Allegro Cozumel: Great resort

Recently we stayed at the Allegro Cozumel and thought it was a really nice resort. The food was good however more variety should be available at the buffet. We only had one bad incident there and that was a scorpion in our bathroom our second night there. We didn't see it until the early hours of the morning. My husband was able to kill it but I was a nervous wreck the rest of the trip. Our room was cleaned every day and an exceptional job was done. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Allegro Cozumel: Very good

We are 2 young 50+ adults and 2 athletic teens ages 16 and 13. We put our faith into travel agent who highly recommended this resort for the beach, safety, value, direct flights out of Toronto and activities to make our kids happy. Not without its hiccups, the positives truly outweighed the negatives. The kids could not get enough beach volleyball and it was fun watching guests of all ages play. A note of caution: If you have a tour representative, ensure you attend their introductory information session or you may end up stopping at the wrong desk and find yourself caught up in a high-pressured timeshare pitch. Those too-good-to-be true excursion discounts are exactly that. Still, overall a great trip.

Allegro Cozumel: Wonderful resort!

Amazing! Beautiful, clean, eco resort, rustic rooms in nature, amaxing staff! Loved the 3 pools for kids, relax and by the ocean. Beach was 5 stars! Went to swims with dolphins and took a gorgeous day at Chichen Itza pyramids.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Fabulous Resort

From the day of our check-in until the day we left the hotel staff were super friendly and ready and willing to accommodate any request. The Activities Team are so talented, not only did they run the games during the day, but they were also the main entertainers for the live shows at night which involved some pretty amazing skills, fire show, dancing, impersonators, etc. they also get to know the guests by mingling in the lobby before show time. It's not a huge resort so finding your way around is easily managed. We stayed in block 72 and the room was excellent. New mattresses and really comfy. The room was close to the pool and we never had an issue with the pool noise. They could install an extra hook in the bathroom for your towels, etc. The only one they had was next to the toilet which was not convenient. The size of the room was a little small. Lucky the TV stand is open so we were able to store our luggage under it. We enjoyed the pool with the swim up bar and the servers were excellent. You give them a recipe for a drink and they were more than pleased to accommodate you. We were disappointed with the steak at the Steakhouse. The steaks were so tough that we ended up leaving half of it on our plate and the ribs I ordered at the American restaurant in the disco was all fat, hardly any meat. The buffet restaurant for breakfast and dinner was good with a variety of food every day and some days they had a special theme day. We ate at the Le Ceiba almost every day for lunch and the food was delicious with a variety of salads, burgers, fries, pasta, fish, Italian, Mexican, etc. The beach was OK but if you wanted to walk into the water it was really rocky. One thing I missed was not having the free Wi-FI in our room or at least offer it free in the lobby so that I could keep in contact with home in case of any emergencies. I would recommend the Iberostar to anyone looking for a relaxing place to stay.

Fiesta Americana Cozumel: Perfect relaxing getaway

Rooms are huge. Shower is modern and spacious but will leak. Housekeeping leaves a towel to place in front of shower door. That was the only negative all week. Will be back next year for sure. Service is what makes this resort special.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: iberostar cozumel - place to stay

This resort is extremely well run. rooms do need some upkeep, (some have been done already however, the one we stayed in was still quite run down although clean and comfortable. Food - great, staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend this on to friends.

Occidental Cozumel: Fantastic resort for fun and relaxing.

This resort was super for relaxing at the quiet pool where they have cushions for the loungers and also show a movie each night or relaxing at the beautiful, deep beach where the water was clear and the bottom of the ocean was very sandy. There was also the main pool where one could participate in many activities, dance lessons, volleyball, aqua-fit, etc. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous, lush and well manicured. While the buffet did not have as a large of a selection as most, we found that the all groups were represented and was high-quality. Please note that the pizzeria / burrito restaurant is closed until further notice. The resort is easy to navigate with few stairs. I would recommend more benches along the pathways for the elderly or less mobile. I also feel that the guests could benefit from cushions on some of the beach or main pool loungers. My spouse is less mobile and finds the plain loungers uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of. Perhaps just a few chairs for those who have difficult getting down into and up out of the loungers might be helpful. We also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was mixed messages from the staff at the main desk when we were trying to arrange a later check-out. We were to leave the resort at 6:30pm but check out was at 12:00pm. There was not a hospitality suite where one could shower after check out so enjoying the beach or pool after check-out was not feasible for us. My wife enjoyed a massage, facial and reflexology (which she loved and now believes in whole-heartedly). However, the prices for massage and reflexology are very high at about $130 CDN (after exchange). The is about $40 more than we pay in Canada for RMT. The facial was even more expensive. I took a snorkelling excursion in the glass-bottom boat and saw an eel, sea-turtle, lobster, starfish and many varieties of fish over the coral reef. It was around $50 USD and worth it! Please use caution when discussing the time-share (which is touted as a Royal Club upgrade. We spoke to a couple that had become members. A free week is offered. This couple decided to become members and booked a 2 week stay. They were moved to a regular room and regular service after week one??? Overall, I would recommend this resort and would consider returning if the price and flight times are good.

