Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Great central location

Location - excellent if you want to be in town! We were a short walk to the marina and Santa Cruz beach and shops and many restaurants. About a 15 minute walk into La Crucecita. Shuttle bus every half hour to take you to their beach club on Chahue beach, although it is walkable but about a 10 minute walk. We booked this hotel mostly for its central location. Felt very safe walking about in the area and in the hotel. Beaches - beach club is on Chahue beach - there was a red flag up the whole week [... read more] that we were there, but had no problem getting in and out of water. Not great for little kids or non-swimmers - steep sloped entrance and goes deep quick - so some undercurrent although there was a small beach on the eastern side of the beach that was much calmer but well away from the beach club. Santa Cruz beach and La Arrocito are much better for kids. La Entrega and La Arrocito are both great for snorkelling and a short cab ride away. Food - reasonable choice of local dishes, quality was good. Fruit juices seemed a little watered down. Great to have an egg and omelet station! Beer and wine was good. Cocktails and mixed drinks were lighter on the alcohol, but that was preferred by me. Coffee was good. Rooms - simple and clean. No conditioner supplied - bring your own if you use this. Soap and shampoo supplied. Room safe worked fine, but was on the smaller size - did not fit our laptops. Security lock on door. Staff was friendly and helpful and most spoke reasonable english. Pool area - clean and comfortable - plenty of chairs.

Secrets Huatulco: Wonderful 41 anniversary

Secrets Huatulco was one of our best all round get away. Staff wonderful, food very good, never a problem with service. Entertainment team always trying to get quests involved.Be prepared for extreme heat and bites, swimming in ocean difficult but pools fabulous. Villablanca Huatulco: Great Hotel

The hotel was very nicely situated and within walking distance to various shopping locations and restaurant's. The whole hotel is very well kept and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Sully in the dining room was very helpful and knowledgeable when asked for directions on getting around. We had chose the breakfast plan and it was very good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when I go back the next time.

Las Brisas Huatulco: ok but check your rooms for bed bugs

long ways to the beach for everyone not for people with walking impairment.beachs nice lobby bar nice . adult pool was just ok too close to kids pool. staff very nice except for some of the front end staff.had and not kidding bed bugs in our room had to move to another room. was nice they cleaned our clothes. I washed our luggage. superior room is the only way to go at this resort all others are not worth the money even on sale.

Secrets Huatulco: Wonderful Resort

Had an amazing Honeymoon at this resort! The food was the best I've ever had in Mexico and neither of us got sick. The sand was really hard to walk on so spent more time than I'd prefer at pool but the view was gorgeous. Great staff and a beautiful property.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Bad stay..... stay away from this hotel

Bed bugs.... that's all I have to say The hotel has dirty rooms.... we had to move rooms because of bed bugs and hundreds of bites all over our body. We couldn't go to the beach because of the bits.... it was embarrassing and on top of that... everything had to be cleaned even our luggage. Stay away.

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Amazing Resort!

Our 2nd time at Hotel Castillo - my husband & I loved it! Quaint & Cozy - not too busy so you can relax - lots of locals! Close to everything - Marina, Village, etc. $5 Taxi to Larger town - Shuttle to Beach Club always on time!!

Dreams Huatulco: Lovely Vacation

My husband and I travelled with our 15 year old daughter and 18 year old son, and found the hotel wonderful. We usually travel 4.5 to 5.0 star hotels in the Caribbean, and found that this was lovely, but not one of the best we have been to. Honestly thought for a Dreams property that some standards would be higher. The food was good, staff very pleasant, especially the staff serving drinks around the pool. Rooms were clean and we enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Town was quite small, but enjoyed our day out seeing the sites and eating locally, although kids would have preferred to stay at the hotel. Didn't get a chance to do tours or watersports as our daughter broke her ankle two weeks before we left :( Huatulco was a lovely change from Mayan Riviera/Cancun/Puerto Vallarta - stunning views.

Barcelo Huatulco: Beautiful Resort

The hotel was compact (great for mobility challanged), absolutely beautiful, clean, and welcoming. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great, particularily in the speciality restaurants. Area appeared safe, shops in hotel and across the road.

Dreams Huatulco: wonderful vacation

hotel was impeccably clean, very friendly staff, amazing views overlooking Tangoluka bay. You could not ask for better weather. It was sunny and hot every day. The resort is nicely situated on the calmer side of the bay, with a gentle breeze blowing most days. Food and beverages were top notch.

Secrets Huatulco: Secrets not so much anymore....

We stayed as a couple. We cannot complain about anything, Very romantic,loved all aspects of the resort from the room to the restaurants, Beach was awesome!! 97-99 degrees every day with 1 cloud and rain for an hour. Beach front service was incredible and everyone from staff to servers were very friendly and accommodating. Secrets Huatulco: Very nice pool staff, rude management.

