Riu Dunamar: Amazing resort!!!!

We loved this hotel. It is newer and very clean. All the staff are very nice. The rooms were beautiful and cold. The food was amazing and the a la carte restaurants were all good. The beach was the softest I have ever seen with lots of shade and sun. The pools were fun and the entertainment games were different each day. The night entertainment was the best I have ever seen ( you have to go just for the RIU party - OMG ). The waterslides were a nice change for something different. Haven Riviera Cancun: PHENOMENAL

Excellent customer service everywhere in the resort, nice and modern rooms, cleaning service was perfect. Food was good but can be better, the variety of food in buffet can be increased. The round pool was the best pool we ever had in any resorts before. Overall experience was perfect.

Riu Latino: Beautiful Ocean

Best part was the ocean! Ocean was clean. Minimal to no seaweed made for lots of swimming! Long shoreline in either direction was ideal for long walks. Pools were nice and but only swam in 3/5. Water slides were a blast!

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Wonderful resort and amazing experience

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres is a great resort. Super clean, food is great, service is very professional, the entertainment activities are constant and the staff is excellent, beach and pools are amazing. I had a great experience at this resort and definitely will come back

Riu Dunamar: Fantastic resort

Just returned, this resort is fabulous. Food was delicious, service excellent, the resort itself is very well taken care of and clean. The beach is beautiful. We did not spend any time at the pools so I can't speak for them. I would definitely go back at the same time, the resort was not busy and was mostly families.

Riu Dunamar: Completely dissatisfied

Hello, I’d like to start off by saying that this is not my first time at a Riu, nor my first time in Mexico, nor my first all inclusive vacation. I travel frequently, within Canada , the U.S, Europe and Caribbean. This was by far the worst vacation I have ever taken. I’m only going to list the cons, as these are the basis for my overall complaint: 1. No bar down by the beach (there are servers who come, but it’s a far walk for them & a lot of beach to cover) 2. Our water in  [... read more]our room was not stocked & we had to ask multiple times for someone to re-stock; people should have water each& every day during their stay. 3. Liquor across the resort was Bottom shelf swill that was disgusting . 4. No room service, which is very frustrating if you are not well & can't make it out of your room. 5. 24 hour snack bar is laughable - microwave hamburgers, soggy hot dogs & stale nachos hardly qualify for something worthy of a snack bar. 6. There was poo floating in the water on the beach everyday. I have yet to ever see this anywhere but at the Riu Dunamar. 7. The beds were incredibly small; looked and felt smaller than a double bed, but larger than a twin , but either way, was uncomfortable for my husband and I to share . 8. Thé A/C must be set on an energy savings plan, as the setting could not be changed & the a/c temp was less than satisfactory. 9. The staff do not speak English (the front desk is fairly fluent). Used google translate to communicate most of the time. 10. A buffet server told my husband & I that we could not eat our plates of food we already had in our hands due to closing (there were ppl eating at tables still). She used her cleaning cloth to push the placemat and utensils on the ground, followed by her walking away. INCREDIBLY RUDE behaviour never seen anywhere other than at the Riu Dunamar. 11. My Sons things were stolen from his room, an investigation was done and the cleaner advised she thought they were garbage and threw them out. They wanted to reimburse us for some of it but also have us sign something - no thanks! Tell your staff not to steal, discipline them for it, perhaps screen them properly and not take anyone off the street . Again, I have yet to experience this anywhere except for at the Riu dunamar. 12. My entire family of 8 had stomach & bathroom issues related to the food / drink despite taking dukorol. 13. Thé entertainment is amateur, geared to kids & unworthy of attention. That’s the one thing I look forward to on vacation; I was bummed & underwhelmed. 14. At a family resort, they have adult only pools (swim up bar pools). My daughter who is 14 was the only one of our family members who was not allowed in this pool. We were approached by security and she was asked to get out of the pool. She was incredibly sad and cried over the securitys agressive and uncalled for tone / behaviour. there was a blow out over this between me, my son and the security. I still can’t understand the reason for this policy seeing as the bars all over the resort at ANY time of night were allowing young children to occupy bar stools (entertainment bar, and sports bar). Not to mention other resorts allow kids in the swim up bar pool. Again, something not experienced any where other than at the Riu dunamar. 15. The a la cartes were awful , usually these are the better choices and quality of foods at a resort. That was disappointing. 16. The elevators were small and not air conditioned. 17. The front desk wasn’t informative when we checked in and we had to ask multiple questions throughout the stay. Also blindsided by the tax amount upon check in.. they would only accept pesos and it was more than told by our agent. 18. They had no coffee bar, which was disappointing. 19. There were army men / police officers walking the beach armed. This was scary & prompted me to google the resort … which led me to read about a shooting on the beach at the resort. 20. No umbrellas at the beach. I’m fair skinned and need some relief from the sun. 21. My parents room had a awful smell of musty old water or mould. 22. The pools closed at 7, and not allowed in after this. 23. There was no lighting down at the beach at night, so you couldn’t enjoy a late night dip or walk on the beach. 24. The resort was boring to say the least. Overall, I had the worst time away at an all inclusive here. There are fundamentals that I expect from a self proclaimed 5* resort were not met. I think that resorts like this need to be mindful in brand integrity as I do expect a certain base minimum for a Riu. I encourage management to review the feedback I’ve seen on many reviews similar to mine and make changes. Surely the ratings equate to a 3 star resort - truly disappointing to have spent a total of $11,440 cad to celebrate a 65th birthday with my mom here; waste of my family’s vacation time and money.

