Palma Real: Location Location Location

Nice to see renovations. We stayed building 4 always had hot water. Elevator works. Location is everything. Buffet was repetitive but could always find something. Lots of nearby restaurants. Barbacoa was amazing. Beatles bar and Calle 62 a short walk to a great night. Get beach chairs early as there isnt many but never seemed to be a problem. Afternoon pool entertainment was great. Pool bar staff could smile a little more :)

Playa Vista Azul: Lovely resort

This is a lovely resort with a beautiful layout, clean and modern rooms, and friendly staff. The bigger beach is a bit of a walk and it would have been nice to have a snack bar there. There are a few small issues that need taking care of and this would make it much better. For example the coffee at the buffet in the morning was terrible, cold and undrinkable. Some more entertainment in the lobby area would have been nice as it was quite quiet. A sign, with info about the evening shows was n [... read more]owhere to be seen, so we didn't know what kind of entertainment was planned for that evening. The food was alright but I have eaten much better recently at the Pullman in Cayo Coco. This property is located on a cliff so the scenery is beautiful.

Barcelo Solymar: Enjoyable Stay! 4 Stars experience :)

This is our first time to Cuba. We enjoyed the weather, the beach and the overall environment of Solymar. Of course there are good and bad things about Solymar. The priviledge of accessing both Solymar and Arenas Blancas allowed us to try different restaurants and bars, and we got to walk around the nicely maintained gardens and grounds. On average, the food is ok, and we enjoyed the night shows (dancers are great!) However, the rooms are less than desirable which could be cleaned better. Al [... read more]so, we found that the servers at the buffets and other restaurants are not careful enough when cleaning up the tables and they dropped and broke glasses all the time... that is quite unacceptable as it is dangerous... (both servers and customers could be injured by broken glass pieces). It is highly recommended the servers be trained again so that they don't drop things easily... (It is quite unprofessional for a server to break or drop things when serving customers as it is part of their job to clean up the tables properly..) Also, it's kind of hard to connect to the Internet as Wifi is not very stable. Please improve this technology issue... Apart from the negative things mentioned above, we truly enjoyed our stay in Cuba. Nothing can beat the warm weather and the gorgeous beach. (Beach could be cleaned better though). We also joined two days of tour. One is to Havana and the other one is a seatour with seafood/lobster lunch. Both are great trips! I will be back and I hope to see some improvements next time I come back.

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful resort!

The hotel was very beautiful and very well taken care of. I really enjoyed my stay and I would consider returning. The only issue I had was with housekeeping. They cleaned my room but it felt as if they only did the bare minimum.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia marina apartmento

It was a great experience amazing rooms and a great Resort. Warning to all of you who attempt to book melia marina apt European style (not all inclusive), it was extremely difficult for us to find any kind of produce to buy (fruits and vegetables). All supermarkets mini-marts and convenience stores in the resort area and outside the resort are very expensive and have no produce to offer. In fact it was more expensive than grocery shops in Toronto for example. To them anything from the Wes [... read more]t like canned food is a luxury which was very very bizarre to me. The quality of food in their grocery shops are extremely substandard. I recommend that you guys bring some kind of food along with you if you are going to book your vacation European style. Expect to pay tips everywhere you go. They are vicious when it comes to nickel and diming everyone. Be very careful and vigilant some cashiers might try to rob you. Count your money when they give you your change back. Moreover, bring along a roll of toilet paper, their restrooms outside the resort lack toilet paper. Believe it or not toilet paper is considered a luxury in their culture!!!!!! Very few can actually afford it. Don't forget your sunglasses and definitely sunblock lotions.

Hotel Los Cactus: hotel surevalué

La plage et la mer sont très bien. C'est calme et propre. Le site est beau. Les chambres sont simples et propres. Elles auraient besoin d'un profond rajeunissement. Le buffet est très très pauvre et "cheap" C'est du copier coller tous les jours. La soupe, le pain et le café le matin sont très bons. Les boissons, quelles qu'elles soient sont très très diluées. Même les boissons douces sont très diluées. Je ne recommande pas cet hôtel.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great resort!

