Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Really good resort

The hotel is great, laid out nicely, one piece building for the most of it, except VIP area. Excellent staff! Most importantly, beach in Holguín and in this resort is beautiful. Excellent for families and for young couples. Pools, all do we rarely use it, are really nice, placed at the good location. Food is fine. One thing I would like to strongly suggest and believe it is really important - beach: Even so they do have a person to collect "unwanted items" (garbage) and we see th [... read more]em doing so. They need a personal all day doing extra diligent work basically with passion to have clear beach. And it is needed especially Saturday and Saturday. Also, would like to add, even so the resort is new, we have been to this resort already twice. Would suggest to everyone. We lake to see different places but I am sure we will perhaps go there again in the future.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Club Amigo makes me happy …

I am a returning guest of club amigo for many years. This was Victor’s first time. I believe we both had a very good time. There were very few Canadians during our time there, and I’m not sure if the Cuban guests leave tips. Therefore the wait staff didn’t really go over and above. We stayed in a Villa and our maid was extremely happy and kind to have served us. Our room was clean and comfortable. There are definitely a lot of changes and things that are lacking. Something that I missed [... read more] personally was the potable water filter that was located in the garden in the lobby. As there was no water given daily in the rooms. You could buy bottled water in the store but they were small bottles and they were I think US$120 each. Other than that I don’t believe the water at the bar was bottled water as they were pouring it out of the tap or out of the soda gun. Not thrilled with the currency change to Cuban pesos but that is beyond our control. Along with the American dollar charge for everything you buy and have to pay by credit card and not buy Cuban pesos. This is very hard to comprehend. The buffet could use some work. Also, I’m not sure if there were any à la carts. They do host a returning guest luncheon however, it used to be a dinner, and that is more enjoyable definitely. The main pool was fun as always. Guardalavaca Beach is absolutely beautiful. There was always beer but I heard there was no wine. There were no soft drinks other than Fanta. It would’ve been nice to have a Sprite or Gingerale. The 24 hour bar didn’t offer much food. There were no buns for the hamburgers, and all that was offered were hamburger patties and plantain chips. Without toppings at all i.e. mustard or ketchup, tomato or onion. The entertainment crew really worked hard to make sure the guests were enjoying themselves. The Cuba day was fun and the food was good at lunch. We walked around the grounds as I wanted to show Victor how big the resort was. Very sad to see the gardens and grass unkept. We never made it over to the bungalow section. There’s many changes and I really hope they get their mojo back. The staff who were there remembered me and were kind and helpful at the front desk. I never go to Cuba with high expectations of the food at the resorts. However, being at Club Amigo gives you the opportunity to go off resort to the many quaint little restaurants in the area for a change. Can’t wait to see what changes are made the next time we return.

Grand Memories Holguin: Amazing resort

Spectacular beach. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. However as is the same at all these resorts it will be nice to have the servers speak some English; which is an universal language. It is hard to communicate with all staff. There was not much variety at meals. Pretty much the same food was served. Missed fruits like bananas papaya gauva etc. Additionally I am a vegetarian and there were some others who were vegetarians. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice resort

The resort was clean and nice but for me personally there were more negatives than positives. A lot of the food at the a La cartes were pretty much all the same not much variety. Not much variety in drinks, mainly just rum drinks. One of the days my maid didn’t even clean my room and for two days they didn’t put more beer in the fridge. Unfortunate to see that they didn’t have their buffet running but that was due to the low season. Playa Pesquero: Amazing as always

After three long years of not going back to Cuba, I finally decided to go back. At first, I was reluctant in returning since knowing how things are in Canada, employees don’t usually stay for a long time at the same place. To my pleasant surprise, 90% of the employees are the same as before. Not one day went by that I did not have people with beautiful smiles greeting me. The staff at Italian and Romantico are absolutely amazing and accommodating. Get ready to see me again in October! I was so pleased with my vacation that upon my return to Canada, I booked a package for my father for him to go experience his first vacation in Cuba at this hotel. Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Love this place!

I've been here before and will go again... The renovated Mare part of hotel (Luna part is under renovation) looks very nice. Everyday cleaning inside and out makes it look bright! Weather (middle June 2023) was wonderful! Three restaurants serve your needs all day! You always find something special for yourself. Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: We were not happy w/ the resort . Out of 40 times been in Cuba this one had been the the worst

We travel to Cuba for the ocean and the sun but this time the food was really ,really bad ,Aston is a 3 star resort only and not a 4.1/2. star. 1) not sufficient satff 2) room given WAS NOT a superior room., it was only a standard room. Room and arounds not very clean 3) luck of shows for children and adults 4)Transportation in the hotel was done with one car, most of the time out of service 5) many more issues , we over paid the vacation s b

Grand Memories Holguin: Another Sunwing disaster!!

it was new ,clean but staff were mostly just out of high school very poorly trained with little initiative,very little engish spoken ,so called butler service was little more than a customer service rep,adult side was very noisy at night and there were still many kids in rooms , beach was a 3 at best very windy in the afternoon, so called sanctuary pool was no sanctuary, ignorant people blast there own personal "ghetto blasters" all afternoon there is no peace,food buffet was small and other on [... read more]e was closed very little choice , this is a sunwing managed property and is run as poorly as their company is we were all stranded at the airport for our return trip, got home a day late never again will I use sunwing!!