Oleo Cancun Playa: Good, comfortable resort

PROS: Liked the attitude of people running the place. Everyone, from reception to housekeeping, were very accommodating, very polite and did their best to try to make you comfortable. The grounds appeared to be well taken care of. Not too much lush but plenty to make view pretty. I noticed constant attention to details for hotel upkeep ( cleaning, ornamenting, repainting, etc.) Rooms were comfortable and clean though, some of them, like our first room (we were given new one later) needed  [... read more]some new furniture pieces, such as the sofa couch which looked so old, it appeared dirty and overused. Also, and as it is expected due to most usage, the washrooms on both rooms we were in had some faulty issues such as leakage or doors not closing properly. The decor of the rooms was practical, to the point, clean-looking and thus, pretty. Some rooms have stunning view of either the ocean or the lagoon, especially if you are given room above 2nd or 3rd floors. We had an issue with an elevator which was immediately taken care of and the hotel staff tried in all ways possible to compensate for such issue. They were very responsive and attentive to our needs. The food was superb! The dining space always looked impeccable and tidy. The attention, very good. Never upset stomach issues like in our previous stays in different huge 5 star hotels in that same area. It would appear that the fact Oleo is a much smaller site, its staff do actually invest more time in looking after their guests as best as possible. Issues or concerns brought up by guests are, therefore, taken and corrected in a timely fashion. CONS: Travelers are already EXHAUSTED by the time they get to Oleo Reception, yet, they are made to go through x2 or x3 different people right at Reception and spend 40 minutes or more of questioning guests to the point of making them regret their decision to be there in the first place. The idea is to push you to attend a breakfast session to listen to what is no longer called SHARES, but something else, advising you it's not the same but,....it is. Most people will agree to go to these types of sessions as they also promote a discount on area tours such as the cenotes, Xcaret, etc. BTW, this is not specific or exclusive of Oleo Resort. Mexico is known for these type of vacation sales promotions. Tours are much more expensive than previous to the pandemic if you want to get them at the hotel.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Amazing resort !