Amazing beach and great people! Grounds are beautiful! Food was good...snack bar was excellent! Nightly shows were enjoyable! Excursions were a little expensive but were enjoyed by all. Would definitely recommend to a friend!

Melia Marina Varadero: Great vacation place

We stayed for a week with our teenage daughters and had a great family vacation. The resort is amazing and the staff were aweaome. They made everyone feel special. Everyone warned us about the food in Cuba but we were pleasantly suprised...eapecially the a la cart resturants.

Gran Caribe Playa Caleta: The resort is a little outdated. (Puntarina, although we had booked at the Playa Caleta)

The resort has some deficiencies: 1) The elevators are very slow and didn't work at all one day. 2) Not only are there no coffee makers in the room, there isn't even any coffee at the breakfast buffet. We had to go to the neighbouring resort to get coffee, but there was none in either hotel for two days. 3) The safes in the room are not safe. We heard of one couple who were at the beach and when they came back, the door to the safe was open and $500 had been stolen. When we were checking out, [... read more] we couldn't open our safe ... they gave us a new card at the reception, but it didn't work either. A worker had to come up and open it with some electronic device and she had difficulty. 4) Nice view on the ocean side. 5) The fitness centre was pretty bad. No air conditioning, the plug to the treadmill was broken, and the equipment was pretty outdated. I never saw anyone in there, which was not surprising. 6) The food was adequate, some items a little too salty and not hot enough; the omelet maker was great. 7) Lots of pool space and seating in the sun or shade. 8) The staff seemed very friendly. Maryna gave the cleaning lady some clothing, lipstick and money and she was extremely appreciative. 9) The entertainment was good.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort/fantastic service/I would return

This was our first trip to Cuba. The Royalton was a pleasant surprise after you hear so many poor things about Cuba. The service top notch. Everyone extremely pleasant and attentive. The food was much better than expected. The pool was chilly (not heated) and so in March, too cool for swimming.. although a few brave souls got in. Our room on the ground floor was large however there was a musty/damp smell which got better during our stay (or we got used to it). The shower/bathroom is in need of a [... read more] renovation. Rusty bath fittings. We purchased Diamond Club and would do it again in a flash. It's worth the extra. You get advance reservations for the a la carte restaurants and special seating on the beach with tons of umbrellas/covered sun beds.

Palma Real: good 3 star resort

as always i had agreat time staying at the palma real. the staff is always friendly and helpful the grounds are clean and the beach is amazing. food is average at best but who goes to cuba for the food. i wish they had new beds but this is cuba. all around it was a great experience.

Melia Marina Varadero: A Very Amazing Resort

Everything was clean and done with great precision. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. The food was terrific and always a lot available. the drinks were not watered down and were professionally made. No line ups to anything. The only other thing to say was the resort charged too much for cigars. The rooms were clean and great.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Gran Caribe Sun Beach

Problems with the elevators almost daily, staff not as friendly as they were last year as I think that they are low on staff and have to take care of the same amount of guests. Maids are fantastic, if don't like the food at the resort there are other places to get great food within walking distance. Some of the staff expect tips and will serve the guests that tip before you even though you were in line first. Very disappointed in some of the Canadians who go there treating the staff like they are at there beck and call, and throwing their garbage all over the resort and in the pools. French Canadians are very disrespectful as well!!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great time at the Grand Memories Sanctuary

My husband and I spent last week at the Grand Memories Santuary with another couple. I really enjoyed the resort. The food was good, the entertainement was excellent. Roxanna and the staff at the pool bar were also excellent. As was our butler Able who bent over backwards to help us get réservations at our favorite restaurants both on and off resort.. The Santuary part of our resort was definatly worth the extra money. I would definatly recommend this resort to anyone needing a affordable gettaway. This was our first time in a while staying in a 4*, and I barely noticed the difference from our usual 5*

