Gran Muthu Imperial: Beautiful Resort - 2 weeks of relaxation

If you have been to Varadero then Cayo Coco is a different experience. It is a very beautiful and peaceful place with long white sand beaches and very little traffic. The Imperial had one of the best lobbies that we have seen and I think that was because of the different seating areas (and the large no smoking area). The cleaning staff worked non stop to keep everything beautiful. All of the staff were fantastic throughout the complex. We did, however, spend a lot of quality time in the Spo [... read more]rts bar as there was a married couple that made the most amazing drinks and made everyone feel so at home. The rooms are very nicely appointed and the beds are wonderful. We had ocean view and while we were not looking straight at the ocean it was very nice from the balcony. Reminder to Canadians to bring a power converter and not an adapter as it is 220v. At least the TVs have a USB so we could power our things with that. WiFi is cheap and worked almost everywhere at the resort. Note: bring your own face cloth... as they do not provide any. The food was wonderful. Travellers need to remember that "you are not at home"... things will taste different. Cuba does not have access to the same products as Mexico or the Dominican does. So go with it! Also you are on vacation, try something different, you may like it. They had 3 a la cart restaurants which were all fun and enjoyable. The best kept secret was a 2nd lunch buffet close to the beach. The snack bar was also always there for something different. I will finish off my food review with the bread. I do not know if they were cooking it in house but it was fantastic. Loaf after loaf of the most beautiful and fresh bread that you will ever find. Between the 2 Muthu resorts they have built a nice market that has all of the souvenir shopping required.(They sell the same things everywhere) It also had a spa, (which was lovely), bowling, and a restaurant. So there were a few things that I don't want to be too negative about but they are worth mentioning. The beach, while beautiful you really needed swim shoes unless the water was calm. There is a lot of coral in the water closest to the hotel. If you went further down it got better but you still needed to watch your toes. Some signs warning swimmers of this would have been nice. We are not pool people so we spent a lot of time at the beach. On the calm days we were able to snorkel in front of the hotel and saw amazing coral and fish. In the 2 weeks we also visited Pilar beach 3 times which was amazing. The lobster lunch for 2 was amazing at their little restaurant. All resorts, everywhere, need to come up with a better way to reserve pool and beach chairs. Putting a towel on a chair and then not using it until 2pm is not acceptable. Please, please, someone, come up with a system that gives everyone a chance for a seat. If you are going to use the chair right after breakfast then great, put a towel on it. Overall we had a wonderful time. Thanks to Wendy at Tripcentral for the recommendation and the coordination.

Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: Excellent Resort

The hotel is modern and clean. The grounds were well kept with colourful flowers, shrubs and trees. The pool area had plenty of loungers and umbrellas. The rooms were spacious and fitted with modern fixtures. There are two beaches. One beach is very big and great for swimming. The second beach is smaller and tranquil. Both have plenty of palapa's and both are great for snorkelling. The food was good with only the odd shortage of certain items. There was always a wide variety. The st [... read more]aff were excellent. They were always pleasant and eager to assist. Entertainment consisted of some musical acts in the lobby bar. Nothing extravagant but the hotel appears to be meant for quiet relaxation. The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the mainland and about 1 1/2 hours from the airport. Overall a great resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Nice Resort

The hotel is nice and the staff very friendly but the the restaurant buffets and ala carte is bad totally unorganized they always out of bread first we booked for two restaurants and both evenings out of shrimp

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Great spot

This is a very pretty resort, with a great beach and swimming pool, as well as gorgeous trees and nice landscaping. The food was better than I've had in other Cuban resorts - lots of choice, nice fresh veggies and tasty hot dishes. The service was very good - all staff friendly and helpful. I loved the outdoor entertainment in the Courtyard area in the evenings and went to a couple of shows in the "club". My only complaint is that I did not have hot water for a shower the whole time I was  [... read more]there. I did report the problem a few times, and there was some effort to correct it. However, it turned out a water pipe problem close to my room was the culprit. They were working on fixing this during the week.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Best resort in Cayo Coco

