Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Best Bahia Resort I've visited

I've been to several Bahia resorts around the Carribean and this one was the best thus far. The food was great, the grounds were clean, the rooms were well kept and clean, and the service was top notch.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Excellence is EXCELLENT!

Our trip was amazing- very plush experience. Loved the location. The rooms were great, food was exceptional. We were entertained with great music and a "funny money" black jack night. Service and staff were great .....what else could you ask for? Would return to this resort hands down one of the best!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing!

The Sian Ka'an is a fantastic resort! Not a single complaint... staff are incredibly friendly and always available to help. The food is great... not only in the al-a-cart restaurants... but the buffet and snack bar as well! A great deal of variety on the buffet with plenty of options. Staying at the Sian Ka'an gives you access to all 4 of the resorts in this compound... you can book additional al-a-carts at the other resorts if that is your preference. They all look great, but the main bene [... read more]fit of the Sian Ka'an is that it is an adult only resort! There is a private area designated for Sian Ka'an guests at the beach, and chairs/umbrellas seemed plentiful. The trolley system is quick and reliable, and easily transports you between each resort, the beach or the casino/shopping centre. I would only point out 2 items that are not necessarily negative... just worth noting so you are aware: 1 - snorkeling along the entire beach is not great... the water is clear and you will see the occasional fish... but not much coral to speak of.... if you really want to see some of the great coral and sea life... you will need to take an excursion. 2 - the Sian Ka'an is located in the jungle... it is beautiful and the foliage is thick and lush... but it results in mostly shade... trying to find sunny spots around any of the 3 pools meant having to move your chair to other areas around the pool throughout the day. Overall still a fantastic resort and we are already planning a return visit next year!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Maya Suites: Awesome Resort

The resort in general is in immaculate condition, from the rooms, the always clean and manicured grounds and surroundings to the very entertaining shows and other resort services. The golf course is championship caliber. But most of all it is the service of the people that works on the frontline that made me fall in love with the place. They make you feel important and like royalty .

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: BB has exceeded my expectations

Having only 10 days of my vacation left after a very tumultuous November I wanted some piece of mind to relax alone on a decent and affordable Mayan Riviera resort. It was pretty much the last minute choice through my fave Tripcentral gate. The flight by Air Canada Rouge was smooth, transfer included and short, check in and bell service professional. The layout of the resort is hard to apprehend at first, depends which building you stay at and how late your flight was and how tiered you are. Adv [... read more]ice, just sit down and relax at Black&White bar, pick up your frequent train to the beach area to get acquainted to the resort and the next day you'll walk the rout in 5 min with close eyes. When they finish renovation of a small pull with a bar close to the buildings remote from the beach area (it's almost done) the resort will gain another half of the star. The beach is nice, the bay is a bit shallow, but I've seen much more shallow on PEI :) To cut it up, just wanted to say Thank You Very Much to Martin, who was taking care of my room service, Irma a concierge at Bonampak who has changed my a la Carte reservation in a flip like a magic to SeeFood and have always had a smile I won't forget, and of course Willy, in Di Rossi restaurant - try his grilled mid-rare salmon in cranberry souse prep in red wine. Delicious! Mexican a la carte was awesome too, I forgot the name of the guy, probably too many Don Julios :)... Don't miss Grand Parade on Thursdays, it's like Rio in Mexico! Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Loved everything

I did not expect this place to be as nice ad it is. Loved everything about it. Buildings design, rooms ,pools,the buffet, the food all awesome. Beach is great, people are friendly. Definitely would like to return.

