Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Can't review - got switched to the sub par Casa Marina with zero notice

We didn't get to stay at the Cofresi resort that we'd been making plans around for 8 months. Got switched with NO notice to Casa Marina which was a HUGE disappointment. Nothing but issues and poor rooms, drinks, food.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Resort

Hotel was great grounds was well taken care of. Staff was friendly and accommodating. For the al a Carte options a Dominican Republic restaurant would have been.nice and have theme nights at the buffet Had a difficult time getting beach chairs not enough for the amount of people at the resort. Chairs was being saved by towels that was not moved for hours. This is unfair to the others

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Gorgeous Resort

We have been returning to this resort twice a year for the last 5-6 years. Wonderful staff, great food, enjoyable entertainment and amazing beach! Lisbeth, Manager of Public Relations took care of our every need. We will, however, make sure we book our December vacation early enough so we can get our usual Oceanfront Jr Suite as we prefer the larger size rooms and view directly over the beach to the ocean. Viva Heavens by Wyndham: No 5 star

A few positive comments The chicken was quick and easy the rum is really really nice large airy and the linens were lovely. also, the staff were helpful very kind and sweet. Unfortunately, I found the food to be almost cafeteria style with some items that were in edible. Meet items for instance. Generally the fish was OK but nothing seem to have any spice or much taste. Breakfast was good, the fruit was lovely . And been known to us the beach was quite far from the hotel, even though you walke [... read more]d through a very lovely forested area . However, the alternative was to sit at the pool, which if you hadn’t been there by 6 o’clock in the morning was impossible to get a chair as two older couples trave Ing together the music was endless, sound loud and quite unpleasant. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beware

We booked this resort and were sent to their sister resort with no notification. Service was terrible. Rooms were dated, no hot water, and toilets overflowed. We had to pay $375 for a room with a functioning toilet. Staff were rude and not helpful. If you had a question they would always send you to someone else. They made you feel like you were a bother.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Everything great except for the bed in the room

I was happy with the resort except for that we only had water stations and when I went to get water from the water station outside our room it was filled with sludge and than when we checked into our room room 3007 the bed was damp we reported it to the desk and that we wanted to be moved but because they were Full the couldn’t move us and within two days I was sick because Of sleeping in a damp bed and when one of our friends touched our bed they couldn’t get over how wet it was and we even t [... read more]urned the air conditioning off and it didn’t help so my week of vacation I was sick and came home Sick and ended up on antibiotics and puffers because Of it I will never stay on the ground floor again.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Relaxing vacation

This resort is proably a 3.5 star. Food was ok. Rooms clean, property maintained. The beach was our only problem. Lot of garbage and seaweed not good for snorkling. If it wasnt for the beach i would go back. We are beach people. If you like to hang around the pool you are all set. Beautiful pool. Still enjoyed ourselfves and will go back to Dominican

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Gran Ventana Beach Resort Puerta Plata

This was our 3rd time here , I’d give this resort a 5 * , we were a group of 8 all seniors ? .Rooms cleaned and roomy , meals were delicious , loved the Ocean beach bar , Nachos , chicken wings, Burgers , hotdogs and fries . Drinks were all good , we did a la carte once that we booked it was delicious, we were late booking 8:30 so the rest we did buffet . Lots of choices no complaints . He spoke to us all and welcomed any suggestions, he has an open door policy . All employees welcomed us and were friendly , visit Jackie at the bar by the Adult pool her drink is amazing ask for a “Jackie Special “ delicious. Also a big shout out to William Pichardo (security at entrance) he was kind to give us a lift to the shopping centre . We’ll definitely be back ????

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good overall

The service here is a hit and miss. There are some that just don't give the best vibe. Also the food is becoming a bit repetitive and it wasn't as good as it was last year. Shout out to the friendliest waiter, Felix. Anthony running the front desk was understandable and helped make our vacation what we expected. Thank you.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Nice resort/ great location

The rooms were ok. Nothing special!! The service was good. The only complaint would be the below average food!! I would return for another vacation at this resort. Many very good restaurants walking distance from this resort.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Could be amazing.

Grounds are beautiful with lovely views of the beach. Sometimes you will see cruise ships in the harbour. Rooms are small but clean with comfortable beds. Take note that rooms with two beds do not have bedside lamps, only the king bed rooms have one on either side. Buffet is not outstanding, often the daily meat was over cooked and chewy. There was always a shortage of pool chairs and bar/lobby seating. The pool area is lovely. All the staff were friendly.

