Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful resort

The Iberostar is absolutely beautiful. The lobby is big extending to an outside deck overlooking the pool area. The grounds are well kept, 4 nice pools and delicious drinks and coffee. The sand is a bit coarse which I didn't enjoy much but still a nice beach with lots and lots of umbrellas. The food is good but repetitive. I would go back to this resort.

Melia Varadero: Beautiful vacation in a lovely peace of paradise

Dear friends at Melia....I have spent a beautiful week as a single person in Melia Varadero at the beginning of April. My time there has been every little bit wonderful as I was hoping. Vacationing alone was never causing a single issue and made it for even more interaction and caring by the hotel staff... Melia Varadero Hotel is kept in excellent shape, well maintained and clean. Everything in the room was lovely, and it w [... read more]as kept clean and welcoming by my sweet maid, Jaqueline and supervised by Balkis....Both where extra friendly and helpful and went beyond their jobs to make my stay wonderful! The hotel is situated on the lovely stretch of white sandy beaches, and even though there are some rocks on beginning of the beach and a bit of walking to "clear sand", it was absolutely georgeous. Landscape, views from the grounds, sunsets and many places to sit, relax and look at the ocean make it for amazing experience. Two outdoor bars are excellent for the morning coffee and breakfast or those daytime mojitos, coffee stops and casual sitting in your bathing suit.... I enjoyed chatting with the wonderful and acommodating hotel staff (Luis, Dania and a few others)... I visited all of the hotel restaurants except for the stake house (dont eat red meat) and can recommend all of them. Food was very good especially when you get to know what are the specialties of each one... My favourite place for lunch quickly became either Trinidad, by the window, with excellent calamari and white Spanish wine or deliceous paella in Brasas...at night I loved visiting Brasas again for atmosphere, food and people; I also enjoyed my sushi experience and an evening at more upscale Fuertaventura with amazing food and nice music... Among best restaurant staff is the trio in Brasas: Erianna, Henry and chef Dashael; preparing great food, serving you with smiles and are so lovely and friendly...! Entertainment in the hotel was very good, excellent young dancers and animation team, active but not too pushy, though is a little noisier by the pool as usual... I joined aerobic classes with Daira which where great... Live daytime music was lovely, thanks to the wonderful and talented Trio Vocal Renaserra... who are awesome entertainers and became my dear friends so quickly... Please keep them !!! Special pleasure were visits to the lovely and affordable art gallery in hotel, as well as chats with Liudmila who will cheerfully book your restaurants and make great suggestions...Reception was very fair - one and only issue with my room phone was fixed right away. The only suggestion for hotel would be a fresh coat of white paint outside and not as loud evening music in disco which didnt disturb me, but can see it a problem for guests on lower floors. The place I did not enjoy was the buffet restaurant: it is too big, too loud (lots of cutlery and dishes dropping) and definitely needs redesigning of some sort....Food there didnt impress much either, but fresh juices were great! ...then I didnt need it much with all the other food options... you can also take the breakfast and eat outside as well....I used to spend most of the time at the ocean, but pool is very nice and clean and makes for great alternative. Plenty of showers, lots of towels.... Smiles, sun and music everywhere... Overall, it was an amazing stay and I would definitely recommend Melia Varadero and people who make it so special...Cuba and wonderful Cuban people never disappoint!

Los Delfines: Cozy and friendly resort

The resort is small which I like. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Its right in the middle of town which I prefer, do not like being up in the peninsula on a resort all day. I like being able to walk around and go to different restaurants or just looking around. The staff are exceptional, bar staff great. I have been there 8 times and plan to keep going back. They are like my family now.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great Beach-Spring 2017

The main building and rooms need major work. The public bathrooms on most days did not have toilet paper, which left you using paper towel if there was some or having to make a run for your room. The weather, beach, outdoor dining areas and staff where great. Location of resort was fantastic. Would only return if they did renovations.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

This resort was beautiful. The layout of this resort is great. The staff very friendly. And very helpful. A lot of stuff going on at this resort. Beach was beautiful. Nightly shows every night. The only down point was that the food in buffet didn't change much at night time. You would think they would have salad every night. Which they only had it one night. Sometimes the food wasn't that hot. Which it should be. A la carte were really good.

