach at Sol but you need well maintained garbage containers badly.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: AMAZING resort!!

We had such an amazing time at Memories Flamenco! My partner (21M) and I (22F) went to memories flamenco for the first time and our stay was from May 4-11th 2024 and we were very pleased with everything! We opted in for Diamond Club and we highly recommend due to the faster service, extra dinner reservation, and greater selection/variety of alcohol. FOOD: the food was spectacular, safe to say the best eats we had thus far in Cuba... as we've been many times. Although, i will mention on our final day (May 11) they shut down the main buffet and cut the amount of staff in half to prepare for their slow season! This wasn't ideal, but we couldn't complain because it was our last day. Keep this in mind if you are planning to go during may-september. You'll find longer wait times for food and drink and a lesser variety of foods at the smaller buffet. STAFF: the staff was amazing throughout the entire resort! All were so kind and pleased to serve you, we made plenty of friends with staff, and they were all so grateful for the tips and gifts we brought for them. NIGHTLIFE: As a young couple, we were hoping to have a more eventful nightlife. As they were downsizing they shutdown the sports bar which wasn't ideal. With no disco on-site, made nights more calmer. Although there is a disco 10 minute walk away which we didn't make it to. We were originally unsure of what we were going to get out of Memories flamenco due to the reviews and prices, but we were greatly impressed! We will definitely be returning to Memories Flamenco, and highly recommend this resort!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Awesome 7 day stay!!

Extremely well laid out resort, tastefully colored and decorated and clean as a whistle EVERYWHWERE. A very friendly and appreciative staff. Accommodations were very comfortable. Entertainment was professional and quite impressive. The bars could use a menu to identify what is available. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Exceeded expectations

We visited this resort May 1-8 and had an amazing time. We previously stayed here 12 years ago and loved it then, but with all the shortages and stories of bad food and poor drink selection, we went with low expectations. We were plesantly surprised by how good the food was and there were plenty of choices at all the bars. Our room was adequate, clean with plenty of hot water to shower and nice cool air conditioning. We have travelled all over Cuba and Mexico and this resort remains one of our favorites!

Melia Cayo Coco: Great Resort

We returned to the Melia Cayo Coco for second time and enjoyed it thoroughly. A small resort, only 250 rooms, adults only, and mostly Canadians. The staff were amazing and the food plentiful. A little windy this trip, so more time spent at the pool than the beach. They are undergoing renovations and can’t wait to see the end result. Hopefully, next April.

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Great Place to Try

Pros: Close to airport, approx 35 minute bus ride. Beach was beautiful and the best part of our stay. Never a problem finding loungers. Our room was in a great location, overlooking the main pool. Of all our stays in Cuba over the years, we’ve never had such a comfortable bed. Infinity pool was beautiful and peaceful. We had the best grilled ham and cheese sandwiches from the snack bar. We avoided it as much as we could. Through no fault of the workers, they had to deal with drink and food shortages. There was no shortage of mint for mojitos but they had no soda water or lime juice, so they used green lime drink mix. It was drinkable, but definitely not a Cuban mojito. Not a complaint necessarily just an observation. Overall, we would absolutely return but would really like to see improvements to the buffet temperature

Valentin Cayo Cruz: What an utterly gorgeous resort, peaceful, fantastic beach.

This was my first Cuban trip to anywhere but Varadero (which I also loved). The bus trip from the Cayo Coco airport is an hour, which is not bad. It was the massive inifinity pool that sold me in the advert for the Valentin hotel itself. That pool and the ocean in the background charmed me every day several times a day. Several of the staff at the resort really stood out with their customer service and ready smile - Bruglio (spelled wrong but he'll know who I mean) and Yulia (name is wrong but s [... read more]he'll know who I mean) were fantastic on the lobby bar. The beach is a combination of coral rock and white sand the texture of flour, probably effected by persistent strong winds that come in from the ocean and can make the temperature feel much cooler than it is. The coral rock is home to several species, including a large crab we found and (probably hundreds in total) several iguanas. Valentin Cayo Cruz is the closest resort to the coral rock where these creatures live, and people walked from miles up the beach every morning hoping to catch a glimpse, so it was a treat to have it right at our disposal. The open lobby is massive and beautiful with glossy white tile floors and tons of seating. Dining was what it normally is in Cuba - tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, lots of rice and beans, cooked mixed vegetables with a tangy sauce (quite good), sweet potato (green - again very good), "pumpkin" (squash - also great, for those of us who appreciate fresh vegetables), fresh fish, mussels, shrimp on the griddle (or everything omelets cooked to order at breakfast), and lots of roasted chicken legs and pork. Not a ton of deep fried stuff, which I also appreciated for a vacation, but some people...you know. :) Rooms were neat and tidy and had recently been renovated in a modern style. We had a ground floor room which gave us our own walk out patio looking onto a big field full of tropical plants that separates the hotel from the ocean - like a lovely private back yard. Overall, I was completely charmed by this resort and will definitely go back.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: We will be back next year!

Hotel was good. Not a lot of water pressure in the shower and strange shower set up and we asked for a remote for theTV twice and never did get one all week. Also, a flat sheet on bed would be nice. Other than that, pretty good

Melia Cayo Coco: Excellent Resort and Amazing Staff

Rooms are dated but renovations are to start in July. Grounds are well maintained. The beach is fantastic. There is no shortage of food. All employees are really welcoming. It feels like home away from home.
