Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great relaxing holiday!

The beach at the Barcelo Maya Grand complex is HUGE! We never had a problem finding a lounge in either the sun or the shade. There are some hidden rocky areas entering/exiting the ocean so use caution and watch where you’re walking. Alcohol isn’t available in the morning so it was disappointing to miss out on mimosas and coffee with Bailey’s at breakfast. We found that the Colonial/Tropical buffet was better than Caribe buffet for breakfast. We ate dinner at 5 of the a la carte restaurants (Mexico Lindo, Santa Fe, La Trattoria, Kyoto, Mare Nostrum). Our favourite was Santa Fe (steakhouse/meat) – the beef tenderloin was DELICIOUS! Our least favourite was La Trattoria (Italian) – the same disappointing, paper-thin crust pizza served at the buffet. We also really enjoyed the wings, ribs, jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks at Strikers. Service at the restaurants was prompt. Drink service at the bars was sometimes slow when only one bartender was working. Theatre shows were OK – we only attended two (Michael Jackson & Magic/Circus) as the theme of the other shows didn’t appeal to us. Something this complex lacks is LIVE entertainment. There are two piano bars (Colonial and Beach) where a pianist played two sets at night (7:30-8:15pm and 11:15pm-midnight) – we saw posters for 3 different pianists during our one week stay. Aside from that, there was very little going on in the evening – no singers or instrumentalists in the lobbies, no mariachi band at the Mexican a la carte, etc. The “live DJ show” at the mall wasted a stage that would have better suited a full band. For being such a large resort, we found it was surprisingly compact and easily walkable from Beach to Tropical (we have no mobility issues and enjoy the exercise). I would recommend this resort.

Wyndham Grand Cancun: Excellent trip

Omni hotel is very nice and updated. Rooms were spacious and clean, food was good and very Americanized. There’s plenty of selection for places to eat throughout the day, lots of stairs to get to the beach and back but doable! Only complaints are booking the a la carts (there was a glitch in their system so we couldn’t book the Italian on their app and had to wait to do it in person), their entertainment at night wasn’t very long and there’s not many places for big groups to sit at in th [... read more]eir lobby bar (small tables so you can’t play cards well, and you’re stuck sitting far away from some of the group if you have more than 5 people on your trip). Otherwise would go back again, staff was wonderful and very accommodating/pleasant to deal with. Their drink called “Omni paradise” is delicious give it a try!

Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: very nice resort and excellent food

Vamar Vallarta: Good 3 Star

The buffet restaurant was fairly good. There was always fresh fruit and the variety was reasonable.The servers were attentive and the atmosphere by the water was a nice change. The front lobby staff were excellent in assisting with anything you need. Alturo is easily the best person at the front desk for quick assistance and problem solving. The pool is definitely a good size and loungers were always available. The sister resort across the street had the ocean, pools and lunch/ late night food. The food there is very average with the burgers being the best option without the cardboard fries.The main reason that I would not stay here again is only because I really like wifi in the room and a fridge would have been good. The safe in the room is modern and easy to use.

Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel and Mexican Charm: Fantastic Resort

Found everything on this resort really good,would have liked more variety in the buffet but that’s just me.The staff from the front desk down to the bell boys were very friendly and all go out off their way to help you,pool you could just walk in nice and warm.Air Canada reps leave a lot to be desired ,after finding our transport at the airport our cases were put on Bus,The rep said we have lots off time go have a beer we won’t leave without you.15 mins later the bus is gone luggage and all  [... read more]to the hotel,couldn’t find Air Canada rep anywhere,Thanks to the Mexico Gentelman who made a few phone calls and got us a ride to hotel 2 hours later,No thanks to Air Canada.would recommend this resort to anyone,would not recommend Air Canada.

Costa Club Punta Arena: Loved it!

This was my second stay at Costa Club, and I would stay again. Kind, friendly, hard working staff, good food, clean and beautiful rooms. It is an easy walk to the Melacon, and has access to a long beautiful beach.

Barcelo Maya Palace: Quality is slipping

Rooms, grounds, general upkeep, pool areas, impeccable! Room fridge restocking was hit and miss, checked in Sunday, fridge not done until Tuesday. Then missed on Friday and Saturday. After checking in, went to guest services to book a la carte meals. The first booking we could get before 9:30 was Thursday, then Friday. As this was our second visit we were not interested in any of the a la cartes at the other resorts. So, we were relegated to eating all other meals at the buffet.  [... read more] Hot food should be hot, cold food cold. The only hot food was if you got it directly off the grill. Most was room temperature. The staff everywhere were excellent. Well, the front desk staff had their moments. Ask a question and you could get as many answers as was behind the counter. Beach is hard. Snorkeling is fair, silt gets stirred up. Many people drift up from other resorts, and take up space at the Palace. Lots of walking! Used the coffee the first day. Never replaced! Had to drink it black. No sugar or (ick) whitener.

