Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Beautiful inviting resort

We found the staff to be very nice/friendly. Grounds were very well kept. Dining has a large selection of foods. Nice choice of restaurants on the resort. Facecloths and Kleenex should be added to the rooms.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We had a wonderful time!

Hotel & grounds were beautiful. We had upgraded our package for the plus section & loved the quiet time by the pool. It also allowed us to have five a la carts as well as a lobster supper - which was delicious! It was a mother/daughter get away - we did a day trip off resort. We couldn't wait to get back & lounge poolside. If you wanted a good spot on the beach with some shade you had to get there early - we chose pool most days. Weather was beautiful, staff was friendly. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Very nice resort.

The new part had beautiful rooms.You have to pick trails into the beach because of coral.Food was your typical cuban resort and the staff were very nice once you get to know them.All and all it was a good vacation and I will go back.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Hotel good, Ahola Sun sucks!!!!

Hotel was clean, staff friendly, food was good, we were there for a wedding but were bumped at the last minute, we stayed in a room for 2 days with my niece & nephew so we could be with our family and attend the wedding. Ahola Sun gave us the worst service ever, everyone blaming everyone else for the mix-up, no one willing to take responsibility !!!!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Good times!

we had an excellent time at the resort. the resort was huge and the front desk help us change our room to the kids area. make sure to stay in block 11 or 12 if you have kids! the resort had a lot of daily activities and had amazing nightly shows! the food was good, nothing special, but there was smething for everyone and they were always refilling the buffet! the grounds were kept very clean and the staff were very friendly!

Everything was great, it was just confusing at the beginning to find your room. The orientation and layout is a bit confusing, especially since no print out maps are available to you. This would be beneficial for others.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Would never go back!!

Just spent a week there with my 2 children, from June 20 to 27. The reception service was nothing spectacular and information given was not consistent. (When a la carte is open, buffet will be closed - no, says another and no reservations are required. Not true! We were turned away one evening and yet there were only 5 tables of guests!) The guest services people were seldom available. Because there were so few guests, the buffet was repetitive and I am sure leftovers were served all week! Note  [... read more]to chef: maybe cook the bacon in the morning, it barely looked like it had touched a grill! The al la carte restaurant, when open, was tasteless. The snack bar had fries, always, and at times sandwiches, hot dogs and pork hamburgers. The wooden paths were in disrepair (I fell through a plank of wood by the stairs of the beach bar). The rock paths and ceramic paths were in much need of tlc. The kids park is outdated and dangerously in need of repair. The turtle and fish ponds were so murky that there was only one day we could see them. The entertainment in the day was almost non existent. There was only entertainment for the kids on Thursday evening and lasted barely 30 minutes. The lobby bar staff was amazing, even to the kids, with the exception of Friday the 27th. It was a different bartender and the lobby was full due to the bad weather. Yoima, who works the kids club, was out sick until Thursday, so my kids were disappointed (they wanted to go back there just because of her). There was no apparent replacement. My son loved the rapport with both Aliosmy and Alexis at the buffet each morning. The beach could have been better cleaned every morning, but I imagine the hardworking guys on the beach do the best with what they have. To sum it up, food was horrible, even for Cuba, staff could use some people skills, drinks were good (how could they not be, Santero dark, yum...) don't go there for the entertainment. Next time I will go back to hotel Tryp. (Keep in mind, this was my 5th trip to Cuba in under 3 years, some with and some without my kids)

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: First Family Trip To Cuba

The Blau Costa Verde was nice(Huge). Our room was in a quiet location(back end nearest to the beach) away from the noise. We actually had our own balcony. Staff was great. Our room was cleaned daily and the ladies made great towel arrangements. We looked forward to the new one every day. The Resort was very clean. Staff was always eager to please. The food was not what we are used to, but we always found something to eat. We never went hungry. The omelette lady was excellent. And I really enjoyed the fried bananas(flambé). Their ice cream was also really good. The Cuban Restaurant was the better a-la-carte, in our opinion. We never went thirsty, thanks to our bartender(swim-up bar). He made excellent Pinna Coladas(our new favourite drink). The pool was nice. However, we spent our time at the beach. White sandy beach, very clean, no garbage(or dead fish). Beautiful turquoise water. Little bit rocky, but we just picked our way along, to get to the sandy part. Never had a problem getting a lounger or an umbrella. We just looked for an empty umbrella, stood under it, and flagged down one of the staff and they would drag 3 loungers over for us. We thoroughly enjoyed the SUNSHINE! We are all nicely tanned. We went on the Catamaran/Dolphin Swim Excursion. It was expensive but it was so worth it. It was an all day excursion. Met up with the Catamaran where they first took us out to a coral reef where we did an hour of snorkelling. Fantastic! Then we went to the Dolphin Marina where we did a 20 minute swim with the dolphins. Wow!! We gave the trainer our camera and he took tons of pictures. We were so thrilled, he got some great shots of us. Then we had a Lobster Lunch. Excellent!! Watched a Sea Lion Show, then we got back on the Catamaran for about another hour of cruising. Lots to Drink, lots to eat, lots of sun, great crew. I would highly recommend this excursion to everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. For our first trip to Cuba, we had an excellent time, and are already thinking of the next trip.

