Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Perfect Vacation

My wife and I had a great time at the resort. The property was very well taken care of. The gardens were well groomed and the workers friendly. The pool area was clean and the waitresses looked after our needs....drinks. There were a lot of seats but if looking for an umbrella you needed to be down by 9am to reserve your shade. The rooms were cleaned and always had clean towels and the bar was full. The food at the restaurants was awesome. The food at the buffet was just as good as the a la cart [... read more]e.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Great time with the fam !

Travelled Nov 14-21; there were 9 of us (3 children, 11, 10, 7). Lovely hotel, clean, service could have been a little better. Beach great but need water shoes. Ocean view rooms excellent. Food ok but not always hot enough and ran out of plates at the buffet quite often. Steak restaurant the best, Japanese very good as well. Italian good but not very Italian.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good value

This resort is still great value for your dollar, we had great weather, good food and the people were very friendly. On the down side, Akumal is no longer assessable and this was the best area and best beaches. 5 of the 6 times we previously stayed at this resort was at Akumal. You can use the beach but no drinks or food. They are selling this off as time shares. If we had known that when we booked, we may have gone elsewhere. Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Best First Experience

We had a terrific vacation, simply the most amazing experience of my life!!! I cant beleive how well everything went. We met "Lode " from your company at the resort and she gave us a run down on what's what, the dues, answered all out questions, the do's and don't and dispelled many rumours with facts. She also saw us off at the airport before our departure. She was very nice and very helpful and we noticed that not all the guest or tours had a contact person to inform them. Excellent idea/serv [... read more]ice on your part. The hotel was great. It has a relatively fresh look and the rooms and grounds were clean. Thank you for the balcony room. We had a view of the ocean and were not far from the main centre. for a couple of bucks a day on the pillow, we had very clean rooms, spotless and a well stocked minibar (so important). The bed was good and plenty of towels and pillows. The hotel was not even half filled and this led to no line ups for drinks, food or information, so awesome. The staff was number one, they really love their jobs and you can tell. We met a lot of nice people, very helpful and inclusive in all events and lessons. they are a freindly gang and really helped in briging the guest together. the laughs and fun never stopped. they have a small spanish lesson everyday at 10 for about 15 minutes. This was a huge benefit to us and we got more positive responese with the efforts we were making to communicate. The beach is very nice, the winds were not too bad and the waves were excellent. The beach is clean and not too many local salespeople on the beach. They were pretty respectful of the guest and not too pushy. The pools are equally as nice and clean. not too many kids during our week so at times, the common pool seemed a lot like the adult only pool. The food was supurb and the drinks did not stop. We anticipated needing some condements and fillers and spicy sauce but had no need for any of them. The flavours are varied and bountiful. the fish is so fresh and the buffets were filled with several different cuisines. all beakfasts, lunches and dinners were all delecious and ample. The 2 a-la carte restaurants were classy and refreshing. The service was magnificent. Ladies need sleeves at these dinners, no wraps allowed. The entertainment was good. We stayed and watched every show that they had in the evening. they were mixed between skits and dancing troops. They had humour in most of their shows. the casino was fun and on the grounds, as was the night life. both were all but empty and many of the shops were not open. but by 10pm, after the show, you have already had a very long day. The wild life was present but not intrusive. not many misquitos, but sand fleas were biting people that they found tasty. Strange that I received very few bites but my wife got a dozen or more, she must taste better. The repellant that we brought from home was a great idea and solved that problem immediatly. We did not do many of the chargeable events, no excursions, no scuba ,no sailing, no need. :-) Thank you for the best vacation ever !! We had the most amazing time and would strongly reccoment this to all our friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: beautiful but cleanliness but disgusting

The beach was nice, the pools are fun and clean. The buffet is really impressive but the room housekeeping...disgusting! They did not clean our bathroom the whole time we were there. They dropped off towels and that was it. I spoke with 4 different people and it took 5 days for them to repair the a/c in my room. It's a shame because had they acknowledge my a/c issue and just washed my bathroom, I would have said this resort was wonderful but cleanliness is a big item for me, so I would not recom [... read more]mend.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not near 5 star service

The priveldge club presentation said it all. They already have ur $$ and that's that. No babysitting services as advertised. No services for my son that I paid full price for even tho he should be free. Awful experience. Service was robotic and unreliable. Evident the training was to provide the minimum.

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: Beautiful beach!!!

