Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Good hotel! Friendly service!

hotel room was clean. Toilet clogged a few times. Friendly staff. Beach was great except for constant vendors selling their wares. Food was good. went on 3 excursions bought from vendor on beach & had no difficulties. weather was super-very hot.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Clean family friendly resort

We had a great trip and a great experience. The resort was larger than we originally thought it was but once you figured out where everything was it was great: staff was amazing and so helpful, always willing to help anyways they could.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Nice and relaxing

The property overall was ok. Upsides were the spa pool area, hammocks, decent beach, the food was ok. Downsides lobby bar not free, only one room key allowed, the constant vendors on the beach, no free WiFi (convenient for staying in touch with kids). We did meet some great people and that made it more enjoyable.

The staff are friendly,very good and energetic. BUT. This place needs a complete renovation. Cracked shower base, leaking roof during rain, chipped and broken tile around pools. The list goes on. Food is ok. Blue Bay hotels should be embarrassed.

Blue Bay Club Los Angeles Locos: Fantastic staff!!!

This is the third time we have stayed at this resort and we were treated like kings!! They were there for our every need, they have even improved it since the hurricane and replaced all the mattresses!

The food at the buffet and the a la carte restaurant was very good. Lots of choices and we were never hungry at anytime of the day. The rooms were clean and fresh towel suppled each day. Beach towels too. The grounds of the resort were well maintained and staff always had friendly smiles.

At first look at our room we noticed the toilet seat was just about falling off the toilet. My husband tightened it up. After a few nights we found out there was a large group of Spanish students(168). A lot of them located on our floor. As there was a 24hr bar at the resort we found "drunk" young people (not sure how many of them were actually of age)coming back to their rooms at all hous with no regard for any of the other "paying" guests. They did move us to another building after we Made a formal complaint which lasted a few says until the next large group of students booked in, many again in our newly relocated building. We once again found ourselves calling down for security to deal with the partying. The pools were very nice and the staff there was very attentive. When we ventured down to the beach we found ourselves walking over seaweed, other natural debri and much discarded man made garbage. We found this for the whole length of the beach. On some of the other resorts we have visited we saw staff every morning working hard at cleaning the debri up. Not a tough task using a rake,shovel and wheelbarrow. We saw no indication of clean up effort on the beach at this resort. A big part of going to the Mayan Riviera was being able to snorkel. The ocean off the beach appeared dirty most of the time with no visibility so this was a big disappointment for us. This is nothing the resort could control but one more reason we would not go back or recommend.

The room I stayed in was not the cleanest. The floors were not scrub every time the maid cleaned the room. This is the first resort where I had to pay for wi-fi for the second device.The time shares personnel are located in the front lobby and throughout the resort and they are very pushy.It did matter how many times we said no we were not interested to stop bugging us they would still bug us.The front lobby never had any small bills to exchange. They would tell you to come back tomorrow every t [... read more]ime.The pool at the back of the resort did not have hand rails to get into the pool,the hand rails were located approximately 3 feet from the edge of the pool. So you would have to step down into the pool without any hand rails. The pool down at the beach only had two locations that had the hand rails right at the edge of the pool.The pool at the beach was huge.We only spent two days at the beach pool because there was an odour that smelt like sewer. The pool side waiters were hit and miss. They did not come around very often.We were there for two weeks. The staff for the restaurants were great.

First time at this resort and we enjoyed every aspect - entertainment, beach, food. The only glitch was upon arrival our room was not as expected. I have never seen a Caribbean room without a balcony and cannot understand why that kind of "standard" room should even exist. We got it sorted out the next day to our satisfaction with the help of the Sunquest rep Alvelso. After that it was nonstop awesome. The food is excellent and varied. We found the wait staff professional and though they accepted tips, they didn't appear to be expecting them.. In one case, they almost seemed indifferent. The beach was groomed regularly and clean even with a rough ocean during the days we were there. There are beach merchants but once turned away, they did not usually continue to pester. There are also the time share people who will try to get you involved with the sales strategy. Use the same caution you would use for any door-to-door salesman. I would definitely recommend to friends and we fully intend to return next January.

All Ritmo Cancun Resort And Waterpark: great resort for the kiddies!

