Hotel Bella Costa: Excellent

We found the grounds were very clean. The staff were very very friendly. Fell in love with the guy that served the pasta in Jimmy's restaurant. Amazing the way he did his job. He had 4 frying pans going at one time, throwing the tongs in the air, clapping his hands, all while making your meal. He was very friendly to everyone and real cute to boot. Our rooms were very clean the only thing was we hardly had any hot water for our showers. Overall we had a wonderful time there. Even got a pic with  [... read more]me and the pasta guy lol. Hotel Bella Costa: Very nice resort!

Overall everything was very good. The food was the best I had in Cuba. The Havana day trip was very informative. The only down was too many kids because of March break but I still had a good time and the price was right.

Hotel Los Cactus: Very limited choice at the buffet

It is our 4th times in Cuba and our expectation for food was low . We eat to survive and we are not fussy eater. When there is not even lettuce in a buffet, that is how bad it was. The a la carte menu were not better. It would compare this hotel to a Dominican Republic hotel 25 years ago.

Hotel Los Cactus: Beautiful location and an amazing resort!

We've traveled to numerous destinations for our hot destination and Breezes Varadero was by far our favourite. While it wasn't the most built up resort when compared to Mexico or Dominican, it had a comforting feeling like we were at home. The room were clean, food decent, and staff beyond friendly and willing to help. The resort by far has the best beach I have been too, all in close proximity to Varadero for night time fun. Highly recommended!

Hotel Los Cactus: Great resort !!

We had a great time, staff was super nice and food was good I mean some things weren't that great but its cuba so we didn't go there with high food expectations! midnight buffet wasn't good wish they had better options! Beach was beautiful and big! Quiet resort if you're looking for the young party crowd this isn't the resort for you the age group seems to be 40+ which I mean wasn't bad because it was a peaceful sleep & the hot tub by the bar was always free in the evening! no discoteca on resor [... read more]t for that reason I'm assuming. Prices for their excursions were reasonable had an amazing time on all of those! Going back in 2016 to this resort too!

Memories Jibacoa: The people who work here make the resort amazing

Very average resort, it is clean and well kept. The food was average, better than expected. The entertainment and activities were excellent. We enjoyed the hike in the morning, hobbicat sailing with guide twice, tennis lessons three times, car racing on the beach , darts. Off the resort we were set up by staff to go to Havanna, the crocodile reserve and bay of pigs all in a 1951 cadillac with driver and english speaking guide ,a great experience. Beautiful sandy beach with shade and great snorkling.The staff at this resort go out of thier way to make your stay exeptional.

