Grand Park Royal Cozumel: The trip was great

The food was really good, we were so pleased we booked at the Royal. The hotel was very clean and the staff very professional and friendly. We ate at the buffet every nite, great selection of food. The beach area very small, be love a beach, but we still enjoyed it. The shopping was great,both downtown and at the plaza near where the cruiseships stop. Lots of jewellery stores. Occidental Cozumel: Outstanding customer service all round!

The Occidental Grand in Cozumel was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful grounds, exemplary service ( from housekeeping to recreation to serving staff!) made our stay great. Overall the food was good. Rooms were clean and adequate - could be updated but certainly met our needs.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Great Vacation!

First of all I must thank Jenn Black from Trip Central for all her help!! She was bang on! This was a beautiful resort. Very helpful and pleasant staff, food was very good! The pool, beach area, grounds were just amazing! Too bad it couldn't be a non smoking resort! We will be back!! Oh and we got engaged while we were there!! SUPER VACATION!!

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Take the good with the bad!

The Good, *Hotel and grounds are well kept, truly beautiful. *Staff make the stay at this resort. The food was excellent, the fish was delicious. Try the Coconut Crusted Grouper in the Mexicana Restaurant . *My husbands luggage did not make it and the staff directed us where to go to purchase him personal items and clothes for the week. The Bad, *Rooms were comfortable, though requested a King size bed and was told they were only for the Royal Vacation Group. Ended up with 2 doubles for the first time at any resort, we have stayed in. They were as hard as rock and I have read this in reviews prior to our stay. Caused sore backs! * Requested an Ocean View at booking and was told that there were none available when we arrived. * Royal Vacation Group, aggressive. Sat through a long session of about 2.5 hours and told it would only be 1.5. * If you have a late flight, Nolitours/Airtransat told us there would be a complimentary room to freshen up for us and the front desk said no to other guests, though we were fortunate to have made friends during the week, that took care of us and our luggage until we departed to airport. * Ale carts booked the same day, line ups long, though I was always, one of the first in line and waited a good hour to book.

Allegro Cozumel: Not what it's made out to be

My husband and I stayed Jan 10-24. This hotel is a 3 star at best. It would be and awesome resort if the food was good. Yes there is always something to eat but I did't pay what I did to "try" and find something to eat every evening. Breakfast is ok, lunch was good but good luck with dinner. The oriental a la cart is amazing (so you know they can cook). The beach is great, rooms are clean and the pools are good. I will not return to this resort or Cozumel for the fact that wherever you go, even  [... read more]trips through the hotel, you have to take a taxi and pay out of your pocket. Taxi one way to town is $16-20. Ferry to the mainland is $12 each. For half the price, you can go to Puerto Plata in the Dominican and get a better resort, better food and AMAZING service.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: Excellent place to stay

Secrets Aura was a wonderful place to visit. Right from the start we were welcomed with friendly staff and the hospitality never stopped there.. They always had some kind of entertainment going on all day and into the night as well. The food was great in all of my stay I never had a bad meal . I would defiantly go back there again.. If anyone does visit this resort make sure that you get to meet Adrian he does a great job there making you feel welcome at all times.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Iberostar Cozumel is amazing

Staff is wonderful, Food excellent, the grounds, pool and beach outstanding. The rooms could use some upgrades but they already started to do that. We have been going there since 10 Years and that stands for itself.

Secrets Aura Cozumel: fantastic place

Occidental Cozumel: Nice grounds and beach but annoying sale pitch

The grounds are beautiful, the buildings are surrounded by lush greenery, but my room was on first floor, so the view outside my room was not "garden view", it was tall plants blocking any view. The beach and the pool area are nice, the working stuff including the diving shop personnel are friendly and helpful. The lunch and dinner buffet were kind of boring but omelettes were great at breakfast. We had no problem in booking a la carte restaurants for 3 evenings and the food there were a bit bet [... read more]ter. The thing I didn't like (hate): The stuff took us to a concierge after check in, it turned out it was a sale pitch to get you to go to the presentation for the Occidental vacation clubs. Every morning around 8:30 AM, a group of hotel stuff would stand at the pathway, trying to get you to go to the presentation plus other off site tours. They learned to leave you alone after 3 or 4 days. I definitely will try a different hotel next time.