ROOMS WERE VERY CLEAN/COMFORTABLE The first room we had overlooked the street/parking lot and was located on the 3rd floor of the hotel. As we were travelling with my 74 year old Mother this was not exactly conducive. This room had 2 double beds and was also clean. But needed some updates. This room had an old TV,no balcony, no fridge, no coffee maker, no ironing board….basically NO FRILLS. I immediately went down to the front desk to ask about moving to a “standard room” on the main floor [... read more] as we were travelling with my Mom. They were incredibly accommodating. The front desk staff showed me a standard room on the main floor and offered for us to change immediately. This room was MUCH nicer than the original room. It had 2 queen size beds, a small kitchenette, flat screen TV a nice balcony (albeit it also overlooked the road), and a step down into a small living area with a pullout couch. I made the mistake of asking to see a room with an ocean view…..kiss of death!!! It was SO worth it! It had all the amenities (exact replica of the 2nd room) with a beautiful oceanview!! The upgrade was offered at an additional $25/night. It was steep….but worth it! Everything inside the room worked well. TV, phone, coffee maker, fridge, water pressure. All good! SERVICE Service was impeccable in ALL areas of the hotel. From the front desk staff, the bellhops, the bar service, food service. They even had bar service at the pools and they would bring it to your seat. I didn’t find that “tipping” was expected, but the level of service received if you tipped was top notch. Not like other destinations (like Jamaica and if you don’t have $$ out you don’t get a drink). I would say tipping was expected but it certainly was appreciated. I would recommend asking for things. Ketchup was hard to find outside of the snack bar but if you asked, it was always available. My son struggled finding things to eat outside of the snack bar and a couple of times I asked for peanut butter to make him a sandwich. Never a problem. GENERAL CLEANLINESS Overall you could tell the hotel spent considerable resources on maintaining the level of cleanliness in both the inside of the resort as well as the pool areas, washrooms etc. They maintained the beach by raking at least 2-3 times a day. It was VERY windy while we were there so there was some wash up but it was tended to and removed. The landscaping was also immaculate. It was incredibly overgrown in and around they have done an amazing job with the upkeep. FOOD This would be one of the only areas they really need to improve upon. I would say the food was “hit and miss”. Breakfast was always good. Everyone was able to find lots of things to enjoy. Same with lunch….although most days we had lunch at the snack bar so the kids were incredibly happy. Hot dogs, hamburgs (were REALLY good), chicken nuggets, French fries, finger foods. They also always had fruits and veggies. We did eat at the buffet at lunch a few days as well and the food was decent. I usually had no problem finding something to eat. Large selection of salad fixings which was where we usually landed at that time of the day. Dinner…..different story. The buffet was monotonous and the temperature of the food could have been much better. But again. hit and miss. Some nights were really good….some nights it was difficult to find something for everyone. That being said. We never went hungry! The a’la carte restaurants were few and far between. They only had 3 available at the resort and they rotated so each night was a different night. We tried the Mexican. It was a fail….for everyone! We also attended the Italian and it was the best meal we had all week……but that wasn’t saying much!!! ENTERTAINMENT Staff was very friendly but there wasn’t much interaction with the guests. They had nightly shows in the theatre across the road which weren’t great…..but the kids enjoyed them. They did have a dinner/show on Saturday night which was Michael Jackson. This was by far the best night of entertainment, but the food was a miss this night. Overall, we had a great time. I would say the information provided by tripadvisor was on par with this resort. It is a very small resort which made experiences with other travellers intimate. You really got to know who everybody was and so did the kids which was great for them. The pools were shallow enough that you didn’t have to be in the water with them. Although they could have been a tad bit warmer. The waterpark was AMAZING!!! We spent most of our days over there as the kids had a great time!!! This resort (other than the food) is completely geared towards the kids. I would NOT recommend this resort to those travelling without kids. in my opinion, I would rate this hotel overall at 3.5 stars. The service for me could bump this to a 4 star.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Needs some updating but food & service excellent!

The Blue Bay is definitely in need of some TLC. Our room had a musty smell however we didn't spend much time there and it didn't bother us once we ha been there a few days. The staff was wonderful. Efficient, happy, friendly and there is no lack of cleaning going on. Food also very very good both in the buffet and a la carte restaurants. Wifi in the room was almost non-existent which was disappointing. Beach in front of the resort was murky and rocky however just a 10 minute walk down the beach  [... read more]brings you to a gorgeous lagoon area with crystal blue water. We visited it twice during our week and it was one of the highlights.

