Hotel Bella Costa: Adequate

When we got there, we were not given the room we were originally assigned (1st flr) but claimed this was a very nice room, ocean view (you could see the ocean from any room viewing north or south) (4th flr) was over the outdoor stage and pool, way to noisy. The bathroom ceiling over the tub was falling in. We were relocated to the 5th flr; opposite side a lot nicer yet hall always smelled like a backed up septic system. We didn't have any issue with the food, omelets were worth lining up for and definitely the pizzas in the outside ovens but line up early. The girl needs assistance with preparation but the pizza is great. Beach was terrific as so was the pool and very nicely located to the beach! For the price I'd recommend this hotel if you were on a strict budget if you want a lot more luxury be wary of the room you are given.

Hotel Bella Costa: Beautiful Beach

I've never written a review for anything like this, so I will try to keep it short and sweet: - Beach and ocean were beautiful. - Pool area is nice and the 5:00 pm, daily Bingo was always fun. - Golfing was great, but it was impossible for us to get a tee time. Luckily we just showed up after lunch and had no problem getting out. I suggest booking online before you go. The Michael Jackson show was a blast. - Rooms are VERY outdated and our beds were not very comfortable. My fiancee and I had 2 double beds pushed together ala I Love Lucy. Luckily you don't spend too much time in the room, but by the end we were used to the room and the maid staff was very friendly. - I don't drink alcohol, so water is the only thing I drink. It IS safe to drink the water at the buffets. You also get a 1.5 L bottle of water in your room, daily. Just don't leave the previous bottle out because we found if it's visible in the room they will not leave another one. Same goes for the 2 beer you get, daily. - The food was pretty good. I am a picky eater and I never went hungry. Breakfast has 2 omelet stations and each meal has a wide variety. The pasta guy at the buffet dinner is very entertaining! He works so hard and always has a smile on his face. The chocolate ice cream was always a hit after dinner. There is also a 'Snack Bar' by the beach that serves pizzas. I found them hit or miss. Some days they were great, other days they were meh. - We didn't try the Japanese restaurant, but the Cuban and Italian restaurants were pretty good. - We had some great staff, but there are many who I felt were rude or not friendly. This makes me believe they don't get to keep their tips (I have no knowledge of this). We met some locals who explained to us that 1 convertible Cuban peso is the equivalent to 25 pesos and an average/decent salary in Cuba is 350-400 pesos a month. Some of the staff simply grabbed the money and threw it in a bin and didn't so much as crack a smile. If someone tipped me $25 for serving them a beer, lets just say I'd be at least smiling. I must stress this is not the whole staff. You'll obviously find anywhere, at home or abroad, that some staff are not too thrilled to be waiting on you. The ones that were nice were really nice, the ones that were cold were really cold. We tipped the nice ones! - I recommend going into Varadero. We visited a school to give a donation of baseball equipment. It was a great experience, but be warned about taxi fares. It cost us 20 convertible Cuban pesos to go to the school and then 5 minutes down the road to Varadero's downtown core. We found out we paid that cab driver, for 1 fare, almost as much as a doctor gets in half a month! On the way back...6 convertible Cuban pesos with a different cabbie, in a MUCH nicer car. - Barter prices, but keep in mind it's a win win for both sides. We bought a small painting of the beach for 5 convertible Cuban pesos. He made 125 pesos and we scored a souvenir for $7 Canadian. Overall I would say this resort was good. We had an absolutely great week and the weather was perfect (27-31 degrees everyday and only 2 hours of rain 1 day). I would go back to Breezes Bella Costa again for less money. SO, at the right price (I'd say ~$1,000) you won't be disappointed. That was definitely not short and sweet, but I hope it helped.

Hotel Bella Costa: Exactly what we needed

When choosing to go to Cuba we were very cautious because of what we have heard from fellow travelers i.e. bad food, rundown country ect. Bella costa was a little outdated definitely could use a spruce up the bathroom tiles had that old well used look and the matresses where difficult to sleep on.(very hard) BUT the food was surprisingly good and we ate very well especially the awesome beachside BBQ they did every other day. We wanted a quick winter getaway with sunshine and beaches and that is exactly what we got. Had a great time.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Happy but sad

We had a fantastic time and the Grand Lido. It was our first time and unfortunately our last time, they are demolishing it on April 26th and rebuilding a new one. Great staff, great food, awesome beach

Hotel Bella Costa: Excellent vacation - will return!

