Awesome resort

It was a wonderful experience the food was delicious , the service excellent the people were friendly and helpful, the rooms were very comfortable. Would go back in a flash .I will definitely tell my friends and family.

Perfect for teh family

The hotel was big but never over crowded. The beaches were great and the best part was the snorkelling was fantastic. Perfect conditions for kids to snorkel in a safe bay. Rooms were great. Tennis courts were good too and you could get private lessons if you wanted.

Would not go back.

The pools, grounds and food was good. The service, cleaniness of room and beach not so good. The flight with Air Transit not so good. Bought the Option Plus upgrade and then had to prove that I had it. They were assuming I was trying to lie. Was not too impressed

Great resort!

Good food, clean facilities, great beach, friendly staff. We were short on towels and our fridge wasn't always rwstocked, but we got good service as soon as we called down to the front desk. Overall we had a great time!

Terrific Resort

Great resort at an affordable price.We enjoyed every day here.Mainly we just relaxed enjoyed great food,soaked up the sun ,met interesting people.the staff was very friendly and accomodating. My only complaint was the resort was selling time share vacations and the sales women were persistent ,beautiful , but persistent.

Grand Hotel, All Inclusive - Not Quite

Beautiful hotel and grounds with adjoined buildings and elevator service. Service was formal and missed that tropical feeling and friendliness of staff. Extra charges if you are not booked in Club Diamond or Gold: safe fee is $6.00/per day and requires a $50.00 deposit; one hour Wi-Fi per day only without charge (only available in the lobby) exclusive bars and restaurants to Club Diamond or Gold and Privilege members. Worthwhile to upgrade if you need these services, however I do not see how a r [... read more]oom safe can be considered an option when travelling. High level of security present on every hotel floor in the evening and around the grounds by day.

Beautiful Resort

Food was amazing, always something good to eat. Pools lovely. Sea clear, and you could walk out far, great for children. Active resort, never a dull moment if you are on the entertainment side. Kids club activities were great for our 8,10 year old.

Ok but not a five star

Rooms and grounds were very nice. Food was fantastic. Drinks were OK, bartenders only put a little splash in the drinks. Resort is very large and only one section has a nice beach. Evening entertainment was terrible for such a large resort. We found the staff not friendly at all compared to smaller resorts we have been to in Jamaica. Day time entertainment was also lacking compared to other Jamaican resorts.

Great people, great place

We had a wonderful time at this resort. We couldn't believe how friendly everyone was. They really went out of their way to ensure we had a great time! The buffet was impressive, with lots to choose from. Close to the airport and excursions. Beach was beautiful! Only downfall to our trip was that something went missing from our luggage.

Wedding Week at The Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica!

We just returned from our wedding week at the Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica. We had a fabulous time and aside from a few hiccups everything went smoothly. Our wedding day was wonderful and the wedding coordinator was amazing. She took care of every detail and it all went off without a hitch. Our photos are beautiful and it was an incredible day! We had a few issues upon arrival with the suitcase with all of our wedding supplies going missing (tagged wrong by the staff but later returned by the pe [... read more]rson who received it, thank goodness) and rooming issues for our 2 year old child. But it all worked out in the end, so we didn't let it ruin our trip. The resort itself is beautiful, very big and impressive. You will do a ton of walking while there, and if you have children that are in a stroller, it can be a bit of a pain at times. The resort is a fairly new resort, however it is already showing a lot of wear and tear. The elevators are often smelly and the sewer backed up around the pool area two or three times during the week we were there and the smell was horrible. The staff if mostly friendly, aside from the ladies who work in the spa, who we all found to be very rude and unpleasant. However, the pool is gorgeous, the beach is very nice, the drinks and food are great and the rooms are a good size. Overall I will recommend the resort for the services they provided for the wedding, however if I could do it all again, I would have chosen a smaller resort. We will most likely not return to the resort when we go back to Jamaica in the future.

Amazing resort

The resort was beautiful. It was very clean and the staff was very friendly. We'd go again in a heartbeat. We both enjoyed the food very much. The beach was amazing. We were able to walk out a couple hundred yards and enjoy a sunset in the ocean.

Beautiful & Relaxing

The resort was really nice. Lots of choices for the food. Jerk chicken is amazing. I read all the reviews prior to going and we had no issues. We were on the top floor and it does have the best view but the air conditioning was not great but it did cool us down. If you like a long beach to walk upon this is not what you are looking for. Snorkeling was not the best but we did see some. Take a small water bottle full of bread and water and squeeze and fish will come to you. It is a lot of walking but once you find the short cuts its easy plus it helps to wear off all the food and drinks you have. Take high level sun screen you burn easy there.The catermeran & Duns River Fall trip was great was well worth taking. Lots of activity at the resort if you want to get involved. Stay clear of the time share ladies, the are very pushy. My husband and I loved the place and would recommend. Trip Central provides you contact numbers if something goes wrong, we did not need to use it but it is a comfort knowing they are there to help.