Krystal Puerto Vallarta: Awful resort

This hotel is rated 4 stars but in reality it deserves 2! Buffet is disgusting, we saw a guy fill a juice cooler from a paint bucket. Food was horrendous as well! We had to eat out everyday. The staff is VERY unfriendly & the cleaning service is horrible. They close and open the bar as they choose. They have 2 restaurants that are reservation only and when I tried to make a reservation for one of them the whole week she told me “it’s fully booked for your whole stay, bye now”. Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres: Our favorite resort yet!

We loved this resort! We chose a swimup room with jacuzzi...room was very spacious and had 2 bathrooms, large deck with jacuzzi. The only thing...be careful when booking a swim up to ask if you are on the sunny side of the building. We found we didn't get sun in our area. We were in an adult section of this resort. We had a consierge/butler, premium beer (Corona, Coors Lights & Heikekin restocked in fridge daily, snacks supplied daily (peanuts, chips & chocolate bars), 1 free session at the hydrotherapy spa, 1 quart of premium alcohol, 24 hour free room service, each night our blankets were turned down at bedtime and ready to climb into bed. Bags were delivered to our room at check in and picked up at our room for check out time by bellboy. We had a designated section on beach with awesome service for drinks. The Steak restaurant was our favorite and other than that we enjoyed the buffet and the restaurant by beach...Mar House! It had awesome salmon, burgers, etc. Ice cream was delic too! Entertainment at night wasn't the best but we weren't really too concerned by that as we were tired out anyway. Sports bar has great drinks...Ernesto Lu Cio was a fantastic bartender, he was fun and went out of his way to get to know us!! We would have loved huts on the beach but they had cabanas with no closed in top...so shade was hard to find !! We would cover the top of the cabana with large towels to block some sun. Beach was beautiful!!! We have been to resorts in Puerta Plata, Punta Cana, Riviera Maya and have cruised...but this was our best yet! Food was top notch!! We would have to struggle to pick out a fault....finding shade on beach and having more sun at our swim up is all that really comes to mind. We booked with Trip Central...Eliana Anton was our agent, very obliging...all went smooth! Excellent vacation and highly recommend. I expect this resort will go up in price within the year or so as they advised us they are striving to become a 5 Diamond resort. Lastly, I want to mention our butler JD....he truly made our vacation and hotel experience as best it could be, he greeted us as we arrived and took us on a mini tour of the hotel showing us everything, so we had a good feel where all was located, this was so helpful as it saved us time in days to come as we knew exactly where we wanted to go! JD would check in regularly to make sure our needs were met and strived to make our trip a special one! He was fantastic at his job and is a real compliment to the Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres Resort!!! We will be revisiting this resort as it was all and more than we had hoped for!! And the weather was perfect too!

Allegro Cozumel: Great Family Vacation!

We had a great time at Allegro! We were a group of 3 couples. 6 adults and 4 kids ranging 5 months to 7 years old. Everyone enjoyed the pool, beach, drinks and food. We all thought they put a lot of effort into the food and enjoyed it. We spent a day driving around Cozumel felt completely safe and loved the different sights. Overall great trip and we would return for sure.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing!

This was my third trip to this resort. We love the staff. They made us feel very welcomed and safe. Grounds are so clean. Food was great. Water sports fun. Waitresses and bartenders were fantastic. Our room was always well stocked. Room service was fast and delicious and the concierge/butlers were great. The infinity pool is beautiful but freezing cold (probably my only complaint). I will return!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Great place (some issues)

