Roc Arenas Doradas: Amazing Resort

The Resort is small and has very friendly staff. Good was very good and lots of variety. Great shows and family activities. Nice Sandy beach with lots of water sports voting on. Would highly recommend this resort.

This was our twelfth time at this resort we had a fabulous week.Great service as soon as you walk through the door .Thanks especially to KIKI and all the staff for your service will surely visit again.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Enjoyed our stay!

Great beach. Nice pool. Plenty of lounge chairs on beach and pool. Staff was friendly and nice. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The food was fine - not fantastic but good for Cuba. The Japanese restaurant was excellent. Bring bug spray if you go in May - the mosquitoes were plentiful.

Memories Jibacoa: Great relaxing resort

I found this resort to be the right atmosphere for middle age people, single or married. It is easy to see the same person daily, wherether a guest or staff. The staff are very freindly and eger to please. The grounds are well kept although maintenace on the exterior of buiding and walkways need minor maintenance work. The food was satisfying and plentiful, as goes for all of the beverages. The beach is well maintained, but swimming was limited due to the coral reef which is excelent for snork [... read more]eling.

Didn't enjoy the excursions but we thought the resort was beautiful. Everything was clean and well kept. The scenery around the resort was amazing and beaches were beautiful. The staff were all very friendly and helpful!

Melia Marina Varadero: Very good resort!

The room was amazing. Very clean facilities. Friendly staff. Beach area was excellent. Food was fairly average. The entertainment was lacking. Overall it is a very good resort but the entertainment needs to be improved.

Palma Real: Beat my expectations!!!

Resort was very fun. I would say it was a party resort but very clean, respectful. People and staff were great. No staff were rude. Pretty much let everyone have fun. Rooms were clean. Nothing was stolen. People serving the drinks at the pool bar and lounge will serve you but just super slow. But I can understand. Long day to serve drinks all day to the same drunk people day after day. We did tip. Did pick up a little bit, but still super slow. lol. So don't tip to much. It won't change much. [... read more] Maybe $5 a day. Location is the key for this resort. I would go again just for that. You can walk everywhere. Super close to everything. As for the food on the resort. This was terrible. But I have stayed in other low star resorts and its all the same. Unless you go to a 5 star plus the food is not changing. Its all bad in all the resorts. But many nice restaurants near this resort to eat off the resort. Ranging from $5 to $30 cuban dollars a meal. Matters what your looking for. Hope this helps. But "Yes" I would stay here again.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful!

Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Great entertainment staff. Food was OK, not the greatest but there was something for everyone. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Good location with easy access to public transport. Beautiful pools.

Palma Real: Amazing resort

Palma Real is a great resort, it is walking distance to all the good bars and clubs, no need to pay for travel. The beach is a 5 min walk from the hotel, but it didn't bother me because there is lots of little things to see. They have a bar by the beach so you don't have to worry about going thirsty or hungry. The people that work there are great as well. The atmosphere is always good and I liked the food as well. I would recommend this resort to anyone I know.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great for Snorkelers/Divers

Wonderful staff and great beach for relaxing. As avid snorkelers we loved the area around our resort. If you're not fussy about food - worth the trip for natural beauty. Definitely skip the Catamaran and opt for the Jeep Exercusion. Only 1 hour away from beautiful Havana. Perfect for couples/families looking for a quiet getaway.

Melia Las Antillas: Average resort

The rooms are outdated. There were a few things that needed to be repaired: a switch light was broken in a bathroom, sink was leaking and there were stains in bathtub. Only switch light was fixed. Also, the mini fridge wasn't restocked every day. We had to call twice. Location is great: beach is amazing as the pool area. Very spacey.The food at the buffet is great with a lots of varieties. Everybody could find something for themselve: fish, seafood, meat, pasta, pizza, salads, pickles, vegetable [... read more]s, and fruits. Romantico Restaurant a la cart was the best. Service is not the best especially at the lobby bar. They not friendly and slow. They favoured guests who tipped the most. Of course there are some exeptions. The bartender at the pool and beach area are much nicer and faster.

Sol Varadero Beach: Wonderful staff

Our 14 day stay on the Sol Sirenias side was wonderful and it was made to be wonderful, because of the staff that work endlessly to make our stay and everyones stay happy. Our room was clean and had a new king-size bed. The bathroom was also clean and had a big tub and shower there was hot water and NO MOLD ANYWHERE! The beach was the most beautiful ever and it was kept clean. The water was warm and turquoise. The pools were clean, the staff friendly and the rum snd beer were plenty. The resort  [... read more]is going through renovations in stages our room had been recently painted. There are palm trees as far as you can see, the grounds and gardens are well maintained. The walking paths are well lit and flat, good for walking and those who have a stroller. The buffet has lots to choose from, plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables lots for seafood lovers, French fries, pasta, BBQ and grilled meats and fish. It's Cuba, there is plenty of food it's just not always to our Canadian taste. Take a trip to the Plaza America and go try the brusshetta and pizza at PIZZA PIZZA, it will bring your taste buds home. There are nightly shows and The Habana Café disco to enjoy right at the resort. We tried the Mexican restaurant and both enjoyed the food and the service. We met interesting and wonderful people from Canada and all the way around the world. The staff throughout the resort from the front desk, attendants, cleaning, maintenance, bar staff, servers and management made our stay wonderful. They deserve much respect Thank you everyone 😊 Looking forward to seeing you all again.

