Brisas Guardalavaca: Very good resort

I think is good with room for improvment. The beach is beautiful as well as the natural place. The staff is educated and friendly, well dressed and helpful all the time. The cleaners do a very good job.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Great value

Beautiful hotel, lots of space, friendly staff and food was very good for Cuba. The beach was amazing and wasn’t very busy. Lots of activities onsite and excursions available offsite. You can also walk around the neighbourhood, the locals are friendly and the area is safe.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Beautiful resort with lunch gardens

Resort was beautiful. Gardens were lusch and well maintained supervised by Dennis and his team. Kudos to all of them. Food wise, there was variety. There was beef, pork, chicken, fish and side dishes plenty. Al la carts were excellent. Went to Indian, Japanese and international. All were excellent. The rooms were new, clean and well maintained. The only 2 concerns I had was the animation in the lobby. Every evening, lots of people but no entertainment. There were some music, but th [... read more]ey needed more. Also the bar in the lobby. They need to be more experienced in mixing drinks. I had 2 drinks there that were not made right unfortunately. The crowd vibe was older at this resort. If you're looking for a quiet resort, this would be the place.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Love this Resort!

I love this resort, the gardens are beautiful and are taken care of. Food is wonderful as well as the entertainment and the people who work there. It was my second time being there within 3 months. They are so welcoming towards you and they do remember you as a friend.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Nice, clean resort

I didn't have high expectation since this is a Cuban resort, but it was surprisingly very nice resort, both my wife and I loved it. My wife is very picky about cleanliness, food, and services but she was surprised at how the clean the resort was. It is a 25 year old accommodation but it was still a beautiful place. Totally recommend it.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent resort worth returning to

We were thoroughly impressed with the resort (particularly the Royal Service section with its private bar, lounge, restaurant, and infinity pool - it was absolutely worth the relatively minimal upgrade charge the front desk offered); with the staff who were all very friendly and fluent in English; with the grounds and facilities (including excellent soft sand beaches with surprisingly good coral/reef snorkeling); and with the evening entertainment (including live music earlier in the evening and [... read more] a variety of well-executed shows). The spa services were very reasonable, and getting access to the spa pool and beach for the day is worth the price of a massage on its own. One small surprise - as all beaches in Cuba are technically public access we occasionally saw a local with kids on the adult-only resort. A mild perturbance, and there was never more than one family on a beach that we noticed. Another small surprise - while the resort description states scuba is included, it is not (as of a couple of years ago). But the good news is two dives on a professional boat with good instructors is only $60 USD. If you buy a larger dive package each dive can get down to $23 each! I've never paid so little in my life. And the scuba "scenery" was very nice. Of course traveling in May the resort wasn't busy but it was pleasantly occupied and staff seemed to work as hard as they would in high season. Yes, the food offerings were somewhat simple, but there was good variety at the buffet and a nice selection of a la carte restaurants. And yes, as with all Cuban resorts there were things that couldn't be found (e.g. ketchup, orange juice) but that didn't take away from an overall excellent experience. Having traveled extensively in the Caribbean I've been to "fancier" properties, but the combination of a beautiful setting, great facilities, peace and quiet, and value for money combine to make this one of the few resorts I would be interested in going back to.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Really Great Stay

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin was really great! The hotel grounds are beautiful, the rooms are new and very clean. The set up of the resort is easy to navigate and everything is within easy walking distance. You dont even have to walk in any rain, to get to the lobby and restaurants as there are covered routes to the main building. The food was very good and lots to choose from. If there  [... read more]is something that you cannot live without, take it with you (they had no ketchup, mustard, honey or peanut butter while we were there, but we just ate something else. No big deal). They also had a beautiful lobby, a sports bar, games room, and a good entertainment team. We didn't attend any shows so cannot speak to that. The Sanctuary check in/out, Sanctuary Bar at the lobby and beach, were a bonus. They made some great drinks. The beach is beautiful. Lots of chairs at the beach and pool and never had to save or wait for one (May). I prefer the beach at Cayo Coco and Santa Maria. This beach had some coral and rocks in the water, which for snorkellers, is a dream, but I prefer the straight sand. The beach had a nice stretch to walk, but not as long as Santa Maria. There were lots of coral and shells to pick from, as this is the only resort on this beach and hasn't been picked over. The plan we were told, is to build 19 hotels and an airport to service this area. Right now it is almost a 2 hour ride from the airport. But the guides on the bus were insightful and it was like getting a free excursion. I would definitely return.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Mixed Feelings

