Melia Cayo Coco: Melia Cayo Coco - Nice Resort

We stayed at the Melia Cayo Coco in early 2014, and we enjoyed ourselves a lot. We were told this was a 5 star resort (for Cuba standards) but we will give this a 4. The food and service as usual was top notch, with friendly people providing awesome service. The resort itself is starting to show its age and needs some tender loving care. We spent most of our time at the pool as getting space on the beach was hard unless you got up very early and tipped heavily. As well, one of the days we made i [... read more]t on the beach we were flooded out due to the high surf and high tides (it is really narrow). This was supposed to be adults only, but the beach is shared with the other Melia chain resorts so take your chances. The room on the Lagoon was nice, but we missed having a tub in the washroom. We did have some minor deficiencies with the room but a quick call to the front desk and it was rectified within a reasonable amount of time. The night shows were excellent, one of the best we have encountered during our trips down south. We would recommend this resort to our friends as the service was excellent, just need to update the resort public areas

Paradisus Varadero: Great Resort Great Time

Very well kept resort,quiet, lots to do,perfect location, great staff very welcoming and helpful!Will recomend to friends and family. Would go back again anytime. Also great service from Sunwing Airlines and their staff!

Sol Varadero Beach: Excellent resort

I have been to this hotel 3 times and will return again. The hotel is ideally situated on a section of beautiful beach, although not a new hotel, the rooms are quite nice and offer everything you need. Service is great and food is good.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort!

Very clean, safe, friendly atmosphere. The lay out of the resort made it very easy to get around and the grounds were very well maintained. Very easy to access local transit and many excursions. Can't wait to go back next year.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: To me it did not qualify as a 5 star Resort

The rooms were fine, the staff very friendly and helpful, the grounds well taken care of, but the toilets in the ladies facilities in at least 3 different places had no toilet seats. To me that is disgusting. Even after I complained about it, nothing was done. The men's washrooms were all fine, according to my husband. I personally would not ever go there again, and I would not recommended it to any one. The opening was a great event. we enjoyed the opening party. The beach is nothing to complain about, very nice. Lots of beach chairs available.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Excellent vacation at Paradisus Princesa Del Mar !

We had an amazing vacation at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar. The service was impeccable, we were treated like gold by everyone especially Pablo and Juan. We initially went with lower expectations of food based on what friends who had visited other resorts in Cuba had told us, but this resort completely exceeded our expectations !!!! The food was amazing, especially the black and white night it was truly 5 star food !!! The Japanese restaurant is a must, great show, great food !!! All in all this was a great vacation and we will definitely go back !!!!

Tryp Cayo Coco: a good snorkeling reef right in front of the hotel

The rooms are dated. You have to fight and tip to get a reservation at the specialties restaurants, but if you can get past those things it is a nice place. The beach is beautiful, the pools and grounds are maintained and clean and oh! The Havana Club (ask for the dark)! Sometimes you can get diet cola and sometimes not, however you can get 2 cans delivered to your mini fridge daily and in their shop you can get a 2 litre for around $2.00.

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful beach

Hotel was great! Very clean never felt crowded. You could always find space at the pool or beach. Food was ok, they did run out of a few thing through out the week but we never went hungry. We had a great vacation would definitely go back.

Melia Marina Varadero: Best value for money in Varadero

I did my fair share of research before choosing this hotel and it was worth it. Varadero is chronically maligned on reviews for having run down hotels and bad food, so staying at the newly opened (2013) Melia Marina was a pleasant surprise. It is probably one of the best and most affordable 5-star hotels in the far end of the strip. The 1-bedroom suites are HIGHLY recommended for families who want to be away from the action and the 5-7 minute walk to the main building (10 mins to the beach) is t [... read more]otally reasonable. The food is passable but there is more than enough variety for you to put together a decent plate of the buffet's "greatest hits" each meal. On a global scale I would probably give this resort 4-stars, but since this is such a jewel in landscape of Varadero I had to give the full 5-star review. Stay at this hotel as soon as possible before they raise the rates (and it starts getting run down).