Melia Las Antillas: Resort is nice BUT......

Arrival: We were greeted with smiling faces and a fresh drink upon arrival. Check-in was very quick. Rooms: The room we had overlooked the pool area which was quite nice. We could hear the music in the evening from the terrace. Our maid, Ines, did a great job keeping the room clean and refreshing our towels. When we would see her, she always made a point of asking if we needed anything. The beds were roomy and comfortable. Bar fridge was restocked daily. No issues with bugs or critter [... read more]s. There was never any issues with water. Always available and the right temperatures. The room could do with a little update especially the bathroom tub and ceiling Food/Drink: We always found something to eat at the buffet. Selection was similar each day, but plenty to pick from. The pasta chef, Michel, went above and beyond trying to find a sauce spicy enough to satisfy a guest that was standing in front of me. Impressive! The ladies making the morning smoothies and cooking the omelette on the right side were very good and always greeted me with a smile and good morning. Smiles go a long way. The Italian restaurant was very good with professional service. We, too, enjoyed the Cuban/Seafood a la carte. Did not try the Mediterranean a la carte. Guests have the option of trying all three a la carte. We did not have to wait long to book either of these restaurants. The snack bar beside the pool bar was pretty good. They had a menu, offered small buffet and serviced burgers, fries and sandwiches. Occasionally they had calamari available which was pretty good. The Mojito drink is very good there. One of the servers' speciality (don't remember her name) We were disappointed in the drink selection. Not many to select from at the beach bar nor at the pool bar. No menu available. So when asked for a particular kind they either didn't make it (ie. Banana Mama) or didn't know what it was. The last day couple days we did get one of the girls to make a concoction (Pina Colada slush and melon liquor). It was very good. Early in the day were the best slush drinks. By mid afternoon it was mostly melted and made drinks more liquid like. At other resorts, you can sometimes get a better drink from the lobby bar. Not at this resort. However, it was a nice place to sit and relax in the evening either inside by the bar or outside on the terrace listening the live entertainment. The bbq at the beach bar was very good too. The chef was very friendly. Grounds: The beach was beautiful. Perfect for a long walk or run from one end to the other. There were lots of chairs and shade available. Lots of fun playing volleyball, jumping the big waves or just relaxing. They didn't play the music too loud even when sitting beside the hut. The down side of this beach was the pack of dogs that hung out further down the beach. The first morning on a run I was attacked by two of them. They came charging at me viciously. Screaming for help, I tried to keep them off me with a water bottle I was carrying. Eventually I backed into the water when they decided to back off. It wasn't until the dogs backed off and I started up the beach (in the water sneakers and all on) that a worker from that resort came down telling me the dogs would not hurt me. It was because I was running. It certainly didn't appear that way. Had it not been for the water bottle I think I would have been dealing with dog bites! That same day we had a meeting with our Sunwing rep. I told her about the incident. She advised not to trust the dogs and it would be reported. Unfortunately that did not solve the issue of the dogs. I attempted to run on the beach two more mornings and saw the dogs on the beach again. Being aware of their existence, I would turn around and race back to the Melia Las Antillas before they had a chance to catch up with me. Not only were the dogs on the beach in the morning, there was one of them that ran up and down the beach during the day doing it's business anywhere. So be careful where you step! One early evening we saw the pack of dogs on the beach. One evening there was a dog on our resort. Laying around on the chairs beside the pool and chasing the cats. It followed us back to the lobby. I reported this and told them about my incident with the two dogs. The lady at the desk said they would report it to security who would have someone come get the dogs. Obviously they didn't take the too far because we continued to see them. This incident alone has made my decision on not returning to this resort or any resort on the Tainos Beach. I was very surprised by the service on the beach by some (not all) workers. Each morning there was a man on the beach sitting in a chair. Quite often I would get my own loungers. Drag or lift them through the sand to the hut. One morning one guy leaned against some loungers right beside the loungers I was lifting and dragging. It wasn't until one of my friends started to look for pieces to repair the chairs that he helped. He had not issue taking the tip that was given to him. However, there are a couple workers that are very helpful. There is no bar service on the beach. Suggest you get a hut near the entrance up to the bar. And there is no bathroom facilities. You have to continue the walk pass the bar to the pool bathrooms. The pool area is very nice and clean. Entertainment doesn't really start until later in the day. Nice and quite in the morning. There are lots of loungers available. Staying away from the swampy area would be suggested. Sometimes get the smell of sulphur from there. The hammocks are a very nice touch to this resort. It's a relaxing area in shade. We didn't try out the hot tub but it looks very nice. Entertainment and Facilities: There was great entertainment on the terrace after dinner each night. Nice place to sit and listen to the live band while sipping an after-dinner beverage (or not) or even kick up your heels. This was followed by a show over behind the pool bar. The shows were similar to shows at other resorts. One difference was the water show in the pool. That was a very nice change from other resorts and very entertaining! A WOW! Worth the watch. If your evening wasn't over by then, you could head over to the disco beside the Italian a la carte. The pool side entertainment daily is very good. The hosts are very enthusiastic (chow, chow Mickey Mouse). They are very good at remembering who you are if you get involved. The gym has the general equipment. Although the hours on the door indicate 9:00-17:00. You can enter anytime using your room key. There is a switch box on the back wall beside the ladies washroom (where there is a sauna located). This box runs the lights and the air conditioner. This is something one of the other guests showed me on my first visit. It became very helpful on mornings when I was the first to arrive. Overall: We had a wonderful time with our friends and fantastic weather. Unfortunately we do not plan on returning to this resort or dog infested beach.