Allegro Cozumel: Excellent for price

Resort is very clean! The resort is dated, needs upgrades. Rooms - , small room and bathroom also small but clean and no bugs! . Food - There is 3 restaurants (Mexican- ran out of guacamole! And you can hardly pick it up unless you are in the lobby! So walk across the street to Iguanaa's a great family owned restaurant and buy a drink and get free wifi. Literally across the street. We did this everyday and we really got great service and got to know the owners daughter -in law. Great lady and the guacamole there was the best ! What a difference from the hotel. $5USD a day and you got a drink and wifi! Beach - was beautiful, crystal clear water I was at the beach everyday and water was knee high for a while. unless it rained it was windy it dragged all the seaweed and muck in but that Mother Nature. Put your towel out in the morning before breakfast or you won't get a good spot. The travel rep- nice lady but she was not good at her job, we asked her about going to playa for the day and where to stay and how much and she didn't know much made one call and said she didn't know where. Playa de carman is worth the trip!!! Beach is packed but you'll find a spot, cheap massage on the beach! Downtown great shops from high end to cheap ones, friendly and safe. Night life- must get off the resort and go to señor frogs! Especially on Thursday (ladies night free cover and drinks!) the disco at resort was small and never had more than 10 people it. It's make your own party place. Cozumel - is beautiful!!! And I found it very safe! If you are looking for a good resort for the money this is it! If you are looking for all the extras no this is not a luxury resort. It's for on a budget people. Age ranged from families to 20-28. My girl friends and I are in our 40's and on a budget so this was a good get away trip!! I would go back if I wanted a cheap vacation that I could feel comfortable knowig it's safe, clean and worry free!!

Allegro Cozumel: Mixed Feelings for my stay at the Allegro

It has declined somewhat since the time we were there 5 years ago. Certain foods were not available or they constantly ran out of. ie Bacon, nacho chips etc. Cold food as no pasta station or hot entres some days - everything was under heat lamps. Way too crowded with Line-ups for food and drinks constantly. Had people log-in and staff filled out reviews in trip advisor. "all excellent" and then gave patrons free internent for the week Very deceiving.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Best vacation ever!

Scuba excursions from the dive shop at the resort were very well priced. The Resort beach was okay and has a slightly rocky entrance to water. Great snorkeling and lots of water activities right there. Excellent food, service and resort amenities. Reasonably quiet. Great place to just relax with a loved one.

Allegro Cozumel: Pleasantly surprised

My boyfriend and I stayed at Allegro Cozumel from Feb 20-Feb 27th and really enjoyed it. The rooms are small and basic. I read that people were having issues with the hot water. We had hot water everyday and water pressure was great in the shower. No complaints there. The rooms were very clean. The bed is hard so ask for a mattress topper. We were on the ground floor in the 60's building. The fan and AC helped to block out the noise. The pools were clean and quiet most of the week we were there. We enjoyed the "relax" pool. The beach was AMAZING. We snorkeled for an hour atleast everyday and saw some neat fish, sting rays etc. Allegro allows each person an hour free did snorkel gear a day. There is a restaurant called Albertos 15 min walk down the beach that has great food and Sol beer. The beer at Allegro was poor taste, we wished they had Sol or Corona but not. Also there is a restaurant across the street from Allegro called Senor Iguanas that has free wifi with purchase. They also have great food and great service. The food at the restaurant was not near as bad as people were reviewing. Breakfast was the best. We always found something to eat at lunch and supper even though it could get monotonous. The three ala cartes were ALL yummy! Fernando in the lobby is excellent to rent a car from. We rented a car for a day without hassle and drove the island, its a great way to explore at a decent cost. What else can I say, if you want a clean, quiet, friendly resort then this is the place. We would recommend it.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: nice resort

Great staff. Polite and hard working. Food is average. Pleasant surprise upgrade on arrival to preferred. Was an $800+/person upgrade as I looked into it before going. Would not have payed for it. Service at bars better at not preferred. A lot of overweight, baba jug carrying drunks. Maybe it`s the same every where with all inclusive? Facility well groomed, preferred room was large and comfortable except floors are slippery when wet and upstairs shower leaking into ours. Was reported when there  [... read more]but nothing done. Not sure what regular, pool view rooms are like. Marketed as quiet, romantic, couples type get away but more of a party atmosphere pool side when we were there. Have to stay on the beach. Beautiful sand beach but rocky on entry to the water. Didn`t take my tennis stuff and was disappointed, 1 hard court and 1 clay court and both lighted and not heavily booked.

