Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: A Beautiful Resort
This resort exceeded our expectations in all respects. The grounds are perfectly kept and everything is very clean. The main areas for guests such as the lobby, buffet restaurants, bars and pools are very beautiful. It feels very luxurious and traditionally Caribbean with the use of high open ceilings, exposed rafters, metal grillwork, and exceptional marble flooring. The food was very good and the service was attentive and friendly. The rooms are spacious and ours was cleaned well on a dail[... read more]y basis. The beach area is wonderful with adequate loungers, many mature palm trees for shade and waiter service. The water is cloudy and there are jellyfish. The pools make up for the poorer quality ocean swimming with their size, and easy availability. The animation team is the best I have encountered. The clientele were a variety of ages and all seemed to be enjoying themselves. I would return.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Great vacation
The resort was great. Staff amazing and the food was good. Only a few minor minor things. Would have liked for them to give me my luggage. I only had carry on but had to wait 20 mins for them to bring it to the room. More hand soap dispensers are needed in public restrooms. The beach area is to shallow, wish it was deeper.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Will definitely be back!
A bit overdue, but wanted to leave a full review of this resort :) For context, we're a couple in early 40s with kids and this was our first time visiting SK or any Bahia Principe resort for that matter :)
Overall, we had an amazing time and would definitely be back!
The room: I know some have said that the rooms were "dated". Honestly, I this this is the style of the decor for this place. I'd consider myself a person who likes luxury, cleanliness and comfort. Not super picky, but getting [... read more]a good sleep and having a clean room is more important than anything else. We had the penthouse suite. The room was very spacious, and cleaned well daily. We did not see any tarantulas or scorpions in the room, but outside of the room we saw a sizeable scorpion on the stairs going up, lots of gekkos or lizards of some sort, a HUGE bug which we're still debating if it was a cockroach, and some cool frogs. Nothing too alarming. I'm a picky sleeper with insomnia so please take this with a grain of salt... We have a foam mattress at home so we can't feel each other move around, however the beds here, you can absolutely feel the other person getting in and out of bed and tossing and turning. The pillows were very small... resembling couch cushions and they were very stiff. We asked for down pillows and memory foam, and was better, but still not the most comfortable sleep. The AC unit is also found right above one side of the bed. My partner slept closer to the unit and it was quite cold and apparently "dry" feeling. We left a tip for the cleaner every day and also the mini fridge stock person. Great service every day. Water pressure was a bit of an issue. We couldn't get the hot tub filled quite what we wanted. It was dribbling, but it rained most the time we were there so we didn't really use it. Some guests complained about electricity issues in their room, so on par, we were good with weaker water pressure :)
On food: all the buffets were pretty much on par. We were never really the first do get there, so I think we missed the good seafood on the Friday. Also keep in mind that neither my partner or myself are dessert people so we didn't try any of the desserts at the restaurants. I'd say that my favorite buffet would be Akumal. But honestly, they're all quite comparable. Aluxe was decent, I really liked their appy's... we tried them all, service was also great. I generally like my steak really rare, and asked for rare. The texture was very different than what I'm used to. It was more of a raw salmon texture than a beefy texture, less chewing required? Our favorite restaurant, by far, was the brazillian steakhouse. I was afraid the steak would be overly salty and dry/overcooked. My gosh... it was FANTASTIC. The seafood restaurant on (i think) Coba was also very great! We also tried a few other restaurants, but those two were our favorite. We accidentally were late to one of our resos by 15 mins, and were seated without issues.
It wasn't the easiest task to find chairs in the shade where the entertainment was happening by the beach resorts but we managed, and def WAY better than other AI resorts we've been to.
On drinks: it's been a while since I've visited Mexico, but i remembered they had the best drinks b/c they used better alcohol and fresh juices. Unfortunately like most AI resorts, they no longer have fresher juices at the bars. I was getting a bit tired of drinking pina coladas the whole time, and I took a pic of the list of drinks people were saying were delicious and many bartenders had no idea what I was asking for. The bar tender at the lobby bar in SK, Randi was fantastic - he has a passion for making delicious drinks and always surprised me. Sadly I only found him 2-3 days before leaving :(
Entertainment was good for a resort that is a bit quieter at night. Shows daily from 9-10. They were good. My favorite was the silent disco. First time experiencing it, and was definitely a lot of fun!
The service here and I might mention, ALL of the resorts were fantastic. Zero complaints!
The trolly rides to the other resorts came frequently enough. I likely wouldn't recommend drinking overboard and then heading back b/c it can be quite bumpy LOL, but we pretty much just went for dinner and headed back to SK after.
