Playabachata Hotel: You get what you pay for which isnt much

The grounds and beach were nice. However good luck finding a beach chair or getting towel after 10am. Room was a little rough, the a/c needed to be running 24/7 to keep the room cold but it was so loud. Bed was hard as a rock. The staff wasn’t very friendly. Check in and check out took 30+ minutes both times. Got tricked into a timeshare type presentation at their sister resort. Was asked if we wanted to have breakfast there and it turned into a 2 hour presentation. Food wasn’t very good, decent [... read more] selection but was just average and everything was pork. Only got reservations to go to the steak and Italian restaurant once and the portion sizes were small.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome Resort

This is our third time staying at Senator Resort and Spa, Puerto Plata in a year. The resort is very comfortable. We like the food, the beds, the pool area and the people. For the cost of this resort we feel it meets our needs and provides us with an awesome vacation. We really enjoy flying out of Hamilton airport with Air Transat.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Blue bay villas Dorada

Everything was fine for us and the only one thing i must say that we booked for a superior room which didn't live up to our expectation such as no dresser with draws that we can un pack and lack of chairs in the room. Everything else were good if not to say perfect.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Beautiful Resort!!!

We love love love this resort!!! Everything was fantastic… the food, the people, the grounds, the restaurants and our room. We have travelled a lot and this is by far our favourite place and we will be returning. Special shout out to Santo at the buffet restaurant for making us feel so welcome, Peter at the front desk was very excellent , Manuel, Pina Colada, and Pikachu were very nice and helpful as well. Sunscape Puerto Plata: loved this resort

This was the perfect size resort. beautiful long beach that was kept very clean, could walk for hours. Did not have to wear arm bands which was great and no reservations required for dinner. We never had to wait more than 20 min for a table.Food was good, there was always something for every taste. Staff are very friendly and efficient. rooms were a good size and cleaned well. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Good Resort

We stayed in this resort for 6 days. The resort was neat and clean. The staff were so polite and cooperative. There was a live music also on some days of the week. Beach was also so nice and there was a snack bar on the beach.

Playabachata Hotel: House fire Davidson, Saskatchewan

We were unable to go on our recent vacation .... we were to fly out of Toronto Pearson International on Monday, February 19/24 ... my oldest son and his partner flew in from Regina to join my husband, me and our youngest son on this holiday ... the weather man was calling for a storm in our area (Palmerston, Ontario) so we booked a hotel room in Toronto for Sunday, February 18 so we would not miss our flight .... we no sooner checked into our hotel in Toronto when our oldest son girl friend rece [... read more]ived a phone call from the RCMP in Davidson, Saskatchewan that her house was on fire and fire fighters were trying to get her parents and her three boys (the youngest boy being our one and only grandchild) ... we spent that Sunday night at Toronto Pearson Airport attaining a flight to get Pete and Krystine back to Regina .... there were no survivors from that fire in Davidson, Saskatchewan .... We lost our only grandson in this fire, however, Kristyne lost both of her parents and all three of her young boys ... we ended up spending the week that was supposed to be a fun filled family vacation to flying to Regina, Saskatchewan to attend funerals for all ... unfortunately ... we were trying to keep costs down and did not pay the extra $160/per person for cancelation insurance

Playabachata Hotel: Great Resort

The resort was nice, this was my third visit in two months to this place. The people are wonderful, food was really good, entertainment was ok but wish they would not share with the 'Senator and keep it at this resort every nite.

Playabachata Hotel: Nice resort

Enjoyed our stay. Food was good and a la carte restaurants were great, especially the BBQ ribs at the steak house. Beach was great but never enough chairs. I think this is consistent with most resorts though. Room was clean but dated. Bathroom ceiling needs repair. Took a bit to figure out hot water, but once we got it, shower was fine. Entertainment was good. Overall, resort was good value for the money.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Awesome trip

Highly recommend this place as food was awesome. Beach was great. Staff were great and very friendly. Bartenders were awesome with very little wait times for drinks. Entertainment staff worked very hard and kept the party going. Also I suggest go VIP as the perks were well worth it. The lounge is a great place to hang out after dinner before the show. Entertainment was very good especially with two nights of rain and they quickly pushed all outdoor festivities to the stage and kept in going. O [... read more]nly thing I would have changed was our room as we were close to the stage and music was quite loud. If you are not a night person get rooms further away. Place was also very clean with staff working non stop to do so.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Loved it

What a great resort. Close to the airport. Great food and drinks. Lots of options. STAFF ARE AWESOME ! Beach is really nice for the Dominican. Rooms are big and clean. Lots of activities durning the day. Over all we had a great time here.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Lovely vacation spot!

