The hotel was really nice. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The food was really good. My only complaint is that they should have more staff that speak English and advertise their activities better. Also not much entertainment at night as advertised. The room was very clean. I would have liked a coffee maker in the room. Overall it was a very lovely and enjoyable resort and would return there.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Good resort and the price was right.
Have stayed in this hotel about 8 times, the last time was in 2020 where we had a three week stay booked but, as per advisory had to go home after two due to covid.
The hotel is in a lovely location, the hotel itself is quite old and is starting to show its wear it generally needs some TLC. There are six different buildings in this complex most with their own pools and sits right on the beach.
Every person on staff was very efficient and personable. The food was decent in the buffets but [... read more]often not warm enough. There are five a la carte restaurants at the Royal decameron. Italian, Mexican,Thai, Chinese and a restaurant that services mostly meat. They were all great.
The rooms were a good size and were cleaned daily by the housekeeping staff.
Lots to do in and around this hotel, the evening theatre shows were really well done.
We will be going back again

Grand Marival Emotions Resort and Suites: Family fun
The food was excellent. The LaPergola restaurant was fast service and a great option was a la carte breakfast. Dinner a la carte restaurants were fantastic. Rooms comfortably large, beds weren't totally comfy but OK. All staff very friendly. Pools very clean and perfect temp. Soft sand and beautiful gold shimmery. I would recommend to anyone.

Krystal Puerto Vallarta: Nice resort
The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were clean. The buffets were adequate but the Italian restaurant was amazing and the French restaurant was phenomenal. The Asian restaurant was not worth going to. My biggest complaint about the food is that it was never hot, everything was barely warm.
The staff was friendly but didn’t really give you any information about the resort. We learned more from the other guests. They did not have much for entertainment. We were in bed early every night [... read more]as there was nothing to do after dinner.
This resort is in a good area, close to shopping and only a short bus ride to the Malacon.
If you are looking for a truly Mexican family friendly resort and aren’t looking to party late into the evening then this is a resort for you. For the price this is good resort.

Krystal Puerto Vallarta: A solid 3.5-4 star
Rooms and common areas very clean and mostly well groomed grounds. Ala carte restaurants fantastic. Staff wonderful. Would have liked to see coffee pots and supplies in room. Entertainment totally lacking. I think employees should monitor people staking out chairs for the whole day without spending any time at all in the chairs/ lounges - very difficult to find a place to sit and lounge. Why does the resort take bands off at 11 when our shuttle doesn’t pick us up until 3 pm- that means n[... read more]o lunch prior to leaving.

Crown Paradise Club: Decent resort
The grounds we well kept and clean. The rooms are slightly outdated, however housekeeping did a great job keeping them looking as best as they could. The buffet was ok. Unfortunately they would advertise theme nights that never materialized. The service was excellent, friendly and courteous. Beach and pools amazing. Overall this is a great place for family and a quieter more relaxing vacation

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Very disappointing
The resort was very run down and out dated. The room door could not be locked. There was no exhaust fan in the bathroom so the mirror would stay fogged up all day. The beds were uncomfortable. The food was not good anywhere in the resort. It was cold and tasteless with little variety. We ate mostly of the resort. The entertainment was very unprofessional and not entertaining. The beach was very rough. All of the pool side chairs were reserved by 8 am and the pool was in need of repair. The best [... read more]part was when we checked out. The desk clerk told me that I was to come down at 11 to catch my ride to the airport and that there would be a Transat rep there to help us. We came down at 10:30 and there was no rep. The clerk told us to sit and wait and they would get us when the bus came. At 11:10 I asked where the bus was and was told that it had left at ,10:30. With our flight leaving at 12:30, we got a cab to take us to an ATM machine on the way to the airport. When we got there we were told that we would have to catch the next flight out on Thursday. After talking to the gate attendant, we were told that if we run all the way to the gate, we can board the plane. We then found out that there was no boarding pass issued for Gail. After we made it through the metal detectors, we got on board and realized that we were missing one passport. Once we arrived in Toronto, customs told me to go to the Transat desk and have them call PV to locate my passport. The girl at the desk was too busy texting on her phone and handed me a card with customer service number and told me to call them. So other than that. The trip was ok

