Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Very nice resort

We really enjoyed our stay at Naviti! We couldn't believe how quiet it was. I'm thinking not too many people know about it because the price was right for what we had. We stayed in beachclub with an ocean view room. Never had an issue with hot water except for the first day. But we weren't told that some rooms, you had to insert your key card in a slot as you walk in the door and leave it there as it controls your electrical including hot water. If you've been to Cuba before, the food is okay.  [... read more]We get sick of buffet food and there was supposed to be 4 a la carte restaurants but because there were so few people, only 1 restaurant opened. The 2 times we reserved, the theme was Cuban. Not that great! We ended going to Varadero and went to a restaurant in the park. It is called LaGrotta or the Cave of Wines. That was awesome!! We ended up going twice. The filet mignon was absolutely delicious!!! The others had lobster, they said it was the best they've ever had. We also went to the mall which is halfway between the hotel and Varadero, it's called Plaza America and on the upper level there is a pizza place. Absolutely fantastic pizza!!!!! We went another night but the oven was broken so they only had spaghetti dishes. It wasn't good, someone must have dropped a box of salt in it,, yuck!! Back to the resort,,,rooms are clean but once there, the maid does minimal. She makes the bed(sheets are changed only if you leave a note), you get fresh towels but she only rinsed our coffee mugs. When we first got there, there were 2 pouches of coffee which I recommend to use both otherwise it is weak with 1 pouch. But then the next day she left only 1 pouch. I recommend to bring notepad to leave messages for her. I would ask for 2 aguas and 2 cafes and she would leave it no problem! There is a mini fridge but it's not stocked. The beaches are awesome! The main beach by the main hotel seems to be the busiest. As you walk down the path, down the stairs, you'll get to the snack bar and a bar, there's another smaller beach, not busy. We would go around 10am and still get a palapa. Keep walking down the path, come around the corner and you'll be where the ocean view and garden view rooms are. There's a nice pool area with a swim up bar. If you go around the ocean view rooms facing the ocean, there's a set of stairs that bring you to the beach. It's so secluded. If you don't want any noise like music, talking, just peace and quiet then this is where you'd love to sit. And it's just a little walk to the pool bar to get a drink. Wifi is a hit and miss. But I would just go on to check if I had any messages from my kids. The last day we were there, it was not working at all. We were waiting for an hour and a half in lobby, would have been nice to play a game or two. There is another area to purchase an internet card. It's by the Mojito bar. There's a few buildings, it's the middle one, there's a sign on the door, its Concierge room and you can even go online there, you don't need to go back to the hotel lobby. br /> All in all, I recommend this hotel, very nice and staff are nice. If you're looking to party then I don't recommend, like I said it was very quiet, which is what we loved!!

Grand Memories Varadero: Awesome Trip

Just returned from Grand Memories, Varadero, week of March 6 2017. Been to Cuba many times so I know what to expect. This resort was very nice but it was way too big for my liking. You almost need shuttle service to get around and yes sometimes we'd hail down the help to shuttle us around. Our unit was at least a 20 minute walk to the beach so if you like the beach I would recommend upgrading to a unit that is much closer. We were in block 15 and the rooms were very nice for Cuba standard.  [... read more] Clean, hot water, nothing was broken....we were quite comfortable. The shows were good, food was what I expected but I don't travel to Cuba for the food so I wont be one of those who complains. The only pitfall for me was the beach and location. I've been to Cuba many times and I usually stay at the top end of the strip closer to downtown as I like to go off the resort at night. Grand Memories is at least 20 minutes to downtown which would have been fine except the beach was much smaller than I was use to compared to the top end. It had no depth so everyone was crowded together and due to the size of the resort there were a lot of people. Not kidding when they say reserve your chairs early. Usually I would stay at the Barceló Solymar and Grand Memories would be a slight upgrade due to size, # of pools. I only chose this resort as a friend insisted on the swim up pool bar which they had in every pool. If distance and size of beach are not important then yes I would recommend this resort.

Starfish Jibacoa: Beautiful quiet gem

The staff are excellent. They go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They always have a smile rather they are waiting on you or not. Rooms are always clean. Food could be better but I don't go for the food.

