Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Appartement Review!!!

I was in the appartements and found it very well. The rooms were very clean, the staff was excellent.The service in cuba is everywhere very relaxed!!!! The entertainement was awesome.....very nice place and has everything you need to shop if you wish not to go out of the complex. What I would recommend though would be something to wash the dishes with, and another pot to cook with!!! The phone service is horrible though...you cannot get any calls comming in, but can call out!!!

Hotel Villa Cuba: To "Be Lieve" or to "Be Alive"

Turns out it's neither. Cuba has chosen to Be Live as anything else would simply be fake. This is a simple yet huge resort. The hotel rooms are a lot nicer than the villas so Be Smart when booking. You will get variety with food but Be Aware it only applies to the location of the food. Be Generous with the staff and you will get more bang for your buck. Be tactful when walking over to the beach mini mines are abound. Be thoughtful and don't feed the cats. Be patient as things run on Cuba ti [... read more]me. Be amazed at the fun you will have.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: A bit rough around the edges, but overall it was clean and safe.

Service was hit and miss, the food was pretty good, but warm at best. The nightly entertainment was great, especially the dancers. The beach was beyond beautiful. For the price, this is not a bad resort, but keep in mind it is a 2.5 star. We had a blast and just laughed off the little things like only one elevator worked, there are a few tiles missing in the pool, and it was hard to get to the tiki hut at the correct time to get a burger or hotdog.

Starfish Jibacoa: a very good place to stay

The grounds were amazing. Lots of open places.....(no high rise that meant a lot to us) It was like living in a park. The snorkeling was fabulous. Cuban people .........were absolutely wonderful......but that is not news anyone who goes there will say that. The food..........well lets not discuss that...also just listen to anyone who has gone to Cuba. The price? You cannot do better anywhere!!! Security? I did pay for a safe...and it gave me security, but the country is the safest in th [... read more]e world!! So next time I will not bother with a safe. Will I return to this resort? Yes. Memories Jibacoa: Another Great Stay!

We have been back to Memories Jibicoa five times and are very pleased with the service, cleanliness and accommodation. The recent upgrades to the beach area with the addition of shade and the newer beach lounges were very welcome. We did notice that the beach area was not kept as clean as previous years in that the washed up vegetation and bits of garbage were left several days before removal. Upon arrival to the resort I missed a step leading down into the beach bar and the server was quic [... read more]k to get me ice and check on my wellbeing as were the staff at the buffet that day and the entire week of my stay. I had ño problem getting ice from the beach bar whenever it was needed for the swelling in my knee. Very caring people working at the hotel.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Perfect Getaway!

The hotel was more like a resort than a Hotel. the rooms were spacious and well appointed. The ground were park like, easy to get around and spacious so you never felt crowded. Beach area was larger than most we walked past and even though the resort was 90% full there was lots of beach chairs and shade. Will be returning!

Palma Real: Did not meet expectations

Going to Cuba we knew we couldn't expect the same standards as the all inclusive hotels in Mexico. This review is after taking that fact in to consideration. Pros: The location of the hotel is excellent. Even though it was not beach-front, it was a block from the most amazing beach and a few minutes from the Beatles Bar, Calle 62 Club, restaurants and craft shops. There was a wide selection of fresh food, basic preparations but that was expected of Cuba. A few of the restaurant staff were ve [... read more]ry friendly and helpful, even before tipping. The in-house entertainment was very good for a few days only then it was audience participation. The pools and the pool-side entertainment was quite good. In our building rooms were mopped and cleaned every day. Cons: The staff at the reception were not very friendly. They took for ever to book us in on arrival. They did no advise us what the meal times were until we asked. The dinner buffet closed at 9.30pm. We finished checking in around 9.05pm and went directly to dinner at 9.10pm. The restaurant staff was very rude and didn't want to seat us as they wanted to close up. The snack bar had only a couple of choices. The room was very basic. The lights were so dim that our room was very gloomy. The hair dryer was broken in our room. Our room door couldn't be locked and that night we had to sleep without locking our door. The next day we were able to get someone to fix it after some hassle. Even after tipping the housekeeping on the first day and reminding her to leave our complementary bottle of water, until we complained to the reception a few times, the water was not supplied. Towels were clean but had stains. As the hall ways are tiled, every time someone checks in or out, the wheels of the baggage being dragged on the tile floor makes a huge noise that it wakes you up. We had requested a pool-side rooms, which we didn't get. Subsequently we checked if we could have one and the reception asked us to first go check out a couple of rooms before moving.They were even worse than what we had, so we stayed put. Shall not go there again.