Rooms and hotel overall were clean but the building is showing signs of age and in need of maintenance (ie. a fresh coat of paint inside & out). Service & food was outstanding, the best we've had in 10+ trips to Cuba (including a new 5-star resort last year). Proximity to the beach, the town of Varadero and the golf course (#3 & #7 tees less than 100-yds from the lobby) can't be beat. Evening musical entertainment at the lobby bar was excellent. Hotel Bella Costa: My stay in cuba at theBreezes Bella Costa.

The hotel was nice , but the room I had was dated . The one thing you have to remember is you don't spend all your time in the Room. It was very clean. I will go back to Cuba for a Vacation soon, it was so relaxing.

Hotel Bella Costa: Pleasant surprise

After reading so many mixed reviews on trip advisor we were pleasantly surprised. Older rooms but kept spotless. Placed on 1st floor with bar just below. Lots of noise generated by Toronto students on midterm break drinking till 2 a.m. Next year they might be contending with American students on their mid-term breaks. Nice beach and pool. Great food, lots of variety. Staff very friendly and courteous

Jewel Runaway Bay Resort: Absolutely loved it....can't wait to return!

Loved our trip to Jewel Runaway Bay...travelled the last week on January with our 13 yr old son. The resort is the perfect size and easy to get wherever you need to go. The staff are phenomenal from the reception, wait staff, bartenders animationcand maids - and a special shout out to Ash and Purple at the Teen Club...our son thought you guys were awesome. The food was great, rooms were super clean and comfortable and beaches and pool were amazing. Great family resort to relax and unwind - good entertainment at night but not a party place afterwards which was just fine with us. Highly recommend this resort and we will be going again next year. Thought the overall experience was great. Food was really good. Staff was freindly and helpfiull. Rooms abit dated and some issues with weater pressure. The rooms however were clean and were kept clean.

Hotel Bella Costa: Breezes Bella Costa varadero

The grounds were very well kept, our family suit was better than expected. The beach was excellent and the people were very friendly! Had a great trip to Havana and an interesting tour. The lobby bar was fun with many people to chat with and fabulous entertainment.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: awesome

Great place to go to relax.nothing to complain about. The staff was friendly always smiling. Had a great week. Would definitely go again. Even after a windy night , when the seaweed was washed to shore. And I mean seaweed, More than I've ever seen, the beach was cleaned and raked ASAP. The staff did a great job.

Sunscape Curacao Resort: Relaxation Plus!

The grounds were kept in immaculate shape. While there were a lot of guests at this resort, it never seemed crowded. The service was excellent. Our Sunscape representatives were more than willing to help out and find answers for our questions. The only drawback was the buffet restaurant which tended to have a lot of selection but most of it was greasy food. I love salads and it was very difficult to find salads. Hotel Bella Costa: Average hotel

The room we stayed in without a balcony had a good view but not the most soundproof to outside noise. There were two double beds as well as a single in our room. Would of liked the room better without the single since it would of given us more room. Everything was old and there were very few English channels on TV. The channels we did get showed reruns of shows that were just shown on the previous day. The service at the hotel was excellent. It could of been a little cleaner. Sunscape Curacao Resort: Fantastic!

We travelled as a group of 11. Ages 12 to 50. We had a wonderful time. Food was great. Rooms clean, and beds very comfy. Entertainment staff were amazing! snorkelling off beach was perfect. The island is small and very safe for touring. I would definitely go back to the Sunscape in Curacao.