Starfish Jibacoa: Lovely, quiet resort!

The bungalow accommodation are great! Very clean and well manicured grounds and facilities. Food was very good, staff very friendly! Beach is lovely and very quiet. Great place if you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation.

Playa Caleta: Give this one a miss!

I would not recommend this hotel. The service was terrible with the exception of our maid. She did a great job. The rooms and hotel were old and in need of a lot of updating. We were without water for two evenings. The food at the snack bar was a health risk due to poor cooking and bird excrement over the tables and chairs. The beach and water were great. The entertainment was good. I got the impression this hotel was being run on a shoestring. This was our 8th time to Cuba and we could tell th [... read more]e staff were not happy and it showed.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good resort!

Hotel ground were very clean, restaurants and buffet were really good (especially the fish station at the buffet). Staff was really accommodating, polite, helpful, and always smiling. Now we've got to mention the rooms. The rooms were left to be desired. The first day we were in room 5521. Walls were full of stains, floors dirty, lamp broken, water tap in bathtub were rusted, shower door gross!!! (Even got pictures to prove it). On day two, I asked to change room. They sent me to room 5314. The  [... read more]walls were as dirty as the first room. In the bathroom, there was still urine (from the people before me I guess) on the bottom of the toilet. One thing I figured out by myself is that the lady that had the room before us had long black hair. I know this because there was lots left behind. Overall I would probably go back but only with a can of Lysol disenfectant.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Resort was nice enough, awesome beach

The hotel was fairly clean. Fridge stocked daily. Always found something to eat. Grounds were clean. Pool was very dirty at the end of my one week stay. The beach was beautiful with lots of cabanas to choose from.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great resort! Would go back!

I went with my 18 year old son from April 26th-May 3rd, I wish we were still there! The great things about Blau Marina far outweigh the bad! The pools were super clean and fun, swim up bar kept drinks flowing with a smile! The grounds were clean, well maintained. The beach was so beautiful, a lot nicer than the ones I have seen in all my travels to Dominican Republic. This is such a great location to stay at because across the street is the Marina plaza, there are a bunch of stores and boutique [... read more]s to shop in, including a liquor store, ice cream parlour, clothing stores, shoe stores, place to eat etc. Rooms pretty good, little outdated like the large silver square TV sets, lol. 2 channels were English speaking one was CNN and channel 20. Temperature of room was nice and cool, beds were good, maids were friendly and efficient. Mini bar restocked daily. Front desk staff awesome, check in took about 3 minutes, check out even quicker! Great staff throughout entire resort. Bad points: the food sucks! The only great meal I had was at the Italian a la carte! Breakfast was the most edible meal of each day. Bad point #2- after 6pm it's MOSQUITO CITY!!! You will get swarmed anywhere you go, apparently this resort doesn't bother spraying. I've never experienced this at any resort that I have ever been too. We were advised ahead of time of the mosquito issue, so we brought 2 full bottles of bug spray, we used both bottles-gone! So in conclusion, we had a great time, we would go back, we would recommend this resort to others!

Nice hotel friendly people good service nice room will come back to go to Havana again Suggestion: time show - the lights should be pointed at presenters not audience was hard to watch the show the lights were blinding

Resonance Blu Varadero: good value

Overall it was nice.the grounds were nice, room fine and always found something to eat.the ocean and beach were beautiful. The bad at this resort was the service wasn't the best and the pool wasn't clean the whole week we were there.