Club Kawama: Club Kawama

Fantastic pool, accommodations poor ( room had an unpleasant smell, and shabby), food was iffy (actually was sick to stomach on airplane during trip home) (pasta at every meal, food if heated was barely warm, and by the time you got back to the table, it was cold). Staff very friendly, and to tell the truth, the only thing I am missing is the pool. Would not recommend Club Kawama to anyone!!!!

Starfish Varadero: Simply a fantastic fun Resort!!

when we arrived and went into the resort at nite singers were in the front door to greet us,we were takin to our room witch was nice and then went to see this huge paradise. lots of bars ,restuarants and grills ,live entertainment at all bars,lots of pools and the beach with bar and grill awsome and turquiose waters ,white sand! some renovations were in one wing of the resort where some vacationers were put in rooms when they complained they were upgraded fast .this resort is big and is all you [... read more] need ,so much goes on here you wont be disappointed we give it a 4.5 star the staff are so freindly we are going back to this resort next year !

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Great time in Varadero!

Nice resort! We had a beautiful beach view in the beach club area. Long walk to get to the buffet etc, but that was okay with us. Mojito bar just behind us was great for an afternoon break! The al la carte system is not great at all - I think due to lack of staffing. You had to book at 9am for that night, so if you wanted to go 3 times as was offered, you would have to be there first thing in the morning to book. Buffet was good though - with lots of choice. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice resort

Everything was fine. Maintenance service was poorest. I went three times downstairs with a request ti fix balcony door latch, no one showed up even the next day. The serving staff in dining was never serving with a smile and sometimes it was obvious that they were ignoring you. The hotel with 814 rooms has only maximum two persons at the bar area and you have to wait quite a bit to be served. Further the bar closes at 1 am. The entertainment crew was amazing

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Amazing resort

This was our 3rd time at the Paradisus Princesa Del Mar, every stay has been amazing. The beach is beautiful, grounds & rooms are very well maintained. The service was excellent from Betty & ladies at the pool to the front lobby bar ladies, Sumi was a sweetheart (not sure if I spelled her name right) & the restaurants. they went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. One example was the buffet had not orange juice one morning, our waitress went out of her way to go find some so that we h [... read more]ad OJ with our breakfast. We have met some amazing people who work at this resort and from year to year they always remember us. Already looking forward to next year, won't hesitate to recommend this resort to anyone.

Roc Barlovento: Our Favourite Resort

Have been to Cuba over 30 times and have stayed at Roc Barlovento many times We find this hotel very clean, great staff and the better meals of many I have stayed in over the years in Varadaro. Fruit selection; coconut ice cream; baked goods and breads .Made amazing sub sandwiches for lunch with their tasty cheeses and cold cut selections. Have stayed at the 5 star newer resorts at the end of Varadaro but prefer the closeness of the beach.flea markets; restaurants; fishing etc. with this re [... read more]sort being only .three levels high.- no elevators or far walking. .Love the daily barbecue close to the beach if you simply want to put your cover-up on and remain outside under a great large hut. -next to the beach. We especially like the location. My husband loves to fish so he brings his retractable rod and simply walks across the road every morning to fish with the locals. The locals are very accommodating with giving /selling you shrimp for one peso as bait. If you would like a change and night out simply walk the next block to the right to Kiki's for great pizza. or the left across the road for lobster. One of the pools is being renovated and I am hoping that they consider putting steps in this pool - as this is an adult only resort. Many guests are older and I noticed a few struggling to get up the ladders in the larger pool. Many updated rooms with flat screen TV's. Our room was close to the lobby. .second level ..overlooking the pool. We did not mind...but the rooms around the pool can be quite noisy up until 11:00 with the entertainment close by. Entertainment was the best I have seen. I am also hoping that they re-open the coffee bar adjacent to the bar in the lobby...may have been closed due to the season as this takes the wait time off of the bartenders trying to serve drinks only Public Relations - Katia was amazing. A very sincere caring lady.. always wanting to make your experience great. Always seem to return to Barlovento due to all the above positives of this resort. My favourite resort in Varadaro at this time....

