Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Lovely Resort

This was my fourth time to Cuba, have stayed at a different resort each time. The grounds at this resort are beautiful. Food was not as good as other resorts I have stayed. But I certainly did not go hungry, there was lots to choose from. Our room was not cleaned as it should have been. At other resorts we have stayed at in Cuba, our rooms were better cleaned. We were suppose to get water daily in our room, which we didn't. We had to ask for water. When we did ask, one of the employees told u [... read more]s we could buy water in the gift shop. One night at the romantic restaurant, I ordered a drink and the waitress did not bring it. When I asked for it again, she was very rude. Other than this one waitress, the rest of the staff was extremely friendly. Overall we had a wonderful week, beach is fantastic. I would stay at this resort again and would recommend it.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Relaxing friendly resort

Enjoyed the smaller size of this resort. The layout has the feel of a small Spanish village with small squares with fountains for sitting and enjoying a cold beer amidst the mature palm trees and Caribbean sun.

Grand Memories Varadero: Good resort

Grand Memories was nice, the staff (waiters, servers, maids, cleaners) tried very hard to make your stay an enjoyable one. Lots of assortment of food, different varieties and the a la cartes were very nice. I'd highlight the seafood and the Asian (Ging Seng), their beef tenderloin was superb!! Also, great beach, nice and relaxing but need to be up early before 7 to get a chair. And, recommend you go in style. we hired a car and driver, cheaper than the bus and the tour is tailored to what you want, we hire Elio Ramos, grandfather drove and grandson showed us the City. The woman at the a La carte booking can provide you the details. Downfalls, the washrooms, others said it but needed to see it. The washrooms in the restaurants and your rooms are great but not near the pools. Bring purell, wipes and toilet paper :( Also, checkout at airports. Not the problem of the resort but if you're flying Air Canada note that they had 1 check out where other providers had two or three, long wait to leave. overall, good price for a quick get away but realize that it's not a 5 star.

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort!

Excellent resort with great Ala Carts. Bungalow rooms are worth the upgrade. Service was good as there was always a waiter / waitress there to take drink orders... even at the busiest times they were very prompt. Entertainment was excellent as there was always something going on through the day and evening

Grand Memories Varadero: Too large resort huge line ups for buffet everyday

We upgraded room was really basic needstender loving care bed ok but covers need to be cleaned and blankets changed everytime the room changes over I hates the thought someone else has used the bedding so for this issue would not return just back on the 25 th March

Sol Palmeras: Very Central, Compact, Clean Resort

The Resort was very compact with 5 restaurants, very good food at each restaurant. Rooms clean, but if you request King bed you get 2twins pushed together. Our 1st room was on ground floor across from pool. They have a bar there that stays open till 12 midnight. 1st night they had a beach party that went around the pool a few times with a loud drum and crowd. She arranged to have us moved up to third floor which was sooo much better. So we would say, as long as you aren't near those doors or pool Bar it was fine for a quiet relaxing holiday.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Satisfactory

Overall, we were satisfied with the resort. It was located in a wonderful area, with a Marina right across the road which was open to the public and contained a bowling alley which I noticed many people with kids took advantage of, also a grocery store and many smaller boutiques. A great area for browsing if you wanted to leave the resort for a short time. The WiFi at the resort was sporadic so most people went over to the Marina to access their NET. There was a problem with their laundry,  [... read more]so there was a shortage of towels. We had to use the same beach towel the entire stay, and towels were changed in the room only once. Bathrooms were very outdated and worn. The beach was absolutely stunning and that is the main reason we went so it was a bonus. The only other issue was mosquitoes in the lobby. We were both badly bitten and are covered with spots. Someone on the plane on the way down told me it was their favorite resort, but mosquitoes could be a problem. Beautiful pools, food good - you can always find something to suit.

Playa Vista Azul: It's ok.

We flew Cubana air which was really cool on the way there. It is just like flying 20years ago. $3CAD a beer. And service was decent. Way home not so great 5 hour delay stuck in the airport with no apologies or reason why! Hotel is OK sixth trip to Cuba and it will probably be my last. Beach is not the best when the new hotel opens next door the beachs will be very crowded. Way too many people for the buffet and restaurants line ups were crazy. All the A La Cartes served the exact same food [... read more] as the buffet but on a plate. Of course not enough beach and pool chairs. Food was not good as per usual in Cuba. I did get sick for a few days and couldn't eat anything. Horrible stomach cramps. Beds really hard pillow just strange. All and all they do there best with what they have but the tourism has definitely went to their heads over the last 10 years. Cuba is for sure loosing its charm it used to have. They have become your typical pety scammers you get in every carribean country. He tips are never enough always wanting more. Then we have this CUC. That is the biggest scam they have. The exchange rate is more than the American dollar (around $1.47 for 1 CUC) when it is over 2 million Canadians that travel to Cuba per year. If you want to leave the resort for local things it is expensive. We didn't pay a lot for the trip so I guess you get what you pay for. I used to love Cuba. So I feel very sad that this has happened to the island.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Beautiful Resort

Amazing pools and grounds , beautiful lobby and common areas.Room was comfortable, bed was comfortable but the cot for my daughter to sleep on was too hard. She was able to sleep on the couch instead.Musical entertainment every night in various areas , piano , bands , saxophone player.Very nice .Beach is incredible!

