I am not a fussy person and I appreciate and am grateful when people have to work hard for a living so keeping that in mind...
Let me start with the grounds....beautiful.
This includes the pool (cleaned every morning along with the deck), beach and common areas outside.
The buffet was huge it had a large variety of different food every day for breakfast ,lunch and dinner and it was very tasty. The steak a-la-carte was delicious and the portion was huge. We did not try any of the other a-la[... read more]-carte's.
Room had a funny smell (bug spray I think) but it was very clean, well stocked.
The lobby and seating areas were clean ,we did see 2 cockroaches sitting across from the sports bar overlooking the beach, but this was an outdoor area and they could of came from the outside. (only 1 time did I see bugs this was it). Wait staff was perfect and most staff were attentive and engaging. Bars were clean and getting a drink was a breeze. The sport's bar also had nacho chips and patties to snack on later at night.
The only reason I have to take a 1/2 star away is because, a couple of the staff got a little rude in there response to some questions and seemed to have an bad attitude.
I would have to give this resort a 4 1/2 star.

Riu Ocho Rios: Excellent Resort
Hotel was very clean and easy to get around. Food was amazing with a wide variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Pools were clean with plenty of seating. Sports bar came in handy to watch football and relax
This resort is very well kept and all common areas are very visually appealing. The rooms are fairly well appointed although not enough outlets to charge all devices. The a la Carte dining experiences were enjoyable but the buffet needs a serious upgrade. The fruit was not appealing. Hot foods were not kept hot enough. I used the on-site microwave several times to warm up my plate of food.
The noise level (if your room faces the pool area) was constantly irritating. Sitting on the room balcony[... read more] to have peace and quiet to read a good book was NOT happening. I was in the luxury side, adults only. I will never stay on this side again. The family side (even with the kids) was much more peaceful.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Beautiful Resort and Grounds
This resort is large so the pool and beach bars a pre-made slushie style coladas and daiquiri, so don't expect fresh fruit there. The lobby bar has better quality drinks. Buffets were plentiful and satisfactory. Our superior oceanview jr suite room was pretty standard with a beautiful view. The resort (Dec 2023) is in the process of updating their rooms (USB ports, etc)
Just over an hour drive from the Montego Bay airport. Different beaches spread out across the the resort. Kids Waterp[... read more]ark, they loved and nice its location on one of the beaches and had a bar for refreshments for young and old.
Nothing within walking distance outside of the resort to explore.

Riu Palace Jamaica: accessing to other resorts were big plus
During my initial visit to Jamaica, I must commend the excellent service provided by the staff. I never sensed that their efforts were solely motivated by tips; they genuinely appeared happy and accommodating. The overall atmosphere was delightful, and the food was exceptional. While I'm not a fan of pastries, I suggest the management consider sending their pastry chefs for training. This improvement could make a significant difference, especially for those seeking to enjoy a delightful Jamaican[... read more] coffee accompanied by a pastry.

Riu Palace Jamaica: RiU Palace Montego Bay did not disappoint
We booked our vacation (high school buddies) with Beth Mckinley from Trip Central, she was attentive and very effective. We appreciated her customer service and her professionalism.
The transfer to hotel was smooth once we got going. The hotel is one of 3 RIU properties that are side by side with the Palace at the centre. They are all adults only which was great. What made our vacation exceptional was the staff. They are Riu’s best resources! Management should treat them better however[... read more], for example, allow them to access wifi during their breaks, allow them to eat at the buffet and mingle with the patrons while enjoying a good meal would go a long way.
BEACH:: 6/10, not the best, lots of coral on beach which makes it hard on feet if you walk barefoot. You are limited to walk in front of the 3 RiU properties only but this offers a decent walk if you do it a couple of times. The beach was ok to swim in, the water was warm and there were hardly any weeds. I like that the resort is smoke free and offers smokers smoking areas throughout the property.
ROOMS: 7/10. The rooms were very clean, the bedding and pillows were comfortable, the water pressure in shower was great and the room was spacious enough. The design however was not practical with a bath tub next to bed with no privacy wall or curtain. The shower is also in the corner but no privacy wall, there was a door where the toilet is and that’s it. Room service was amazing, always on time and most of the time always accurate with our orders.
BARS: 10/10 exceptional service everywhere and every time! Hats off to all the bartenders who work hard to prepare quality cocktails.
FOOD: 10/10 excellent, both at the à la carte restaurants and the buffet. The buffet had lots to offer and everything was very tasty. It was easy to make reservations for the restaurants using the RIU application. This application that you download on your phone is your best tool, with it you can contact maintenance, housekeeping, front desk for all your requests. They are very prompt and efficient. Love the application. You can also use the app to scan QR codes at the restaurant and from your beach chair to view menus. Love the app!
ENTERTAINMENT 8/10, the animation team works very hard to entertain guests and are very dynamic. Special kudos to Spider-Man, fuzzy dj, and Starfire. We particularly enjoyed the live entertainment but got very tired of the Christmas music playing at the 24 hour bar. I know it is the season, but a mixed playlist would have been appreciated. We also would have liked to hear more reggae music.
VENDORS: There are no vendors on the beach, they are in kayaks and will approach the beach to chat with tourists and to sell stuff but they are not pushy at all. The resort should consider a vendor market once a week to allow those who do not want to venture away from hotel to purchase local trinkets and souvenirs. There was a place across the street but it was not worth it. The sign said Santa’s Village but did not see any Santa or festive decorations. The gift shops in the hotel were overpriced.
BEACH TOWELS: 10/10, they had plenty and oh they smelled so good. The towels were in good condition and we did not notice any stains.
STAFF: RIU’s most valuable resources - 10/10. All our encounters with staff at front desk, restaurant, bars were extremely personable and made our vacation a pleasant and memorable one. Special recognition goes to David (Lifeguard) who went above and beyond with his compassion and kind heart, Tamar, bartender at the Elite pool bar was also a real gem, Monique bartender was also a delight, she impressed us with her ability to balance a tray full of drinks on her head. Another special person is Dr, Phil who worked at the buffet and also made sure we had a table and mimosas ready for breakfast.
The only complaint we have are the tourists that came in big groups, the ladies had long hair extensions, extra long fingernails, lots of bling and very little clothes to cover their very large curves. They were loud with no considerations for others, screaming at the top of their lungs in hallways in the middle of the night, filling their plates, leaving most of it (very wasteful) and never tipping for services. Their sense of entitlement was a huge turn off and we felt bad for the staff who had to endure them. We talked to other tourists at the sister hotels and many had the same comments and made the same observations. The staff deserve a bonus to serve these type of clients.

Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: All the negative reviews are true
Food sucks. They’re serving frozen food and calling themselves 5 star resort. This place felt like a scam. All the negative reviews I read were true. The entertainment was not good. The stage audience chairs were empty.

We love this resort. 10 min from the airport. 15 minutes from hip strip. 5 minutes walk to scotchies famous jerk chicken.
I'm surprised to read bad reviews about this place! We both think that the food is really good! There is something for everyone. It's the perfect spot for families.
We both want to come back.

Riu Negril: Rui Negril
Hotel and grounds were very elegant and well kept. The room was okay just a bit dated. All rooms are very close to the beach and the views are great. The beach looks beautiful but not for swimming as there is lots of weed and grass growing in the sand.
Food was great with large selections to please everyone. Hotel staff was very welcoming and fun.

Ocean Eden Bay: Amazing & accommodating hotel
My sister has severe food limitations and the resort was amazing. The chefs checked with her at each restaurant even at the buffet the chef took her around to point out safe foods.
The staff was great and the beach was fantastic. My third time to Ocean Eden Bay and it didn’t disappoint.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Dated and showing it!
The resort looks nice outside with the pools and trees and nice landscaping, but rooms are showing signs of needing updating, public bathrooms often have something not working- hand dryer, toilets etc., and we had no air conditioning in our rooms for 4 days and 3 nights!! Apparently, some guests had no water either.
Also, their restaurant reservation system is ridiculous! They post one week's availability at a time and if you don't catch it right when they post it, all the spots are filled. The[... read more]ir app that you're supposed to use is not user friendly and doesn't have all the info you need on it. We were on the adult side, and they didn't do a very good job of keeping kids out of our area or pool.
Food was generally good but buffet often cold or out of stuff. Food at the al a cartes was hit and miss.
Having said all that, the service staff are fantastic! Very friendly and helpful. Terreshia, Ladonna (Lisa) and Latoya are great. Lobby bar staff and al a carte staff are great as well.
This resort needs to make some serious changes. Maybe the general manager or whomever makes the decisions needs to change. I've been there twice now and will never go back.

Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton: Great resort
Had everything our family of four generations (toddlers to seniors) needed such as kiddie pools, beaches, etc and lounge chairs were never a problem. Getting a beach towel or returning it was not an easy process so had to lug it back to the room until the next day. Clean and well maintained grounds and buildings and best of all the food was very good with plenty of selections.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: Disappointed
Was frustrated trying to book a'la Cart restaurants. One of our party had been at this resort a couple of months prior and was told we could book all 10 before we arrived. We could only book 3. Then we were told the restaurats would be loaded mid afternoon Saturday. They were loaded Friday night, then all booked for where and/or when we wanted to go.
The entertainment on the app. should state 'where' it is located, to prevent us trying to find it. Children should be kept out of the adult [... read more]section and pool by staff. Not wait for visitors to advise staff. Buffet food was never warm, even at the time it was opened. Air conditioning was out in our rooms and some restaurants for 3 days of our stay, without any communication from staff.
Water pressure was a problem on Friday December 8th, including not being able to flush the toilet. Pool was not adequately cleaned. There was algae on walls, and leaves on floor of pool. In 10 days we were there, I never saw it vacuumed, we were at the pool all day and could see it from our rooms.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Nice Resort
Small beachfront resort, 2nd time their first time no issues what so ever. They are lacking towels , had 2 bath and 2 facecloths on arrival, never a bathmat. I was aware of this so brought 2 of my own. Used a beach towel for a bath mat as we never received one & shower leaks on the floor. The couple we were with had no towels, pillows , safe was broken & door was damaged and didn't lock properly, they did get a new room on day 3. New room everything worked. They ran out of beer & some mix day 2 [... read more]but got stocked up again day 4. Our Room had a shower curtain for a door & fridge empty on arrival but received pop and beer day 2 . We only received water twice during stay but always cold water in Lobby. They use to have a local band nightly in the lobby bar which was great. Food was good in the buffet & only did 1 ala cart as they are impossible to get into as only one open at each resort . Over all we had a great time but did notice a difference when we where there last. Company needs to up their supply for staff to give to guests, there is no reason to not have towels, pillows in room & water. If they have no towels to replace what they take they should leave what is there. I did feel for the staff as they did get complaints , but they can only do what they are supplied with. As I said this is the chain issue, or poor management not the staff. Unsure if we will go back or I would recommend to friends. Staff did their best with what they had. First visit 5 stars & this one 3.

Bahia Principe Escape Runaway Bay: A few challenges with resort
Al La Carte booking system - when we arrived on Nov 29th we were told we couldn't book Dec 3-9 dinners until around 230pm Dec 2nd. At around 930pm Dec 1st we just happened to go on site and reservation system was open. Luckily we booked our restaurants because by 10am Dec 2nd all reservations were gone.