Allegro Cozumel: Challenged Resort

The resort itself is very well maintained, the grounds are pretty to walk through. The pools are picturesque but the water levels are way below the pool skimmers which means the water is not being filtered. We heard about this on trip advisor so decided with heavy chorination and no filtering the pool should be avoided. The buffet restaurant was a hit and miss, the lack of any breakfast meats, ham, bacon or sausage was a big disappointment. Possibly because we arrived on New Years Eve, buffet was quickly depleted by sheer numbers at the resort, things seems to get much better through out the week. Service by restaurant staff usually good, excellent in the mornings. The pool buffet served up a much better spread but the lineups went out the door at noon every day. It was the only place to eat during the day. Really needed a separate nacho bar, pizza area etc to fit the needs of people wanting a quick bite, esp later at night. The bars were stocked usually by just one bartender for whole beach, again expect lineups. There seemed to be a lack of limes, cups etc so that was challenging. The beach was excellent, good swimming. Pier nice to walk out to. Vendors on beach were fun, not annoying, found some great buys. Gift shop lacked any snacks, alcohol or good supplies, internet very expensive and could be definitely overhauled. Disco alot of fun but sound system was pretty old. We opted out of nightly shows, pretty low grade unfortunately, I'm sure families enjoyed though. Likewise any pool activities were sparse and not well attended. there are no energetic pool staff teams to motivate people to do pool volleyball or salsa or zumba. The rooms are adequate but desperately need places other than an open closet to store clothing, hooks to hang up clothes etc. very ill equiped for travellers. Air conditioning works but you have to have on blast or turn off completely, no in-between. I liked the villa style of the rooms, and the walk to beach or main hall was short. Maid service was great. Brought lots of water on request. We were travelling with a group so fit our needs for this type of vacation, had it been just the 2 of us, we might have looked to upgrade to the other occidental. Great distance to airport and diving shops, there is one on beach dive shop but it is pricey, we opted for Papa Hogs in Cozumel, great prices and good instructors. Owners are ex pat Canadians, good to support them. Tours are very easy to access, excursion guys on site. There is one amazing restaurant/bar up the beach called Alberto's, don't miss the opportunity to eat there and dance.

Allegro Cozumel: still needs work

It slowly got better after hours of delay at the checkin. Pool's were leaking and not the cleanest. Food was not available outside the restricted buffet hours. Rooms were well cleaned by Alfredo :). Activities poorly run and hard to get information on.

Sunscape Sabor Cozumel: Ugh! Stank water in bathrooms and smell of sewer!

The best part of this resort was Maximilliano at the Seaside Grill. His service and personality are absolutely top notch!! Aside from his excellence the rooms are not as advertised. The room service was less than satisfactory. Towels were forgotten on several occasion. Bar fridge was not stocked unless complaints to front desk. This is not what I paid for.

Allegro Cozumel: Amazing beaches and sunsets.

The grounds were beautifully cared for and the beach and pool were spectacular. The rooms, food and shows need lots of improvements, this aspect of the holiday was a 3 star level. The beds were very firm.

Allegro Cozumel: Needs some improvement

Need to open another food & drink location at lunch. Long line up at snack bar and beach bar. Rooms need some TLC. Our ceiling in bathroom leaked a lot of water but we switched rooms next day so that was appreciated. Friends room had broken toilet and shower handle but fixed quickly. Food in buffet was picked over by 8pm. Need to replenish. Toilet & AC in disco broken. Always ran out of limes at bars. Concerned about water levels in pool. In the end, hotel was okay but needs simple improvements.

Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Beautiful view!

Small sand area, but great lounge platforms right up at the ocean. Great snorkling right off the sand. Amazing pool areas with lots of trees, but pools are not heated!! Cleanest all inclusive we have ever stayed at. Buffet okay. Restaurants both very good food and great service.

