Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Excellent resort

After reading negative reviews I was worried. The food was the best I’ve had in Cuba in many years. Resort was clean, rooms were clean although dated. The pool was fantastic and beach breathtaking. I never wanted for anything all week. Would return again in the future.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Great week at the tryp

Was at the tryp 30 till may 7th was my 40 time there the staff are so caring and helpfull no shortage s in food or drinks my room was good clean everyday and of course the best beach lots of chairs I would recommend this resort 15 minutes from the airport to thankyou to all staff see you soon

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Great resort awesome staff. Best stay in Cuba in 7 trips

Everything was great. Go with a positive attitude and appreciate the awesome beach, staff. Did not notice any shortages in food etc that we saw on other posts. Looking to go back next year. Melia Cayo Coco: A very special resort

We felt very safe at this resort with no shortage of staff willing to help you . Just by the amount of return guests will tell you they are doing something right .We will defiantly be looking to book this Resort again

Melia Cayo Coco: Truly amazing!

This resort is truly number1 in our hearts and never disappoints. This was our 9th visit to this resort and we were thrilled as always. No shortage of food or drink. Property maintenance it meticulous. Clean, fresh and beautiful. The staff are exceptional and bend over backwards to ensure you are happy. That is everyone from waiters to managers to the gardeners. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Fabulous vacation

We had an amazing time at this resort the week of April 28. Our flight with air transat was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We have travelled to Cayo coco numerous times but never to this resort, but we will be back. There were no shortages to speak of.. we had lots of drinks to choose from, tons of selection at the buffet and amazing experiences at all of the a la cartes. Her little attention to detail made a world of difference and she did an outstanding job. The beach has a few shells upon entry but otherwise, gorgeous. Definitely will return!

The accommodations were great and the service was fine. There is however a list of "not so good" 1. The specialty restaurants were not impressive. The service was fine but the food was basically the same as the buffet. 2. The food in the buffet was largely unidentifiable. Labels would have helped a great deal, and anyone with allergies was certainly at risk. 3. Breakfast was great, eggs, toast and coffee. 4. The rooms were large and well laid out but there was a lack of towels which were not [... read more] changed very often if at all. 5.Name tags would have been nice and would have allowed a more personal interaction. 6. Most of the staff had little knowledge of English so it was difficult to get directions or information. 7. We never knew were meals were available and the entertainment was limited but what there was good. The dancers were very good.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Friendly and welcoming

The Daiquiri is full of character, from the decorations, the colorfully buildings and the landscaping and all the staff are so friendly and very helpful. You can tell they take pride on what they do, from the women who clean your rooms, the gardeners, the cleaning people, the servers, the entertainers and your friendly bartenders and also the front desk staff. We have been to Cuba 7 times and this was our best food ever. We will probably be back. Great beach and always room around the pool.

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: BEAUTIFUL RESORT

The hotel is gorgeous, the staff are great! You will never find such beautiful beaches/ocean. Please feed the cats & abd 3 dogs that roam the resort more in the evening. Please be kind to the hard working staff that do the best they can with what they have.

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Great trip!

Rooms were really nice and updated. Resort and rooms were very clean. Staff were pleasant, especially Danny in the lobby bar. Awesome pools and lots of loungers. Beach was a bit of a walk from the main resort and had lots of seaweed along the beach. Went to playa Pilar beach twice which was a short taxi or bus ride away for $5.00 Cdn per person. Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Pilar-great hidden gem

We, ( a family of 4) just spent a week at Playa Pillar resort in Cayo Guillermo. A quick note: we have been to a number of caraibean resorts before: DR, Cuba, Mexico. Overall: Great experience, a pleasant surprise, so here is why: 1. Behind the deck there is the sandy beach with tons of umbrellas and chairs. Also this hotel beach is located into a golf which is a blessing when the wind picks up in the area. The neighborhood hotels had huge waves conditions when we had the calmest water on earth. AND great for snorkeling. 5stars 2. Food What a great pleasant surprise. As I am always aware that Cuban resorts don’t excel in food, this resort produced a great surprise. Definitely the best food I had in Cuba. With 2 grill stations and stations for : salads, cooked meals, deserts, breakfasts, I believe it checks all boxes. I could clearly see their effort put into elevating the quality of the buffet restaurant. They also had a snack &grill restaurant by the beach wich was opened 24 hrs (!!!!) AND a great Japanese restaurant that can compete w any I have seen in North America 4.5 stars 3. Rooms Initial rooms we got were not prrfect: ground floor that my wife hated plus maintenance issues with sliding door latch, bathroom door that got my daughter locked in, etc… We complained at the front office and they changed to two connecting rooms with an ocean view in an impecable condition. 4 stars 4. Entertainment Poor design, limited resources. Same 5 dancers every night doing pretty much same thing. One night they had a hard rock band with pieces from 80’s which I thought was inappropriate for a crowd that comes to a caraibean land expected to immerse in a different sound. 2.5 stars 5. Service and cleanness Great. Everyone at the resort is very willing to help, they all put a great effort to please. Just keep in mind that these employees go back home to a place that has no electricity for a number of hours every day. 6.Bars/ restaurants Great service but they are face with shortages of supplies so to see days with no Mojitos or Cuba libre, in Cuba, it was shocking. But they had alternatives. And eventually mojitos re appeared. Japanese restaurant:5 stars, the other two restaurants: 3stars. Overall I would give this resort a real: 4.5 stars rating.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Amazing resort

Grounds and public areas are well kept. Room is clean. Dining is passable, don't expect too much in Cuba. Staff are very courteous and helpful. WiFi not too great. Ample lounges in pool area as well as at beach.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: One of the best in Cuba

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Better then expected.

