Melia Cayo Coco: Travel in COVID Times

This was a 3rd 1 week trip to this resort in the past year and I was impressed by how deligent the staff were to adapting to COVID restrictions. Staff always wore thier masks and politely asked guests to wear them in covered areas (ie buffet, restaurants and Front Desk) The required COVID test was admistered within the required 72hours by medical staff. The beaches are lovely and the resort is very clean. The daily replemishing of the fridge was welcomed. As a frequent guest to Cuba it never fails to amaze me as to the friendleness of the people and the geniune appreciation of the gifts you bring down (toiletries, school supplies, kid's toys, etc). The food choices were good and of course the drinks were great I am looking forward to my next trip

Playa Pesquero: Great Value

Well maintained resort -always working on maintenance and cleaning. Friendly staff. COVID testing simple and well organized. Great sandy beach - lots of loungers and staff to help you set-up. Huge pool - spotless.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Very good resort.

Everything was excellent. Although it has a huge theater but I think due to Covid night entertainments were poor and were just in the loopy. Shaded areas on the beach are limited. If the hotel were fully occupied, it would be hard to find a shaded spot but because I went on a low season there was no problem.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Great Resort

I loved this hotel,so did my daughter who i travelled with for a one week stay.The rooms were very clean,every day the maid came.Our room was 4224 building #42 a short walk from the buffet, lobby, entertainment.The grounds were well kept,there was a lot of painting of the buildings that were not in use ,they did not distract from anyones holiday, they were very quiet,no loud banging,the painting looks wonderful and fresh.As for the restaurants,the buffet was open for breakfast daily,they lacked  [... read more]some things like mayo,pepper,onions,condiments(ketchup,vinigear,) no bacon or syrup for the pancakes.Only ham,sausage,tomato,cheese for the omelet.They are having difficulty getting some products.The supper in the buffet was not open ever day,we had our choice of the other restaurants on these nights.The food was good,but i did stay at this hotel 2 years ago,then the food was better.The pool area is lovely,Lorenzo is the pool bartender,he takes good care of you no matter where you are around the pool or in the pool,his Pina Colada's are the best,make sure you ask him to blend them in the blender.The beach is not the best at this hotel,it has a lot of rocky area,if you walk farther up the beach to Sol Rio De Luna,which is being renovated right now,no one is there,you can swim there.I will tell everyone,the beach is not cleaned every day,much to everyone's dismay,there is a lot of garbage(old sandals,plastic cups,old toothbrushes,etc.)on the beach.They should make sure it is cleaned,people love Cuba,the beach is visually stunning in this area,without the garbage. This hotel is not too large,easy to get around,lots of palm trees.Please make sure you have good covid insurance,plus optimal credit card coverage as someone did test positive for covid,the costs of staying longer were adding up for the lovely person and his wife.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: The best one! 😍

Entertainment is great, best food in Cayo. Everything is very very good. Good service and very nice employees. I recommanded this hotel to all people. The beach is perfect, good location and a lot of chairs

Starfish Jibacoa: Love the villa and the people

We had a great time for 10 days.weather was great our room was on the ocean.the staff was excellent.we did run out of a few things in the buffet,but always got enough to eat.all in all great trip.going again and it will be 23 times,so we love it

Melia Cayo Coco: Best of Cuba

After traveling to Cuba for 25 years and staying in roughly 15 different hotels I still rate this the best. The staff make it what it is. But everything about the hotel is top notch. The food is outstanding. The cleanliness is impeccable. The grounds are spotless. Management goes out of there way to greet guests. It is and will remain to be my go to resort in Cuba. Being 15-20 from the airport is also a huge plus.

Melia Costa Rey: Awesome Resort

I forgot to say that in cuba you paid 30.00 72 hours before you leave to go back to your country for a covid test. It is done on the resort and they give you the time and date. The wait is long to get it done because they only have a doctor and one nurse doing the testing. You wear your mask on the plane in the airport and at certain spots at the resort. Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Didn't meet our expectations

Positive: Staff are Great and do their best within the limitations and constraints. Hard working and nice people. Beach is very good. Ocean is clear and nice. Plenty of sun beds. Beach staff can help to find more if necessary. Good seafood for lunch & dinner in the buffet. Good coffee/cappuccino/espresso at bistro. Good night performances. Every night was a different one. We’ve been at other different resorts in Cuba (4&5 star) and sadly this resort had the worst rooms. Very limited food quantity and variety/options at the buffet (even for Cuba). No beer at the “minibar” during the whole week, no mint, No Mojitos, No daiquiris, No Caesars. Vodka and Scotch run out at the lobby bar. No pepper or salt at a la carte restaurant (we asked for it on the side and it was never brought). No slippers, no robes. Public washroom near the gift shop (around facility) there was no toilet paper and kind of dirty. Everyone is literally smoking at the bars.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Beautiful Resort

This was our first time at this resort and we both were impressed by the hotel, the landscaping and most of all the service provided by the entire staff. No matter where we were the staff always greeted us at every turn and always asked us if we needed anything to let them know. The rooms were very clean and the maids did an excellent job in keeping the room in top shape. The dining was good and the only complaint I have is that the food seemed bland at times. They could use some spicing up. The [... read more] variety was limited but we never went hungry and the buffet dining room was always in immaculate condition. We had a great time and enjoyed our stay.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Impressive resort