The resort is very clean, the people are very nice. The food is nice, no complaint. The activities on site are very nice too. It’s a very nice place if you want to disconnect. There is one big buffet and 5 other restaurants that are very nice except the n italian one

Riu Latino: Not a 5 star hotel

This hotel is new and therefore very clean. The night shows are mediocre and sometimes no show whatsoever. The food is same for lunch and dinner . There is nothing to do in the evenings. The beach is far from the hotel and the path to the beach should be much longer.

Riu Dunamar: Awesome Resort

We were there last aug 19-26 2023 and it was a memorable experience. The hotel overall was very good the food was great , I can see that they try to do their best to give people a good food everyday diff. Menu as much as they can!the room was clean and tidy, you will not give the benefit of doubt in giving tips to the cleaner, because they do their job very well, love to swim everyday and sit down on the seashore, satisfy how they clean the seashore even though their is a little bit of sea wids  [... read more] but over all it’s all clean, the snack was great , the bar tender was friendly you will not wait long time for your request they do their job well, our kids was satisfy and happy with Riu Land the sliding pool is amazing, and the staff was friendly, the only thing I was looking for was the live show at night hope they will change not always singing dancing it was boring, we are looking for some acrobat show live,

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: The worst resort ever

First day the flight was day delayed x 12 hrs 2- thé room was not cleaned x 2 days out of 6 we had to call them after 8 pm to get towel and clean the room 3- some of waiters in the resort were very rude and snapping when u ask for table 4 -it rained 2-3 days never moved the water and my wife slipped and fell down injured her R hand and wrist

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres: Great Resort, Amazing staff!

Everything was amazing at the resort minus the last day when I was leaving. I was five Minutes late which was my fault to meet my bus transport to the airport and when I came downstairs no one informed me who the bus driver was. I was outside next to the driver and he wouldn’t even speak with me. He ignored Me and took some pictures and left. This made me very upset. Anyway I asked the bell boy to arrange private transportation and the transportation cost me $147 US dollars. Unbeknownst to t [... read more]hem, I saw the driver give money To the bellboy for a referral I guess that I technically paid for. It’s really unprofessional to trust a high end resort to arrange something for you and you become a victim of this scheme. Anyway the fault was Mine but to top it all off, the nexus transportation company when contacted said the driver was late picking us up about 15 minutes. When I advised the lady that driver came and left “no show up notice” she was shocked and told me that the driver has to contact them for no shows but he never did. She even tried to get me to triple check to see if my info was on the “no show notice” because she was shocked about this situation. Anyway it left a really bad taste with me and made me feel the whole thing was a setup.

Riu Dunamar: Decent Resort

Nice property, nice rooms, great entertainment, but poor quality food for a Riu resort. The A La Carte restaurants are actually just buffets with lower quality food than the main buffet. The hotel staff are polite and friendly.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: was alright, was not my favorite vacation spot

friendly staff, hotel entertainment is not great. There is a good amount of restaurants and pools however pools are all very small and very close together so the hotel feels small. family oriented so don't expect a party.

Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton: Amazing Resort

I took my family to this resort based on recent experiences another family member had and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere was lovely and incredible. The staff were very helpful. The overall experience of the resort was excellent. I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for an all inclusive experience.

Haven Riviera Cancun: Book now !!

We cannot say enough about how great this resort was. Everything from the grounds, the rooms, restaurants, main areas were exceptionally well kept and gorgeous. I usually don’t prefer to stay at all inclusives because I get a bit bored of the food, drinks. This resort was top notch, most of the time it felt like dining with craft cocktails. The nightly entertainment included trapeze acts and incredible talent you would actually PAY money to go see. It was an exceptional time. I can’t say enough good things. Yes there is a seaweed problem in Mexico, this is not their fault. They work day and night to maintain what is in their control. The hotel was great. I found it to be very well kept, The staff worked day and night and provided great and friendly service. My family and I had and excellent experience. I would definitely recommend!