First time in this area. Room and grounds - near excellent. Pools well maintained a very clean without chlorine smell. Beach very long and wide enough with sufficient amount of shade structures. Food - not all to my taste but plenty to choose from. Lamb and fish in the menu almost every day?. On the fruit side - all good. Veggies - could be better. Not many options for vegetarians - I am not one. Many vegetarian looking dishes seem to contain some sausage cut into tiny pieces which are are hard  [... read more]to spot. You want to swim in crystal clear water - take the bus to playa Pilar. You want good snorkeling experience - then this is not your place. Staff very nice and friendly, especially when you show respect as one always should. Two bad things I can't just skip. The door key cards work when they want and whe way they want. The ones given as replacement of the original ones performed even worse. Could be just our door!? The worst thing - the jejenes ( skinny sand flies) that won't let you be too relaxed. Study the matter before you decide on the trip especially if you are allergic to bug bites. My wife suffered quite a lot. Will we go back - No. The only reason - the jejenes. Absolutely recommend this resort if you don't have problems with the little suckers - the jejenes.

Sanctuary White Sands: New build but with issues

We were there April 21-29. The resort is basically brand new so no issues with the nuts and bolts. If only that were so for some of the "softer" elements. Instead of rehashing how nice is the beach and how well kept are the grounds etc., I feel the need to share some of the downsides. It's clear most staff and likely the management are pretty much brand new so take everything with a grain of salt. Here are some of the challenges: #1 - towels (not the beach towels) As we checked into Block 6 i [... read more]t sounded like the housekeeper walking by said "no towels." However, the room was stocked. What we discovered the next day was towels were never replaced. Having stayed at other resorts, we left our used towels on the bathroom floor only later to discover they were merely folded up soaking wet and put back on the shelves! That continued throughout our stay. #2 no new sheets including on day one - My bed had a distinct odour of the previous occupant along with some stains on the sheet. Again, the sheets were never replaced all week. Yuck! #3 The food selection was limited but that was expected. What needed to be improved was the buffet food was rarely hot. It was mostly room temperature. Care for some tepid deep fried calamari or mashed potatoes? #4 Staff at the limited cooking stations were clearly untrained. I felt quite sorry for them. One day, hand-formed hamburgers were the special. The cook prepared them one at a time and didn't move on to the next person until the burger was cooked. Needless to say, the line up quickly became very long. Lack of training resulted in under-cooked fish, over cooked omelettes etc. Note, I'm not criticizing the selection, just the preparation. #5 - After reading the glowing remarks about the bartenders I was surprised at how "meh" they were. Then I realized they saved their charm for the female vacationers. Going back to the positive reviews it was easy to connect the dots. Would I go back? Not likely. What's a scary thought is while the resort was less than a third fill as a "soft opening," it was barely managing to meet the basic needs of its visitors. It's hard to image their management team rising to the challenge. Hope this helps and of course, to each their own!

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Loved the hotel!

Absolutely beautiful hotel. Comfy beds, good size new rooms, huge shower and great service. Lots of pool options with day beds as well and the beach is gorgeous, but careful of the coral reefs. The staff were very friendly and did their best to go above and beyond. The food is what is to be expected in Cuba, but we never went hungry. We had no real shortages, lots of towels and toilet paper.

Valentin Cayo Cruz: Remember where you are and be grateful

This review is for those who are willing to educate themselves on Cuba and their history before coming with expectations! Firstly the Cuban people are sincere and amazing regardless of their circumstances. We came to this resort by accident and loved it. The beach is breathtaking and the water is so pure like the hearts of many Cuban people! We were grateful for what was provided, nothing is perfect but for the resources they have and the location, everything was good and you have all you need. [... read more] Shortages here and there but you can’t blame them, this is not a luxury vacation so it’s confusing to hear people complain about not having food options and eating like a king. For elderly people, there are a number of stairs and the lighting isnt the best at night around pools when going up and down so be careful. As for the service and people, very genuine, they truly do the best they can with what they have !!! Come here for the beautiful water and people. And remember, you are living in luxury to a local!!! Tip in Canadian bills as coins and American dollar not accepted/difficult at their local banks. In our opinion, tip those you see who aren’t generally servicing the tourist but are working behind the scenes or gardening as they don’t have as much of an opportunity to make a bit extra for their families! Bug spray at night and sunscreen in the daytime. Sometimes windy sometimes hot oh well enjoy both. Thanks Valentin for a great stay!

Food was not too bad 8/10 for resorts pools were very nice Bring lots of sunscreen Cubans are very friendly and help you the best they can Beautiful, nice long boardwalk you can jump in to the ocean Snorkelling was absolutely amazing

I write this knowing that Cuba is under embargoes from the USA. However, we are use to certain standards as travelers to Cuba. I have been to Cuba 7 times and would go back....when things get better. The weather was great, the people and staff were very welcoming. The food was typical Cuban in nature. The lack of beef and eggs was something new for us. The lack of international drinks was very disappointing. I'm not a big drinker, but I use to get a better variety of drink options. This is a [... read more] new resort(open two years), so everything is new and fresh. We are use to staying at European owned resorts that get the good stuff. That's why we didn't mind paying a few bucks more. Cuba is still a wonderful place and I will be back when it gives me more bang for my buck. Air Transat and Trip Central took care of us, as well as Ibarostar Esmeralda.

Vila Gale Cayo Paredon: Fantastic resort

I thought the resort's layout was perfect. The pool was near to our room, along with the beach, lobby and buffet area. Our room was ok for a standard room. Always had clean towels. The buffet had great food. Alacarts need much improvement.