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Could make many changes.
I will start with the positive: The room was large well kept and after the first day of requesting a time that we would like the room serviced and of course a tip to the maid each day all went well.
The A la Carte restaurants were very good and service in most cases was very good.
The negative however was quite negative No: 1 the beach was not easy to walk on and of course being on the Pacific the ocean was very rough. The worse part of this hotel and probably the same with nearby hotels is the[... read more] reserving of the pool and beach long chairs.
At 7 am 98 % of all chairs that would be in sun were reserved with towels, shoes magazines etc and by noon probably 50% were occupied. I could mention a lot about the Mexican Mafia but space is not available on the review. All and all we gave over the 2 weeks 2800.00 pesos in tips.

Canto Del Sol: Disappointed
This was my 7th time at this resort. I loved it here. The staff knew my name when I arrived. My room and checkin usually flawless without delay. Food was amazing, specialty restaurants rocked, and staff second to none.
This time not so much.
As soon as I arrived, I felt it was different. I did get the "welcome home" greeting, which in my mind is a wonderful touch, and put you at ease right away.
I arrived at 11 am and was sent away until 3pm. That never happened before. Usually, I got my room[... read more] straight away. No matter, I went to the pool. Hardly anyone around. I was shocked. I found my friends at the pool, but half of them were in bed, sick from the food from the snack bar. The hamburgers we suspect. Others at the resort were also sick.
The next day my friend and I went to get towels. She asked for 7...no problem. I asked for 2 and the staff wanted my towel cards which I did not receive when I checked in. So, off I go to the front desk waited 15 min and got my cards. Back to get towels.
As for the pool...before you could swim up to the bar to get drinks and sit in pool. This time, closed.
Also, no drink cups in or around the pool. I didn't know this from past experiences. I had my plastic cup sitting at pools edge and the security guy "Carlos" marches towards me and scolds me for this cup. No signs, no mention upon checkin about no drinks by pool. OK.
Friends and I are sitting poolside, and a woman who was very drunk, passed out by the pool. So we placed her on a lounger to sleep it off. We covered her with a towel so not to get burned. Carlos marches over again and takes the towel off and says it's not hers. Then he stands guard by her for no reason to show some sort of authority.
So now this guy really needs an attitude check. He's been at this resort for a long time and clearly need's a new job.
Food
Horrible horrible horrible.
Buffet was always cold. Key is to get in when meal times start. Breakfast is the best for the eggs are made to order. The buffet and salad bar use to be huge and wonderful. My friends had to take their kids to KFC and McDonald's because there was no kids food and struggled when she asked for fries. I went to buffet during the day and in 7 days, 21 meals, i was offered a beverage twice. Totally ignored the rest of the time.
The specialty restaurants (surf and turf) was booked solid for 2 weeks so nobody could get in. I went out to eat. I lost weight though..lol.
The snack buffet use to have good food..not now.
You also use to be able to have breakfast at the snack bar by the water...not anymore.
One day there was no power due to maintenance, but we felt no interruption.
The hot water is juuuuuust hot enough for a shower at all times. Building is in dire need of maintenance and renovation.
I was very happy to go home. As I left my room, I grabbed my suitcase and a huge cockroach fell off the handle. I stepped on it so the maid would see it.
Never, ever going back. Neither are my friends, nor others we spoke to. It's a shame. It use to be so good. That's why I kept going back. They have lost many loyal guests.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Very happy
I stayed here 4 years ago and loved it. Went back and had same experience. Excellent staff some were the same from last visit. Was disappointed that the beach bar was closed which meant no food or bathrooms at the beach. They did have drinks available. It was affordable and would stay here again.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Great Resort
We booked this resort for two weeks Jan 21/23 to Feb.4th and after the first three days of having to call each day because they didn’t leave us any water coffee or beer and then the fourth day of not being offered any water or coffee at breakfast we figured we had made a big mistake in booking this resort however after going to guest services and explaining our concerns everything was taken care of. This resort does actually care and goes above and beyond to make you stay enjoyable. [... read more]
The food is excellent my favourite is the Asian (the Bamboo) and the Sake Steak. The staff are super friendly and accommodating our favourites were the waitresses at the main pool and the sports bar. Oh speaking of the sports bar the chicken taco salad is both delicious and filling only problem could get hockey games (didn’t upset my wife).
A very special Thank You to Salvador Moran it is because of you our memories of the Grand Palladium Vallarta will forever be one of our favourite vacations and the reason we will be returning next year again thank you.
Would also like to thank the people at guest services especially Julian Duenas.
See you all next year