Sol Varadero Beach: Great time!

We stayed from April 18-25 and we had a great trip the hotel wasn't in the best shape but it wasn't horrible the food was great they have two sides to the resort so we walked over and ate at the sol Serena's side fresh squeezed orange juice a whole table of cheeses and figs and lots of pastrys I loved the homemade donuts with thier banana syrup over all he had a great time there was so many great people and it was really busy lots of clubs in the city just a cab ride away and lots of very nice p [... read more]eople in the city too! And there was an amazing restaurant in town I think it was called Jesus best lobster dinner I've ever had!! It was 30 cuc per person but it was worth it!

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Can't wait to go back

Our only regret was not staying longer! The next trip to this resort will be 9 days so we will have 7 days without any travelling! The room was great with plenty of space, well laid out and clean the service was second to none! The beach and snorkelling opportunities where great.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing Resort

Hotel and grounds are amazing, the rooms are very clean and most of all the staff are very friendly and accomdating. The food is not five star, but the pizza is great at the poolside cafe.......the beach is beautiful...would definatley go back......

Sol Varadero Beach: Great time

When we first arrived we were a little skeptical, however, the resort turned out to be fabulous and we would definitely return to it. We took friends with us who had never been and they had a great time. My only criticism would be no entertainment between dinner and the shows so was a little bored at that time.

Melia Las Americas: Wonderful resort!

Rooms were lovely, food was great by Cuban standards. Beaches and grounds were beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful and it was next door to a great golf course. Perfect! We would go back for sure.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very nice

Awesome for Cuba. Lovely rooms and grounds. Welcoming reception area. Internet in the lobby was hit and miss. Large property, very spread out. Leave yourself plenty of time to exchange money (always a lineup) Food was very good for Cuba. Wide selection!

Melia Las Dunas: Wonderful resort, would love to go back.

excellent hotel, beautiful beaches and the food! absolutely wonderful, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family. Looking forward to my next trip to Cuba, and its wonderful hospitality.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Holiday delight

The grounds and facilities are lovely. The rooms are nicely appointed and large.the beach is heaven.the food is lacking. Make sure you book the special restaurants. They are much better the entertainment was enjoyed nightly.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Amazing resort

The grounds are beautiful and well kept as well as the beach. Staff is very friendly and always greet you. The food is good and we always found something we liked. It was nice having a snack bar open 24 hours.

Sol Palmeras: Strong stomachs only

The grounds, pools and beach are absolutely lovely. The mezzanine area where people gather to enjoy the AC, have a drink, meet up with friends, also very nice. The rooms are .... okay. A bit musty smelling but that's normal this far south. There are two reasons I won't return to Sol Palmeras. First, the food/water. You couldn't get a hot cup of coffee! I would pour it out of the machine and then nuke it in the dining hall before drinking. Even though the variety of foods offered was quite good b [... read more]oth my Mom and I ended up suffering from diarrhea by day 3 and for about 3 weeks back at home. The second reason is a bit more difficult to communicate but it has to do with the general unhappiness of the staff. These are not people who have chosen to work in the tourism industry! I saw a lot of surly, almost scary looks on waiter's faces. Not nice! One of our maids decided by half way through our stay that she should have my Aerosole sandals. She was relentless until I promised to leave them for her and then she reminded me twice a day until I left that I had promised her! I felt oppressed by their oppression. I save for a long time to go on a holiday so it won't be Cuba at all in future. It'll be anywhere else, where the people who are working at my resort want to be working there and where the water and food don't make me sick. I also prefer not to go through their airport security ever again in my lifetime. Yuck! Certainly not conducive to the holiday spirit! Sorry Cuba and Sol Palmeras. You won't see me again! And, I won't be recommending this part of the world to anyone trying to decide where to go on their next holiday.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good Overall

Resort was new and beautiful but already showing wear will stained walls and cracked tiles. Most of the staff with very nice and helpful. Buffet food options didn't change the whole time we were there. Walk to the beach was short. Beach was beautiful.