Barcelo Solymar: below expectation

I am a regular traveller and rather easy going but I must say the Barceló Solymar in Varadero was a disappointment. It is extremely rundown and unkept. We arrived only to find out that the bungalow we booked was not available till the following day. When we got our bungalow is was rather scary looking, six huge patch holes in the tub and no shower curtain, huge crack in the wall a couple of inches away from the patio door, so large that you could see outside. Railings to the stairway to sec [... read more]ond floor of bungalows were loose and made it difficult for the elderly travelers with us to support themselves coming up the stairs as the railings literally shifted as you touched them and screws were not sticking out of deteriorated concrete. You had to look down when walking as there were many potholes from crumbling walkways everywhere on the resort. One of our travel companions' foot went through the grid of the pool and she fell through and injured her leg. The hotel lobby washroom was out of order for 1.5 week that we were there. Food was below standard and most of the 6 travel companions were sick throughout the trip as a result of the food, often only ate buns or rice, as you were afraid of having anything else. Staff tended to give service to latin speaking clients and serve them first regardless of the order you arrived at the front desk or the bar. Beach was nice but water was rough. Temperature was good while we were there. I was told it was a lively resort but found the entertainment boring. The one advantage is you are a five minute walk from local bars and the area seemed very safe and secure when you ventured off. Overall, very disappointing, I will not recommend Cuba to anyone, nor will I ever return.

Playa Vista Azul: Very nice resort

Only a few negative comments..... Lobby unimpressive(seating very uncomfortable), understaffed for services, and Wi-Fi terrible. The resort itself was very clean and lots of activities every day.Overall,we enjoyed our stay and would consider going back !

Club Tropical: J'aime cet hôtel !!!

J'aime cet hôtel pour plusieurs raisons! La première c'est le personnel chaleureux qui y travail! Maritza,Ernesto,Owen,Noël,et les autres sont là pour faire de vos vacances les meilleurs! Il est situé droite au centre de Varadero! On peut marcher et voir pleins de petits marchés, boutiques, restaurants ...C'est un petit hôtel avec plein de charme et un bon massage! Merci Oscar! Notre chambre était jolie et très propre avec un balcon vue sur mer! La plus belle plage, le sable blanc et l'eau d'une couleur inexplicable!!!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly 😐

The grounds here were lovely. The food wasn't bad, always something to eat. However the snack bar was not open when we were there and there were times when it would have been nice to have had it available to use. The evening stage shows were amazing!!! The people were lovely and the weather was great except for the persistent wind! The beach...oh the beach was truly amazing and the water warm, never a problem finding a chair! The pool was great for children but a bit shallow for Adults. It was a [... read more]lso showing its age with some chipped tiles, however they were working at repairing those daily. The music at the pool was very loud and it was difficult to read and relax at the pool!! But for Children... the pool was the place to be!! Water slide and lots of activities!!! The bars were busy and the bartenders great! Spanish coffee at the lobby bar was delicious! Then there were the rooms.... oh the rooms... sadly they are in need of major renovations. They were very worn down and not very clean. The maid made the bed daily and tidied up a bit( we kept our stuff pretty neat and tidy anyway) and she pushed the mop through the main walk area of the room ( we saw this ) there was dirt in places that was there when we arrived and there when we left. The bathtub had dust on the ledge of the corners when we arrived that was there when we left, There was dirt that was caked to the outside of the tub that looked liked it would require a putty knife to scrape off.... it had been there a while. The sheets were questionable the first night so I slept on my own beach towel . The next morning I stripped the sheets off the bed and they did give me fresh ones and I felt better about sleeping in the bed after that. The used hand towels were changed most days but not every day.We didn't spend a lot of time in our room but the rooms were disappointing. The other issue at this resort were the mosquitos!!! Ughhh they were horrid. There were 4 of us and we ALL had bites of various degrees. Some bad enough to seek medical help! We used bug spray every day And again at bedtime and STILL got bitten! My daughter stayed two resorts down the beach from us and had no mosquito problems? We had big mosquito problems. 😩 So the rooms were old and not the cleanest and the bugs were bad. We were return guests which didn't seem to mean anything either. We didn't complain.... perhaps we should have but we were there and decided to make the best of it and we did. The beach made it all ok... despite the wind which was fierce a couple of days.