What a fabulous resort, All the staff are friendly, not one sand flea bite. Went March 4 for one week. Resort was fully booked, pool was packed, I recommend you get up early and reserve a chair, not with their beach towel (someone could walk away with it, and a 25.00 charge for not returning the towel) but use an old shirt and a book. Specialty restaurants were great, lots of food, and wine. Cuba has now changed their currency, any old bills and coins you have will no longer be accepted. Do not take US dollars with you, or Canadian coins they have a hard time cashing them in. This was my second time there and will be back. What gifts to buy, I take toothpaste, wrapped candy I stocked piled candy canes when they were on sale after Christmas, sewing supplies, M&M's chocolate it does not melt in the heat, work gloves for the gardeners,T towels with a design, small stuffed animals from the dollar store, crayons and colouring books, shaving cream and razors, pencils and erasers. Playa Pesquero: Friendly, well run resort

There are a lot of good things to say about this hotel. It is attractive and very clean. Rooms and all areas were immaculate. We were also impressed by how well it was run. There was never a line up. Staff are always polite, helpful and friendly. Service was excellent. The pool is amazing, large and meandering. The beach is not large and is rocky in places. If you like a wide, long beach, this is not the place. Lots of chairs at the beach and around the pool. The food is average. The [... read more]re are several different places to eat and four a la carte restaurants are available with reservations. There are several 24 hour options available including a coffee bar and alcohol bar in the lobby area. Lots of alcohol variety. There is a bus into the market at Guardaleva for 5 pesos. The market is not really worth the visit. The public beach there is worth visiting. We met several people who return to this resort over and over. This is a large resort so possible long walks from your room to amenities. We got used to this. This resort is recommended.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Beach & Weather

This was our 3rd stay at the MMV since 2017. We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite in the Condominium buildings overlooking the marina which was absolutely beautiful. Everything worked in our room except the patio door lock which wasn't an issue as we weren't on the ground floor. We had refills on water and beer daily. No issues with unwanted bugs! We stayed in Condo building 4 which is the furthest away from the hotel and beach. When we didn't feel like walking, we simply called for a golf ca [... read more]rt to pick us up. The lounge chairs at the beach were the white plastics ones. Most of the loungers were cracked down the middle. If your back gets tender sitting on a hard surface, bring a blow up cushion. It wasn't an issue to get a palapa (thatched roof for shade) early in the morning. The beach bartenders were quick and friendly. No beach service this year (cut backs?). The beach restaurant is open from 12:30 to 4:00. They changed from being able to order from a menu to a buffet style of veggies and a meat grill. The main hotel pool is plenty big with lots of shade. Bartenders were excellent at the pool bar. The service at the snack bar was very slow and the options for food was measly. We only went there once for lunch. Buffet food was repetitive but that's the norm at every resort. The food quality improved at the a la carte restaurants which was the only place to get served red wine in your all inclusive package. Yes, that right! The resort no longer serves red wine at the buffet or the lobby bar...lots of white wine though. You can only get red wine in an a la carte or if you want to pay for it in the new Tapas lounge. We typically book Melia resorts which in our opinion have really scaled down on the nice things. Because of the cut backs, we'll be booking other branded resorts in the future. Our agent, Carol Webber, took good care of us as usual. Thanks Carol.

Paradisus Los Cayos: Clean, friendly resort

The resort is very clean and the rooms well laid out. Was very quiet during our visit as a couple of the wings were not being used. Staff are friendly. The beach is beautiful. Very nice pool area too with a swim up bar. Alejandro and Mikey are fantastic dancers and kept us well entertained. Food is ok but not 5 star.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Beautiful people :)

The resort we stayed at had some amazing staff. The hotel grounds were well taken care of very well kept. The rooms could use a little TLC but overall I had an amazing time of sun amazing beaches and met a lot of nice people from all over the world. Thank you :)

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Not what expected

The grounds kept well. The hotel is run down. The food was horrible in the main dining area and the smell in there was so bad. The Italian restaurant was pleasant. Most staff were friendly. The disco was fun but should be included. The pool is in poor condition but swimable. The beach was great.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful beach resort

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort is a three and a half star at most. It has the potential for a five star rating with a little work. The septic system is from the stone age and causes many problems in the bathrooms with toilets backing up and terrible smells at times. The staff at the hotel work very hard with what they have to make your stay a good one. Thank you to them all.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: great vacation!