The resort is situated on what seems to be a never ending beach. Lots of palapas & trees when you need to get out of the sun, lounges always available and drinks not far away at the beach & pool bars. The resort is clean and well maintained. Staff are gracious, attentive & friendly, although I sense a change of management from last year...perhaps fewer staff available in the dining room and sometimes stretched a little thin?? The food at the buffet although a bit repetitious is good, and we real [... read more]ly enjoyed our dinners at Portofino & El Pescador restaurants. The extra $ for the lobster dinner was worth it. Anyway this was our second visit, and we were a little disappointed that we weren't informed of the construction going on at the former beach bar/snack bar. (It seems that Bahia is painting everything white too which makes even a casual bar/snack bar look a little too formal for me). From early morning til evening there was plenty of construction noise at the "quiet" beach and since our room was nearby we had to endure it whenever we were on our balcony. Too much like being in the city! On good days, snorkelling among the reefs off shore is wonderful! Although when the water isn't clear your can bump into the reefs before you know they're there...so be careful.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: It's was the dream vacation amazing

Accommodation was excellent, the food was delicious and the service was great I would return at anytime and would also recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice place to say with no hassle and great people. Activities thought out the day both a the pool and at the beach, the night life is good as well. There a saying in Jamaica no problems just situation well we feel that and was well taking care of the entire trip.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Good, but definitely not 5 star!!!!!

Grounds, pools, public areas, people all exceptional!!!! Rooms a little dated, buffet good but boring after a few days. Restaurants a big farce!!!!! Had to beg to get a reservation then when we got there, the place was empty. No great loss, most of the ones we went to were NOT as good as the food at the beach snack bar. Don't bother getting dressed up, no one else does and staff don't care.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Luxury stay

Very good resort, food is awesome. A-la carte restaurants are the best we ever had. Only negative thing about this resort is bad internet, I would say we didn't have internet at all.We will recommend this hotel to our friend.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Villas 66 excellent location clean and comfortable

Villa we stayed at was clean, always stock with plenty of water and pop. Towels were clean when required. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to please you... Very safe relaxed comfortable resort. Entertainment is terrific. Food very good, much variety. Great resort to stay at, Very relaxing.

Overall an amazing place to visit. Lots to do, never boring. Great food and service. This resort had the perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment. I would love to take everyone I know there. There is something for everyone no matter your age or interests!

Overall a very good resort. Something for everyone. Very clean.friendly staff.Entertainment in the evening was something to look forward to. Spa service was excellent. Try and use hotel tours. Was better and cheaper.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Beautiful Resort!!!

This resort was very nice. The food at the buffets and restaurants were excellent. The rooms are incredibly spacious and comfortable. The A/C however could of been slightly colder but it was okay. The service was outstanding, very friendly and efficient. If you want to get to the beach quickly and have more choices to sit, than I would recommend Talum. The pools at Coba and Talum are simply fantastic and the entertainment staff are hilarious and fun. The transportation to get around Coba was fine, minimal waiting and its also a great way to meet people from other countries. Coba's lobby is simply unbelievable and everynight it was active. Lastly, for all those worried when they look a the weather forcast and see rain everyday before they leave on their trip, ignore it!!!

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Did not meet expectations

The hotel and grounds were beautiful and well kept. The service for the most part was excellent. The room was clean and except for the broken thermostat and roof leak we enjoyed our stay. We were very disappointed in the water. It was not a typical Caribbean Sea. It was murky, you couldn't see the bottom and it was not pleasant for swimming.

We arrived at this hotel late on Friday, Nov. 14th. The reception desk was not prepared to receive us as they only had 2 staff members working that evening and our group numbered 35+. It took about an hour to process everyone. In the past, we have received our keys and info on the hotel either on the bus coming to the resort or at a large table, and then are expected to Our room was fine-we had requested building #60 or #61. We were in #61 and it was a great location-close to the pool, beach, b [... read more]uffet, shuttle bus. There are some new Ambar buildings and they are supposed to be spectacular. We didn't get into those, probably because we had requested #60 or 61. People we met said that their rooms in the new buildings were out-of-this-world. Those buildings would be further from the beach, but a shuttle bus runs every 5 minutes. Since we were at the Ambar, we could eat out at the a la carte restaurants every night. We had prebooked these restaurants via email and were pleasantly surprised when all of our requests were met. Service at all the restaurants was excellent-almost too quick at times because we didn't have that much time between courses. The food was excellent at all restaurants!!! The resort was very busy, even though we thought that we were there very early in the season. One member of our party always got up at 6am to place towels on beach loungers and watch the sun come up. I did this once and it was wonderful. Many people were up very early to claim their favourite spot on the beach. A minor inconvenience. We really enjoyed the all adult atmosphere at this resort. I would come back if given the opportunity.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: So disappointed