We would be back in a heartbeat! Was a nice relaxing vacation. Sadly more rain than sun, but no fault of the resort! It was a fantastic time regardless!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Perfect family resort
We were hesitating between Esmeralda or Fantasia and went with Esmeralda. This resort exceeded our expectations and was the perfect place to bring our young family! Not only is the resort stunning but service is a high priority for them. We were asked multiple times during our week stay if we were enjoying the hotel and if they could accommodate us in any way. It was perfect!
Such a phenomenal resort. Extremely well kept and clean. Food and entertainment were all amazing!!
Staff was very friendly and remembered our names. We were a party of 10!!

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Lush resort!
The grounds at Bahia Principe Grand Tulum were stunning, lush, and very well maintained. Food was very plentiful at the buffet. Only drawback was it was so hot in there due to the open nature of the restaurant. All the restaurants we visited were very good, we especially enjoyed the Mikado Tepanyaki and Tequila! Staff was amazingly friendly and hard working. Pool activities were super fun. My favourite was Victor the water aerobics instructor, so much fun! The beach was lovely but rocky in some [... read more]spots for swimming, had to go towards the Akumal for better sandy beach. Rooms were just average and showed their age in comparison to the rest of the resort. Overall, it was a fun time with good food, plentiful drinks and lots of walking!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great resort
We spent a family vacation with our 3 y.o. daughter in August 2024. We loved the resort! The territory is huge, and you can still use the amenities of other parts of this Bahia Principe resort while staying in one of them. The entertainment team did a wonderful job, and we loved the evening shows. The restaurants were amazing! The food was always tasty, and the service was very decent. We also liked that the staff does their job really well no matter whether you're giving them tips or no, which [... read more]makes you want to tip them. However, the beach is not great along the whole shore occupied by the hotel - the part near Tulum is better. Also, the rooms in Tulum have undergone pretty recent renovations; however, in Akumal they are pretty large and are kept clean and well-maintained.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Nothing 5 star about this hotel!!
I recently stayed at the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica in Runaway Bay and had a generally okay experience. The hotel boasts absolutely stunning outdoor grounds, meticulously maintained and perfect for a relaxing stroll. The lush greenery, beautiful landscaping, beach areas and inviting pools truly create a serene atmosphere. Additionally, the staff was consistently friendly and eager to assist, which added a welcoming touch to our stay.
There were a variety of on-site restaurants but many were[... read more] not even open, despite them being available for reservation. Overall, the food quality unfortunately fell short of expectations. The food was satisfactory, but not exceptional, limiting our dining options further.
There were a few issues during our stay that detracted from the overall experience. The lack of air conditioning in common areas made it uncomfortable at times, especially during hotter parts of the day. The wifi was spotty/ did not work at all in some areas of the hotel. Also, due to the tv being apart of the wifi system, when the wifi had an issue during our stay the tv did not work for 4 days. Some repairs around the hotel seemed unfinished(very rushed work), and the overall aesthetic of the property wasn’t as modern as one might expect for the 5 star price. We also encountered a couple of roaches in the eating area and hallways, which was very concerning. The hallways themselves are open to the air, so when it rained, they would get wet, which was inconvenient and potentially hazardous.
Despite these drawbacks, I do believe there is room for improvement in a few key areas to ensure that the hotel fully lives up to its potential. The hotel is marketed as a five-star establishment; however, considering all of the above, it fell short of expectations and seemed to be more of a 2 star experience.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Overall a nice place to holiday
My husband and I went to the resort for our honeymoon. After many attempts to let the staff know it was our honeymoon, we were underwhelmed Food and buffets were great, the restaurant booking process was not ideal- a la carte can be booked in advance with no limitations, so getting in to the highly rated restaurants was virtually impossible. Room service was a life saver. The beach was decent, lots of seaweed on adult only side. The room was nice and spacious, we had purchased the ocean view ro[... read more]om and it was beautiful. The sliding door was not tracking properly though and so a lot of warm wind was whistling in at all times of the day/night making noises and not allowing the room to cool down properly.
We made the best of it.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Great holiday
We had a nice holiday, but it’s not a 5 star hotel.
Pros;
Best thing about this hotel was the Food selection.
Restaurants al a cart were great, but make sure to book ahead.
The adults only beach was great it always had lots of chairs available any time of the day.
People are very friendly and attentive.
Con’s:
We upgraded to ocean front villa 47 and room needs a huge overhaul.
You could not get a chair at the main pool if you didn’t reserve early enough.
At 6 am all the s[... read more]haded loungers were taken.
The water at the pool was way too warm. Not cooling at all.
