Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful resort

We stayed in the royal service area and it is well worth the upgrade. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds were firm and comfortable. The pillow menu, though it seemed silly, was the best. I slept like a baby. Our room was cleaned twice a day every day. I'm still not sure what the Butler was supposed to do as we never saw her. We chose royal service for the location, the pool and the beach. The resort needs more umbrellas at this pool. It was hard to find shade most days. It was sas to see [... read more] so many swim up beds unused and we couldnt access shase. Our bartenders were amazing. Not only friendly but they got to know us personally. Lili Nacho at the beach bar was great. Annarayas at the pool bar was definitely our favourite. We avoided the royal buffet and a la carte as we found the choices limited and the staff less than friendly. Most a La carte restaurants served the same foods cooked differently. The grand Terraza buffet had the best selections. The Cuban restaurant and Japanese restaurant were our favourites. We enjoyed the entertainment most nights. There were some amazing waiters that were very fast and attentive and some who forgot drinks. I wish I made note of their names to recognize them. All in all we had a wonderful vacation and I was pleased to see the resort smoked it's mosquitos. The reviews we read about bug bites was scarey. We had a bug free stay.

Melia Marina Varadero: Waist of money

Don't go there room cleaning should be improve and food is repetitive and terrible ..kitchen staf add food to late.will not go back hotel need serious improvement and better maintenance.Entertainment poor very boring resort

Paradisus Varadero: Great resort !

Hotel was very nice, service and housekeepers need some help, pools were clean, chairs were organized. Only complaint would be the bar fridge was never refilled, never any clean towels. Necessities you require for a weeks stay weren't focused on by the hotel. Overall the stay was Good!

Paradisus Varadero: Interesting Experience

The hotel itself was absolutely beautiful; however, upon closer inspection, you could see that time and care really had not been attended to in the presentation of this place. 2/8 days we didn't have running water, and there were cockroaches in the a la carte restaurants and their bathrooms. Those things aside - the beaches and grounds were nice, just not 5 star nice. The staff were inconsistent in their attentiveness. The resort is advertised as having 24/7 room service. 9/10 times they d [... read more]id not show up. The WiFi is terrible, and you have to pay for it (even though it is terrible). If you're looking to lay out on the beach and unplug from all technology, then this is the place to stay. If you're looking for a little more out of your experience - I would recommend staying somewhere more consistent with what is advertised in relation to what is actually at the resort.

Starfish Jibacoa: Small and personable

Villas Jibacoa is a small resort. The beach is not great for whose who like playing in the water, however it is awesome for snorkeling! Simply snorkel right off of the beach! Coral right off of the beach! A couple of feet into the water... your seeing beautiful colourfull fish. But make sure you bring your own equipment. Service at the resort was good. The rooms are clean. Food was good, but not much for variety. Resonance Blu Varadero: Great Time and Great Resort

This was my 9th time to Varadero at 9 different resorts and I will say that this rates as top 2 in my books as for anything less than a 5 Star. The only negative is the bathrooms in the rooms are desperately in need of updating. Other than that nothing but positives for this resort. First resort I have been to where at breakfast there were 4 omelette stations and tasty as well. Lots of good food good drinks clean grounds. Family friendly resort for sure as lots of kids there.

Palma Real: Good for what you pay

I travelled solo April 22 to April 29 2017 As I have been here three times I know what to expect the food was a little better this time than it has been in the past that was a great assortment of fresh vegetables and meats The rooms are a bit dated but I always had hot water and a working toilet Some of the staff have been there for a long time and there are some newer staff There were some long lines At the bar and there were some very impatient customers there me I'm on vacation I don't m [... read more]ind waiting There was a chance to do excursions and shows every night and the pools were very well kept Also this hotel is on the main drag in the Varadero so you could spend a lot of time shopping or visiting the different restaurants I was able to change my money at the resort So for those on a budget it's probably a good deal

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Would go back

I went there April 2-8 and I had the best time! The food was alright, the entertainment was good & people and service was great. The only down fall (which I was expecting) the internet didn't work at all the whole week I was there.. I paid for a card for an hour and the whole internet was shut down. For me it really didn't bother me as much as I would have thought. I had the best week of my life & im planning to go back soon! It's been a month and I already miss it!

