Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: BEAUTIFUL RESORT

The hotel and food was great except my husband getting food poisoning the day we were leaving from eating a pre-made mini sandwich at the buffet. Only took15 minutes and he was vomiting and diarrhea. Took 2 days to recover. Getting up at 5.30 am to get a chair in the shade was ridiculous. People would not sit in them all morning as they spent the morning at the beach. We were told the second day by a guest that if you want to secure a chair you pay the pool guys. He said thats just the  [... read more]way it is.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: good place to visit

The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. The pool and beach areas were terrific with plenty of sun loungers for all. I was disappointed with the lack of food variety on the buffets especially at lunch time. The ala carte restaurants were good. I would recommend the resort, but with a stipulation about the lack of variety for the food.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: WestJet trip to Eurostars Grand Cayacoa

It is a very old hotel while the entrance is majestic the rooms need some renovations. Their septic system is not quite functional had a wrenching odour for a few days. Toilet paper must be put in a garbage can and the tub/shower needs to be clean and modernized. The elevator was not functioning intermittently . Every floor should be numbered outside the elevator so we know which floor we are on, cant trust the elevator. The food was good but very repetitive, lots of pork. Gravy is not gluten fr [... read more]ee and few GF choices other than salads or fruit. You definitely have to have good Spanish as almost everywhere not much English or French spoken. Need to use you hands a lot. WestJet was yet another experience. Packed like sardines, toilets not functioning properly and the food sucks. Mostly senior citizens were on our flight couldn’t pass each other in the isles very cramped and no business class available.

Kudos to Daniel and Evelyn… as well as the staff at the lobby!! Room 512 cleaning staff gets best service kudos??. Despite an unwell night, enjoyed our time! Gracias Amigas!!

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Very Relaxing Resort

This is a very nice small resort. The beach was lovely for swimming with a gentle sloping sand bottom. The pool was cleaned daily and was refreshing. The grounds were lovely with flowering plants throughout and maintained regularly. There were 2 menu type restaurants which we did not attend as my husband is a picky eater; the buffet suited us better. Also there is a pergola with vines overhead with flowers, also nice to relax and chat. The entertainment was geared at getting guests involved, dancing or participating in some way. The rooms need some work. Our first room had 2 double beds so we requested a King room because we were there for our anniversary. Were were given a King room and everything was good except the sliding door onto the patio was very hard to open and close and the closet doors did not work. Some rooms have been updated as we could see new sliding doors have been installed. We were provided with 2 large bottles of water daily in our room and there was a small refrigerator. The staff were generally friendly but did not speak much English, I found my Spanish translation app helpful at times. Over all I would return to Vik Arena Blanca as we had a lovely relaxing time.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great getaway destination!

The Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana was a great destination for us! The grounds are very well kept, the food is amazing the staff are friendly and helpful, they even had Canadian Club whisky and clamato juice for cocktails! The spa was a great treat for us but the cost being in US dollars is not ideal for any Canadian!

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Nice resort

Hotel was dated but was clean, staff was friendly! Food was ok! A lot of stuff missing with the resort or have no access to which was disappointing! Room was clean but very loud, the resort doesn’t sleep! ( at least where we were) No beaches so if you’re going to relax in the sand! Not the resort you’re looking for!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville

We had a perfect 1 week stay at this resort and the only regret was that it wasn’t long enough! Clean rooms, friendly staff, great food and variety of food.Grounds are well cared for and areas (walkways etc) are washed down every night Waiting for shuttle to airport was a little scary. Needed to check out before check-out time to shuttle over to the Grand where you are transported to airport. Also prepare snack because restaurant at the grand is not open that early.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Marien hotel, Puerta Plata

Best nightly shows I’ve seen in a long time. Thank you to Ricky and the dancers. Ricky your special attention to my three year old niece made our stay extra special, Our room was very nice. The cleaning staff stocked our fridge and cleaned our room daily including fresh towels. The pool was spacious and there was lots of chairs for everyone. Bouganville is a lush and beautiful resort. But the best of the resort are the people! From the executives to the everyday staff…always helpful and genuinely interested in making our stay memorable. Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Not what expected

Great location Close to ocean, food average, rooms terrible, old run down and nothing worked. 2 little beers and 2 cokes in fridge, you had to pay if you wanted anymore. Spoke with front desk about plugged toilets, no water for 2 days, radio did not work, ceiling fan broke, needed to replace door key 3 times. Albania Casimir: is the hostess at the Quimera Restaurant. We always looked forward to our breakfast and lunches for she would always be there to greet us with her friendly smile and a warm “Hola mi amore”. She would always come over to our table to make sure we had everything we needed. Miguel Linares: Miguel always made time to come over to our table no matter how busy he was, he would come over to check in and make sure all was well. Gracias Miguel. Euris: Euris worked at the Quimera Restaurant and was a true gentleman. He always ensured that you were happy with your meal and if we needed anything. There are many reasons that make one want to keep returning to the same resort year after year however the above mentioned individuals are a “big” reason why my wife and I will definitely be returning next year to the Melia Punta Cana Wellness and Beach Resort. I had to ask for a manager in order to have it attended. 2. They tried to sell a membership into their resorts. Very heavy handed sales pitch 3. Lots of families (not what we were looking for) 4. No designated smoking section outside at pool and beach areas 5. Occasional loss of water in rooms 6. Although you have access to other affiliated resort the foot print of the main resort is relatively small in comparison to other resorts we've been in.

Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing Resort

Great resort with awesome food! We paid for privilege and were able to eat at an a la carte restaurant each night. Very clean rooms and grounds. The staff were amazing! Great beach and pool. Activities every night. It was so much fun.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Average at best !

We’ve been to Punta Cana well over a dozen times and this Resort is mediocre! The grounds are mature and lush due to its age but the resort itself is getting dated and worn. Only 2 a La cart restaurants to choose from and they do book up fast. The Buffet was good but not spectacular. Units are relatively clean and comfortable. Poolside and beach loungers are taken by 7am so reserve your spot asap every morning. Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Lovely relaxing Resort

Overall good. Liked the no plastic bottle policy. Great variety and lots of food at the buffet. Staff were friendly and helpful. Did not take in any shows at the theatre as started too late. Loved the airial displays watching the kite surfers.

Viva Miches by Wyndham: Overall a very clean, reasonably sized resort

We went down with my brother's family for a week, all teenaged kids. It was a pretty solid little resort. Pros: -Very walkable. You can walk from the furthest room to the beach or pool in 2 or 3 minutes -Clean and modern. The facilities are in pretty good shape -Friendly staff. I stayed in the DR a few years ago and the staff were dead eyed and miserable. They seem friendlier here -Food was good. We found the buffets and a-la-carte's to be sufficient. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Disappointed

For the amount of money my trip cost it truly was not worth it. I arrived Feb 6 approximately 6:30-7pm because my plane was late. The rooms are adequate nothing special. I thought my reservation was set as l am having trouble with my legs and requested 2nd floor facing pool, close to my son who was already there. As you know 2nd floor can be reached on ground level close to the front. I do not like to be on the ground floor by myself. I am 81 yrs old just to give you an idea. 1st room w [... read more]as deplorable and l refused it. The air did not work, the fridge didn't work and it smelled. They sent someone to check what rooms they had but he was gone half hour approx and when he came back had not checked for rooms. Not sure what he was doing. So then someone else checked and said only room was ground floor and now being late l just said okay l will stay here tonight but in the morning l would like to be on the 2nd floor. The tv did not work, the phone was dead. The lock on the patio was poor. So much of a ruckus at night 2;30-3 am. l blocked my patio door. They did fix the tv. But not the phone. I had to stay until Monday 9th because the resort was booked solid. Finally they offered me to look at two rooms one faced the back and l said no, the 2nd faced the pool. l changed rooms, tv did not work, phone not operable, no bureau. but it faced the pool and down the hall approx 8 rooms away from my son. They fixed the tv. There was a woman cleaning wanting to know if something wrong, told her no bureau but they had one in the other room l was offered. She called for someone who was not coming and so she grabbed the bureau and started to drag it down the hall at which point my son stepped in to help. The rooms like l say are adequate, but the drapes need replacing, hard to pull open or shut, the locks on patio doors need replacing, and the safe door need to be oiled as was hard to open and screeched. THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH LOUNGES. Several people including my son and myself looking for a lounge but all were taken every day. People claim them early in the morning by placing towels (this is normal in many resorts) but sometimes never used them til 2:30-3 pm. You need to look into this and have security remove towels if not used in apptox 2 hrs. I was at Casa Marina last year, loved it food was great lounges were available, rooms were in a bit better shape. so this year not so much. In the main buffet, Food was okay but nothing great. Boiled potatos, carrots daily almost cooked, meats were tough at times and by the time you carried your plate back to your table the food was cold. In the morning you get eggs and then get toast and sit down to eat COLD eggs. Same with the pancakes and french toast COLD.. the coffeE horrible very bitter and again not hot. Even hot milk contsiner was not hot. Did you get new chefs? The alacarte that served pizza, french fries and chicken etc at lunch were always hot. So started having lunch there. For the most part the staff is very friendly, the girls in the buffet are over worked with such high volume. Hard to keep up. Oh and can not speak english lol Valentine’s day the dinner was very well done. The people who work there do a good job, they try their best to please everyone. I watched how they worked. In the long run my stay was okay but not great. I doubt l will ever come back nor will l recommend Casa Marina. Last year l told everyone how wonderful it was. Not now. I am sorry but its the way l feel. Oh and Milton at the front taking all the complaints. I feel for him. He is pleasant and listens. Writes everything down. He needs a bonus!