I booked a two week stay oceanfront, didn't get it! They made a mistake with my room booking and the hotel told me it was my agents fault. They informed me there is only ocean view at the resort. I booked two beds got one. The lady was rude and told me just go to my room. They changed my room number twice before I even got my room key. I found the management staff unorganized and rude. I found the staff that did all the labour wonderful. The spa was great. Many restaurants to choose from, good f [... read more]ood too. Now pool chair hard to find and if you get one you won the lottery. Staff would look for 30 minutes and sometimes no luck. That was upsetting, on vacation in the heat but no lounge chair to lounge in. The weather was great. I even filled out a review to the resort and never got a reply to my concerns. I guess staying at a resort for two weeks doesn't rank a response. It has put secret's resorts off my list of go to resorts.

Las Brisas Huatulco: up bove expectations

A beautiful older resort. We enjoyed our stay very much, the grounds were beautiful and well maintained the rooms were spacious and very clean, The food was excellent with great variety, The staff was very attentive and helpful. All in All a great place for a vacation and you can't beat the price.

Secrets Huatulco: Amazing Resort

We traveled February 2014 with another couple, This is one of the nicest resorts they cannot do enough for you. Rooms, food, service all are excellent. We cannot wait to enjoy this hidden treasure again!

First impression was to compare with other dreams which was a mistake after changing room (we were on ground floor with people passing by) we were happy beach was nice. drinks too Dining was soso overall can't complain will try my other Dreams

Resort is nice rooms are ok. Beautiful views, seen whales from our room. Food and drinks where good. buffet seemed more cafeteria style, but good food. beaches excellent, fishing even better. Iguanas everywhere. Things are more money on resort so go to town its less then $5.00 for a taxi. Markets and stores have good prices and always willing to haggle. We travelled as a group of 4 in our late 30's early 40's and we will defently return. Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Warm and friendly

It is a lovely hotel with wonderful staff and an outstanding beach club! The rooms are clean and well maintained. Food is average only, but the pluses well outweigh this. It is such an outstanding area for cuisine and the restaurants are just a short taxi ride away and very reasonably priced. We felt very safe there

Camino Real Zaashila: Camino Real Zaashila - Beautiful

Everything about the Camino was great from the room to the food. Some tips for Huatulco. Money. Take pesos. Your best bet for tips, purchases, etc. Everything is priced in pesos and they deal in pesos. Right now, CDN and US are the same so no point in taking US accept for one reason. Tips. US $1 bills are easiest. Unless you get a lot of $10 pesos coins. CDN coins are useless there as their banks don't take them. Pesos dollar bills are 20 and up so unless you want to tip $2 each time, the US $1  [... read more]works.Tours. We did the Bay and Snorkel tour. Long day on the water looking at similar bays. Snorkeling was awesome (only one stop though). Perhaps just a snorkeling tour is best. Then we did the Croc and Turtles which we enjoyed. Full day 9 to 4. Only down side is 1.5 hour drive there and back. At least there was A/C Shopping. Right across from Dreams is a little strip mall with a few shops, restaurants, small hotels, etc. Prices there are same and better than in town. We walked there a few times. Very safe...no worries. actually no worries anywhere we went. We went into town $45 pesos one way so a $50 works for tipping. Drop off in the middle of market. Lots of shops, way more than I would have thought. Look for the orange walled market place...quite the surprise. Again, the items across from dreams are there but same or more, but way, way more stuff. Silver, shoes, etc.Have a great trip. No bugs and lots of heat!

Las Brisas Huatulco: Very relaxing

The location of this resort is perfect, a quick ride from the airport, removed from the main resort area (private beach so no beach pedlars) yet close enough to the resort area to walk. There are MANY stairs at this resort, which I personally loved as I could incorporate some fitness into my vacation. This is  [... read more]the first time we signed a bill every time we ate/drank ( like in a restaurant here)., even though you don't actually pay the bill, you just sign for it. The nice thing about that is it gave us a reference point of how much to tip. If we didn't have or didn't want to carry cash with us, we could add the tip onto the bill. At the end of our stay we simply paid up what ever extra we had signed for. The food was very good, we loved that you ordered from a menu for lunch/supper. The breakfast buffet is awesome, be sure to ask for bacon if you don't see any out. The coffee is served in coffee butlers that kept it piping hot! We just loved that we could order our lunch, snacks and eat right on the beach! Even with eating in the beach and pool area it was very clean. Beer was served in bottles, not plastic glasses. I recommend you go for a walk to the massage huts at the end of the public beach, if you walk it'll take about an hour, we took our time. For 300 peso's my husband and I could each get a 1 hour massage. It was lovely and a great way to get out of the sun for a bit. We walked one evening to Frank's for supper, that's a must. Again took us about an hour to walk there, it's a safe walk. We also went to Mama Norma's for Key Line Pie, but they were all out. We had banana cream instead and it was good. We were there the first week of April and it was very quiet both at our resort and in the resort district. Easter was the weekend after we left and it was getting very busy, so be aware of when Easter is if you go. All in all a great stay, we were looking for a quiet and relaxing get away and that is exactly what we got.

Barcelo Huatulco: Exactly what we were looking for.

The Barcelo was your average all-inclusive but the weather and the people are what you come for. The hotel is showing its age but if you want something newer book a club room as they have upgraded bathrooms. The food was good, lots of selection, and had no problems booking the al la cartes. The animation team wasn't as "active" as you see in most resorts but still a lot of fun. If you are looking for a laid back, quiet but fun place to enjoy the sun -- the Barcelo is for you.