I enjoyed my stay so much that I will be returning. The staff are friendly and outgoing and very helpful. There was always a great selection at the buffet. The beach is fantastic and clean. There were no problems with the room and it was always well maintained. Would recommend this resort to others.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Don't expect too much during the summer

2nd time in Cayo Coco. We had a very nice 2nd floor room. Bottled water re-stocked everyday. Staff were pleasant but not very cheerful. The hotel was at 10% capacity. The beach club was closed everyday. Wood steps to the beach were in disrepair....exposed nail could have ruined someone's vacation. Sometimes Cuban families would show up to eat and grab as much as they could before being sent home...it seemed that because the hotel was almost empty and not much supervision was on sight the staff w [... read more]ould invite family & friends in for a treat. Sad sight really. We met a women who was just as disappointed as us as this was her 5th visit to the hotel. She swore it was much better the previous visits. No mangos, no seafood but as she said we still had a nice beach, clean rooms, ok food and the staff did their jobs. If you book anywhere, I recommend your travel agent provide info on how empty the hotel is before booking. For us, it felt like a ghost town and too bad as the resort is very quaint. If you want a more lively atmosphere, consider the Tryp but request a room far, far from the pool area and on the 2nd floor for more privacy. The best hotel by far is the Melia Cayo Coco but you will also pay considerably more.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: always a great time

i have been to this hotel 5 times. Once with my 75 year old mother and once with my 5 year old grandson. The children centre is great. Sunay is amazing with the children. I find the staff always smiling and in general willing to help make my vacation enjoyable. The gardeners would get fresh coconut for us daily, the entertainment staff make the activities fun and entertaining. Food is great for Cuba, remember not alot of spices and is buffet so can be limited to what you can put out, but always  [... read more]tasty. They have stations you can get fresh grilled food and at breakfeast omelets made to your request. We always stay in the old section, although dated it is closest to everything and the pool is best for younger children as not as deep. It is always clean. Watershoes for ocean is recommended. The coral at the beach does make it a little rocky, but allows for great snorkeling or just seeing the fish swim around (take some bananas from buffet)

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Beautiful Beach, Excellent Staff

Let's start by stating up front, we chose the Colonial because of the price. We were looking for an 'extra' vacation and had been to the resort next door so we knew the beach would be good and were prepared to have a little lower standard for the resort itself. It was a little dated, mostly clean and food was OK (it's Cuba, so we weren't expecting gourmet, so we were happy with what we got). The beach is beautiful, and since that's where we spent 75% of our time the vacation totally met our expectations, we'd have no trouble going back.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Good place with options.

We stayed in the old section of this resort in early January 2014. Our room was clean and functional and was close to everything. The service was excellent, staff were hardworking and helpful. The evening entertainment was enjoyable. Buffet had a wide variety of food with a good selection of cheeses, cold cuts, seafood and hot dishes. The beach is very nice with enough shade and sunbeds. Overall, we had a relaxing an enjoyable week in Blau Costa Verde.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Pleasant and relaxing

Very nice grounds. Plants, birds and ponds made great. Place is a bit old, but in a comfortable way. We purchased the VIP package. It was well worth the price if you take advantage of everthing. The lobster it provided at the seafood dinner was worth it alone. Like everywhere else in the Dom. Rep., it was the staff, the beach and the weather that really made it great.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Nice resort, awesome beach

Booked 2 Queen beds, got 1 Queen & 1 cot. Could have switched to what I booked after 2 days! Already settled in so my room mate opted to stay in same room on cot! Nice beach, too bad about booking with tripcentral and not getting room I booked. Shouldn't have to spend 1/2 of 1 week vacation trying to fix what should have been right in the first place!

Muthu Colonial Hotel: amazing resort!

It was a part filled place full of entertainment the staff is very nice and friendly. The rooms are clean. The food is not so great and the chairs are not oversized friendly. I am on the heavy side and the chairs gave my hips bruises.

Great food - you might have to search a bit to find the good stuff . Terrific variety of excellent pools . Personable service from all staff . You can walk for hours on the beach ... Grounds are well groomed and watered . Bar service prompt , friendly , and great choices .....

Resort was nice not amazing but nice . Beaches were beautiful. Rooms were clean. Staff were very nice. Food was typical Cuban food best meal was Nolitours Plus barbeque night. Mosquitoes are horrendous !!

Spent 1 week at the Blau Marina April 2013. Reception staff were extremely polite and helpful. The resort is huge and there are golf carts available to drive you around the grounds. The beaches were absolutely stunning and you can walk for miles on end. There was always lots of shade with umbrellas. The beach staff were so friendly, carrying your bags and helping you find the best chairs. Entertainment staff were fun, vibrant! I did not go to a la carte so cannot comment. Again, dining room staff amazing! So friendly and wiling to make your experience fantastic. I would say the only downside to this resort is that it is very outdated. I mean very. The rooms are old and not maintained very well. I didn't want to take my slippers off. I was not impressed. I have been to other resorts in Cuba with much more decent rooms. However, the beaches, food and level of service beats any other place I have been....Would I go back....not to this resort because I wasn't comfortable in the rooms. The showers were stained. Didn't know if it was mold? There were spots all over the walls..wasn't sure what they were but knew I didn't want to touch. It is unfortunate that such a decent resort with beautiful beaches, fantastic people and service have such poor accommodations.