Club Kawama: Good for the cheap price

Me, my husband and 7 month old baby visited Kawama last week. We were happy our room was close to everything since we have a baby but my moms and others were far away from the lobby, pool, main buffet...it's a pretty big resort. Everything was ok but there was no kid pool with warm water, no pool bar, not enough service (waitresses/waiters), not enough activities organized throughout the day. ONly one snack bar and beer stand....always waiting in line. THe night entertainment was great and food  [... read more]was really good as well. THe beach was really nice and we were the closest hotel to town and always first and last to get picked up/dropped off.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Good value for your money

The hotel has been run down since our last stay. The staff are quite friendly with the exception of one lady at the front desk. The entertainment was just mediocre and daily activities could use some work. The buffet always had something that was good and the chef that cooked breakfast and lunch was great. Overall we would stay again as we go for the sun and ocean.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Wonderful as always

This hotel although older (some renovated rooms) is very clean, the grounds are beautiful and the staff very helpful and courteous. I've been staying at this hotel for many years and there a multitude of reasons I keep going back. I have often traveled there as a solo female traveler and have always felt safe and due to its smaller size meet many people.

Club Tropical: Love this resort!!!

This resort was by far one of the most convenient and great hotel with great staff. Madeleine, Peno, Andy, and Randy were by far the best workers we met. Madeleine and Peno worked the lobby bar, Andy worked in the buffet and Randy was the MC for the entertainment. They all looked after us and made sure we had a great stay. The big market was two blocks away, along with a Chinese restaurant Lai Lai and a steak house El Toro. Both restaurants had great food if you missed the buffet. There is also a small cafe right across the street that sold delicious subs and pizza. We didn't have to walk more than four blocks for different markets or to buy phone cards. We didn't care for WiFi but we heard you can get it from Sun Beach that was two blocks away. If I could have stayed longer, I would. And I can't forget about our room cleaning service, I forget the ladies name but she was so awesome, we always went back to a clean room and full of clean towels.

Melia Marina Varadero: Wonderful Resort

Friendly staff, clean, well kept grounds. The A la carte meals were well done. The buffet was not horrible (but as usual it's cafeteria style so don't be a picky/entitled tool expecting Gordon Ramsay made meals every night). Easy to get around and great beach with a few small reefs and areas to see tropical fish while snorkeling if it's calm enough winds. Nice gyms and a cool spa (Added cost for the spa even with all inclusive). Overall, I'm not a picky person, so it takes a lot for me to ha [... read more]te any experience like this. I would visit this resort again.

Muthu Playa Varadero: A good resort

Best things include the beautiful beach where you can take long walks in both directions. The food was so-so as expected. The room was comfortable and clean. We were lucky to get an oceanview on the third floor where we watched amazing sunsets. The Coffee Bar was open all day and a great place to start your day. The internet was available in the lobby at 1.5 convertible pesos for one hour. It is very slow and sometimes stops working for a while. Make sure you use up the full hour at the [... read more] same time as you lose any remaining time for future use. The bar drinks are not the best quality but the beer is good and plentiful. It is better to buy or bring your favorite premium drinks and buy your imported mix such as real Coca Cola at the gift shop on site. A bit expensive but adds to your holiday enjoyment. This is a very nice older resort !!

everything was good excpet we need paid a room from our poket when we paid for 8 days and we got 7 but he still we talk ride away to the people that was a nice place and i don;t understand was he was rate just a two and half

I realy like this place it's a shame it's not promote a bit more the room was ok and the food was excellent the beach was realy nice but what I did not like I paid for 8 days but the 7days they take the room back and I need paid for an other room if we did not want stay up for more of 12 hours but wasn;t the site fault was the agent of voyage who did not do there job right

