Atelier Playa Mujeres: Great, relaxing resort!

We stayed at Atelier adults side, Jan 9- 19. The rooms are gorgeous, and we had a good time. The check in was very slow. We booked a Junior Suite room and we try to upgrade to a higher floor but there were few conferences underway in the hotel and the hotel had no available rooms as we were told. The hotel tried to convince us to get an Inspira suite for $2,000 USD more and it is not worth the money in my opinion. However, there is no need for an upgrade. We had a partial ocean view room closer  [... read more]to the beach. The room that we originally got had a sewage smell. The entire building (first from the beach) has this issue as we talked with other people from the same building. I do not think the hotel can do anything about this. We changed the room for a similar one in the next building further from the beach (we were still able to have a partial ocean view). Be aware that the cleaning lady has a super key and can unlock your safe. You do not need reservations to the restaurants (only Inspira guests are able to do it). However due to the conferences, the restaurants were closed by rotation to accommodate larger groups. One night we were told that the waiting time for the Los Abrazos is one hour! Restaurants: our favourite was Los Abrazos (try the ribeye and the banana split) and our least favourite was Takeshi (Japanese). The food at Takeshi was extremely salty and overcooked. While we were there, they introduced Mexican night at El Suspiro and we enjoyed it. We also liked Cilento – yes the portions are small but very fulfilling if you get most courses. We had breakfast at Mercado few times and the service were not that great. Seating is aleatoric, we asked for water few times and by the times we finished breakfast we still haven’t got it. However, the food is very tasty and good. The best coffee at the coffee shop (Cafecito), good muesli and yummy croissants. We had a very nice surprise with the room service. It was the best room food we’ve ever had in all our travels. The steak was done perfectly, the service was prompt, and everything was great. I also loved the grill and salad lunch buffet at the Trompo. Everywhere the food was very good! Beach: it is a very nice, wide beach. There are 2 beach levels. One right close to the pool as you step outside the resort, and as an extension, going up a bit, one near to the water. There are enough beds and chairs. There is one beach bar shared with the Estudio side (kids side). The beach is not clear delimited between the adults side and the kids side. There weren’t many kids while we were in the resort however I can see this being an issue especially since the bar is shared. There is seaweed on the beach (it is the entire region and there were storms while we were there) and the hotel is working hard to remove them. Pool: it is large and there are enough chairs. However the day we left, in order to accommodate conferences events, they removed all the chairs and beds on one side of the pool. I was happy we were leaving but paying a lot of money for this resort, I do not think that I want to be restricted due to conferences (beach, restaurants etc.). In the morning they have a spa music on the PA system very nice. However, along the day they just had club music and it became very tiring after a couple of days. That’s why I think many people had their own music which it was even more annoying. I missed the Latin music such as salsa, bachata etc. Activities: it is a pretty quiet resort. They have some activities, but they are not very well advertised. I do not think there are enough people in their entertainment team. Alejandro and Danny Boy did an amazing job during the day (Zumba, volleyball, water polo, bingo etc). We loved the rock band and the magician at nighttime. They need to rethink the nightly entertainment and how they advertise it. Mosquitos: they are trying very hard to keep the mosquitos under control and they succeed most of the times. Just be careful after it rains before they spray it again. I am prone mosquito bites and I had no issues (few bites), just avoid walking around during the early morning and evening hours. Personnel is absolutely fantastic! Very nice, polite and always trying to help you. Jasmin at the welcoming desk (various restaurants) was very efficient and organized and she remembered our names and room number! At the Steakhouse Jimmy is awesome, Laura was very quick and efficient, Angel was very nice. OMG all the people at El Suspiro are amazing (sorry I do not remember their names)! Alfonso, the manager, the guys from the bar etc.. They do not have octopus on the menu, and they made it special for us when we requested it. Thank you!! Romero and the other guys (sorry for not remembering the names) at the pool are working so hard all day long. Always smiling, cracking jokes and always asking you if you need anything. Thanks to Alberto, one of the bell boys for helping us with the room and luggage. It was a great resort and we had a very relaxing time. They still have few things to fix, nothing major. I thought that being a Mexican chain, I would experience more of the Mexican culture which it gets lost on the Mayan Riviera. I suggest they would bring that in through music, food (great that they introduced the Mexican night), artisan markets etc.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Amazing Resort

This hotel is fantastic, everything about it is great and I am having a hard time to find things to complain about. The maintenance team is the best and keep everything in order at all times. The food was the best as well and we left every meal extremely satisfied.