Starfish Jibacoa: Lovely resort!

The resort grounds and rooms are well-maintained and it shows. The resort beach did have some litter, perhaps some garbage cans in dedicated areas would help. The staff and resort activities were so much fun. Love the hiking tour and scuba diving.

Melia Marina Varadero: ok

beach towels: missing for days music at the pool : very poor, no Cuban music fridge inroom: not filled consistenly with water and beer grounds: not to much green and flowers buffet: not consistent in providing vegetables guest room before leaving was a disaster: unable to unlock the room after three attempts, no towels provided, no phone, no hair dryer

Muthu Playa Varadero: Great week on the beach!

We had a great week on this resort. I will start with the fact that the rooms were OK at best, but fortunately I didn't go for the rooms, I went for the beach and the beach was fabulous! The maid service in mine and my husbands room was A+, although my parents were in a room in a different building and they did have some trouble with getting towels, hot water and a few other hiccups. I would highly recommend eating at the lobby buffet or the beach buffet instead. The food otherwise was pretty good in comparison to resorts I have visited in the past and in comparison to the horror stories I have heard about food in Cuba. The grounds were nice and pretty well kept. I did notice staff cleaning the lobby well every morning, unfortunately the people staying on the resort are careless and leave quite a mess for the morning cleaning crew. The coffee bar has the best coffee! We came to know our wait staff at the buffet on first name basis! Lazara at breakfast is a beautiful soul! Orlando at supper was so kind and helpful! We met so many wonderful people at this resort and I hope we can get back again some day! We also learned so much about the people and their culture. I wasn't a huge fan of the drink menu overall, I prefer slushie drinks, but the sangria is pretty good! The ala cart in the lobby was good, but nothing overly exciting. We didn't try the others. The band that played at lunch at the beach buffet was amazing! And the beach staff were fun and enthusiastic! My lovely dance partners from two separate occasions (I didn't get their names) were a real treat and I am so grateful for their time and dance lessons. There were certainly things that didn't go quite as planned, but overall we had a beautiful stay, we met beautiful people and I would totally go back!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great beach, very nice resort

I stayed at the Iberostar Laguna Azul the week of April 22 to 29 with my 3 daughters, all in their early 20's. Overall, the resort was very nice. The beach was beautiful and the pools were very nice. The flights, transfers to and from the airport and check in/out went very smoothly and were stress-free. The food was ok (similar to others resorts we have seen in Cuba). Overall, this was a very nice resort and I would recommend it for someone looking to visit Cuba.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful Resort, Horrible Insects!!!!

Mosquitos and flys were terrible!!!!! The dining areas were full of them, on your plates, forks, arms, legs, etc, along with birds flying above you and their "droppings" everywhere!!! The bites were huge and extremely itchy!!! We tried to sit at the bar after supper and to attend the performances by the dancers, but we had to leave before the entertainment started because the insects were so bad! We spent every night in our room after supper because of the insects. We have been at 5 oth [... read more]er resorts before Blau Marina Varadero, but at all other resorts, we never once had an issue with mosquitos, flys or any other insect. The food was not very good, and the room could have been updated. The beach and grounds were beautiful, but my husband and I were also bitten badly by flea-like sand flies. While waiting for the bus to take us to the airport in the main lobby/bar area of the resort, minutes before the bus picked us up, the birds flying overhead, hit me with their "droppings" all over my back, my hand, and I had to run to the washroom to remove my top and wash it before the bus came to pick us up. I just made it to the bus with my top back on soaking wet. It was not a good experience!!!