Riu Latino: Very clean and modern design, more of a party vibe, food a bit lacking

Beach/Pools Seaweed was cleared everyday. I was able to go to the beach everyday, but expect there to be a yellow flag. There was a bit of seaweed in the water but nothing crazy. Chairs have to be reserved early in order to get shade. Standard Riu pools, activity pool, two bar pools, quiet pool, and water park. Spent most of my time at one of the bar pools, good shade during the day. Quiet pool was relatively respected although expect some yelling from the adjacent water slide park.  [... read more] Service I had no issues with any of the people that I interacted with. Check-in was relatively quick ~30 minutes from arrival. Bellboy promptly brought our luggage up to the room and we got right into relaxing within an hour of arrival. Ozuna was our main bartender at the pool bar and made a custom drink for us which ended up being our favourite for the trip. Elizabeth at the Velvet lobby bar was great and made okay cocktails, don't expect anything fancy here. The entertainment team was engaging but respective of your space. Food This is where I believe this resort lacks. There is a great selection but the actual quality of the food is not the best, specifically the meats. I regularly had meat dishes which were terrible cuts of meat or mostly fat. I experienced this the most at the steakhouse which was a joke at best. The steak was half fat and they only gave me a measly 3 ribs which I later found in the buffet. I didn't have much fish but the fish I had was good. My ranking for the restaurants is the following: 1. Milan 2. Kulinarium 3. Moctezuma (Buffet) 4. Geisha (Close tie with Buffet) 5. Pepe's Snack Bar 6. Steakhouse (VERY BOTTOM) Rooms Very modern design, looks amazing for the price you pay. Room was regularly cleaned and minifridge was regularly stocked. Some of the towels I received had some stains on them. I don't think I ever got a proper sleep, beds were subpar, and pillows had no fluff to them. You need to grab extra pillows from the closet in order to get somewhat comfortable. Value I paid roughly $1600/pp for 7 days in mid-July for a Partial Oceanview Room (was facing Isla Mujeres). I believe this was average and nothing special. I am open to trying something else the next time I come to Mexico. I believe this would be better suited for large groups of friends or family to party at. Location It took us about an hour to get to our hotel from the airport and we were the first stop. I only went offsite once for an excursion to Isla Mujeres which was a good time albeit a bit rushed. Booking through our Sunwing agent was around $85/pp to go and they took you to snorkel at the underwater museum off the southern shore of the island, provided a mediocre lunch, and gave you around 2 hours free time on the northern part of the island (Playa Norte). Sunwing offers a free shopping trip to Cancun which we didn't use. Other notes This resort is new, looks amazing, and does indeed live up to the photos posted by management. This resort is definitely suited for a group looking to party. I still enjoyed myself and met a variety of people that were there to relax and party. The resort is relatively big and we had to plan trips back to our room to go for lunch if we were in the pool because you couldn't be in a wet swimsuit, this can be avoided if you bring a change of clothes to the pool.

Riu Latino: Great resort

This hotel was very clean, staff always cleaning public areas. Public washrooms ones of the cleanest I’ve seen on a resort. Pools were also very clean. Water slides were amazing, and so much fun. Beautiful beach, but the sand was very hot from the extremely hot weather. We spent a lot of time in the ocean, so refreshing. The bedrooms were very spacious and clean. By day three of complaining, they got it right.( this honestly is the only negative thing). Food was good, no one will ever go hungry, you will always find something you like. All staff were so friendly, but a lot of them didn’t not speak or understand English very well, but they still tried their best to communicate with you. Some even had google translate which was amazing. Oh, another negative was the Michael Jackson show. The worst show. I usually enjoy every Michael Jackson show, but this was terrible. Michael impersonator wore a black track pants with white stripe down side for the entire show. The only move he did well was the moon walk. All other shows were amazing. Manager at the swim up bar was amazing, he went above and beyond to make sure his guests were happy. Making special drinks was also a bonus. Night club needs to change up music, by playing a mixture of music and not just techno. Some Reggae or even salsa music would be nice.
