Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Loved our stay

I found this resort to be an easy one to get around and the set up was nicely done, Our purpose was to have a safe, relaxing stay and to enjoy good walks on the beach, ocean time, swim time and eat lots of veges and fruits. I travel with a walker and found it to be an easy resort to manouver. I was able to access the carts as needed however found that all areas were accessible to me with the exception of the inner pool area via land as there were stairs to climb and decend however the bar was ac [... read more]cessible via the pool so parking the walker near the lazy river and getting in a good walk in the water was attainable with ease. The main building housed the front lobby bar, the entertainment stage, a cafe with great freshly made espresso based coffees, teas, and a sweets, tea sandwich cooler, an ice cream parlour, and a Burger shop. It felt like we were going into little cafes, shops however this being all inclusive no money required just pop in sit back and enjoy the atmosphere.The dining area was similar in that is felt like little restaurants. We enjoyed the Spice as well as the Mecure. The morning breakfast was served at the buffet, a juice bar offered smoothies and blended juices from a good variety of fruits and veges, fresh espresso and regular coffee was available. The Barefoot Grill offered awesome roast chicken and at times fried chicken as well as hamburgers, salads, fruits, fries, chili, taco chips and cheese. Ernesto was our special connection at the beach grill he ensured we got beverages, always greeting us with a big smile and caring ways. This vacation was a much needed healing time and we were not disappointed. The staff were attentive, supportive special mention to Olivia Concierge, Lissa Front Lobby Ambassedor, Aris and Zorrilo Butlers who kept an eye out on us. The rooms offer comfy beds, cozy linens. The balcony spacious, bug free with a fun jaccuzi just need to ensure you fill it up past the jets. The grounds are well kept and nicely laid out. We needed to be able to relax and feel safe and we got that. We are already looking at how we can book another stay.

Excellence El Carmen: Its all in the name... Excellence (El Carmen)!

The Excellence El Carmen is a relatively new, adult only resort about 45 minutes from Punta Cana Int'l Airport. This was our 6th Excellence visit, but 1st to this property. The property is nicely laid out, with easy pathways in and out of the sunshine (helpful if it rains!). There are many pools to suit everyone's tastes, quiet, busy, mostly with nearby bars for beverages of choice to self pickup or wait-staff delivery. The rooms are very spacious, with King Beds (at least ours was), generous bath facilities including Jacuzzi tub, a spacious sitting area, a balcony/terrace with table, chairs and loungers. We were fortunate to be assigned a suite with a private pool, and small grassed area right outside our door. There are about 5 buildings with these suites on the ground floor levels. The Restaurants are numerous, with lots of variety, and we did not have enough time to sample them all. As we have found on our previous Excellence visits, the staff are outstanding, genuine, friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. Personally, I suffered a leg injury 2 weeks before departure, and my mobility for the trip down and back, and while on site was severely restricted. TripCentral Rep Jenn Black ensured that the resort and the Airline were able to accommodate my temporary mobility needs, and I am happy to report that these measures were well executed in all respects. We will be returning to Excellence properties in Punta Cana again, and will certainly be pleased to work with Jenn Black and the talented and dedicated TripCentral.ca team again.

Riu Republica: Fabulous honeymoon!

We chose this hotel for our honeymoon. We are a mature couple and weren't too sure about the adults only, but it was great! The pools are between the hotel and the beach and are laid out from party pool (with bar on the right), to a quiet pool on the left (with another swim up bar), and a medium action/noise pool in the middle. The steak house is good, first time not so great , second time amazing! The Italian was, ok but I honestly preferred the buffet. We didn't try the Japanese or the fine dining, But it was nice to have the option to just walk into any a la carte without needing a reservation. Our room was great very clean, modern and the bed was very comfortable. We were in the middle wing, ocean front, third floor. The view was amazing! The beach was unparalleled. The best sand ever, no rocks, no shells, although the water is sometimes too rough to be on the kayaks etc....the resort is on the Atlantic Ocean not on the Caribbean Sea, the water is very warm though. The beach is definitely the place to be for sunbathers and romantics. The new part of the hotel wasn't yet open but the whispers were saying by the end of November. It looks great! The best thing about this hotel is the staff. We didn't have the room we had expected when we arrived and I was quite upset. Victor at the front desk really went out of his way and made it right the next day. The servers are very friendly, happy people who seem to always be working hard. And AGAIN the entertainment staff are amazing...yes make sure you see the Tuesday night Michael Jackson show, and stay to the end, it's the best part! Special shout out to "sexy coffee" who runs all the entertainment at the quiet pool, he is hilarious and so charming! Can't wait to return!! Will definitely stay at Ruis in the future and will definitely be back here!

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Beautiful resort

Grand Bahia is a beautiful resort. The ground are immaculate, the rooms are very nice and the food was excellent. The staff were a great help when we needed the doctor and also with calling back to Canada to our insurance company. The beach was our favourite. Yes there was seaweed but they were raking constantly. Only issue we had was when we went down early to get 2 chairs we marked them with 2 old tee shirts. When we went back a hour later they were gone.

Riu Republica: Lots of room to grow

This new RIU is similar to the others in terms of quality of service and food. My gardenview room was really a view of a construction site. Regular jackhammering near the lobby was a turn off. The buffet was decent and the a la carte restaurants were hit and miss. The beach was beautiful - keep in mind that the water is rough. Our phone had to be repaired three times and our safe needed fixing. Lots of small ants in our hotel room. Free taxis to shopping was nice. Hotel employees were always kin [... read more]d and good natured despite the fact that they have limited knowledge of English. Obeide at the front desk was a delight. Overall the hotel is more of a four star. If you simply want to get away from your stress in life and enjoy a break this resort is good value for money - I paid about 1200.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Love it :)

First time in Dominican Republic, I could chose any resort and I always do my research, hearing that the Grand Bahia Principe was an excellent resort to be... it was true! Great choice for first timers, lots to see and lots to do! We’re going back next summer! See you soon! Thank you for the hospitality :)

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: GORGEOUS RESORT !

