Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Ambar Blue

First I will get the negative out of the way. We stayed at this resort for two weeks We had visited it about 5 years ago. The biggest issue with this resort was the construction next door. On some nights they were pouring cement and making noise all night. Definitely would recommend a room away from the construction. We tried to move but could only get a room on the ground floor which we did not want. We gave up trying to move as everyone on the construction side was trying to move and we ac [... read more]tually felt sorry for the desk staff. The only other issue we had was exchanging beach towels. We would try 3-4 times a day and they were always out of towels. The rooms are nice and they are clean. What you would expect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Yes some couldn't speak much English but that is to be expected and they tried hard. We did not spend much time at the pool as the beach was awesome. You had to get up very early, before 6am if you wanted seats in the first two rows. There were lots of seats further back. We had no issues with the food. The buffet had lots of choices and most of the restaurants were very good. The only exception was the oriental one at the Ambar Green. It was to hot to enjoy the meal. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would consider returning in the future.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: So so resort

We stayed in the royal golden section the rooms were clean but dated there was not updated bar in frig as advertised. The staff were very polite and helpful. The grounds were well maintained. The resort was very big and very confusing to most people .all the different part of the resort were all intertwined. The pools were very well kept.long walk for breakfast always to main lobby. Food was abot 3.5 out 5 always find something to eat. Good starter resort for people

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Very good 4.5 star overall

Very good rooms in Ambur Green which is the 2 yr old section. Food was above avg. service at times was below avg but other times very good. Room cleaning was very good, mini bar service at times was lacking. Beach was very crowded and would be worse at peak season with 5000 rooms fully booked. A la carte dining reservations very difficult to get even with 60% occupancy which was the most disappointing, buffets were very good. Entertainment was actually very good for middle age and above

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Fabulous Resort

The grounds, rooms, pool and beach were amazing. Booking the restaurants was a nightmare. Most of the restaurants we couldn't get into which given that we paid for unlimited this was not acceptable but there were plenty of other options. I would suggest booking reservations prior to your departure as the main lobby staff are not helpful.

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Wonderful resort!

This resort is beautifully kept. The grounds are immaculate, pools spotless and common areas are all kept very clean. You will see all staff constantly working to maintain this high level of care. The rooms are lovely with a sitting area with a small table, desk and sofa. There is either a king four poster bed or to queen four poster beds. We were in a king the roo is spacious and very clean. Al a carte restaurnts that we dined in were all very good with good service. The buffett is excellent with lots of variety even for the picky eater. Overall we had a lovely stress free 2 week stay. Paradisus Punta Cana: Beautiful Grounds and Beach

Had a wonderful time at Paradisus Punta Cana the rooms were good, the beach was amazing lots of sun beds and shade. The food and drinks were also great at this resort, the grounds were beautiful as well ,always a good day when you can wake up in Paradise.

TRS Turquesa: Great vacation spot

We really enjoyed our vacation at Royal Suites. Lovely swim-up room was a special treat. Great staff and all facilities were first-rate. Part of a four resort grouping so lots of choice for restaurants and activities. Nice pools and beach. Highly recommend.

Occidental Caribe: Beautiful Beach no so beautiful service

Stayed at the Barcelo Bavaro Adults only, 2 months ago - service amazing. Occidental Trip - started off raining however weather got better and better as the week went on. Disappointed with the service most time had to wait for a drink even non alcoholic for more than 10 minutes. Omelette station at Buffett was crazy had to wait at least 10 sometimes 15 minutes before even ordering(throw in another cook if the line up is so long)

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Good Experience - Could Have Been A Lot Worse

Overall, the service was excellent. We loved all of the wait staff, bartenders, front desk, Diamond Club staff and butlers. On the negative side of things, there was a lot of rain which resulted in a loss of water, several rooms flooding and we were unable to use the pools. Parts of the ceiling in the main lobby was falling onto the floor and one of the main entrance swings fell down (or was removed) due to the weather conditions as it did not seem the ceiling was able to support it. I feel  [... read more]that during this difficult time, the staff could have communicated better with the customers and let us know when to expect these issues to have been resolved. Instead, we were the ones asking questions and essentially just dealing with the issues as they arose. The craftsmanship of the television stands, nightstands etc...was very poor. Even lying in bed, you could plainly see that the work was unfinished and many of these items were crooked. A panel was missing from our shower door, for which we were compensated with a "romantic dinner". We really enjoyed this experience and were happy with how the staff looked after us overall. However, I would not likely recommend this resort to friends or family due to the lack of communication we experienced and the issues that the hotel still has to work out.

Riu Republica: Outstanding Resort!