Playa Pesquero: SECOND VISIT AFTER SEPT 2019.EXCELLENT BEACH NO WAVE SAND NO SEAWEEDS

AS MENTIONED ABOVE SECOND VISIT FOUND THE RESORT WAS WELL MAINTAINED ALTOUGH IT WAS HARDLY 25% FULL.SAME FRIENDLY STAFF BUT FOOD SHORTAGES .NO LOCALLY PRODUCED CORN,CASSAVA (YUCA)AND BANNANAS NOT EVEN A SINGLE ONE.NO BEEF UNTIL LAST 2 DAYS.RAN OUT OF EGGS LAST 2 DAYS.DRINKING WATER RATIONED TO ONE BIG BOTTLE A DAY THAN LUG IT AROUND FOR REFILL AT BAR.ON THE WHOLE WE HAD SAME VARIETY AT BUFFET.A LA CARTE ONLY ONE OPEN .MANAGED TO FEED OURSELVES.WENT TO RESORT MOSTLY FOR CALM WATERS.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Nice and clean resort

The hotel is very clean, very good entertainments and staff are very helpful and pleasant. The only thing we wish that there were more variety of vegetables. However, one thing we were concerned that there were so many flies in the buffet restaurant.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Amazing resort !!!

I rate this resort as the best in the area. What are you looking for your vacation while traveling from, for example, Canada to Cuba? Firsts and most of all it is the beach and the resort by that beach. This resort is fantastic and playa Esmeralda is one of the most beautiful places in Cuba for sure. The beach and all the surroundings are just pearl of fantastic, tranquil vacation place. This place went through some renovation, still going through some additional improvements and it is on the ramp up, no doubts. I strongly recommend this resort for a vacation.

Grand Memories Holguin: Wonderful Time in Cuba

The Staff at this resort are amazing, from the Managers Yosbel and Jorge as well as all the cleaning, wait, bar and maintenance are all fantastic people. We had such a good time with them all. The resort is a good distance from the airport but the ride was interesting and fun. Luis (the chef) made sure that the food here was always better that we expected, with good selections and tastes. The beach has beautiful white sand and the water is calm and shallow (perfect for wading in with a cool Mojito). All in all we had a wonderful time at this resort and would not hesitate recommending it or returning to it.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Great resort, Friendly staff

Everything was fine. Shortage of some foods, bananas, lettuce. Buffet clean, restos were great. We went to the Japanese, Indian and Elite. I got COVID on the return journey. Still recovering. We went on a trip to see the dolphins swimming. My card was refused. It was a pin issue that I sorted out on return. The trip was amazing and I would highly recommend! The animation team were great. Loved the roof top bar.

Don Lino Hotel: Keep it simple

If you like it simple the DL is the place.Helpful staff the food was good.the first time in 15 years that i could take a hot (not luke warm) anytime of the day. They even found me a horse to ride whenever it wasn t working.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

Fabulous 5 stars hotel , one hour by bus from the airport, very nice beach, Excellent food ,Staff were extremely friendly, we stayed the first week of June , all days were sunny. one restaurant 24 Hrs, Very expensive COHIBA cigar to smoke in the cigar bar.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Still fresh.

You get the bang for the buck! But I would suggest bringing white Wine, ketchup or bbq sauce. Other than that everything was awesome. Always plenty of beach chairs with umbrellas at the beach and beach beds at the pool.

The hotel is lovely as are the grounds. The hotel is new so it has nice, modern features. Everything is immaculately clean! Staff is friendly and service is great. The food, for a Cuban resort, is very good. The buffet had a nice selection of fresh vegetables for salads, not a huge selection of fruit but it was fresh and delicious. There are many comments made about the food being bland in Cuba but we did not find that to be the case here. The food is tasty and well seasoned. There were 5 I'm our group ranging in ages from 24 to 62 and we all had a wonderful time!

Grand Memories Holguin: Great resort, new, modern, luxurious

Beautiful rooms, excellent service, well kept grounds, premium beach, kind compassionate stuff, well served food with decent variety, definitely one of our best vacation spots. The only downside is the 1h44m ride from the airport, but it’s absolutely worth it as it does have the 5-star vacation feeling.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Great Resort

Our stay was exceptional. The resort was spotless and staff catered to our every request. The three Amigos....Juniors (butlers X 2 & bar tender) exceptional service. Food far exceeded what we expected for Cuba. My husband believes this is the first time he has been to Cuba where he might have gain weight. If I could of pack the butlers in my suitcase to come home, I would have. Well worth the upgrade to Coral level. Looking forward to a return visit. Pools very nice. Third beach nice [... read more] across the bridge. Call 555 and have your butler drive you over in electric golf carts as a bit of a walk otherwise. Resort about 1 hour from airport but went by fast as tour guide on bus very entertaining.

Don Lino Hotel: This Hotel should be advertised as for SMOKER ONLY.

You cannot expect a lot from a 2-star hotel. BUT I could not find even one spot where a nonsmoker can seat comfortably. People smoke in the lobby because there is no sign Do not smoke. People smoke in the bar because there is no sign that do not smoke. People even smoke 1 meter from the entrance to the restaurant. I suffer from a very bad allergy to cigarette smoke. At Brisas al Bars and Lobbies have a sign do not smoke. We leave in the xxI century when health is very important. However, the Management of Don Lino is a few centuries behind. I hope one day there is going to be one place at Don Lino for NON SMOKERS.