Riu Flamingos: Very good resort.

Food was good, sometimes luck of tea spoons and longer periods for waiting for table making. Rooms were in good shape and room cleanness.Wish the steaks were thicker and done fresh. Wish the servie crew at dinning were more quiet.

Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya: Most amazing trip ever

This place hit everything on our list ! Most importantly the surroundings are so beautiful . The attention to detail to the the whole resort is impeccable . From the moment you walk into the lobby you will be in awe of its natural beauty and zen like feel.The resort is the perfect size . Not too big and not too small and very easy to get around . Everyone makes you feel special. We went on the bike tour ( offered by the resort ) and snorkelled quite a bit on site. We also walked through Tulum to Yal Kul lagoon where you can also do plenty of snorkelling . We brought our own gear but you can also rent there as well. The food was spectacular and we marvelled at all the selection in the market cafe . My husband loved the Frogs Legs they served at the Japanese restaurant ( first time he had them ). I can’t say anything negative about this place . 5 star all the way !

Grand Sunset Princess: Amazing Resort....

The resort was amazing, the night life on the resort was very good, was always something to do, a very large resort....a lot of walking, there night shows were amazing, the rooms were great, especially the swim outs.

We loved our stay at Grand Princess, the resort was very clean, staff were very hospitable and the variety of activities were excellent! The food wasn’t the best but no one got sick!! We opted for the chill out lounge and it was well worth it!!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Royalton Riveria Cancun

Overall a good resort. I would return however I would probably visit other resorts before returning. I found that if you were not in the Diamond Club you were limited to certain things. For example there were 2 restaurants that we did not have access to. They advertise that there are 7 restaurants however 2 are in the diamond club area. Then 2 restaurants close every night for cleaning / turn over so now you are down to having only 3 restaurants to choose from per night. More so you cannot make  [... read more]a reservation but if you are a diamond club member you can make a reservation. Every night we would wait 1 hour for a table unless you want to eat at 5 pm every night. Not cool. Other than than that the pools were great, lots of activities going and the entertainment staff did a fantastic job. The beach has that invasive seaweed along the shore so I would not recommend the resort as a beach destination. That goes for most of the hotels along that strip. They need to get the seagulls under control around the pool. During lunch from 12 - 2 pm the birds hover your seating area waiting for a child to drop something. They should put some fake owls up or something to deter the birds. Sunwing was fantastic. As soon as I got off the plan and exited customs they were waiting for me with direction on where to go and which bus to take. Very organized. The resort is only 15 min from the airport which was very convenient. Flying our of Hamilton was great. Barcelo Maya Riviera: Nice new resort

Adult only resort is great. -Very clean throughout. -Rooms only have coffee available, we like tea. Had room service bring tea to the room but hot water craft still had a coffee taste to them. -should have no smoking sections for rooms and pool area. - Buffet availability for dinner was a huge disappointment as it was closed most of the time. For breakfast there was only 2 stations cooking eggs / omelettes resulting in long lineups. Should have boiled & pouched eggs available. - Premium level was value added with a wonderful view of the ocean. - Staff very friendly with mist having a good understanding of English.

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful Resort

The overall experience was excellent..the food, the variety of restaurants, service, cleanliness, friendly staff and layout of the resort. The only thing that I was disappointed in was that the entertainment at night was not long enough. It shut down at 10 or 10:30 pm and not everyone is interested in going to the Disco.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Great resort

My husband and I found the resort very clean, staff was very friendly and always ready to help if you needed anything. Food was good. The only thing that needs improvement is to let people know that the resort is on a cliff and that there are lots of steps.