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Disappointing
We had high hopes for this resort but it was one let down after another starting with our room, we booked 4 months in advance and did not get a king size bed, we’re told we could switch rooms Friday but when we tried, we were offered a room in the basement (?) or to check out for the day and try checking back in at 3 pm! No thanks. Food was good but very little choice and it became repetitive. Restaurants were mediocre and we were expected to line up at the concierge every morning to try to ge[... read more]t a reservation at one of them which was next to impossible. Despite our best efforts, we were only able to get resos 3/7 nights! Pools on family side were always way too hot, like hot tub hot. Beach was very nice but the vendors were very bothersome (I don’t enjoy having to say “no†literally every 5 minutes while I’m trying to relax on the beach). Rooms were nice, linens, bedding and pillows very nice but housekeeping was spotty due to staff shortage I was told. Room service very good but you’re only allowed to use it once a day. No coffee shop on site at the time. Was able to order a latte at breakfast buffet one day but told the machine was broken for the rest of the week. Pool service was great, but constantly ran out of certain spirits, was always told they had no grapefruit juice (for my beloved sea breezes) yet it was always at the breakfast buffet. Housekeeping or maintenance left our room propped open when we were out of it for hours!! Let my door slam once by accident and a piece of the wall fell off. The only positives I can think of were the staff, they tried so hard and were always so polite, and clearly worked long days. I think all these problems stem from management. This resort has a lot of potential but it was so disappointing for us and I would not recommend it to anyone unless you book the hacienda side, which was lovely.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Good but not great hotel
I would rate this hotel as OK. I would stay there again only if better hotels were too expensive. The hotel is dated and tired. It is clean enough but in my opinion needs to be gutted and redone. The hotel has a great location right on the beach and a very short walk to Marina Vallarta. The room is clean and had an amazing view of the pool, beach, ocean and mountains. The food in the buffets is actually pretty good with a different food theme each night. The two restaurants have way fewer reserv[... read more]ations available then they will handle for some reason. The food in the restaurants is also pretty good. Some really good choices and some not so good choices. The service all in all is good but we had to wait at times for drinks at the buffets. The service in the restaurants is excellent. The hot water is also spotty. Sometimes you have nice hot water and sometimes you don't. We made it work but it could have been better. They have a lot of activities and shows most nights. The facilities for the activities are also tired and need to be replaced. For instance, the mini put has many creases in the greens and frankly were unusable. They play loud music at the pool and bar all day and night. This is probably typical for all hotels in PV I would think. If you want to get to sleep before midnight, bring good ear plugs. If you into pickle ball they have eight courts on property put into two tennis courts. I have no idea how you sign up for this as we don't play. PV itself is all and all a wonderful place to visit. The weather in January was perfect for us. Cool night and mornings and warm afternoons. There is also lots to do. Go whale watching if you can as it was amazing. Don't book with the people on the beach though. Go through a reputable tour company. Vallarta Tours is the most prevalent one.