Wow, where do I begin!!! My wife and I just came back Nov 6-13/14, staying at the Bahai Principe Ambar, which just opened 3 days prior to our arrival. We have gone to Punta Cana for vacations probably for the last 10-15 yrs and have always stayed at the Riu Palace right next door to this resort, however, we thought we would try this resort as it came highly recommended !! What a mistake - I kept wishing we had gone to Riu the whole time we were there!! Our bad experience started right from the s [... read more]tart when staff tried to take us to our room and COULDN'T FIND OUR ROOM!!!! He finally found it after probably 1/2 hr looking. We were in room # 82401, on the 4th floor. Our first reaction was that the room was very nice, however, after getting settled into our room we realized that we were going to have a lot of issues. First of all, only half the lights were working in our room, the toilet was broken not flushing, phone did not work, bathrobes and room safe were both stuck to wet paint in the closet, cement trowel and garbage left everywhere in the room, no shower stall, just a bathtub with a shower attachment laying in the tub - had not been attached as yet to the wall and nothing to stop the water from going everywhere when we showered. We were on the 4th floor and there was no elevator in the building at all!! So beware - you better be healthy if you stay here cause you will be walking a lot of stairs!!!! We went to reception to advise of all our room issues and were told by Melissa that she would take care of it.........NOT!!!!!!! We went everyday to try to resolve our issues, but no one did anything. We were wanting to use the safe in the room but instructions on how to use it were incorrect, so Melissa said if we went to our room she would send someone up to show us how to use it. We waited 45 minutes and no one ever showed up to help us!!!!! We arrived on Thursday afternoon and after going everyday to try to get the safe fixed, finally by Monday after talking to our Transat representative, Hugo, they sent up, I guess he was a manager, Hector, who helped us with the safe. We discussed with Hector all the other issues we were having, He said he would take care of it. Once again we were lied to and no one did anything!!!! Customer service at this resort is non-existent.......bottom line no one cares if you have issues or not. We had to shower for the whole week with a hand held shower head with water going everywhere as it was not attached to the wall. We had to flush the toilet with water in the ice bucket as it broke and would not flush.......so much for luxury hotel.......... Someone finally showed up to look at toilet and sort of fixed it........it would run constantly but at least did finally flush. We had no phone for 5 days which is not only a safety issue but so much for 24hr room service!!!! We never got the lights fixed.........had to take a floor lamp into the bathroom so we could see!!!! Pretty sad!!! We also spoke to a manager at reception by the name of Aldo - who of course did nothing as well!!!!! We had no one clean our room and bring us clean towels to shower for 2 days!!!! When the maid finally found where we were, she made up the bed but left the pillows with nothing on them!!!! Had to find someone and try to tell them that we needed pillow cases for our pillows!!! The next time she came she put pillow protectors on pillows but no pillow cases!!! At this point we gave up and just left them the way they were!!!!! This resort is huge!!! It was a 5 minute ride on a shuttle just to get to the beach!!! Had to pay someone everyday just to find a chair to sit on the beach!!!! The buffets were so busy and congested and most items in buffet were empty - not enough staff to keep items filled up. We will never go back to this resort!!! We will be going back the Riu Hotel chain where staff really does care about their clients and will actually follow-up and will try to make your vacation the best possible.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great time at resort

The room was clean and they were very attentive to our needs. Bringing exta towel and face cloths each day. The food was good but at times the buffet for wasn't as hot as it should have been but still very tasty. Beach was sandy and no fighting for chairs .

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Amazing vacation!!

This resort was sooooo clean and beautiful. The staff was so friendly and generous. We were gold members so we received fruit platters on occasion in our room and turn down service every night. Building 14 was my favourite for sure. Would recommend anyone to go here!!

The resort is quite nice esthetically,. Rooms are comfortable and clean. The resort is well maintained. So on the surface, it is a beautiful place. However, there does not seem to be a regular cleaning schedule for the maids to make up your room. On one evening, We were in our room, getting ready to go out for dinner in one of the restaurants. There is a definite communication issue with the staff. They are all quite friendly and genuinely nice but their lack of English communication skills causes for some difficulties. The three a la carte restaurants are substandard to okay with the seafood restaurant at the bottom of the list. I would have to rate it at zero stars due to inconsistent service, substandard food and poorly trained staff. The Italian restaurant would receive 2 stars because the food and service is a bit better and the French restaurant (that everyone says is the best one) would be 3.5 stars because they provide a higher level of service and moderately better food. The French restaurant is the only one that does not incorporate a buffet as a portion of the meal. At both the seafood restaurant and Italian restaurant, you leave your table to visit a small buffet (salad / soup / appetizer bar) and then also visit a dessert bar for dessert. Both of those restaurants are missing some of the basic service skills such as offering coffee with dessert, having the proper cutlery available on the table and ensuring that the plates and cutlery on the table is clean. The buffet restaurant onsite is average buffet food with some cold items that are at an unsafe holding temperature to long to be safe to eat. The staff in the buffet restaurant is poorly trained and miss the basics to good customer service such as have the tables set properly, attend the guests' needs, inadequate supply of serving utensils on the buffet, mislabeled food items on the buffet, etc. Based on my experience with the shoddy customer service and sub par food quality and preparation, I would not go back to this resort an would not recommend it to friends. Other than these issues, the rest of the stay was very pleasant. The pool was nice. the view to a west facing beach was wonderful (although the water was basically unswimmable due to the presence of swarms of jellyfish). The water is brackish (which happens when a fresh water source comes in contact with a salt water source (it makes the water look murky and dirty but it is not, it's just a natural chemical reaction)