Playa Vista Azul: Greatplace

It was a very nice and clean resort. The people were nice and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay and would go back.the rooms and the grounds were kept very clean, and the staff was very friendly and happy to help you.

Brisas Del Caribe: Excellent trip again!!!!

It was an excellent trip once again. The porter greeted us at the front desk and said to us....."Welcome home." Treated like loyalty. Everyday was a great day. Jorge the egg chef, dropped what he was doing and ran over to us. Full of excitement and smiles to see us. We loved this trip and hope to go back again in the fall.

Sol Varadero Beach: Sad

We have been going to this resort for a number of years and its sad to see it sliding down hill. The staff are amazing people and try their best to make your stay enjoyable. But it needs some attention. We love the area but will probably chose a different resort next year.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Amazing PEOPLE

Beautiful grounds and pool, the room was nicely renovated with a great shower and bath. Meals were fine and good selection. Our main complaint was the uncomfortable beds and pillows. One would expect at least newer beds and decent pillows in a Four Star Hotel even in CUBA. The staff were excellent and did their best to accommodate any problem. Judy at the Front Desk went out of her way to help us. Good Job and thank you.

Melia Marina Varadero: A good resort for the money.

We were on "the level" 6th floor where the service was first rate. We enjoyed all of the restaurants and buffet although we would have liked a bit more selection at the restaurants for those of us who don't eat seafood. There was a lot of lobster, shrimp and fish available more so than other resorts we have been, which most people would enjoy. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had a lovely view of not only the pool area but the ocean as well. The nightly entertainment seemed to be good although we only went once as it was outside by the marina and a bit cold for us to sit and watch. There is not much I didn't like about the resort, even the walk to the beach was enjoyable and we often caught a ride with the driver who went back and forth continuously. However, I will say that I was very disappointed that the best sitting areas to eat and relax outside with the best views over looking the marina were plagued with a continuous stream of smokers. Unfortunately the umbrellas meant for shade held in the stale smell of smoke so we were unable to enjoy the great view as much as we would have liked.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Resort!!!

I've been to Cuba 4 times before and this resort was by far the best resort I have ever stayed at!!! Our room was clean and looked updated! The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful! Can't wait to go back!

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing Resort

This was our first trip out of Canada. The resort was amazing. Just beautiful. The rooms were clean the staff was extremely friendly. The beach was awesome. The daytime and nighttime entertainment was phenomenal with the exception of one night. The food was great. The couple we were with have been to two other resorts in Cuba and they said by far this resort had the best food. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. I would rate the resort a 4.5 to a 5 star resort. It has just been renov [... read more]ated and some parts are still under renovations. Best first experience. Will be returning to this resort next year!!!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Nice resort

The staff were very good. Plenty to eat with lots of variety the beach was beautiful and properly staffed for chairs etc. As a musician I found it disappointing the piano was off limits our rooms were cleaned daily but having ocean front it's 3 storeys and we were on the 3 Rd with no elevators so would recommend close to the hotel if u need elevators

Muthu Playa Varadero: Rooms could be better

Overall the food, pool and beach areas, bars, restaurants, main lobby area are decent. Inside the hotel however, is pretty worn down and aged - bed sheets and towels are sometimes stained even after washing. Balcony doors and shower heads would be partially broken, and the key card to the room would stop working intermittently and would require replacement.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Excellent experience

The service was amazing and all staff we interacted with were so friendly and excellent at making you feel special. Our room had very minor issues, and the beach was clean and beautiful. Will go back again.

Roc Barlovento: Great resort

We had requested a quiet room with balcony with our travel agent. When we checked in were assigned room 2009. It was quiet but no balcony and was in the older section and to be honest it needed an update - old furniture, etc.and dark, which made it a little depressing. Went to front desk and requested a change, showed Sunwing magazine page that said we would be in a renovated room with a balcony or terrace. The front desk was very accommodating, we couldn't move that day but we could move to  [... read more]room 245 after 12:00 the next day. Very happy with the new room, not quite in the evening as it was overlooking the pool and stage area, but that was ok because we went to the evening shows. During the day we were at the beach, which is great. Lots of space and trees if you wanted shade.