Grand Sunset Princess: Awesome trip, but room for improvements

The hotel was beautiful for the age, grounds were clean, tons of animals and little critters which was a plus for my boyfriend and i. service was good, drinks were good, food was simply OK compared to some resorts that i have said at before. We upgraded to the deluxe junior suite which was worth the few extra dollars simply as the rooms are in the middle of the resort were all the activities and the pools are located. Preferred the taco hut over the lunch buffet personally but the buffet was still good for lunch. Breakfast had tons of variety and always had delicious fresh fruits. Supper was OK oriental night was amazing, steak house and teppanyaki were delicious but besides that nothing to get too excited over, one night the buffet was so icky that we had to go to the sports bar which is open 24 hours and get burgers and fries which were super yummy. The bar staff at the sports bar were awesome and fun, not to mention had a larger variety of cocktails to offer compared to the pool bar. Beds were comfy but found the pillows to be a little hard for my liking but that would be my biggest complaint about the room as the showers were hot and had the perfect amount of water pressure. My biggest down fall for this hotel would be lack of seating around the pool as the seat savers get up at 5am every morning to reserve seats around the pool that they never use. UGH but that is no fault of the hotel and happens literally everywhere!!!! I would not hesitate to return if i was to find the right price like i did this trip. We had a great time, and the few minor things mentioned would not be enough to not tell you to give it a go, age is just a number doesn't make the place any less beautiful than any of the newer hotels.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Big Hotel with small hotel feel

Air Transat’s Xcaret Occidental Great hotel...quite large hotel with a small hotel feel! The planning and attention to detail everywhere is excellent. The strongest point in Xcaret Occidental is their fabulous staff and the resorts commitment to keeping the place clean everywhere!! Bonus points for both those. The choice and quality in restaurants is also above the average. I particularly enjoyed The Oriental restaurant and sushi with lots of non sushi items. Even the Saki is included. You c [... read more]an enjoy breakfast and lunch right at the beach or at a the larger buffet. The beach the pools and the resort are both set up perfectly for families and there are lots of both! However, you never felt inundated with kids/families. This small resort feel comes at the expense of a lot of walking to get around. My 10,000 steps was easily completed by 1pm each day. There is a tram to save walking but I never seemed to find it when I wanted a ride. Good fun to see the wildlife just hanging out although the monkeys can get quite brazen. Rooms large and comfortable and as everywhere...clean. Another strong point is the easy of on site access to the famous park Xcaret Experience. Well worth participating in. Would li recommend Xcaret Occidental...absolutely !!!..as long as you can accept a lot of walking and families having fun!!

Grand Decameron Los Cabos: Not as advertised

I would give this resort a 2.5 star and here is why...The hotel might as well not be located on the beach as the beach is NOT swimmable! Smh. Disappointment. The resort is definitely an older people resort. Older like 50+. All the doors to the rooms need to be worked on as they all look like they were kicked in at one point. We got locked out of our room at 9pm. The security had to climb the balcony to gain access to our room and let us in. The lock to the door just stopped working. The next mor [... read more]ning they moved us to a room 7 doors down. The door to the room would not LOCK! We had booked an excursion so we called down and told them to fix the door and if our things go missing while the door can not lock (because they could not fix it right away) it will be the hotels responsibility. The 3 good things about the hotel are 1. It is clean 2. Staff are nice 3. Food is good there just is not a lot of options.

Riu Santa Fe: Beautiful Resort

The resort itself was beautiful and very clean. A bit to big for my liking. Lots to do for young and old. Staff was very pleasant and friendly. The biggest complaints I have are the partying in the hallways and not having all the restaurants open every night

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Awesome resort!

I Really enjoyed this resort. The food was awesome at all of the restaurants, the sensai restaurant was my favourite. The beach always had chairs. The entertainment was really great to watch. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was so helpful!

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Incredible resort!!!!

This hotel is nothing short of being amazing. Everything someone could want on an all inclusive vacation. The property is in prestige condition and they take care of this property like it’s meant for royalty’s.

Ocean Coral and Turquesa: Great hotel, but dont nickel and dime me on the way out

Pros: Has 4 pools. All of the staff were super helpful and friendly. Food is great if you get there when the buffet opens. If you get there at the end, all the good food has gone. Price was great. Rooms are a little dated, but who is really hanging out in their room at a resort. Provided lots of entertainment if you are in to that sort of thing. Cons: If you want late check out, they want $10usd per hour over late checkout. Why nickel and dime me, when I just spent money to stay at [... read more] your all inclusive place. Obviously I chose all inclusive so I wouldn't be nickel and dimed. Seriously. $10usd per hour isn't going change your revenue much, but it surely buys you a lower review. Knocked a couple of stars off of my review.

Grand Sunset Princess: Very Large Resort!

The resort itself was beautiful and well maintained. A La Cartes were good, buffet on other hand we found that the hot buffet part was not hot(by the time you got to your table the food was cold). We also found that overall the food at the buffet was not really that good. Staff was very friendly and courteous, service was excellent. The beach was immaculate. Entertainment was good with a good variety to entertain all ages. Room was amazing- maid cleaned very well and fridge was well stocked.