Be Live Turquesa: Great resort, just the right size

Nothing fancy but the staff are the best. Food is good and the resort is starting to be fixed up. Great place to relax for a week. A smaller resort has the family feel to it. Best beach in the Caribbean.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: A great place to stay. First class.

The place looks, feels great., The cleanliness is exceptional and people are cleaning constantly. The staff at the front desk are thorough and helpful, as are the bartenders and waiters and waitresses. Smiles are everywhere. The food was good - could be better and hotter when you return to your table - but for Cuba I rate it a B. Lots of pork, very little beef. We were pleasantly surprised at the elegance of the hotel. We were pleased with the arrangement with AC vacations to deliver us to and from our location included in the cost.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Grand Caribe Sun Beach

The front desk were not friendly The coffee machines were broke most of the time never had any hot water.the pool was nice,to many locals hanging around,no bottle water in my room had to go to the bar and they only gave tap water.they were 2 prostitution lady's going around the pool area giving there room number.

Playa Vista Azul: A good experience for first time to Cuba

Rooms were new and very clean. My room faced a new hotel that was being built so heard construction very early in the am but not hotels fault. Lobby and infinity pool were beautiful! Only 1 buffet so it was at times crowded. Food was better than I was lead to believe for Cuba. It would have been nice if the a la cartes had taken reservations. Playa Vista Azul: Great new hotel with typical Cuban problems

Pros: Lovely big rooms. We were in building two. Beaches were incredible. Most staff super friendly. Food the best we have had in Cuba, especially freshly cooked fish. Room staff were kind and kept our rooms super clean. Hop on bus made it easy to explore area. Rent a scooter right at the hotel. Cons Pools cold (not heated) Showers hot or cold, not much in between. Lobby bathroom dirty. Food at buffet not often hot. Go for the fresh cooked stations. Serving staff in buffet inexp [... read more]erienced and wine often watered down. Hard to remember what bars/restaurants were open when. Wished there was one 24 hours. Cuba isn't cheap anymore. Got 0.68 CUC per CAD What to bring: Facecloths Kleenex A roll of TP (we ran out) Soap and shampoo. Insulated mug for beach and pool area to keep drinks cold Would we come back to Ocean Vista Azul: YES! If the price is right may upgrade to Privilege room. At our departure it was $500 more per person so not worth it for us.

Roc Barlovento: Pleasant Small Resort

Staff at the ROC Barlovento were very hard working, and very helpful and pleasant. The bedrooms and the Public areas, indoors and outside were kept clean, and the staff seemed content in their jobs, and the Resort running relatively well. My only problem was the noise level from the Pool/Entertainment area, but the Sunwing Rep helped me change my room to one that was very quiet and pleasant overlooking the Tennis Court.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great bang for your buck

Although Bella Costa is in need of TLC our room was kept clean and well stocked. The staff is helpful and very friendly. Jimmy's restaurant offers such a variety of food that it should satisfy even fussier eaters. The beach is also beautiful, and a great place for smaller kids to build their sand castle. Alicia's little restaurant catered to the pizza lover. Hamburgers, hot dogs and fries also served during the entire afternoon and after 10pm to 6am There could be more garbage cans.
