Terrible

Grounds good. Dinning terrible. Service in any bar was bad. My room was floode twice when it rain. Cleaning staff were good. The seafood alla carte was closed. Did not have ingreadiants for bloody mary. Beer was warm

OK Spot

We ended up in the main building. Very noisy, rooms are in poor condition, they turn the hot water off at night, 11pm to 6am there's no hot water but they won't admit to doing it. I don't care if they do that, just really don't like being lied to about it. We arrived at 1am and couldn't get a shower. Food was ok, Cafes were pretty good. Comfortable resort

Overall quite nice but public restrooms not very clean and at times without toilet paper. Check in service has improved recently but front desk staff are overworked, not enough people on duty. We were upgraded to villa section because bungalow section was closed at the time. Specialty restaurants are quite nice and with good service. Nightly entertainment was good.

Not for the physically impaired!

I was travelling with my sister who has had knee replacement surgery and was waiting for a second knee replacement. This resort is very big with different sections. We were put in the "Barracks" which is very far from the main building and the older part of the resort. Rooms are small, smell of mold and the beds are old with springs sticking out! Ask for the Villas or the Bungalows. They are newer and cleaner.Luckily we were able to move to the main building for about 70 CUC. The rooms are very  [... read more]small and are not wheel chair friendly. There is an elevator for the 2nd floor of the main building where the buffet is located. There was always a good variety of food being served. We tried the different snack bars and buffets and they were mostly good. There are many stairs leading to a long beautiful beach where it is beautiful and one can have long walks. Our problem was getting to the beach. There are a lot of stairs going down from the main lobby and stairs going down from the pool area to the beach. It was hard to negotiate the stairs for anyone having problems with mobility. We did spend time at the quiet pool close to the snack place. The pool was clean and easy to get in and out. As for the other pools, one the water was green and the other was dirty with a lot of broken glass on the edge of the pool. We did not go to the "Barrack's" pool because it was too far to walk. The staff is friendly but not well organised. We were told they had 2 banks on the resort to convert our money to CUC's. In reality only one was opened and never at the time advised. The week we stayed there, one family was asked to leave the resort after a night at the disco. A young lady from Ontario called a man from Nova Scotia the N word and a fight started between the wife and the young lady. Only the family from Nova Scotia was asked to leave the resort. The management and the rep did not help them find alternative accommodations. Even the taxis on the resort were told by management not to drive this family anywhere. They had to walk quite far with their 2 infant children to the main road to flag a taxi at night. I found the management did not treat this fairly as they didn't ask the young lady from Ontario to leave. There is a huge outdoor market 5 minutes from the resort. The vendors change daily. There are beautiful souvenirs to be found there. If you book your stay at the Club Amigo Atlantico, ask for the villas or the Bungalows. Don't have high expectations and be very patient!

Friends

10- 12 times there not much reson to go else where.Great people ,friendly ,manors ,polite , family driven. The food is so so but there is always something you will like, the ice cream and the breaqd is better then here. The beach is great night or day , small reefs for snorcling. The rooms are simple , all I do is sleep and shower there , too much out side of the room to do. Its cheap try it , you will see why there are so many return guests.

Club Amigo Guardalavaca

Our family stayed at this resort March 19 - March 28, 2014, additional 2 days due to a storm in Nova Scotia. This was our ninth time to this location. Amazing staff who go out of there way to make the guest stay relaxing and enjoyable. Anna the head hostess @ the restaurant located in the Bungalow section is truly amazing. Constantly going out of her way to help with any need, above and beyond her responsibly. Always with a smile. We will be back for many years in the future.

Home Away From Home

My Fiance and I went here for the first time and I was expecting an Okay time , but it turned out to be my favorite trip of all. We stayed in the older part of the hotel and it wasn't a Five Star , needed some work , nothing major , but the friendliness and the Ambiance more than made up for it . We had the best time ever , there was more than enough to do with different restaurants , pools , bars , beautiful beaches and it was so laid back , some other places were just too busy and pressured. Great Value, recommended.

Cool,comfortable and quiet bungalow with access to everything. Great snorkelling, better than expected food available. Good housekeeping and friendly staff. Glad to go back another time. Our kids, young adults, enjoyed everything with the exception of a sewer smell outside of their bungalow door.

