Resonance Blu Santa Maria: More than expected!

The resort was perfect! Room was more than enough! Pool was perfect, beach and ocean was exceptional! Food kept you alive! I would return just with different company! Thank you Starfish! I do recommend using the safe for valuables.

Playa Pesquero: Gorgeous resort!!!

5 star resort in my books in all areas! Would definitely go back and would recommend to anyone. Great for families - clean grounds, courteous staff, great food! Large pool areas and beautiful beaches!

Playa Pesquero: Good Resort

Good family resort. Nice Beach, but entertainment lacking. Service was hit and miss especially around the bar. Excursions are the standard Cuban ones you see at all resorts. Not sure if I would go to Holguin again.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: The best beach!

This was a good hotel. I have had better food in Cuba, but there was enough selection, so we did not have problems with it. The services were not the best, but once again, it did not bother us, they just did not get tips. The beach has been the best in Cuba. My only complaint is that someone was playing with a drone in the beach (he was staying at the hotel) the guy lost control of it and the drone almost hit my face, the beach was full of people and I was paying attention because I was not comf [... read more]ortable with the toy. When I went to complaint the woman at complaint's desk told me that the hotel could not ban or prohibit such toys. For that reason alone I would not go back to that hotel or recommend it. I have been in Cuba 12 times and I have never seen anybody play with remote control toys let alone a drone. My family and I go on vacations to Cuba because of the relaxing time and to disconnect, I do not understand why they can not ban such toys in the beach or at least look into it.

Playa Pesquero: nice hotel

Hotel was nice, the grounds were just o.k. lots of garbage in public areas, no pick up at beach, felt like i always had to tip guy for a beach chair - beach is public got approached for food and money. Buffet very repetitive no theme nights. The a la carte's were better. Staff were very good work hard and kind.

Playa Pesquero: excellent value for the price

flew with cubana air out of toronto for a different experience. on the flight out the plane was filthy and the toilets had issues. on the way back the plane and washrooms were better but upon landing the plane had to wait for 10 minutes to approach gate. never again given the choice the trip to the hotel was about an hour but wasn't that bad. checkin was quick. i had requested a 2nd floor room in block 50 or 60. we got 64 2nd floor. it was centrally located, thank you for the room. the room ha [... read more]d nice caribbean colors, a nice sized bathroom enough hot water and the water pressure was the best i've ever had travelling south. it had a balcony and bar fridge stocked daily. there was a tube tv with a couple of english channels. a couple of issues that were corrected quickly. the resort itself is big and beautiful with a lot of kids given the time of year. mostly brits with canadians, french and english. the first day is always confusing, once you get your bearings, it's fine. we are beach people and spent little time at the pool but while at the pool found it large and clean with plenty of lounges. there's a swim up bar. the beach is one of the best we've been to in the caribbean. the sand is white and deep and the beach is shared with 3 resorts, so good for long walks. the water was warm and because its in a bay there are no waves. my only complaint was that there should be showers right at the paths where the beach ends. the snorkelling was great right in front of the gazebo. the food was ok not great. the buffets had the most made to order stations i've seen. if you didn't want to wait in line they had prepared food. we went to 3 ala cartes again the food was good not great. the internet was spotty and the support is terrible the person didn't have a clue and had the same response for every situation enough said the entertainment shows were ok. they had water ballet in the pool sunday night but the music was so loud we only stayed for 10 minutes and the music could be heard in our room until 11pm. my biggest issue is how loud they play the music at all the music events. bands and beach party i really enjoyed the mojito bar. i lived on mojitos for a week best i ever had. i wish they changed the karoke played there at night to more of a singalong type thing. went on one free excursion from hola sun on a catamaran tour. took a 20 minute bus ride for a 30 minute ride on a catamaran no sail raised. if you ever been on a catamaran its a waste of time. didn't do any other excursions. this was my first time diving south, i took the course at home. it was extremely disappointing. the dive center is located on blau. the people there are unfriendly and say very little. cuba is fished out and has little wild life most of the dives is about reefs. the weather for our week was gorgeous,sunny and hot. we gave tips when we received good service and they were really appreciated. in review i would highly recommend this resort. You can't expect much more for the price. i'd return if the diving gets better.

The resort was very nice. The beach was amazing. Best beach we've ever been to. Need improvement on the mixed drinks but everything else was awesome. People were very friendly and always wanting to please you.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Beautiful Beach..Resort was good for the price!

The beach for this hotel is beautiful.. we enjoyed the pool and 24hr "grill" which allows hotdogs and burgers all the time. However, the night before we checked out our safe was robbed :( Everything but our passports were taken from us... Including a precious family cross. Be careful as we heard this happening twice on our resort... Very disappointing end to our trip, however the employees of the hotel work very hard. We had a good time for the price, however the hotel and the robbery left us disappointed.. do NOT bring ANY valuables at all on this trip! we brought very little: just our wallets and one or two pieces of jewelry... and everything was taken. -our friend had his iPhone 6 stolen from the room. - our other friends got robbed of all their belongings inside their suitcases.