Selection Riviera Cancun: Great Resort but beware of all the up selling

Loved the following - the staff and the service they provided - the resort is awesome, very well maintained, very clean, they do put a huge effort in making sure everything is perfect - the food is awesome everywhere. My favorite restaurant was Tapas - great beach Very disappointed with - the fact that a lot of activities are not included that I would expect for the price we paid. If we had paid $1000 ok then yes, maybe charge me for certain events but since this is not a cheap I expect [... read more]ed everything to be included. They had suppers on the beach (not the candlelight one, a group one were it was $150 american. Had a coffee shop where you had to pay for coffee and food on the resort. The house wine was very cheap and they kept giving us wine list to pay for a decent wine. Unfortunately even though it was a great resort because of all the nickle and diming I would not recommend it.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Great resort

A great resort in all areas! The food was great with lots of selection and lots of choices to eat. Very clean and well kept up resort. Rooms are spacious and maid service during the day and turn down service was impeccable. Lots of bars everywhere you walked with great selection of drinks. Bar tenders were great and most remembered what you drank and had it ready before you reached the bar. The only down side is the resort is trying to go smokeless and have limited areas to smoke but really only [... read more] enforced in lobby area. It was the talk of a lot of guest there and I do my research before I book a vacation and there was no mention of this including westjet vacations. If I’d known I would of booked another resort. Hallways are loud because of tile floors but this is common and if you are a light sleeper as i am bring ear plugs!!! Other then that a truly great resort. Will I return no but only because of there smoking policy

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Fantastic Vacation

We recently celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at the Now Jade and we had a fabulous time. The resort is beautiful, we had a junior suite overlooking the pool and beach, and the restaurants were great. Can’t say enough about the people looking after us, the service was incredible . Special shoutout to - Moises, the pool concierge, who made sure we had everything we needed at the pool. The poolside staff who catered to us every day, especially Ivan & José, who made sure we had refre [... read more]shments at all times. Ceci, pool entertainment, who stopped by to chat. Enrique at Castaways who took care of us at lunch and Leoncio & Armando at the Carnival restaurant who took care of us at breakfast. Francisco at the lobby bar. Abraham who came by every dinner to make sure everything was ok and Felix, the Manager. The highlights of our week included a romantic dinner in the garden with the 3 Tenors was fabulous, watching the Buffalo Bills game on the huge screen in the outdoor lobby, the haunted house for Halloween was incredible and our dinner in the VIP room at CinCin.

Grand Palladium Colonial: Beautiful Mayan

Nothing I am going to write will take away from the beauty of staying at Grand Palladium Colonial ! We booked well in advance to have a second floor room so as to leave our door open at night because we don't do well sleeping in air conditioning , but we were placed on the ground floor even though there were rooms available above us not in use . Our room assignment was made out without anyone looking at it and the person refused to make changes . This was reported to the manager who promised [... read more] to correct everything and look into the matter . Pedro , the front desk manager , offered to move us but four days in we opted to stay where we were rather than have the upheaval !! Our travel agent DID NOT inform us that Sunquest Vacations has no rep on site and therefore we had to make our own plans for excursions etc . I had to e-mail to Sunquest for our pickup times which we finally received only to have the bus run late and we barely made it to Cancun Airport by boarding time !! The beaches were great as always , the food very presentable , nice location on the Mayan Riviera . Not sure about our next vacation as the choices are numerous !! Trips like this are very expensive so please everyone make the traveller your top priority !!!

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great holiday!

I have been to playa del carmen numerous times and this was my first time at this resort. It was fantastic. Plenty of loungers by the beach and a great piano bar with a variety of different musical artists each night. Resort was clean and enjoyed the adult only pool in the el beso section.

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful Hotel

This hotel is so big and beautiful I was amazed! I would strongly recommend it to other travelers! The cleanliness and service of the staff was incredible and made our vacation effortless. Food and amenities were also enjoyable! I can't wait to go back again :) Two thumbs up and five stars in my books.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Nice place

The hotel is clean and well maintained, the beach is very nice. The room was spacious, but had an unpleasant smell, either caused by moisture or by chemicals used for cleaning or may be pest control. Buffet was great, but a la carte restaurants were a little bit below expectation in terms of food choice. Little Creperie and Sansai exceeded them, though.