Melia Las Americas: OUR SECOND STAY AT MELIA LAS AMERICAS IN VARADERO

We stayed at Melia las Americas last December and we were so impressed that we decided go back on Feb 26 for 2 weeks. It was nice to meet again our favorite: the professional pianist Lilia, in the lobby most of the evenings. We bough her CD last time that we played at home, and it was a real pleasure to share her wonderful artistry. The operatic singers “ A Tempo Classico “, singing in the lobby were again outstanding. We had a Non smoking bungalow close to the pool and beach. and  [... read more] were surprised to find a big ashtray in the living room. We believe that all the rooms should be Non smoking. We found the beds to be very hard, even with additional toppers that the hotel provided. The lower of the 2 Bungalows swimming pools is very slippery and does not have a hand rail. During the 4 days of high waves, the tombonas /beach beds were removed from the lower beach area and never put back when the weather got nicer. We had to carry one down to the beach ourselves as we could never see any staff looking after them. Next beach at Melia Varadero, many tombonas were available on both levels of the beach.. Our favorite singers at the bar La Cascada were Bianka and Giancarlo . We were dancing 4 times a week while they were singing a great variety of songs. The other nights 2 different groups were singing at La Cascada, both with extremely, extremely loud music that made us leave the room immediately. We even asked Las Esmeraldas group to lower the sound on 2 different evenings but they ignored us and we left. We had dinner at the International restaurant Arcada. The quartet played remarkably well. The person who seated us was arrogant, which diminished our enjoyment. We had wonderful waiters at the Buffet restaurant, in order of excellence : Katy, Emilito, Valdin, Mercy, Marlon, Betty (Beatriz), Dany, Sussi, Maybeline L, Aurorita. The food was good to very good in the evenings. Our friendly chambermaid, Yalamara, kept our bungalow spotless. Just outside the lobby, there is a smoking seating area with tables and chairs with the most magnificent view of the beach, garden, etc. Being allergic to second hand smoke, we did not have the pleasure to enjoy it. The general manager, Bernard is very friendly and was greeting and talking to most of the guests. Melia las Americas is a beautiful resort. It has a breathtaking golf course. We do not golf, but enjoyed walking around it. We enjoyed the nice weather, swimming in the ocean and in the pool. Most of the staff are friendly. The gym is well equipped. By the way, we did not encounter any mosquitoes. Yes, we will return.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good trip

Good location nice resort , food was good but items where missing in snack bar good service !the room could be updated but still nice all and all nice resort good time ! The hotel is situated at the marina good witch make for a nice view

The hotel is nice right on the marina,the pool is nice and nice beach,good service at the bar . The buffet was good, you can alway find something to eat . The little snack bar where missing item often !

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing stay

I have been to cuba many times...first time to cayo santa maria...iberostar ensanachos...this is 5 star or 4.5 in my opinion....out of all of our trips..this trip was the best... service is the best...food was amazing 6 days we had lobster in 3 restaurents, punta del pirata was awesome...lobster there, and then in italian again lobster then in cuba also lobster....and then we were given lobster in the buffet also great food....ensanachos beach was the best....we went to once the megano beach whi [... read more]ch was closer....but ensanachos beach was amazing though its far...you have cart access to beach. staff were amazing.....the animation was great..the director for animation show was friendly and caring...he speaks like british..lovely staff everywhere.....beach pool staff...staff at gym was...staff at spa....reception yaniche she was always there when my card reader for room has problem...they took care of us....maid in room anita was great....cleaning the room every single day....beer and water packed daily....buffet staff....cook usbaldo was fun and hard working....ensanachos beach staff yichel...beach pool staff yunior everyone is fun loving....our kids had great time in water park....it was our best stay....except the first day of rain....weather was good....water was a bit cold...because in march this is expected.....all in all it was a great stay....beach is best part of it....i would definitely go back

Hotel Los Cactus: Awesome beach resort!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Los Cactus. The grounds are well kept & clean and the beach is spectacular! There were always plenty of choices of places to sit by the pool & on the beach. The food was good- better than our previous 2 visits to other Cuban resorts. We especially enjoyed the Coffee Bar! The only downside was our room for the first 2 nights was in the junior garden suites which had a musty smell & was in the same building as the disco which meant loud music until 1am. However, [... read more] we asked to be moved & with the help of our Transat rep we were moved to a different building to a very nice room. It's a small resort which was nice- it never felt crowded & the lines for the buffet weren't bad. We met many people who return to this resort yearly & I can understand why!

Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Paradise for us!

Where to start? Beautiful hotel, friendly staff throughout.. the beach was perfect with lots of lounge chairs and soft sand! Pool was enjoyable as well. Made use of the various bars and the food was great, something for everyone. The location is perfect to walk Varedero, and two awesome bars steps away from the hotel. We loved the Beatles Bar!! Great band and dancing!! We will definitely be returning to this resort!!!!!!!

Palma Real: Good resort for price

This resort is in a great location in varadero cuba. Buffet was good but no french fries. Some renovation to the room would be needed but the lobby and pool area were great. Overall it was a nice resort, the staff was very friendly.

Playa Caleta: A good week

My room was clean with a good view of the canal, pool music was a little loud but there was some fun games, the majority of the wait staff were polite and helpful, and the beach is beautiful... What more can you ask for?