We finally had an opportunity to return to the VH Gran Ventana! We love the fact that this is a relatively small family run hotel. I was surprised to see the same friendly faces as I did from pre Covid times! That’s incredible! The staff, pool area, buffet area were well kept and appreciated! The 3 a-la-cartes were fabulous! The beach was very well kept and the ocean water was warm and inviting! The rooms were very clean, although basic. The bed was very comfortable. My main suggestion would b [... read more]e to update the rooms with a bit more decor/furniture. Although the bathrooms are functional, they desperately need an update. It would be lovely to have a common shower area for guests who travel to the airport for late flights. Overall, I love this resort and will definitely be returning! Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great holiday!

We just returned from the Viva Tangerine and absolutely loved it. We must have been in a renovated room, because I can’t even say the resort or our room was tired or dated. Alfredo checked us in, he was super friendly and helpful, which made checking in a breeze. The entertainment staff are there what seems like all day and night. They play a few games throughout the day, such as darts, dancing lessons and beach volleyball. In the evening, they put on a little show poolside, followed some  [... read more]nights by a full show in the theater. One night a week they do a silent dance party, which was an absolute blast. The food was quite good. A little disappointed in there being no bacon on the breakfast buffet the entire 10 days. The buffet is a little repetitive day to day, but overall, the food was delicious. We went to the Mexican twice, it was absolutely delicious! Try the Sopa Azteca…best tomato soup I’ve eaten in my life. We went to the Italian once, it was just ok. We did not try the Fusion. All the staff bust their butts to get the tables turned around…kudos to the Manager Ruth. The beach is big and beautiful. We had yellow flags 8 of the 10 days. The beach is ideal for kite surfers, and it’s fun to watch them. The other 2 days were red flags. The ocean is great for jumping the waves. If you want to sit and relax in water, you’ll have to use the pool. The pool could have been cleaner. The public washrooms were always clean and well stocked. We never had trouble getting a lounge chair at either the beach or pool. There are plenty of trees to offer shade. We didn’t have any issues with hot water in our rooms. We were in building 22. They only have one bar, but they have 5 or 6 bartenders on at a time…so we never waited more than 5 minutes at the bar. A couple of the days, they opened a small portable bar poolside. Our only comment is that Cabarete is quite far from all excursions. We spent 4 hours (each way!) to do the catamaran excursion, and 2.5 hours (each way) to do the buggy and monkey excursion. Also, they advertise as being 15-20 minutes from the airport, but it’s actually about 45 minutes. All in all, a great resort that we would definitely recommend.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Lousy job by the activity staff

Activity staff did a poor job of organizing beach activities like volleyball, bocce & horse shoes. Even though these activities were listed on the resort entertainment program list, the staff did not try to get hotel guests involved. The snack bar was ok, the a la carte restaurants pretty good while the buffet options not that great. Also lacking in fruit like pineapple, mango & watermelon.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing resort

This is our fourth time at this resort and we will definitely be back. The staff are very warm and always happy to help. Grounds are kept very clean. Food is ok but need more variety. Entertainment is lacking . Beach is beautiful.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Spotlessly clean and friendly resort!

The resort was exceptionally clean everywhere. Staff including the housekeepers, front desk , bar staff, animation staff etc. were sincerely friendly . Lots of activity all week at the.pool and beach. We found the food to be very good with enough variety . Lovely beach for walking. Great waves for playing in the water. We would definitely return to this resort when in Puerto Plata.

Hotel grounds & public areas are welcoming. Bathroom in main lobby is problematic as it seems to get clogged daily. Rooms are in serious need of renovations. For the most part, food was excellent at buffet & à la carte restaurants. Soups are delicious! Service at à la carte restaurants are either excruciating slow or super fast. Staff is very friendly & seem to really enjoy what they do. Lots of events at resort show their pride in their hotel. They also have a special supper for returning guests. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Liked it

Resort is clean comfortable it was our 3rd time there in a year we know all the staff they make us feel welcome and go the extra mile for us, there is always ways to improve but that goes for any resort. We will go back

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: A lovely compact resort

Hotel is nicely appointed with clean grounds and public areas. Rooms are very well maintained and housekeeping is excellent! Wifi is terrible and very unreliable but we managed. Food is great especially at a la carte restaurants A few extra chairs and seating areas for evening entertainment and relaxing would be nice as it was a scramble but I would still recommend

Playabachata Hotel: Good Resort

The resort was very clean and the food was good. The hotel staff were very friendly and the entertainment was great! Beaches were great. Resort included free paddle boarding and kayaking which was fun. The negative was the rooms were outdated . Little hot water in some of the rooms and one room had a water leak or two from the ceiling. Never enough beach chairs which is common to all resorts!