Dreams Riviera Cancun: Not as great as Expected

Overall the food was good and plentiful. Some of the higher end items from 18 months ago were no longer offered—tomahawk steak and Greygoose as examples. The pool areas are small overall and the infinity pool was partiallly blocked off for renovations which included the swim up bar, one of the restaurants and a set of washrooms that made it very inconvenient. The rooms have an open concept washroom which is not ideal when sharing with older children. Zero privacy. Also beds were doubles and [... read more] not queens which makes sleeping a challenge. The grounds were well kept but it is a smaller resort so in general too confining for us. Overall the staff was great so no complaints there. A lot of better resorts to go to for the money. Will definitely not be back.

El Dorado Royale: Five Star all the way

I was blown away at the quality of the made to order gourmet food. The Canadian Beef Culinary food was bare none the best we have ever experienced at a resort. The staff were friendly and attentive. Loved that the resort has their own greenhouses. Rooms were lovely and we were surprised for our 30th Anniversary with Champagne, a sign on our door and roses petals on our bed. Our only disappointment is that the ocean was not swimmable. We do understand the why behind it and know in a few years [... read more] this hopefully won't be an issue. We will definitely be going back!!

Selection Riviera Cancun: Beautiful resort

Super layout - you never got lost. Our room was great with very good service and a beautiful view from our balcony. The resort itself was very well design and very clean. There was always chairs available around the swimming pools. Lots of activities around the pools. The restaurants and the food was fabulous - no reservation made it nice.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

This resort is beautiful, the room was very clean and the staff was beyond amazing!!!! I loved the fact that there was so much to do on the beach for activities! Highly recommend this place!! We can't wait to visit again !

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Top notch resort for a solo getaway ***with a caveat - see below

Beautiful resort, amazing service, great food, yummy drinks. The only issue I had was the noise level and not having a clear understanding of the different types of resort rooms and areas. So let me help you out... Excelerate Area - this is considered the party zone. I knew this ahead of time and made sure I didn't book in this area. Allure - I booked my room in the Allure zone thinking I would be no where near excelerate. Once I got to the resort, I realized that one side of allure ma [... read more]kes up the U shape of the excelerate area. My beautiful, corner ocean front suite was right above the DJ booth. After talking to the Front Desk, I decided to move rooms (sad to lose my corner suite but more than happy to have some peace and not hear the Techno beat that starts at 9 am). Xhale - This area is considered the quiet zone (and it is quiet) but comes at a premium cost. I could have switched over to this area for an additional $150 USD/night. I travelled on my own and felt safe in the resort and beach areas. Security is posted at either end of the beach to monitor activities and resort guests (no bracelets, so nice). I met a lot of wonderful people from all over – mostly Canadians, Americans and some Europeans. Due to north winds and the lagoons nearby, the ocean was not the usual turquoise that the Mayan Riveria is known for, it was dark and wavy. Not sure how long this will persist but it was about the same for the 7 days of my stay (Nov 11-18)

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not a 5 star resort

**Our entire party of 7 has been sick since returning. One of us ended up in urgent care and was diagnosed with Giardiasis which is a one cell parasite from contaminated food. Two weeks of being violently ill and time off work and now on antibiotics. ** returned Nov.13th from a week long vacation. Rooms were run down and needed repairs, our phones didn’t work. One room had a ceiling that caved from water and they had a small flood in the room. They accidentally deactivated our keys early an [... read more]d after a day at the pool with small children and a journey to our room we couldn’t get in. Royal golden only gets you bath robes and a free safe. Our villa was far from everything. We asked to move and were told they were full. Tipped cleaning and fridge refill everyday and had to call and ask for more water all the time. We saw housekeeping washing the glasses in the room with a cloth and tap water. We never received new cups. We booked this resort for the family atmosphere, kids splash park and kids club. The splash park was closed during our stay and when I took my son to the kids club one day I was told it wasn’t available to us as we weren’t privelage guests. A a lot of rowdy drunk guests during our stay. Someone was trying to get in my room at 11pm. There was one big fight in the pool and security and police had to be called.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent vacation

Both of our rooms were very nice with a great ocean view. The Gourmet a la carte restaurants were excellent and the Japanese show cooking and Brazillian restaurant very good. The beach was good and pools were great . All staff friendly and helpful. Overall, excellent value for the money.