Playabachata Hotel: Disappointing

We booked three rooms for a one week family vacation arriving 11pm. First night no toilet tissue in one of the rooms, no towels in another, requested a crib for an eight month old, had to wait till mid afternoon to get one even tho one was requested previously. The shortage of towels and toilet tissue continued through out our trip. There were no beach towels available for the first few days. I was there the year before and had such a terrific experience I wanted to share it with my family. The weather was great the food was plentiful.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great resort

We were there for two weeks. This resort is truly amazing. It is very clean, the food at the buffet is very good and varied. The a la carte restaurants are the best and the beef steaks very tender which is unusual for the islands. Our room was very nice, a bit far from the beach but overlooking the quiet pool and bar. Clean rooms, good food, friendly people with great entertainment. We had no complaints. Our ocean view was breath taking. Monkeyland, Ocean world and the Waterfalls of Damajagua were the highlights of our trip

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Great family vacation

The hotel was huge and we didn't get to see the whole resort in our 7 day stay but what we did see was amazing. There were shuttles to take you around and never had to wait long for one to show up. The food was very good and plentiful. Drinks were good. large gift shop on site. Rooms were clean. Wifi was expensive but we went to the pharmacy at confressi next door(5 min walk) and got sim cards for our phones for 15us dollars and that gave us 10 GB of data which was more than enough for the 7 d [... read more]ays. Playabachata Hotel: You get what you pay for

The grounds were well maintained, and clean and the location itself was beautiful. There is not enough staff serving at buffets, not enough dishes, cups or cutlery. Some staff were quite rude at the bars. I am sure because they were not enough help. Food at the buffet was ample, but very plain and there were long lineups. Safe in room had no lock.

We expected this so called 5 star resort to really stand up to its reputation which I eventually realised has been built through fake reviews. We were given a smelly/damp room that smelled of Mold and it took the resort 3 days to change our room. Thats more than half of our vacation spent in a smelly room, its a shame I can't get my money back. The reception made false promises and we had to spend most of our time in the heat outdoors to save ourselves from the mold. The resort pool and beach area are great and the entertainment team is excellent, the food is average. The drinks are good. The resort could have easily helped us by changing our room when we complained but its just upsetting that a so called 5 star resort will make you spend 3 days in a DAMP room!

Playabachata Hotel: Waste of Money - We were Lied To

I didn't expect a palace but I did expect: 1. To be placed in the resort I booked. We were booked in the Playabachata resort but upon arrival we were put in the Coral resort - oldest of the 3 resorts. Not cool. 2. To be treated with respect. Upon arrival, my father was given a room on the second floor. We had booked a first floor room as he can't climb stairs. This was arranged with TripCentral and we were told none were available. This was 11pm and I had to wait until 1am (with my [... read more] 85 year old father sitting in the dark with all the luggage on cement steps) when everyone else had checked in (they wouldn't speak to me until then). After much forceful discussion, they finally took a room from another couple and gave us a first floor room. By the way, the couple they took the keys from checked in after us so there definitely WAS first floor rooms available. 3. Attention to important repair - The phone in my fathers room was no working. This was brought to their attention Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, several times every day and nothing was ever done to repair it. If my father needed help/assistance, he would never have been able to contact me. This continued for our entire 14 days. No one even came to investigate. 4. Dietary Restrictions - we both have dietary restrictions which were relayed to Tripcentral/Sunwing, and also communicated to the resort guest relations staff. Several hours were spent putting everything in place for this upon arrival. At every meal, we had to fight to get food. No one knew anything about it. Most of the Chefs didn't know what we were talking about and most nights we didn't get any meals. We had to to eat basically tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce off the salad bar only. I can't imagine how this is acceptable anywhere! We finally picked up our bags and left the resort moving to another one at our expense. This had to be the WORST vacation and worst group of staff to deal with that I've ever been on. The only positives were that the beach and the weather were both lovely. Shame on all of you for passing this type of resort off as a 4star. It would barely qualify as a 2. Shame, Shame, Shame.

Rating is not accurate. I would say this is a 2.5- 3 star hotel now. 1hr wait to check in 10 people. Lobby staff either poorly trained or managed. We stayed in a basic room. Room keys didn’t work. No AC, balcony door handle broken off, fan didn’t work and windows screwed shut. TV remote didn’t work. Buttons on the TV didn’t work. Only volume up/not down Bedside Outlet box laying on the floor. Staff- friendly but not always helpful Entertainment- fair Most pools with cracked concrete, dirty They don’t seem concerned to make repairs/maintenance. I’m sure it was an amazing resort at one point, but we were ripped off. It was not worth the money we payed.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Party Resort

The hotel is very clean, rooms are comfortable with large Smart flatscreen tv. A few English channels. If you like loud music playing until 11:00, foam pool party, white night and silent night parties then this is the place for you. If you want to wind down with some peace, go somewhere else. Block 4 and 5 hotel rooms are very noisy, it sounds like the party is in your room. Buffet is ok. A la cartes are much better with excellent service and tasty food and nice wines or beer.