All Ritmo Cancun Resort And Waterpark: Exceeded expectations!

This was a family vacation with our 5 year old daughter. First time doing an all inclusive. We had read all the reviews about this resort before we booked. We were very pleasantly surprised. When we arrived we asked for a room upgrade and received it. The staff throughout the resort were all amazing! Great service, very friendly and fun group of staff. The entertainers were especially great, Josua even had dinner with us one night. We would definitely recommend this resort to everyone! The resort itself is small compared to many others but lends itself to be a very intimate and personal experience as you get to know all the staff personally. The staff do an amazing job keeping the resort clean including the seaweed on the beach every morning. The food is good but does become repetitive and boring as the week goes on. Also they advertise that the resort has 4 restaurants when it only has two with the themes changing daily. The snack bars however were very good! The nightly shows were great, well done and often very funny. The entertainment staff do a great job of getting all the visitors involved in the shows and daily activities. We will definitely be returning!

the grounds were unbelievable nice structure and design. the food was top notch. All restaurants were clean and neat, well set up, the staff were friendly and great to talk to and entertaining. The entertainment was great at night and during the day the staff offered a variety of activities.

I've been to half dozen 4 star resorts in the Maya and this was one of the best of them . The grounds were very well kept as well as pools and buildings. Rooms were nice ,with best stocked fridge I've seen. Food was very good as well. The beach was nice , but the ocean itself was dirty ( Sandy) 3 of my 7 days ( I still went in ) . I've read alot of bad reviews but I say good bang for my buck . Some people got ridiculous standards and that ain't me

The grounds were spaced out perfectly. The food was good, wish they had served more bacon at breakfast...The staff were very friendly and never passed without saying hello. The entertainment crew did an amazing job.

This resort was very clean and the staff wanted to make sure you were comfortable. The resort had everything you need. The Black and White entertainment area was so much fun. The night entertainment was fun right on the beach. Any age group will enjoy this resort

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: A really nice resort but requires improvements

I was impressed with my stay at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda five years ago, however my second trip this past week showed the resort was definitely starting to show it's age. On the other hand, the food was great and the service excellent, despite the Swing Bar tenders getting completely overwhelmed when one of their blenders died (again). Another issue I had was the workers not having the correct tools for cleaning the pool.

Our room was very nice, clean, and our maid gave us what we need every day.He definitely went out of his way to make us happy. At the restaurant you got amazing service. We like the service so much we left tips. The food was a 4 out of 5, my boyfriend agrees with me. The grounds were super clean. All the workers there work really hard at there jobs. They make this resort a great vacation place.

Hotel very clean, well kept. Friendly staff, helpful. Food was good. Only downside was venders on the beach. As well as trying to be sold more trips through "circle one" very pushy and use the guise of "hotel information" to get you to talk to them. Advice: Decline any propositions unless you are interested. Excusions were fun. We booked one through air transat, and one through beach vendors. Both were fine but transat was put more professional. Great vacation overall.

We were at Blue Bay in 2013 and had a great time travelling with friends. We said we would never go back to the same resort twice, but after trying Cuba last year and seeing Blue Bay priced below $1000 out of Toronto it was a no-brainer...we we enjoyed it even more! So the cons. If you're going just for the beach, go elsewhere. The beach really does suck. You need water shoes and even then there are some big rocks. The French alacarte was the toughest to book but honestly was out least favorite. That's it for cons! Pro's! The people were so hospitable and friendly, simply wonderful. The breakfast buffet is awesome. Always being replenished, minimal lineups (most I had in front of me at omelet station was four people). The fruit was great, always a variety each day and the people are always cleaning up. The ala cartes were the best we've had (except for the French, it was a disappointment). The rooms were always cleaned, mini bar stocked and fresh towels daily. At the pool, there were always loungers available and never a time you couldn't get a fresh beach towel. Burgers at pool side BBQ were excellent with fresh condiments (fried onions, jalapeno's, lettuce, tomato, pickle, cheese etc) Check in was painless, check out was easy. Great fitness centre and the spa area is excellent. And only 40 minutes from Cancun, so comfortable bus ride. Complex laid out well allowing for some walking after a large meal however you always had the option of taking a shuttle if you so chose. We would definitely return. Dave