Having been to many all inclusive resorts this one was one of the best! Starting from friendly and helpful staff to the impeccably clean rooms and property to the buffet selection of foods and presentation to our check out. This hotel is a property we will definitely return to and recommend.

IFA Bavaro Village: Great Resort! (Good bang for your buck)

-Great resort, lots to do. -Construction is not disruptive -3 Restaurants you have to call in or wait in line to get into or your stuck going to the buffet. (Call in around 9 A.M -Food is good, but dont expect anything fancy, your going to Dominican for the weather/beaches. -Tip, tip, tip - gets you very far in this resort. -Pay for the renovated room, there closer to the guest services. -If your on the beach get ready to be bothered by vendors trying to sell you excursions (Never pay by  [... read more]credit card) -Don't read into other reviews when they say that the staff isn't friendly. They work long hours (probably over 14 hours a day. (A little side story - We noticed that one younger female worker was working at 8 A.M and noticed she was still working at 11 P.M, so be courteous of that, because a lot of them do work 15+ hour days.) -If they don't greet you with a smile, or aren't overly enthused with an English greeting, please realize that they work hard, they're probably exhausted. You may note that they'll be "rude" if you don't tip, but from their perspective, you have enough money to travel to an all inclusive, you can spare a dollar. And they do really appreciate it. -at the airport they may be very persistent in taking your bag and grab it without you begin able to get a word in edge wise. be firm with your no. they will demand a tip otherwise. -Overall great trip, my girlfriend and I had a great time and definitely worth the price you pay for.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: It is what it is !!

Pros : ------ Beach as good as you'll find anywhere ------ Food is good ... buffet is a belly buster ---- rooms clean and beds comfortable Cons: ---- communication difficult ( think we were first English speaking people they had met ! ) --- very large resort --- take time when arrive to orientate When we arrived at room ; -- safe didn't work ( was replaced) -- pole lamp broke (replaced) -- no TV remote provided later  [... read more] -- balcony light not working First night we couldn't get AC to work and roasted all night -- weren't told balcony door had to be totally closed ( hard) or wouldn't start!! I believe if they were just a bit more proactive that perhaps would take just a bit more training and maybe a few dollars your arrival /trip could be so much better. For instance, when staff arrives after your checkout , do a walkabout checking to see if everything works. If not, report so corrected before you arrive. Believe missing a valuable resource by not having bellboys show where things are and how they work in your room . They seem to just want a nice tip for throwing bags in room !!?? Remember --- this is an all-inclusive and low budget . By the way , you can get GREAT SERVICE and just about anything you want -- it just takes CASH . I had one local answer me one day when having a problem and she was very honest , smiled and said " Dominican " !!! We added a package offered by Air Transat called Royal Golden and would highly recommend. IT IS WHAT IT IS !!!

Occidental Punta Cana: Couldnt have asked for a better week!

After seeing mixed reviews (which never help) we went into the occidental punta Cana with an open mind. Everything was great, from the beach, food, drinks, staff and weather! Our room was not a renovated one but it still was great! I mean you never spend anytime in your room to begin with. There are many activities to do for every age which is awesome.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort , but there are some points that need close attention ?

This resort is very nice and still has the new atmosphere. However there were a few issues that prevented us from having a great trip like we had our hearts set on. 1. We had some issues with food that we addressed . Attention to it was fair but not to any scene of urgency until we pushed the issue.. 2. Bad rain storm caused flooding in rooms ,facilities.Also contaminated pools and part of the beach washed away made for not a great vacation. . 3. The employees at the resort were very nice  [... read more]and helpful, did their best despite the language barrier with many, who found it difficult to communicate. More training would be recommended on this for sure.. 4. I rated three as fair below due to the food issues, and the problems due to the storm that maybe some should not have happened and had a negative effect on about half of our vacation that had a premium price tag on it. 5. Some entertainment was great , other shows were ok. . I know the resort is new and still getting things at hand but first impressions are lasting and many times if not up to par don't promote referrals to others to entice them to visit a particular resort. 6. We had problems with the shower in our room that wasn't attended to until after bringing it up many times. /> 7. I would say a definite yes to a recommendation if the above concerns were addressed and action taken where control is possible, really it is a yes but!!