We arrived in Cayo Coco after dark and not much to see on the way to the resort. Arrival at hotel was an impressive delight, beautiful lobby area, were served a welcome cocktail during an efficient check-in, all staff encountered masked. Transfered with luggage to our low rise by electric vehicle. First view to the grounds, loved it, well kept lawns between trees, shrubs and other plantings. In morning walk to lobby area and have an espresso or two and then onto to the buffet. An ample dining area, well spaced tables. Our habitis to find a table, greet, the server, request coffee or what ever drink, and then onto the buffet. Relatively standard offerings, well prepared should be something for most, I don't know about accomodations for dietary issues. The best thing about the buffet was that there were servers, something that should continue even after the Covid era, nothing worse than seeing people "pawing over" the food items. Beach is beautiful, sandy, with coral and seashell bits, recommend water shoes for sensitive feet. Rock is visible just off the beach into to the blue water, sand covers it out into the water with sand bars rising and falling as you go out. Not many people when we were there so no problem finding beach chairs and shade. I'm closing just to say it's Cuba temper your expectations, Cubans can only do with what theyhave to work with, so enjoy the sun and the universally pleasent hotel staff. We'll be back.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Fabulous resort and staff!

Visited November 17th for a week and stayed in a Royal suite to celebrate our honeymoon. The grounds, pools, spa, beaches, entertainment and service were all top notch. Highly recommend this resort. So much that we're heading back in January!!! Staff were very attentive and always wore face masks as required by covid procedures. Hand sanitizer stations and personnel were present at entrances to restaurants and common areas. Tables and chairs were sanitized after use. Beach offers a great combination of white sand areas, coral for snorkelling and shade for lounging. Pools were very nice, although the display of public affection by some of the younger visiting locals was a bit inappropriate at times. Highly recommend Paradisus Rio De Oro!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Spectacular resort, amazing staff.

Covid protocols were very straightforward (masks in occupied common areas such as lobby, restaurants, and buffets until seated). Resort recommendations regarding masks are strongly enforced in eating areas, and left to your own consideration in outdoors. Aside from minor pandemic supply chain issues, we highly recommend this beautiful resort. Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Nice resort, kind staff yet disappointing service

The administration of this hotel, although very polite, doesn’t know their job. Our electronic entrance door didn’t work and it took them 2 days to repair the lock. It took them 2 days to resolve broken toilet problem. The food was OK but it felt the hotel was struggling with supplies. The handling of covid regulations was ridiculous: they require now wearing a mask from guests, yet allowing restaurants to be overcrowded. The hotel however I believe tries its best to survive in these difficult times and I wish them the best.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: BED BUGS! Amazing staff

staff was very accommodating but I had alot of issues with my rooms.. yes I changed rooms 3 times. 1 of the rooms had bed bugs 😭 1 was a decent room and my first room my toilet didn't flush! the food was decent if you eat pork. which i don't but I ate chicken from the snack bar alot entertainment was good and the pools were nice. but I have to commend the staff who went over and above to make my stay amazing! check ur beds thoroughly before settling in your room

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful resort

Spent 2 weeks there. Had a great time. Small issues, but just restarting. Food was good. Everyone was very helpful. Looking forward to a return visit. Re-acquainted with friends that I hadn’t seen in almost 2 years. They came and spent the day at the resort with us. Good times

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful Resort

My wife and I spent the week of November 15th,2021 and the beautiful Playa Pesquero. The staff was amazing no matter where you were, the grounds were kept very clean, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the food was limited at the buffet (which we had anticipated, everyone working there way out of Covid),that being said the food was quite good, The beach was amazing with a good Snorkeling location just off to the side with lots of fish. Some of the changes both in traveling and at the resort due to covid: Expect delays at the airport, There were quite a few cubans from Miami that were going home to see there families, with this came large amounts of luggage (gifts,clothes meedicine etc). This caused delays getting luggage checked through, loading and unloading it all off the plane etc. There had also been some lost luggage temporarily. On the resort everyone is required to wear a mask at the buffet and al la cartes, stores etc. same as at home. Sanitizing was taking place constantly. A PCR test was completed at the resort for 30USD and results were the next da I/we have nothing negative to say about the resort , the people or the overall experience. Any minor issues or inconveniences can easily be chalked up to working and traveling through covid. Note: we did learn that cash is not being expected for purchases while on the resort (we did not go off resort) all purchases are done with credit card. We had also changed some Canadian currency for Cuban Peso. I would not really suggest this. Most of what were heard was the Canadian money was a better option. Thank you to the staff at the Playa Pesquero, we look forward to seeing you again. We have already recommended to others and you will be seeing our Niece in December

Playa Vista Azul: Definitely upgrade!

Rooms were good and clean. Staff amazing. Grounds could use some work especially around the main pool area. Lots of peeling paint and cracks. We upgraded to premium and it is definitely wworth it. premium area is well kept and food is much better than the buffet. Condiments are available in premium side but not regular part of resort. I brought my own ketchup Top shelf alcohol at premium bars as well. Thank you to jimmy!! Best bartender!! Don’t get me wrong beaches were pretty but not the best for Cuba. Bathrooms were always clean and staff always wore masks. Can’t say enough about the staff. All excellent and doing their best for you. Take American money. They give a bad rate for Canadian and do not always take Cuban pesos. No sense really getting pesos. We met some wonderful Canadians and had a great time. Food just ok. Would not return to this hotel but if you get a deal it’s worth it to give it a try. Definitely upgrade!!!!