Amazin NATURE & people

if you are looking for luxury - this is not the place to find it, but EVERYTHING ELSE is just fantastic! rooms are bellow modest - so you don't spend time there :-) but well kept and clean... food is somewhat average and a bit boring, not enough FISH and other SEA food... high point = YOGURT :-) pow point = bread... swim up bar was my HEAD OFFICE (10:00 to 4:00) :-) it in the middle of everything and close to the BEAUTIFUL SANDY BEACH where you go for salt tasting and walks! Worst vacation ever

I was not treated well at the club Amigo I had no hot water in my shower told them everyday .food was awful staff was not friendly. Waste of good hard earned money and I love cuba would not go back there

A good deal on economy pricing

Overall, for a 3 star Cuban hotel, I find it great, large and accommodating. Since it is only a 3 star, of course it's not top rate, but for those who only want to vacation economy class, it has pretty much all to offer for a reasonable price. I have gone back there four times in 5 years now.

Friendly warm resort

the resort is great , food is good , people are awesome, and the beach is fantastic. the room needs a little updating , but overall the trip was amazing . the weather was hot and sunny , service at all the amenities was really good.

Good trip

Good location, good beach, good service. easy going, good price. I, 91 years old, have been there several times. I will be there again in November. I took part in excursions. The internet is too slow.

Great value!

Be sure to book either a villa or a bungalow close to the beach and you won't be disappointed. Resort is great value for money and although it is older it won't disappoint if you aren't expecting 5 stars. The food was surprisingly quite good and above our expectations.

Friendly and safe

It is always a pleasure to return to Club Amigo. This time we booked in the Villas as it was best suited for our family. People were friendly and the food had improved from the last stay two years ago. I disliked the fact that there was a considerable amount of black mold growing on the walls of our rooms keeping a musty smell at all times. Didn't expect much, had a nice trip.

Arrived late at night at the hotel, but several employees were there for the two buses that arrived, check-in was efficient. We booked a villa and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We happened to have a room with two bathrooms and a separate living room with sofas, tables and chairs. Perfect for our little family. Food was ok, we tried several "À la carte" restaurants, they offered almost the same menu, don't expect too much. The buffet in the bungalow section had the best food in our  [... read more]opinion. The restaurant in the villa section serve the best breakfast and the waitresses were very nice. We would go back, it's only a 3 stars, if you don't expect too much, you won't be disapointed.

Old and Tired

This resort is past it's prime. It's old and falling into disrepair. The hotel rooms all have problems. We traded rooms 3 times, and then accepted a room that was the least terrible. Many smokers made it stinky to walk around in the foyer.

OK overall, but bedding for the first night was so moldy we could not sleep at all. It too a lot of energy from us to change the motel unit. Nice beach, decent food, but too big and too crowded. The staff were friendly.

Amazing resort but disappointed!

This is my 6 or 7th time to this resort. I go because of the friends I've made there over the years. The resort grounds are beautiful and most of the staff are amazing. The only downside of this trip was we had virtually no hot water for showering all week. I had read somewhere that the resort turned off the hot water at night. I don't sleep well and sometimes get up early and try and have a hot bath to go back to sleep. Imagine my shock when at 5 a.m. in the morning all I could bath in was ice  [... read more]cold water. 3rd year back to Amigo

This was our 3rd time at Club Amigo. We went with Trip Central through Gail Meister in Wolfville. We always go through the Trip Central site because with their "Vacation Selection Grid " it's easy to compare prices, areas and time plus all prices are always upfront without hidden costs and taxes included. We always go to Cuba because it is safe, friendly and you can usually book an all inclusive resort for 2 weeks for about the same price as 1 week in other Caribbean Islands. As always the staff [... read more] and local people are wonderful and the rooms clean and a good selection in food. Last year was our 10th time to Cuba and it won't be the last. Gail was a big help in getting a place for the budget which we had to work with. Amigo has a lot to do and great nightly entertainment, tours, local vendors and other things. It's nice to take the tours in the local towns as the area is so safe and you can wander around anywhere. The local people are so friendly and there is always a warm feeling there because of them. My wife and I are boring people and are happy to lie on the beautiful beaches or pools with a book. We just go to enjoy the sun, warmth and wonderful people. Looking at other reviews I believe some people just go to complain . . WE DON'T!" If you want to go and overpay for your vacations go to other sites. Trip Central has always been our site. and you know right up front what you're paying. 31/2 Stars and up are recommended. We're looking at Don Lino next winter a small resort with good reviews.