Great , beautiful , long beach , especially for those who like to walk. Wonderful food, extremely friendly staff, although hotel by itself needs renovation. Overall greatly recommended place to relax.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Ver nice New facility

Brand new hotel clean modern great rooms bars restaurants and pools. Lovely private beach entertainment was great. The staff where very friendly helpful and plentiful.the food was a little repetitive but good and plentiful considering the embargo. Bar was always stocked including Prosecco and espresso type coffees. If you have children they have their own play ground and pool. We would definitely go back.

Playa Vista Azul: So so

Beautiful resort, food not so much, beach towels were not easy to get, run out of wine, by third day, food not good , never seen potatoes or vegetables all week. Have been to Cuba many times but will think twice about going back

Hotel Camino del Mar: Turquoise sea!

Rooms need some updating. Food was okay, not much variety. Hotel staff was friendly and attentive. Our housekeeping was terrific, cleaning done very well and "towel art" everyday was fun! Live music and shows were really good, musicians were so talented. The real star is the beach. Amazing turquoise sea and white sand.

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Great resort

The Club Cayo Guillermo, aka Grand Caribe, was the first resort on Cayo Guillermo and even though we picked it because it was the cheapest, it turned out to be a very good resort. Sure some of the stuff was dated but the sun was hot, sand was great, the ocean warm, and the staff (most of them) were awesome. The food was good too - but like all resorts limited in its selections and the repetitive identical menu was due to limited availability. They had a Cuban Day where there had an authentic out [... read more]door pig roast and Cuban meal and festival. We asked for and got a duplex with adjoining rooms near the ocean with deck. This was a 3 star resort with 5 star service and class, lots of smiles and warm welcomes. We plan on returning here next year. Our 3 teenagers also came with us and had a great time at the beach or in the pool. The only they missed from another resort we visited 2 years ago was a pool bar. Cuba has the nicest, friendliest, and warm hearted people and the best beashes anywhere.

Carisol los Corales: Charming!

Great little resorts. Very charming. Although the resort needs some work, it is a 3* In Cuba. You make due. There was plenty of food, although repeatitive. I've been many times and will continue to go! My mom's 1st trip and she loved it.if you want fancy accommodations and dinners, go elsewhere If you want great staff who care, beautiful weather and surroundings, then try this out!

Carisol los Corales: Terrific Value

My girlfriend and I just recently returned from a great week at this resort. For one of the less expensive options we found while looking for our trip, we were both completely satisfied with our experiences. Nearly an hour ride to get from the Santiago airport to the resort, but as you go through the Cuban countryside with mountains and landscape all around, the bus ride seems very quick. The staff at the resort were all excellent, without a single issue in that regard. We enjoy how the r [... read more]esort has plenty of shrubs and greenery all throughout, something neither of us had seen at a cuban resort before. The food was as good as you'd expect in Cuba, so we were content with that, and we found the Cuban a la carte to be exceptional. The rooms were not exactly beautiful, but they served their purpose with beds and a washroom, and a mini fridge. The beach had a good amount of seaweed in the water, but also clear patches of sand to wander into the water. Aside from the seaweed in the water, the beach itself is beautiful. Something else to make note of is the amount of dogs and cats on the resort. We are animal lovers so we enjoyed their company, but if you aren't, it is something to be mindful of with this resort. In conclusion, considering the price of this resort compared to others, we found the value to be incredible. While we might look to spend slightly more next year in hopes of a better room and beach, we certainly got more than what we paid for and expected with our visit here.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Satisfied with a couple disappointments

The hotel service, and the room, was very good. The SUNWING REP WAS VERY ARROGANT AND NOT HELPFUL AT ALL,!! he told us outright if we didn't tip we wouldn't get any service, and he didn't give us a chance to tip him, he wouldn't any questions for us.For that reason I would hesitate to book with sun-wing again, The bell boys on the other hand were very helpful they got us a private excursion, and helped with anything we needed. "they deserved more than a tip". I would recommend the hotel for t [... read more]he staff but take a different tour company. The beach was OK, but no snorkeling and not very appealing.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Amazing resort!

It was another time we spent amazing 7 days from March 1 to March 7 2020. We always stay in Royal service, and can not stop enjoy the vacation there. Everything is perfect, we could not dream more.