Club Kawama: Great time at Kawama

We enjoyed our trip to Kawama very much. We had a standard room that was very small but clean. I was surprised there were no patio doors or terrace/balcony. The food in the buffet was not very good. Same stuff every day. I always ate the meat or fish that was cooked on the grill. We went out to dinner several times to Kiki's, and lie lie's and took advantage of the a la cartes. The grounds and architecture of the older buildings are beautiful. The pool is large with lots of chairs but not enough umbrellas. The beach is great unfortunately it was to rough to swim in very much. Mostly red flag days.

It's my first review that I'm writing in my life and I have travelled quite a lot to Cuba but I have been so disappointed about our last vacation and I felt I have to let people know about this resort. The resort, beach are wonderful, no complaints but the food was a misery. At the lobby bar we had to pay for some drinks, like for an example for a bottle of beer we had to pay 1 CUC....First day when we arrived it was noon and we went to eat something but for our disappointment there was nothin [... read more]g left. We had the same food almost day by day. One day we went for lunch around 14:15 and again there wasn't to much food left but more then that the kitchen staff saw us with the empty plates walking around trying to find something to eat they didn't care they continued to clean up the buffet. Completely ignored us. Anyway I have had so much cabbage and carrot salad that I'm sick and tired of it.Our only decent lunch was when we went to visit Havana. The worst part is that I came back very sick to my stomach. We had the feeling and I have to add that we've been talking with other Canadian tourists and they felt the same way that we had a big disadvantage not knowing Spanish. Some of the staff members were really nice but others were the complete opposite. Too bad, like I have said the place is gorgeous and pretty clean.

Melia Las Antillas: Nice resort

Very clean resort. Same food all the time at the buffet, nice staff. Buffet tables were slow being cleaned off and made ready for others. Beach nice but had to get up early for shade. Need more huts for shade. Need more entertainment and music around the pool. Rather quiet. We had a wonderful maid. Our flights sunwing were late both ways. There was a great show by the poolside, we had an overall nice experience there.

Roc Barlovento: Unbelievable Staff! - ROC Barlovento

Beach was beautiful, staff was by far the happiest, friendliest and accommodating I seen. The nightly entertainment was great as well. A few issues with the room, we didn't have a fridge and our in-room hair dryer didn't work, but we didn't complain at all, and im sure if we did we would have been immediately accommodated by the staff. All was great, and are most likely going to book the same resort again on our next vacation to Cuba

Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great combo resort

Resort was well managed. Rooms were a little older inside but kept clean. Resort was undergoing construction when we were there. Its nice to see them improving things, but it was annoying if your room was by the construction due to noise and worker traffic. Real asset that the resort is larger as they offer more activities. It is also great that there is a 4 star and 5 star resort on the same property and that you are allowed to use the facilities and food buffets at both places. Blau Varadero: Amazing resort and staff!

This was my first time to Cuba and I'm glad I picked this resort as my first experience because it did not disappoint! It was an adult only resort so mature and relatively relaxed. The food was amazing, the beach was stunning and the staff were all beautiful, warm and welcoming. I will miss Agdiel, Orlando and Alexander the most and hope to see you all again soon!! I already miss Cuba and can't wait to go back.

Barcelo Solymar: Party Resort till 11PM

We've been to several Cuban resorts, so were used to the small things like bathrooms not fully stocked, bars running out of booze. So we come prepared my wife always carries napkins and were not picky drinkers and will just try another. The thing about this place being so close to all the nightlife is they shut down all the bars after 11, the Disco is a joke with the DJ in an elevated inaccessible booth that u can't request him/her to play a half decent song other than the gangsta yo yo stuff pl [... read more]aying. And the resort practically forces u to go out if u wanna have fun. There is a cafe where u can grab a beer, if they don't run out. We went out several times and had fun, but we spent a lot more money than we wanted. The food was great, never understood the widespread misconception that Cuban food is bad. We had lobster and steak twice at the Spanish restaurant and always filled up my plate with a wide variety at the buffet. The pools, grounds were constantly being cleaned. This resort is very lively with a lot of younger guest whooping it up.