So we were returning for our second visit and were absolutely floored that the resort group (Barcelo) does not recognize returning guests as loyal unless booked via their own system. Shameful way to operate. More or less threatened to not lose our towel cards or get “fined”$25 USD but the funny thing is they don’t use the cards and the staff collect towels right off loungers starting at 2:30 pm daily. Told we couldn’t have a king bed unless we wanted to “be out by the road” due to re [... read more]novations, when in fact there were no renovations underway as proven to us by an on-site customer service person stationed in the hallways of the room blocks. Buffet food in trays was usually cold. My brother an experienced chef showed me why. They place dry food in trays on hot bricks with no overhead heat and upon questioning they are allowed to leave food on the buffet for two hours before changing. The staff beyond the front desk are amazing, the beach is great, the bars are superior. We arrived Sunday and at 1 pm we attempted to make a la carte reservations and could only get seats for 3 on Thursday and Friday unless we wanted to eat at 9pm or later. Being two diabetics we need to eat at regular hours so we were not pleased with this. Given the fact the resort was very lightly booked it should not have been an issue. However we learned that the AO (Riviera) folks seem to get priority bookings at the Palace. The fridge (minor) was not stocked at all upon check in and took two days and 50 pesos to get that taken care of. Turn down service happened once in 6 nights so maybe we weren’t supposed to get it at all. Oh well I know how to turn down a comforter. Cleaning was spot on, rooms was always very clean. TV if required is limited but again that’s not why we go south. Sunwing rep chastised us heavily for not taking in the speech, and threatened us with not getting a ride to the airport because we checked in Tuesday versus Monday, then she wasn’t even there on Saturday when she told us to come back and confirm our private transfer. Her replacement got angry because we did not have our booking number and told us to go get it because they can’t “simply look you up” in their system. Great system Sunwing has, if in fact that was true. Then he told us what time and we called ourselves to confirm and got a later time so we believe he did it intentionally. To summarize, I would return to the Palace but expect Barcelo group to treat returning customers better.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas

I think this is one of the best hotels in the RIU Palace lineup. IT is a well greased machine. The service was great everywhere from the front desk check in, to the bartenders and waiters both by the pool and in the restaurants and buffet area. The food variety was excellent. Large shrimp, lobster, steak pork fish, cavier, sushi, Mexican, incredible desert slection and very tasty in the buffet area. etc etc. Our room was in a perfect location on the 4rth floor, ocean front and a few short steps [... read more] down a flight of stairs to the lobby bar overlooking the famous El Arco. Also very close to Cabo San Lucas and walking distance to the Walmart. Also great heated pool.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Staff so friendly

We thought the food and ambiance was amazing in the restaurants and staff kept everything so clean. Loved the king size bed and jacuzzi tub on balcony. Would definitely consider going again. It was environmentally friendly where one switch would turn off all the lights to save energy

Allegro Cozumel: Beautiful resort

The grounds are beautiful and they work very hard everyday to make them that way. The people who work there are very kind. The room are extremely clean. The beach is beautiful white sand and the clean it every day also it goes for miles. We had a great time at Allegro Cozumel.

Sunscape Cancun Resort and Spa: Absolutely Fabulous!

Our stay at Panama Jacks in Cancun was fabulous. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the grounds are beautiful and the property itself, inside and out is kept spotless!!! There was a mix up with our room when we arrived, which was late at night, but they took care of the issue as soon as I mentioned it the following morning - making the change nothing more than a slight speed bump. Also the hours for the various restaurants was very accommodating, giving us the choice to dine when we wanted. I highly recommend Panama Jacks Cancun!

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Awesome resort

5 star hotel all the way. Staff is the best. So many and so nice. Could not have asked for a better holiday. I would go again in a heartbeat. Loved it from booking with tripcentral.ca and Cindy to our host Sylvan at air Transat at the resort. Everything was good.

Sunscape Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

I loved everything about Panama Jack's Cancun. The grounds,rooms and restaurants were spotless, the staff were incredible and there were so many you never waited for anything. The only thing I would add is a bigger pool. There were a lot of families so lots of kids in pool. There is a kids pool but most used the larger one. Not a big issue, just a thought.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Superb Resort!

The Ocean Riveria Paradise resort was great! super clean, lots of fun stuff to do and so many different restaurants we were never bored. The beach is beautiful and bars were a plenty. I would recommend this resort to anyone who likes sun, fun and palm trees!

Costa Club Punta Arena: Relaxing getaway

We quite enjoyed our stay overall. There was one person who strolled the front lobby area (im sorry i didnt get his name) but he worked days.. ensuring we had everything we needed. He was wonderful. Nice room with a great view of the pool and ocean. LOVED the iguanas on the property. Food was decent, bar service great. Friendly staff. Room cleaned perfectly and daily. Fantastic A La Carte and a great location. My only recomendation would be to allow visitors to have a tour of the location to see [... read more] what it offers so they may stay in the future. Overall happy with our stay.