Playa Pesquero: Bonafide 5 star

This was by far the best all-inclusive trip I have been on. Everything was absolutely perfect. The weather, the beach, the staff, and the food (surprise surprise) was fantastic. I am always thankful when I visit Cuba because the people are just so loving and giving. Bottom line: I would highly recommend.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Not what we expected

When we got to the hotel there was only one person working at the front desk. We had to wait in line for almost 30min. There was no elevators to take our luggage to the second floor we had to carry it up ourselves. We went to the 24hour bar that on the website says they have food, the bartender said they didn't(later I saw someone eating a sandwich there) and go to the restaurant it closes at 10 and it was 930. We went to the restaurant the chef told us to sit down the servers were speaking Span [... read more]ish saying they were going to tell us they were closed and we have to leave, unaware that my boyfriend speaks Spanish. When they realized he could speak Spanish they served us food but they said they only have chicken and potatoes left. I have been to lower star hotels and have had way better serves. Plus our toilet was broken the whole time water constantly running.

Playa Pesquero: Hard to Leave

I had the best time at Playa Pesquero, Thank you Michael Jose and Dayma for making the best Mohito's on the island and putting up with Karaoke's as they sung into the night. accommodations and food were amazing and the snorkeling on the reef in front of resort kept me busy all day thanks again

Playa Pesquero: Our 5th trip to this resort. Amazing people.

Nice big resort with lots of dining options. Some premium items were limited. Beautiful grounds usually well maintained. Spacious rooms, but resort is starting to show its age. Maid service was great!

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Biggest disappointment Ever! Hated it

After getting off the plane we get on our shuttle which was completly full. After a 2 hour drive the first drop off to Memories every person on the shuttle got off but us. 5 minutes more we arrive to starfish. Completely dead and dark. We get to our room and settle a bit we are starving we go to the lobby and ask where the food was were told thete is NO FOOD and we had to go to Memories to eat. Finally after 2 hours we get back to starfish. The whole resort besides the lobby was completly dark we couldnt find our room there was no lights on. Once we get to our room we noticed there was a plate if old food in the halleay that looked as if it was tbere for 2 weeks. Our room had dirty sheets no hot water at all the phone didnt work the tv didnt work the list goes on. The next morning we notice there is approximately 6 other guests at the whole resort. I called my travel agent to ask for help because the sunwing rep would not be at our redort until 5 that day. The 6 minute call cost 20.00 we were told that for a cost we would get switched. We finally were told we wete being moved to sol cayo santa maria whete there would be ppl there and working hot water and most importantly FOOD!! Our Cuba experience was horrible and a complete waste of money. Never ever go. The women who worked there gave us all dirty looks wow if looks could kill.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Best beach and pool!

Resort well laid out to access everything. Rooms spacious, especially the corner units. Food was really good with lots of variety with the beach grill being our favorite. Beach is amazing and we will be back!

Playa Pesquero: Not what expected...

I rated this resort a three star because I love Cuba and the cubans, their music, calm, smile... The resort itself is probably old and they don't have enough resources to renew it properly. The showers at the pool do not work, the washrooms are just a few and some of them waiting to be fixed. A minus of this resort is the size of it - it's huge and the distance you have to walk between room, restaurants, lobby, beach...is way to much, especially if it's very hot outside or a heavy rain is fallin [... read more]g (as happend in out case). There is a transportation service within the resort which is very good for your move with the baggage. On the plus side, we really enjoyed the beach and water, the best in the world. The food was very good, too, compared with other Cuban resorts. We had 4 a la carte restaurants and all were very good choices.

Playa Pesquero: Great Resort But...

This was our second time at Playa Pesquero. We enjoyed our first visit so we decided to go back. The resort is very well maintained and the staff is great. We found the food to be well above average for Cuba. The beach is sandy and there is also some places for snorkelling. The rooms we had 1815 and 1818 were in good shape and actually better than our first visit. If you have mobility issues, it's the best spot to be as you are close to the lobby, pools and buffets. This is a very large resort a [... read more]nd transportation is provided by elongated golf carts. The only negative thing I have to say is that we had 2 items that went missing from our room. We are very certain it was the maid as both items were women's clothing. This was disappointing as we treated the maid very well. We did not report it to the hotel as we didn't want to make a big deal about it. The rooms come with safes so I would highly recommend you use them. Aside from that, it was a fantastic trip.

Playa Pesquero: Wonderful vacation

Totally enjoyed our week at Playa Pesquerio. Beautiful resort but it is the warm and friendly people that continue to bring us back. Wonderful beach and pool area. Great variety of food options. Miss my wonderful coffee in the lobby every morning.

Resonance Blu Santa Maria: Beautiful beach

This resort is beautiful, problem was they were in the process of closing for renovation and we found as the resort got empty the service really slacked. We have been to Cuba 12 times and the food at the resort was one of the worst, but I don't go for the food, the amazing beach and fabulous pool made up for it . I would for sure return to this resort once the renovations are done.

it is my 5th time and always i come back refreshed and pampered!!! when i go, i know what to expect and quality standards are always maintained - the staff is friendly and discreet, beaches clean and even though the largest resort if you want peace and quiet you get it -

This was my Third time to Cuba and I have always enjoyed myself. But I was disappointed in this vacation. I have traveled all over the world some high end locations and some where you are in the middle of nowhere and no bugs is the best you get for rooms. But lack of water, general indifference of the staff, among other things was not what I expected when I booked a four star resort. This is the first non-favorable rating I have ever given a location, i'm general prepared for things not to be perfect and do enough research to know what I'm getting into, but I will say I was disappointed and would not be returning to this hotel or area...though the beach is BEAUTIFUL!