WE TOOK OUR FOUR CHILDREN TO THIS RESORT THIS YEAR, AGES RAGING FROM 10 TO 21 YEARS OLD, WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME, THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND THE NIGHT "SHOW TIME" ENTERTAINMENT WAS THE BEST WE SEEN IN A LONG TIME(ROCK & ROLL SHOW WAS THE BEST), THE RESORT HAD PINK FLMINGOS, PARROTS, LARGE EGUANA'S, PEACKOCKS THAT FED FROM YOUR HANDS, AND WE ALSO SPOTTED TWO WILD PIGS ROAMING THE GROUNDS AT NIGHT?

We had a great time at this resort: the grounds are beautiful with a lot of vegetation and birds (peacocks, flamingos! and parrots), the food was very good with lots of variety and the service excellent. Most of the night time shows were fun (there were maybe two misses). The beach is very rocky but there is a long deck from which we could get into the water and meet the fish. Great selection of food and good variety at all meal times. Staff extremely friendly from housekeeping to front desk and restaurants. Love the wildlife - flamingoes, peacocks, parrots, cats, turtles, iguanas..... Relaxed setting with two storey units with wandering pathways.

Allegro Cozumel: great vacation!

Room we had was great! Was a double family suite (they messed up so we got upgraded to a time share room). Staff were friendly but you really had to ask for service as there werent.enough staff in my.opinion. food was not tasty.or warm and there was not a lot of variety. A la cartes were good. Long lines at the bars. Resort itself was small but nice and clean. Great kids water park and jungle gym. Great beAch!

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Pleasant resort, excellent staff

We stayed as a couple Feb 4, 2015 for 1 week. We were late arrivals with a small group, so check-in was quick. We were taken to an 8600 room, but it was somewhat musty and had double beds. I went back to the front desk with the Bell man. Within about 15 minutes we had a king bed, as ordered, in the 2400 building. Our 2nd floor King room was larger and recently renovated. TV was kinda skimpy on the English channels, but we managed. Internet was fairly speedy, although we only used it a couple of days. The beach was coral, as we knew beforehand, so snorkeling was the entertainment. the beach was nice, shade plentiful, and rarely had problems locating a chair. Gaspar at the beach bar is a machine. He takes orders 2 or 3 drinks ahead and never stops giving. With the smaller resort, there is very little waiting in line. Bars, restaurants, front desk, etc. all handle the volume well. The entire staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are well maintained. We ate in the steakhouse, and the Disco bar. The sirloin at the steakhouse was chewy, [was told after to order the tenderloin], and the steak in the disco was very good. Buffet food was fine, with a wide selection, but somewhat temperature challenged. We did the Polaris tour, the group was quite large, but it was fairly well organized. All in all a very nice hotel, and very pleased with our stay. slick

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Ok for the price

Need king beds , coffe maker , clock and fridge . Resort and staff great , clean ,friendly efficient staff . There was always a shortage of chairs around the pool and at the beach . And we were always bugged by time share reps...never again !

El Cozumeleno Beach: Home away from home

We are returning guests who first came to El Coz in 1996. We keep coming back because of the atmosphere which is welcoming and casual. The staff is always willing to help from the front desk down to the men raking the beach! As usual it was clean, the food was good and the piano player in the a la carte is not to be missed.(He was ancient 18 years ago) but still plays a mean Phantom.

Occidental Cozumel: Great resort to stay!

We travelled to many resorts over years Mexico(5 times)Dominican,cuba etc. This resort has best set up I have ever seen. It was recommended to us by agent Wendy Van Zandwyk(must say she was very professional and had all answers to our questions plus she stayed there before as well).You feel very safe staying at this resort. There is no outsiders allowed in on grounds. They have guard at front that shuttle has to check thru.They have safe in room. Rooms are super clean and good size. Bathroom too [... read more]. Seperate shower,tub,toilet... If you look at pics you will see they have pool,bars,pavillion etc all right at beach for daytime activities. The beach is great with sandbar.You always have a spot to find at pool or ocean in shade or sun no matter what time. No worries about getting up early to get towel on chairs to reserve..always plenty of chairs available.They also have towels right at pool as well. When ever you wanted drink or food the bars or buffett was right there. They also had bbq going for burgers and dogs thru day and desserts ice cream etc. all there at your fingertips. For sure the staff was great as well. They were polite, always wanting to service your needs. They had premium alcohol drinks as well. Pretty much everything winds down around 11pm...They have disco and pizza restaurant open later, but thats it. We like to enjoy all the daytime activities and relax all day. Go to around 11pm. then go crash in room and do it again tomorrow...lol. I would go back and stay here for sure. We did not do any snorkelling this time around. But is one of best spots to go.