First time at Ambar Green ( 2nd Ambar building in the back), beautiful , clean, very well taken care of, fantastic swimming pools ( 3 of them). The food was delicious, every night a different theme, Halloween was so much fun, everybody was dressed up, really got into it ! Will be going back next year !!! Staff was extremely nice and friendly!

Riu Republica: Beautiful clean resort!

Large resort lots of room For everyone. Clean rooms and grounds. Beautiful beachfront and 3 large pools where one can choose the party crowd or the quiet crowd. No reservations required for the a la cartes was nice first come first serve. We were a group of 6 or 8 for most meals and never had to wait to be seated together

TRS Turquesa: Great Resort/Excellent Value!

We loved the Royal Suites. We were located directly across from the Pool Bar and a 2 minute walk to the beach. It was also a short walk to the Lobby Bar. Although we could have hopped on the train to go for lunch at the 2 restaurants reserved for the Royal guests, most times we did walk. The French restaurant was excellent and we enjoyed the small buffet of which you could also order off a small menu. We also took advantage of the large buffet down at the beach. That was very enjoyable [... read more] at lunch time. Rooms were very clean and very well furnished. The pillow menu was also a bonus. A huge bonus for me was that I only received 1 bug bite over the 7 days. We would definitely return.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Amazing

This resort gets better each time! The staff went above and beyond our expectations. The rooms are well appointed. The food was exceptional, we went to multiple a la cartes and each was very good. They were out raking every day, all day to keep the beach clean of the seaweed debris. We definitely would return for our 4th time!

Riu Republica: GREAT RESORT FOR THE PRICE

NICE RESORT, GREAT STAFF,GOOD SELECTION OF FOOD .SHOWS AT NIGHT TIME NEED SOME WORK.BAR TENDERS AND SERVING STAFF ARE GREAT.ROOMS WHERE VERY NICE AND CLEANED EVERY DAY.WE ONLY USED THE STEAKHOUSE ONCE IT WAS ALL RIGHT BUT BUFFET WAS BETTER.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Esmerela : I love it!

Spotless grounds, fabulous professional service even at the beach. Food at the buffet was good, but so much better in the al-a cart. Exception is Dominican restaurant outside :had mosquitos..food bland. Drinks all top quality. Taxi service promt. Rooms great but bed a bit hard and pillows were a 3 out of 10 Beach clean, activities good. Esmerelda is the best spot in the resort. Loved it. 3rd visit for us.

Hyatt Vivid Punta Cana: Great resort at dreams palm beach

The hotels were great but the beach was gross because of the seaweed but we survive anyway and had a greAtweek anywAy The food was amazing we ate a la carte every night .we like the Asian restaurant the best but the others were ok too

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Excellent Service... Excellent Property!

Everything was impressive. The service, the butler service, the concierge service. The only negative would be one that is an issue at many resorts... temperature food. Hot food is barely warm on many occasions and is a serious risk to cause sickness (I was sick from day 3 on). Even when arriving to buffet as soon as they open makes no difference... the food is not kept at proper temps. Aside from that, everything was perfect. Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Quite resort compare to barcelo Bavaro palace

I will try keep it short and simple, it is close to airport. barcelo bavaro beach is nice and quite resort for adults only but you can use bavaro palace resort too, so you get to use two resorts for one price, barcelo bavaro palace side is more happening place, it is huge, lots of restaurants and night life, casino, disco, spa, gym only in palace side but there is also a train shuttle every ten minutes. I enjoyed more in palace side, so next time I will book that.

Royalton Punta Cana Resort: Beautiful Resort! But aggressiveness of vendors was unwelcomed!

We upgraded to Diamond Club. I can't say that the room was much better than the Luxury Standard Room but the location and view was better. We didn't use the butler service because we were travelling with a group and it was much easier to plan and make our own reservations, etc. All the other services they offered could have been gotten by just calling the front desk. The others we tried were very good also but every time we planned on going to a specialty restaurant, it seemed to be closed for the night. Our bad because we didn't check the schedule and I guess there is a restaurant closed every night. We just always picked the wrong one. The reason I would not return to this resort is because of the vendors! We hadn't even been to our rooms on check-in, we still had our travelling clothes and carry on bags with us and we were approached by vendors giving us "free" gifts. They were very aggressive and practically physically brought us to their tables to have a look. After that initial encounter, we avoided the area entirely. I like to browse but in peace without someone trying to "force" a sale. I think the resort should regulate the vendors they choose to let on the premises. I would have bought more from them if I was just left alone to browse!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Food Poisoning

my husband and I became seriously ill with food poisoning during our stay in Luxury Bahia Principe Amber Blue resort, and it seems that we were not the only couple to get sick during the stay. its so unfortunate that a lot of people got sick because the resort that is supposed to be a 5 star luxury hotel served food which is NOT fit for human consumption and caused its clients pain and discomfort when they pay so much money on a 5 star hotel to relax and enjoy the weather and the facilities of t [... read more]he resort. for me I spent 5 days out of my 8 days vacation sick in the room

Grounds were kept very well,food was good to very good,staff was pleasant,location is perfect,drinks were watered down,room was very good and cleaned well,pools were very good,great variety for all ages.

The resort was great place will be returning next year hopefully. The staff at this hotel went out of their way to help you find your way around and make sure you were as comfortable as possible. The food was good had no problem finding something to eat. again a very relaxing resort.