Hotel Los Cactus: Excellent Resort

We booked and stayed at Breezes Jibacoa beginning Feb 28, 2015. Upon arrival at the airport in Veradero at 6:30pm, we easily found our van and driver that was there to take us to the resort. We quickly found out that pedestrians do not have the right away! It was a short 45 minute ride to the resort. Upon arrival at the resort we were greeted by a very friendly lady at the front desk, who said 'Welcome Home'! Check-in was very easy, taking only minutes, I am sure it helped that we were the only [... read more] guests arriving at that time. The bellman quickly took us to our room, showed us around the room, light switches and how to operate the air conditioner, making sure we were comfortable before leaving. Our room was fabulous, very clean and in excellent repair. We paid for an ocean view upgrade, the view was absolutely stunning and only steps from the beach. We were in building 10 (2176), top floor (2nd floor) in a corner unit. Our only minor complaint may have been the loud air conditioning unit on the building next to us. A small coffee pot was supplied in the room, we loved being able to get up in the mornings and have coffee on our patio with a view. Our chambermaid, Alyse, was incredible. Friendly, welcoming, accommodating and very grateful (without expectation) for the small gifts of pecos, clothing, perfume, personal items, toys etc. that we left daily. It seemed that our comfort and enjoyment was a priority for her. The resort was quite small, easy to get around to anything, we loved it. The grounds very nicely maintained, the gardening staff as friendly and helpful as any other staff there. It is in a very safe country area, totally safe to leave and walk around outside the resort, the farmers and locals exceptionally friendly. Many area residents had tables set up in front of their homes selling jewelry and different souvenirs. A couple of the homes had small restaurants set up at the front of them, great food. We enjoyed a night of lobster and shrimp dinner with one of those locals named Armando. When we first arrived we found the evening buffet food horrible, stone cold and tasteless. However, the food at the beach bar was very good, we had lunch there each day. The waiters there were awesome! Breakfast was always good, an incredible guy making omelettes and eggs to order. After our second day there, we noticed several 'official' looking new faces running around the resort, carrying papers and on cell phones. We heard from other guests that the resort had been sold and was taken over by 'Memories', which is owned by Sunwing. I did speak to one of the ladies after a much improved buffet dinner, she told me she was from Montreal, Canada and was there to improve the food and resort, she was glad we saw improvement in the food and would pass the message to the chef's, stating they had brought in a new chef from another resort. We were happy that she appeared to be very nice and friendly not just to guests but also to the existing staff. Another skinny little fellow with glasses that was with her a lot (they appeared to be a team), didn't seem so nice to the staff, and paid no acknowledgement to the guests. We would often see him gesturing to the waiters, waitress's and other staff to smile. He would have done well to lead by example and smile himself. The beach area was very nice, somewhat rocky in some areas. The days we spent there was very windy, mostly starting around noon. The best time for snorkeling or swimming was in the mornings. Once the wind came up there was MANY jelly fish, Man of War, washing up onto the beach. We saw many people who were stung, the resort nurse rushing them into the hot tub, apparently warm water stops the stinging and pain. The one life guard was kept busy trying to get people out of the water. They would warn people over the loud speaker that the jelly fish were coming. You could actually see them glistening in the sunlight on top of the water, coming towards shore, their sails being blown by the wind. A highlight of our trip was a ride in an old car for a day tour of Old and New Havana, and other attractions in Havana. We got hooked up for this by one of the staff at the resort. It cost us only 70 pecos for a driver and an English speaking personal tour guide. They made our day amazing and we would highly recommend. On our 3rd day, we were approached by the resort staff to take an offer of going to another 'Memories' resort in Veradero, it would be beautiful they said. We declined, as we liked our resort and area very much. They said that this was a special offer, only available now to us because of the new affiliation with Memories/Sunwing. They said it was an opportunity of a lifetime, and at no charge. The following day they began to pressure us more, approaching us several times. Later that evening they intensified the pressure, asking us again and again to please consider moving to another resort and help them out as they had overbooked the resort. Again they promised how wonderful it would be, and everything would be taken care of including transfers there to the new resort and then to the airport to catch our flight. Unfortunately in hind sight, we accepted their offer of an even better experience. That is where our trouble began. We packed up and left the next day. In addition to us, there were about 6 or 8 other guests who also took the offer. We were loaded onto a bus and transported to Memories Resort in Veradero. The moment we stepped off the bus we all knew that we had made a mistake. It was a horrible experience from start to finish, and not a nice way to complete the vacation. The staff at Jibacoa would do well to understand where they are sending their guests, then they might not do it.

Hotel Bella Costa: Good holiday

Beach was beautiful. Perfect weather. Food better than expected. Resort, including rooms, older and dated. Room very spacious but somewhat dark and dampish. Problem with toilet and patio door dealt with promptly. Night time entertainment was pretty good. Michael Jackson tribute was excellent.

Hotel Los Cactus: Fantastic Vacation !

Our stay was over all pretty amazing . Grounds were beautiful lush tropical plants , buffet was really good and one night there was a lobster feast . Also crab and prawns every night . Entertainment was pretty good , 24 hr sandwich bar a burger/hot dog hut during the day (burgers are the bomb!). The discotecca was the highlight , had a blast there!!! . Coffee shop was delicious with the Spanish coffee and coffee with Catalana (baileys type liquor). The only negative to the resort was there isn't [... read more] a lot of communication with tourists about times of events also there was no bell boy to help us or show us to our room .buy a phone card before travelling as they only sell them downtown town and they were sold out . It was hard contacting our family to let them know we arrived alive!. Over all I was extremely happy with the resort !

Hotel Bella Costa: Amazing beach

Terrific time at the beach from March 4-11. The location on the water was perfect, only a five minute walk. The beach grill was okay, pizza and ice cream for the youngsters. The mini disco at night was fun for kids but daytime activities were lacking but no matter, they made sand castles or floated in the large clean swimming pool. The rooms with garden view were clean with comfortable new mattress. Slept soundly with earplugs after a day of playing at the beach. All in all 'twas a great vacation. When asking the youngster the best part, surprisingly, it was the jacuzzi plus friends.

Hotel Bella Costa: Nice resort

Resort was nice. If you are looking for a quiet holiday this is not the place. Lots of children. Could be the time of year. There is no adult section or adult pool as informed. Beach was beautiful. Food was adequate. Bar staff not too friendly. Maid service excellent.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Still a Jewel!

The resort is a wonderful destination for families with a beautiful beach, great activities, food and most of all an amaizing atmosphere. Everything is open air except for one a la carte. Never an issue to beach chairs at the pool or beach. On our departure day, the hotel was at full capacity and never did it feel over crowded. I recommend the Junior suites for families if you need the extra space (addition of cots). Memories Jibacoa: Fantastic resort

Excellent in all aspects. Clean, friendly service, very nice pool, nice mountain with view of the area. I would return certainly to this resort. Many of the staff speak French in addition to English (Spanish too of course). Nice and relaxing atmosphere.