Both Good and Bad

The staff was hard-working, which made this overall a good experience. However, we dad to wait 1 1/2 hours past check-in for our room for no explicable reason. If it wasn't for Orando at the front desk we would have had to wait longer. Ended up getting in our room at almost 5 pm and our safe wasn't working (the handle wouldn't turn). At that point I was so frustrated I was almost in tears. We called maintenance and based on previous reviews were expecting quite a wait but to our surprise a worke [... read more]r showed up within ten minutes and fixed it. With the late entry to our room, we ended up losing most of our first day there, which was quite disappointing. Just enough time for a quick dip in the pool, which was fantastic. We were invited to the steakhouse by one of the workers while in the pool and ate there that night; the buffet stuff was just average but I had the salmon on the waiter's recommendation, which I really enjoyed (small portion but the appetizers and dessert are buffet style). The food overall was just average. I'm not a picky eater, but my friend is and she had trouble finding things she could eat. Some things looked good but didn't taste so great; most of the desserts are super sweet, even for someone who likes sweet stuff. Would recommend the Orchid buffet over the Palmyra as there are more choices and we found the service to be better. The outdoor lunch buffet was generally good - make sure you look at your jerk chicken before walking away because my friend's was pink (uncooked) inside. In my opinion, the best meal was at the Mikado (Japanese restaurant) - the sushi appetizer wasn't so good but the teppanyaki of various meats, veggies, and rice was great. Drinks were plentiful and we didn't feel the cups were too small as some previous vacationers have mentioned. The grounds were immaculate and the beach was great (the walk to the 'good' beach is really not as far as people make it seem - took us five minutes). That part of the beach has two separate bars that are close to the chairs, and yes there are people in the water selling souvenirs but they aren't a bother. We found them entertaining. We never had trouble finding free loungers at any time of the day at the beach, but at the pool the only free loungers were in the direct sun. Speaking of, bring SPF 60 or above and make sure you slather it on. I have an olive skin tone and was burned pretty badly within the first day - a week later still recouping. The staff generally provided great service; bartenders are hilarious. The women at the front desk always look like they couldn't be bothered, and the premium club women harass people as they walk through the lobby - we started avoiding it on the second day for that reason. We tried saying no politely, beating around the bush, being direct - none of it worked. If I said no the first five times I'm not interested! They really need to work on that. Our room keys stopped working twice - not so good when it's late at night and we wanted in the room. Was a simple fix at the front desk but again the staff there aren't so friendly. Overall I would stay here again if the price was right, but there are better deals to be had in Jamaica. Shop around!

Beautiful resort but

This resort was very big. lots of walking. he grounds are very beautiful but resort is a little dated. Definitely needs new furniture in lobby and lounges. Rooms are large but in need of maintenance. Our shower leaked, air conditioning dripped in room continuously (had to leave towel on floor until maintenance could come) ceiling pot lights kept falling out and dangling, Food and staff were excellent. Liquor was very limited no premium included. Had to pay for Canadian Club which was considered [... read more] their premium. Beach on far side of resort was very nice (small and man made).

Awesome place!

Gorgeous clean resort, friendly staff, lots of delicious food, and wonderful pool area. The only thing we disliked about the resort was the "sales pitch" and tour we felt pressured into doing. Other than that we would return again for sure!

Great trip to Runaway Bay!

This was our 2nd time to this property and after our 1st time, we had somewhat high expectations. This time we stayed for 10 days which was the best! They met or exceeded all our expectations! . Staff was engaging, pleasant and efficient, Food was great! Room and view were amazing! We were comp upgraded to Don Pueblo side for our suite and the housekeeping staff did a great job. Always had towels and no issues getting beach towels either. Beach is a distance ( for the best part of the beach) which we knew so no issue there. We enjoyed the walk. Security was always somewhere to be seen, both on the beach and on the property. Our only issue ( which was not a hotel issue) was that another guest helped themseves to one of our beach floaties while we at breakfast. I was not impressed! Never saw the flaotie for 8 days! The name Grand is absolutely appropriate

I got married there and it was amazing!!! The people were great and they really tried hard to ensure everyone had a great time at their resort. There were a few hip cups but even then the staff did what was needed to correct it. At times the staff were slow meeting everyone's demands but with that amount of customers it really is understandable. The resort makes you feel safe and appreciated. The only draw back is they should provide the safes in the room free of cost and ensure they rooms are e [... read more]quipped with coffee on a daily basis. The rooms were very clean and the grounds were superbly maintained. The weather was perfect and there was enough space for everyone to enjoy. Not a 5 star

The resort itself it very large. The rooms need maintenance in regards to the furniture, and bathrooms. We found the food in the buffets as well as the a la carte restaurants to be very good - lots of variety. The terrace has great nightly small bands that did not disappoint. However, we found the beach to be lacking. It just wasn't a 5 star calibre beach. The only thing that bugged me about this resort was the inconsistency of stocking coffee and the mini bar in the room. I need my coffee in th [... read more]e morning and to wake up and not have any was disappointing. Even after talking to the front desk about stocking coffee nothing ever came of it. Too bad.

Amazing holiday

We travelled for a good friends wedding. The ceremony was absolutely stunning. Overall this hotel is certainly a 4 star in my eyes. The only thing that would have made it better is knowing about the Gold Package and being offered the upgrade. Otherwise no complainants. The staff were amazing, grounds were well kept, and everything was so clean. Definitely would recommend it!

Beautiful place, service, staff are hit-and-miss

The resort itself is beautiful. Great pool, lobby, bars, beach, and restaurants. The rooms are nice but small things showed a lack of pride - running toilet, broken switches.. service was awesome sometimes and poor other times. Room services (daily stocking of the bar fridge, for example) was inconsistent. It was common to hear that they had run out of something, including at the bars.