Hotel Los Cactus: Good smaller resort

Property: The location of the hotel was very convenient for golf or reaching the village and the delightful Josone Park (quite walkable, by road or via the beach, but there is plenty of various types of transportation at 3-5 pesos). Greetings and check-in were pleasant. This is a compact hotel with reasonably well tended grounds, though it's a shame that the main buffet restaurant did not have an inspiring view, e.g. gardens/beach/sea, and the darkness in some areas of this large room was not in [... read more]viting. The lobby was small as was the attached (overworked|) bar and so not conducive to a larger gathering. The single pool has no swim-up bar and "unreserved" lounges were at a premium, however there was afternoon entertainment and activities. Room: Plenty of hot water and good pressure. We were told we could drink the water. We had a garden view suite which was clean, large with large balcony and quiet. It had two large closets but would have been a little better if there were more shelving/drawers. Services: The staff varied between appearing very happy and welcoming to those less motivated. In particular, we had sometimes very good and other times curt service at the front desk and the maid service could have been better. Serving staff were good and pleasant and the front line staff had good english, and from what I gathered, good french. The large buffet room (with small stage for evening shows) was not well laid out and the servers were kept running to cover the ground between the drinks bar and the tables. I was pleased to see that one day the hotel give a large party for the staff with food and entertainment in one corner of the property. The hotel did not seem to go that step further to achieve superior service, e.g. no refill of any room consumables (fridge or coffee/tea maker) and no apparent beach or pool assistance / service for lounges or drinks. It didn't help that the wi-fi wasn't working so we trekked to the nearby Bella Costa hotel to use it (when flight was delayed by 12 hours). In general, tips seemed expected. Entertainment: I can't comment on the disco - didn't go. The nightly shows in the buffet room or pool area were well done with the talented artistes working very hard. We particularly enjoyed the various excellent musical groups in the restaurants and buffet. Food: While the a la carte restaurants had nice ambiance and good service, the food was unexceptional. The buffet however was good with surprisingly tasty food served hot. The snack bar in the lobby only seemed to offer rather dry plain ham and cheese sandwiches. One of the outstanding areas was the (specialty) coffee bar which had excellent coffee and inviting surroundings. Overall: On re-reading this review, perhaps I've been over-critical as none of the criticisms really affected our very pleasant stay. Overall however: good location and grounds, very accessible beach, good food, good entertainment and mostly good service. I would certainly recommend it.

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful Resort

Lovely surroundings !! The ocean view was spectacular. The hospitality amazing! Shows at this resort amazing. Buffet had a wide assortment of food to chose from. The pool and hot tub could have been warmer.

Wonderful resort, people very friendly and they were very talented. Got to stay in an awesome suite, very clean and well taken care of. No complaints at all had a wonderful vacation. People were very friendly, weather was awesome, sunshine everyday.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great golf, great staff

We have just returned from our TENTH visit to Breezes Varadero. It is like homecoming at every visit. Extremely friendly staff. A wide variety of rooms, so choose the suites. Very good air-conditioning. Minibar with complimentary water and for the first time, initial complimentary beer(2) and soft drinks(4). Both 110V and 220 V outlets, so no problem with converter plugs. Maid service was very good. New entertainment program with several spectacular, colourful shows from 9-10pm. There is no doub [... read more]t that one must be cautious with the foods, but from our ten years of experience, we have found the breads to be unbelievably fresh (made on site), ice creams are creamy with just the right amount of sweetness, local batter-fried fish are excellent, and the hamburgers at the grille near the beach are wonderful. Pastas are always a safe bet, but the tomato sauce is bland and needs to be spiced up according to one's taste. The main reason for our returns is the excellent arrangement the resort has with the nearby golf club. Green fees, morning pick up and after golf drop off very near the gates of the hotel can be arranged. The trip to the clubhouse is only a few minutes and even with a generous tip to the shuttle driver from the golf course, transportation to and from Breezes is much cheaper than more distant hotels.

Breezes Bahamas: Great resort for a quick girls getaway!

This is a great resort for a quick getaway. It had amazing staff, great food, and a nice beach. It wasn't very crowded when we went and it was 6 girls sharing 2 rooms. The decor and room were slightly outdated but clean and comfortable. The best part of this resort was by far the staff. Always so pleasant and eager to help out any way they can, all the while not looking for a tip either! There aren't many all inclusive resorts in Nassau but this great value!

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: worth every penny

This is an older resort but don't let that bother you. It is in great shape, the food is great, service is good and the drinks and beach are wonderful. If there is any draw back at this resort it would be that there really is no large pool like you would find at other resorts. The resort does have a clothing optional section and beach but it is nothing to keep you away from this resort. If you are not into this then ask for a room at the other end of the resort and unless you go over there you w [... read more]ill not see anything you don't want to see. There is more on the beach at the resort next to Grand Lido but again don't look. The beach bar serves great drinks and wonderful tasting jerk chicken , jerk pork, jerk burgers, hot dogs etc. There is a cafe open 24hrs a day and they serve up great coffee and deserts to die for.