Punta Cana Princess: very nice resort

The hotel was great, surprised at lack of direction upon arrival. The room was great. The cleaning and serving staff was the best asset to this place, they were always nice and friendly. The second day, we went to meet "Johnson " in the lobby, but he was away.... so Royal Holidays was there to Con people, we lost 2 1/2 hours listening to this sales pitch, even though multiple times asking for "The bottom line ". They asked for $9,000.00 plus for a 30 year vacation package !!! Then we had to walk back to the resort. You need to keep those asses away from the Hotel. The TEX-MEX restaurant had the absolute WORST meal I have ever not tasted. First we got attitude from the waiter because we didn't order wine. On the menu " Fillet steak" was listed,... was so looking forward to a steak and baked potato with salad. The dinner arrived, only to find the steak wasn't any steak I've ever seen, couldn't even cut it with a knife, tried opening the baked potato, it was black and probably cooked days ago( un-eatable) . the salad was completely flooded with dressing and was totally bad. We had to go next door to the Asian rest. to actually get something to eat. Overall the place was great. My Daughter came a couple days after us, she had a HORRIBLE TIME, BUGS and BITES in all 4 rooms they moved her to. We had to help move her in the middle of the night. MOLD on the mattress, either the safes wouldn't work in her rooms or the balcony doors wouldn't lock, she got ripped off, and should get some sort of compensation. Finally, We'll never fly Sunwing again. That was the single most terrible experience We've ever had. Cramped seats with barely any seat cushioning.30 minutes into a 4 hour flight our asses were freaking out, ridiculous that cash can't buy you anything. I asked for water, never got it, probably because it's free . Plane was delayed both on departures to and from. I'll definitely go with AIR Canada for better service and seats.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Asbolutely fantastic!!!

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here the end of April and had the most amazing time. The staff were so entertaining and nice and friendly. This resort is very clean and beautiful and brand new. We had a gorgeous suite and many different swimming pools to enjoy. There were many delicious choices for food and drinks. We had the very best time and hope to have the chance to visit here again. Cheers from Canada :) Mike & Kim

TRS Turquesa: Excellent resort... even in the rain!

Lots to do. Lots to see and lots of places to relax and enjoy the sun. We had three days of rain on our seven day trip and we still enjoyed our time. There are many covered walkways, golf carts to bring you from place to place, many restaurants and buildings to hang out in. Service was incredible and the food is endless and delicious. Any food you can think of or imagine, you could find there. Rooms were very nice, similar to a hotel in Canada. Highly recommend.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach: Just okay

There were some excellent staff members with great customer service but this wasn't wide spread or consistent. It took 3 tries to move into a room which had enough beds, or had AC that worked or didn't have a leak from the heavy rain (understandably not the resorts fault about the rain but the receptions attitude was "don't worry, it's ok... you're on vacation" instead of doing something about it). The regular rooms at Bavaro are quite basic with no room service or hotel info in the room. The "S [... read more]un club" (VIP) rooms and service perks in the Sunscape Dominican part of the resort were more comparable to what you'd expect from a 4 star resort as a Canadian than the Sunscape Bavaro part of the resort. They have room service and more friendly and helpful staff. Juan at the Sun Club swim up bar is the best!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Amazing resort

Loved it. Family vacation, service was great. Beach awesome. One issue was not enough clean towels at the pool for exchanging. Restaurants were good but hard to get reservations at 6 PM and we ate late a lot. There was construction directly behind our rooms and the construction crews worked day and until 11 PM at night. Noisy when in the rooms but not in the room that often. But they woke us up at 7 AM.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Graduvation 2017

This is our 11th trip to this Resort, so obviously we like it. We have celebrated milestone birthday's and anniversary's at this resort but this year was extra special as we brought our 3 adult children plus two girlfriends all of whom who were graduating from University, so it was a big celebration. We also wanted to share with our kids the place that we have loved to visit. The resort lived up to our expectation and we had a wonderful time. After going to the same resort for 11 years you would think at some point they would have a record of your stay. They don't, after 10 years you get a grey braclet (not sure what the benefits are if any) but anyway I brought our bracelets from the previous year, well this totally through them off, they didn't know what to do. The manager came over and said to us look in my eyes and he said no don't recognize you and doubted us. He said wait in the lobby until he checked something out, it was an hour waiting to get checked in, why I don't know. The other inconsistency is making reservations for restaurants, 4 people, 4 different days and 4 different answers mostly no can't help you. Funny the 4th person made reservation for 3 restaurants no questions asked. This year not sure what the confusion was with reservation, the week before we were to leave we were contacted by Trip Central to stay the rooms that we were staying in at the Punta Cana part of the resort were going to be affected with the renovation and we were moving to the Palace resort, we said not a problem. I did recheck with Trip Central to see where we should check in at and she said check into the Palace lobby. When we arrived no one at the Palace knew what we were talking about and there was no reservation. We went to the Punta Cana lobby and they had our names, even when I showed the email from Trip Central they had no idea.