Losing our paradise in Cuba early report: I and my dad have been at Jibacoa Memories since Feb 6th and are witnessing first hand the evolution of the new team. For context we never complains and reports the staff are still wonderful. As of this week the new manager, Julie is on-site. No last name offered. She spent 10 years at Memories Havana. Very puzzling to be told the first few weeks that she was waiting for a Cuban visa. Staff are no longer allowed to have any human contact with clients no  [... read more]more hugs, this is Cuba not Russia, This evening without notice , lobster night was canceled. A cold buffet was offered, cold cuts, cheese and olives. The pork was so tuff that my Dad choked and the meal was left on the table. Do not forget we usually go to this resort for 4 to 5 weeks a year ( we are talking almost a ($10,000) get away every year. Even off season with my wife would attend the resort in June and July at premium pricing of over ($3,500). So we know the service the staff and the food. The wine was not palatable. The wine was returned and no substitute was offered. By the way, a memories theme song is sung by the managers. It appears that most of the food being brought in is frozen. Not sure where this is an improvement from past fare. The old staff is bring assigned to new duties. Why fix what was not broken and overlook the obvious?. Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.I asked me to post this immediately this evening of the 4th of March on facebook to maybe wake up management I spoke to Julie the new manager a Canadian next day, she offered no excuse except it was all contract issues. Memories can not copy Super club services. Julie stated she has been in Cuba 10 years and never had no complaint's, we were offered a lobster diner for our issues. Through sources I was notified that the lobster had in deed arrived but it was being kept for special guest only. Well when you are paying premium pricing for a resort everybody should be a special guest. The staff never complained and continued to do what they could for us with what they had at hand. Julie brought in a specialist to show staff how to set a table correctly, staff does not need to know how to set a table they know how. But the food that goes into the plates is more important then the placing of utensils. With the crashing loonie the exchange rate is becoming prohibitive to most. The rooms are now infested with bugs and I have the wealth's all over my body to prove it. This is an early wake up call to the new Memories folks. We go to Jibacoa to be at home with our friends. Not for a cold buffet, bad wine and a sing song,.If we want Disney Land we would go to Disney land. The last morning we were served cold poached eggs, and frozen MacDonald's special potatoes. What next?? We are watching. My warmest regards to our Cuban friends, they deserve so much better. New Managers wake up now!! Are we returning I doubt it very much. I love our Cuban friends but This Canadian company have turned this paradise into a $500 dollar a week resort with cheap liquor and nothing you can call food. The good food is only for special guest?? MY QUESTIONS IS WHO IS A SPECIAL GUEST. This will be a great resort for the 18 to 30 year olds that want to drink and not eat. To blame contracts and the change over of managers in today's age is not only unprofessional but down right lazy. Another troubling issue is that I understand enough Spanish to understand that most employees will be replaced by temp workers from all over the world, AKA cheap labour. Memories is buying up most of the island resorts waiting for the American influx, hate to tell you but Americans will never put up with this type of food or service. I hesitated to post this because of our wonderful family in Cuba but someone has to speak up for them.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Beautiful vacation

Sunscape Curacao Resort was very nice and all staff are very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel grounds, beach. The only thing is we were travelling with our 1.5 year old son and there weren't any kid friendly pools for him to play in. Also we had asked to have his dinner to come out before all of ours and it wouldn't and he was hungry or would be soo tired fall asleep without dinner. Mattress completely worn out which wore on us by day 7 staff awesome resort needs some tlc and would return Have to do something about all the birds in buffet while standing in line the sparrows were on edge of grease hood relieving them selfs into the cooked pastas I just pretended I was at picnic but the amount of birds was a bit too much

Memories Jibacoa: Friendly resort

The grounds and public areas were well maintained. The rooms were nice ( overlooked the pool and the entertainment area ) and we understand that they are in the process of updating the rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good but not the selection you find in Mexico and Dominican Republic. The beach was nice for swimming and strolling. Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Amazing time at Grand Lido

The hotel was clean, the rooms are huge, especially for 1 person. I went there with my husband a few years back and the staff remembered me. They are truly nice, funny and great cooks. There are 2 areas to the hotel. A quiet side and a clothing optional side. It was a choice, but you never felt uncomfortable. The food was awesome at the asian and italian restaurant and the bbq's at the beach and the pool. I loved that there was a coffee restaurant with espresso and spanish coffee. I walked the l [... read more]ovely beach and felt completely safe alone because security makes sure I give my room number when I leave and come back. Oh ya, they have grapefruit and cranberry juice. Not many places offer that. I didn't spend any time at the pools as the beach is amazing. So calm and you can swim all day, but wear sunscreen. It tricks you when you're in the water. Over all, very VERY satisfied.

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Fantastic beach

Its a really nice beach and very quiet/private albeit on the smaller side. Good snorkelling right off the beach. The resort is very well managed and everyone will have fun. Food is decent but nothing exceptional so are the drinks. For the price you won't go wrong specially with kids.