I have been to Cuba a few times, first time in Holguin. When booking a Cuba holiday you know you are going there for the beaches, not for the gastronomic experience. However, from my previous travels to Cuba there were no complaints, there was always something you would find as a good option at the restaurants and bars. Not this time around. Regarding food choices, I can't say that there wasn't always something you could eat to not go hungry, but the issue we had was using the restaurants i [... read more]n the evenings. They sell the idea as in other resorts of booking at their a la carte restaurants that offer different options than the buffets available for lunches. However, this is not entirely true. The food offered/quality was the same as the lunches except your choices were limited because it went from a buffet to 3 things on the menu. Apparently the Asian restaurant is somewhat better, but we weren't able to get a reservation before we flew back home as our trip had to end before expected. The first night at the "Mediterranean" restaurant the air conditioner wasn't working. It was a sauna in the room. The waitress was literally dripping sweat. People were leaving the restaurant as they couldn't stand the temperature inside. We decided to stay as we appreciated the effort by the staff, but unfortunately the food was really terrible. We then stuck to eating from the Coral lunch buffet and putting away some of the food so we could have what was good for our evening meal in our room. As far as drinks, we were not able to enjoy a mojito as they didn't have the ingredients to prepare it. And when you finally found something you could enjoy, by the afternoon or the next day it was no longer available. Mixed feeling over this vacation come from the fact that the hotel facilities/rooms at the Coral were fantastic, as well as the pool. Yes, there a couple of things that are run down which is normal, but nothing that would break a vacation experience. Cubans are friendly and warm people and there is no question about that, that would always be a positive experience when you visit Latin America. However, this is a review based on my hotel/food experience and yes, although they (staff) are doing everything they can with what they have available, I find perhaps the owners could make a better effort to provide the real experience they advertise about their resort. If they can't provide good food/variation of food at the a la cart , then close them and focus on making the buffets better at night. In short, would I go back, absolutely not. And I also wouldn't recommend it to my family and friends purely based on the dinning experience and quality control. Do a little more research and maybe you will find something in the same country at a better resort. With respect, for me a vacation is a place to rest, relax and enjoy a different experience after long working hours and life commitments. The trip is not cheap, so I expect "some quality" (with a few reservations of course),and this is not what we got. Thank you.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Resort!

We knew what to expect, only the best, another amazing stay! It’s our fourth time visiting this resort. We were welcomed by Lina’s amazing and efficient team! All staff members should be recognized for their professionalism and their impeccable hospitality! The presence of the general manager was much appreciated. As for wine; white, red, rosé, and sparkling wine were all available! Nice variety of drinks! Every night on the RS side, talented entertainment were scheduled! Check the daily activities posted. We enjoyed a nice walk in the nature with two energetic resort animators. Cuban day is on Wednesdays with very good food and entertainment on the main side beach! Liked the small catamaran ride! We also went to the market at Guardalavaca. Snorkelling was good! We saw lots of fishes and corals. Thank you to all for the amazing vacation!

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Good resort

Ground were very nice. Beach was lovely. Accommodations were clean and spacious, with nice decor. Staff were great. Food was good for breakfasts and lunches, a la carte was a huge let down. Seem to have a problem with HOW to cook, all dried out and tasteless.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Amazing family vacation place

Everyone was so friendly at the resort and we will definitely be returning. Restaurants were great, we loved the Japanese restaurant as it was great food and great entertainment. Amenities were clean and well maintained. Beach area is nice. Close distance to the catamaran day trip. Daily activities were really fun with the staff

Resort spotless, beautiful beaches, gardens, meals, staff( hotel manager makes a big difference and Jorge was always available, good listener and made sure things happened. So aft well trained, polite always and would definitely anything for us.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Really nice resort

The staff were very friendly, rooms and grounds were to my standards. The beach was incredible! There was always food, they repeated the same dishes but my husband and I ddn't mind! We will definetly go back! The 50 minute ride to the resort was not bad!

Grand Memories Holguin: Top notch resort

Grounds were well maintained. Rooms were very nice. The only complaint with the room was the lack of bottle water being left in the bar fridge. We were told it was due to lack of plastics to make the bottles. Other than the first two bottles on our first day, we refilled our bottles at the bar, and once received two more bottles from the staff we met in a hallway. The restaurant/bar closest to beach was permanently closed and bathrooms were locked. This was not convenient.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: This is now my GO-TO resort!!

This was my second trip to Iberostar Coral level in Holguin. My first was in January 2023 and as soon as I got home I booked this trip to return in April 2023. Yes, it was that good!! My room was cleaned spotless every day, so a special thanks to the housekeeping staff. Are there shortages? Of course there are; but the staff are excellent at working with what they have and trust me, you will not go hungry or thirsty! I have travelled to Cuba many many times and I have never felt more welcomed than I did at this resort. The pool is amazing; clean and inviting. The beach, well there are 2 of them, one smaller about a 5 minute walk from your room and the other, larger one is maybe a 10 minute walk; but BONUS, you can get a shuttle to either of these if you would rather not walk. Both are clean and inviting with plenty of lounge chairs. I could go on, but let's just say I doubt I will go to any other resort from now on, and that's saying a lot!! Love it!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Remarkable Resort!

This resort was everything we could have wanted to experience a wonderful vacation away. Very clean and well maintained. The staff are always willing to assist with a huge smile. They go above and beyond at all times. There are a number of large pools and a beautiful beach. The food exceeded our expectations. My only suggestion would be more nightly entertainment in the lobby.

Amazing time at this resort! If you want to be treated like royalty in paradise, this is the place to go! From the outstanding staff, to great accommodations, beautiful views and many options for food,entertainment and excursions, you cannot go wrong! Can't wait to visit again!

Iberostar Coral Holguin: Absolutely wonderful!

We visited the Coral Level at Iberostar in Holguin from April 30-May 7th and had the most wonderful time. This was our first ever time in Cuba and it will not be our last. The resort was immaculate. Very clean and comfortable. The grounds were beautifully maintained and the staff were beyond wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and selection as we had heard about the shortages. Definitely a must as the waters are beautifully turquoise and the white sand is spectacular. There were always chairs and cabanas available by the pool and beach which was amazing. No need to get up early and reserve a spot. Carlos the entertainer made our time at the pool so much fun. We enjoyed volleyball, merengue lessons and his beautiful singing and guitar playing. Yunior our butler always made sure we were well taken care of, and arranged a few beautiful surprises for our anniversary. We made lifelong friends during our week at the Coral Level and cannot wait to return.