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful, clean and exeletnt

Hotel looks exactly as it is on the pictures. Beautiful and big rooms, excellent pools, beautiful beach and very friendly staff. What else do you need on vacations? Food is ok, no bad for Cuba. I believe that everyone can find something to eat. We do not have such choices of different meal at home and we survive so if we go for vacation I do not care too much about it. Lots of guests but there is not enough stuff to clean and make everything fast. The best shows I have ever seen in the Caribbean country. The hotel is very close to Varadero, so you can spend evenings walking on the streets in real Cuba. Taxi costs 15 CUC, but bargain. We were going there as a group of 6(two 3-person families) and they once charged us 20. But there we bargain and had prices 10-13 CUC. Lots of small restaurants are open right now so you can try something outside the hotel. We took Havana tour but not from hotel. We rented Taxi Nacho Cuba and it was cheaper for our group. He was not from the hotel but I know you can find him on the TripAdvisor. He suggested what we should see and include our wishes as well. They took us to buy coffee and rum and the first time I bought something cheaper than it was in the store. I took some stuff to leave for the staff in the hotel and I am really glad I did. Lots of happened since I was in Varadero 10 years ago. You can see lots of new stores and so on but the prices there were not even for me. I will definitely come back there.

Playa Vista Azul: Beautiful Resort

We loved the beauty and cleanliness of the sprawling grounds, the majestic views, the pools, beaches, the friendly staff, the buffet dining room's food and the outstanding shows--the best we've ever seen! The à la carte restaurants, however, were disappointing (we didn't always get what was described on the menu i.e.: lettuce instead of spinach in the "canelloni", breaded chicken instead of roasted with garlic, mushrooms and olive oil, as was the morning coffee in the dining room...lukewarm, wa [... read more]tered-down and undrinkable. Thank goodness for Mike's coffee shop and the coffees served at the bar which were very good. Our room was fine but had a bad odor, at times, when the air conditionner was off. The pillows were not very comfortable and the shower either froze or scalded us. When calling the front desk for noise coming from the fan and to help with the shower, we got service immediately. Disappointedly we were not permitted to dine at restaurant Neptuno as we were not of the "privileged" group, and we had to pay for Wifi which didn't function or was down. All in all, a very trendy and enjoyable resort.

Hotel Los Cactus: Would go back for sure

Can't say anything bad about this place as long as you are ok with not always having the drinks you want! When they run out for the day you need to try something else. Nice grounds and great staff. First Cuba trip and was pleasantly surprised 😎

Very nice hotel. Amazing service. Pleasant to stay at. Very beautiful, perfect for families.very good shows every nights . Loads of activities. All in all the hotel is amazing Definitely recommended

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Good resort

Need to be careful of which room is being given. Some very moldy with wet mattress. Came when we mentioned air conditioner is siezing up. Very rusty carbage can in bathroom. No hooks for towels or face cloths, very dim lighting in bathroom ,drain in shower plugging. Things that could be improved upon very economically. Skeleton of frog in bathroom ceiling light. They did come immediately and removed it but didn't bother to clean light. Still bugs etc left behind. Silly! Mattress could be impr [... read more]ove upon. Husband felt springs. Bbqs at beach great. Restaurants OK. Bucannero was best. Grounds were very pretty. Pool very nice. Animation team great. Nightly Music was great in their square . Great drinks.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice resort.

Firstly, to all those who are looking, this is more of an elderly resort. If you are looking at parties and clubbing, memories maybe a better idea. The staff are really nice and helpful. And there are lots going on within the resort itself, shows, performances, diving courses, and etc. The distance to beach is literally 5 mins walk from the lobby. Food maybe a bit disappointing, but the mirana at the royal service is superb. In all, it's really amazing.