Memories Jibacoa: Amazing !

As experienced travelers to Cuba, we have experienced all kinds of service, from good to down right horrible ! This hotel is simply amazing ! It all starts with the very hands on management group starting with Ernesto and Miguel. They were always out and around the resort talking to guests, getting their feedback and offering any assistance they could. This great service filtered down to all of their staff. It truely feels like your home away from home. For those who like a small resort this is absolutely perfect ! You are only a short walk to the beach, the pool or the main lobby. I could go on and on about the property but go and visit and you will agree with me. As can be confirmed by the number of guests that have been coming back year after year. That should say something !!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort!!

For Cuba...food was great, entertainment was fabulous and the accommodations were comfortable and clean. Only complaint was service in lobby bar. Very slow and not engaging with customer. Otherwise, a great vacation and I will return

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Decent resort for Cuba

This resort is overall just okay. It was my first time travelling to Cuba so I wasn't expecting the best as far as food went. But as far as grounds and room go it's just okay as well.. Im not super picky but my room was an upgraded room so they said.. Did have new upgrades but they didn't work so well...dim led lights in bathroom couldn't even shave properly.. the shower had a massive fancy shower head that only trickled out water when u tilted it on a strong enough angle.. water leaking out o [... read more]f a wall in the living area, couple things from the buffet gave me the runs. This resort is smaller and the pool is small too with no swim up bar. Regardless to say we are a young couple 25 and 28 and even though everyone there was older 45-70 unless it was a teenager with their family we still were going to make the best of it and we're having a decent time until we had our meeting with he tour rep and heard people complaining heavily about the rooms and everything and they demanded to switch hotels so we said we wouldn't mind doing the same thing if possible, which is what we did, switched to Iberostar Laguna Azul went from a 3* to a 5* in my opinion with everything food, resort, entertainment, crowds of people. Personally I would never come here again but for older people who like a quiet resort with no entertainment this may be an option for them.

Playa Caleta: Amazing resort!!

The only bad thing about the resort was that it was not within walking distance into town. There was supposed to be a shuttle bus that would take us from the resort to the bus stop, but broke down. We always found food to eat and I am a picky eater! We always had fresh clean sheets and towels every day! I found everything to be clean, neat and tidy. Always had hot water for a shower. They said we can drink their water, but I never did. I have nothing negative to say about this resort!!

Playa Vista Azul: Nice facilities, poor customer service

Nice infinity and party pools. Two nice beaches. Not enough umbrellas. Nice spa with great massage. Rude lobby bar staff. Unattetentive and unorganized buffet wait staff. Staff are only nice to some people. Animation staff are friendly.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Older Resort

The resort is older, seemed short staffed when we arrived, service seemed to get better during our stay, food was very plain but could always get something to eat. Hotel needs updating, rooms were always cleaned we had a great maid Gladyalys, waiter's in lobby Justine, Pedro & Carlos were terrific. Mosquito's were very bad, some people were covered in huge bites. We had to request an iron, chairs for balcony, received them with help from Sunwing Rep Karen. We always have a great time and enjoy the Cuban people, entertainment,beautiful beach, I wouldn't stay there again, I think I will stick with Iberostar brand resorts for our next trip

Melia Las Americas: WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN IN A HEARTBEAT