Wish there were staff available bring drinks around pool and beach.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Nice resort
This hotel is very nice, but have some problems with the elevators, sometimes do not work and one time we had blackouts. Also in the hotel corridors people leave always plates with food on the floor, that they bring to the room and leave it out with leftovers food.
The food at the buffet is good and there is a lot of variety.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: OK RESORT
Overall was an ok vacation but pricey for what you get in my opinion. The food was only ok. Buffet was packed, line ups etc. Same food everyday. The low end liquor was horrible. Pop was flat, juice wasn’t juice was tang. Massive
cockroaches in the room. And not sure if this was weather related but the beach water was brown. Couldn’t see the bottom of the ocean and I got stung by jellyfish ?. Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Mediocre resort
Rooms were not clean properly. There was hair in the sink stained on the bed linens and the AC was not working in our room. Then after showering there was water leaking from the shower lights and on the wall and ceiling in the room. We asked to be moved and they were going to put us in a room with lots of mold on the ceiling.
Food at the main buffet area was always cold. The a la carte restaurants were very good with hot food and the food was prepared well.
The staff was friendly and ver[... read more]y helpful.
The entertainment was live music and singing but nothing for teens to do.
The grounds were well taken care of and the pool was clean.
The Akumal was wonderful! We stayed in one of the new swim-up rooms and the pool was fantastic. We were very impressed by the layout of the resort, the food at the buffet, and the a la carte restaurants. There was also lots of wildlife- it was very exciting! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely reccommend!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very nice resort
We were there during the recent hurricane and the hotel did an amazing job both in preparations for it and the clean up afterward. Did feel there could have been a bit better communication after it.
There is definitely some repairs needed throughout the resort but it was clean and you could tell they were trying.
Did have an issue with ordering Gluten free pancakes but they were very good with tell me what was gf.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Huge Resort with lots of variety for food!
We had an amazing week at Bahia Principe Akumal. Its our first time travelling with our 20 month old so we had alot of concerns and requests to make our stay more convenient. We requested to be on the ground level as I found out doing my research that there are no elevators so it would be really hard to get up and down with stroller and everything else. It was really thoughtful they did place us somewhere convenient and close to the station where u take the shuttle. We were in 6501 ocean front ,[... read more] which was upgraded for free due to re-scheduling because of the hurricane.
Everyone is really nice and friendly in the hotel. The kids club people were really awesome, they let us drop in with our baby just to hang around because she is still too little to be dropped off. Our servers Eric, Jesus for breakfast and Jose and G for lunch and for dinner Hector.
They were all very attentive and had a high chair ready for us soon as we walked in.
Our hotel room was dated but it was very well maintained. Our mini bar is always fully stocked. I requested to have lots of water so i can make a bottle for my daughter every night and also our room was kept clean and with fresh towels daily.
The resort is huge so studying the map is necesarry because the signs are fairly small and easily missed. Especially since you will have access to all other resorts such as coba, tulum and sian kan adults only. My baby loved the waterpark in tulum. There are no kids waterpark in akumal but there are plenty of swimming areas with shallow ends.
The beach is amazing! But dont forget your water shoes. Glad i did my research and got my family aqua shoes because oh boyy the rocks are not fun. There were kids and people getting cuts on their toes and some lady even got a really bad one, it got infected. Otherwise, the ocean is beautiful, its got a man made barrier so you dont get the huge waves. It was the highlight for me! As im a beach person. Be careful with the sand my daughter had a lot of sand flea bites by sitting on it for too long. I should have made her wear a body suit. On that note, the bug bites! There are lots and also mosquitos at night attacking our feet while we hang out in the lobby as well as theatres. Bring lots of good bug spray. Its really really warm this time of the year i got me one those tiny electric fans from amazon. They were life savers.
The food in general was amazing! Lots and lots of variety. I ate fish and seafood everyday. They were so fresh here. The meats are hit and miss sometimes it tends to be too dry but over all flavours were still really good. Lots of fresh fruits and desserts daily and the best iced coffee at the coffee shop! Breakfast has so much variety.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Good resort
The grounds were spacious and well maintained. There was a large variety of food and it was good. The fresh juices were occasionally watered down. The staff were good and courteous. The service was extremely slow for check in and other requirements at the front desk. The room service was bad. For every service there were different staff. Therefore much time was spent chasing for sevice.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: High expectations
Disengaged staff and poor dining experiences really hindered our stay and our experience. Without a reservation to a restaurant, there was only 1 place to eat dinner, and the food was bland, and poorly made. We expected much more from the largest resort in the carribean.