El Cozumeleno Beach: Different than other Resorts

There were many things that were unexpected on this trip. The unlimited free room service was awesome, I wish we knew about it from the beginning or we would have had breakfast everyday in our room. No fridge, coffee maker, or iron in the room. 2 room temperature bottles of water given everyday. Great view from the room. Pool was very cold; the ocean was warmer. Pool side service was amazing, they brought you drinks and food right to your chair. Snack bar was ok, it really only had nachos, hot d [... read more]ogs, lunch meat, and buns; sometimes chicken nuggets and only once did it have french fries. Beach restaurant at lunch was pretty good, the only thing was if you ordered off the menu it took forever. The dinner buffet wasn't very good at all. There is only one a la carte restaurant and sometimes it took a long time to get food and the menu wasn't the best. You have to line up by 8 am to get a reservation and most people were lined up by 7 am and waited around for an hour to reserve, one morning it was as early as 6:30 that people started to line up. We ordered room service a couple of times for dinner. New Years Eve was a real disappointment. They had a "party" set up in the banquet hall that had no windows to the outside an consisted of tables and chairs and a band. No fireworks, no champagne (unless you wanted to spend $35 for a $5 bottle or $150 for a better bottle). We ended up sitting on our balcony and watching the fireworks coming from the mainland. Last year we were at a resort on the mainland for New Years and it was an amazing party so we were really disappointed. Very relaxing, the usual activities throughout the day: volleyball, aqua aerobics, yoga, bingo, etc. The mini put was really good, well maintained and a challenge to play; hole 14 was out of service though. The beach has a lot of sea shells and sometimes glass, my husband cut his foot on a shell while playing volleyball and actually found glass in the court as well. The ocean was awesome. While you are swimming you will be swarmed by tons of fish, kids would love it (I loved it!). Sometimes there would be a strong smell of sulphur coming from next door which was unpleasant. We would probably go back to this resort, but not during New Years. Knowing what we know now, it would make the trip better the next time. Communication between guests and the resort was lacking, a lot of things would have been better had we known about them.

Zel Cozumel: Nice Resort

Spacious rooms and well-maintained hotel. Overall, the stay was comfortable and hotel staff are friendly. Beware of timeshare sold by some agents working at reception. Also free wifi is only available in the lobby and at a price of $10 USD at rooms. Food is generally okay and cocktails are free. I would recommend this hotel but will probably try another hotel like Cosmoleno hotel just 200 yards away from Melia.

Occidental Cozumel: A must see

This is the first resort I have gone to that I can actually say I enjoyed the food. The grounds were impeccable, plush greenery. The staff were always happy and greeted you with a smile. Highly recommended and will definitely visit again.

Allegro Cozumel: Resort that has no idea what it's doing.

We arrived on December 19th, which was supposed to be their Grand Re-opening after a fire months before. Let me list the positives first, there are not many. The resort is set up wonderfully for families with small children, lots of play areas and a splash park. The resort was clean and nice to walk around. Now the negatives. On our arrival only one restaurant was open, the buffet and two of the a la carte restaurants were not completed construction yet. Only the beach bar was open unless you w [... read more]anted to go into the one open restaurant to use that bar to get a drink. Late Day 2 they finally opened the Buffet restaurant and the sports bar in the main building. Day 3 they opened the Asian a la carte restaurant and Day 5 they opened the Italian restaurant. Bars: Sports bar only opened at 6pm, Swim up bar was never manned properly and was near impossible to get a drink. Beach bar was the only bar that you could get a drink at regularly and until about day 3 it did not have proper beer taps or equipment. Restaurants: Buffet: food was mediocre but always cold as they had no way of keeping it warm at all. They actually had a microwave on the counter which we had to use every meal we had there to heat our food. Asian: Food was terrible and again cold. If you were lucky enough to get a seat at the Tempenyaki grill then your food was hot and I am told it was good. Italian: Food was average and again not very hot Mexican: The food here was the best of the bunch but still not great. This was the restaurant they used for the entire resort to have lunch at. The Buffet and Mexican lunch restaurant were never able to keep enough food out for the guests and people were waiting in large lines for them to put out more food. Beds: They are in the process of putting new mattresses in some of the rooms but not all. All the bed frames are concrete slabs and they have put a mattress on top. We were unlucky enough to get a mattress that had to be at least 10 years old. It was the worst week of sleep on vacation I have ever had and my back is still soar a week later. Pools: They have several pools available however all were dirty and the water level in all of them was so low that it was below the jets that circulate the water. On our last day there they were continually bringing in water trucks and dumping the water into the one pool while we were swimming in it. Summary: This was by far the worst resort I have ever stayed in. I would not recommend it to anyone ever. Jay

Allegro Cozumel: amazing resort

probably best all inclusive resort we've ever stayed at ( and we've done many over the years). From Mimi and Ivan at the front desk check in to the open to the stars pizza and taco late nite restaurant upstairs with Francisco making the specialized coffee. Daytime activities with daily snorkeling from the beautiful beach, and Kayaks and sailing. The secondary highway for access to resorts only traffic was a walkers dream!!!