This is a beautiful resort, with very friendly staff. The food had flavour (which for Cuba is saying a lot from our past experience). We arrived later in the evening just before the buffet was closing for the night. Boris was checking us in, and advised to go get something to eat and we could finish checking in after. We also met Wilfredo in the buffet restaurant - he was just as great as Manuel. The bungalow we were in was large, clean and comfortable ( and it hadn;t been renovated yet) Living room area, dining room area, large bedroom, walk in closet - 2 sliding doors to the veranda. We were very close to all restaurants, and the bungalow was super close to the swim up pool with the snack bar. We spent most of our time there as the pool was hardly used by anyone else. There were 4 cabana's and several deck loungers. Alberto was our main bartender there - he makes an absolutely delicious Banana Mama. He is also super friendly. The beach was clean and very sandy. The next resort over was a bit rockier - but you could go on either. There are several excursions you could do, but we chose not to go on any this time. We were speaking with another guest who comes back every year for a golf tournament - he said it is a good course that is fun to play. (for any golfers out there)

Playa Vista Azul: Great resort! I would return there for sure!!!

It was a great resort! Brand new and the food was surprisenly good taking into consuderation we were in Canada. The staff's English skills are not good. Half of the staff was very friendly the other half not so much.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Awesome Resort

The resort was amazing. The rooms were good. The beds were ok. The food was good including the ketchup. The pools were amazing and a blast. The entertainment was great. The beach was out of this world. The plant and vegetation was amazing. The best for last was the staff, they were friendly,helpful and worked hard to keep that resort running.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Paradise Revisited

What do you think? Naviti, Varadero, Cuba is ideal for clean white, sandy beaches, clear waters, dry sunny days and breezy nights. It is where the sun rises and sets in full view beneath palm trees on beautifully cultivated grounds. The private beach offers quiet solitude enjoyed with a book and/or beer. It also offers opportunities to bask in the sun or lie in the shade while gazing at the limitless aquamarine sea - quite mesmerizing and relaxing with a cocktail. Customer service is goo [... read more]d for English speakers and better for affluent Spanish speakers - not surprising though nothing gratuity cannot resolve. Canadian travellers should be aware of what my globetrotting friends call "Cuban-ness", where visitors' concerns are addressed based on availability and urgency. For example, no air conditioning is considered urgent and mint for mojitos are subject to availablility. Cuba delivered on its promise of excellent weather rain or shine. The rain was warm, intense and brief which doesn't matter when you're already on the beach or in your suite. You may have to refresh your cocktail or enjoy it under the many shaded outdoor facilities; Cubans are most accommodating. Naviti also made connecting with fellow travellers easy and enjoyable. Some share juicy tidbits about their stay, their journey into Veradero's markets and clubs, diverse ways they enjoy haggling with merchants while others elected to keep to themselves. However, Naviti is a stand-alone resort with shopping opportunities, remarkable entertainment for adults and children (the Opera performaces in the lobby were outstanding!) and a bartender/server to help maximize one's getaway without needing to venture outside the resort. Naviti is a good experience for seven days. Canadians seeking to enjoy paradise without fuss, drink by the pool or at the beach and acquire a killer tan will thoroughly enjoy Naviti, Veradero - qualities in my first time resort experience that deserves a four star rating. Club Kawama: Terrible Food!

Pool & beach were excellent; food was terrible and the layout of the buffet was awful. The line-up to the grill blocked other areas of the buffet so people were shoving all the time. If the food improved, we would love to go back to Kawama as we enjoyed the social aspect otherwise I'm not so sure. We paid for two superior rooms - one had pool view but had to share balcony with strangers and one had canal view but no ocean view even though we booked the first of January. Also requested adjoining  [... read more]rooms (for our children) but did not receive them which was inconvenient even though the rooms were everywhere on the resort. There were many Cubans using the resort (no bracelets) and they were rowdy in the pool and obnoxious at the buffet. Loved the relaxed atmosphere of the resort.
