Muthu Playa Varadero: Pick another resort

This has been my 5th time to Cuba always loved it always went to a 4 star... This resort is a 2 star we paid a thousand each return from Ottawa and it was worth 500 each at the most but I still say try to pick another resort. Weather beautiful (thankfully), beach very nice.

Villa Tortuga: Would not go back.

The resort itself is a nice size. Good location, good beach, pool, friendly. Standard room was sub-par compared to other three stars. Rooms need total updating. Problems with door, bed, was room, etc. Compared to other 3 star properties would rate the food as a 2 star hotel. Public washrooms dirty and not functioning.

Starfish Jibacoa: This is a perfect little resort for those looking for a quiet stay at a great price.

The beach, grounds and bungalow-style accommodations at this resort are the best for the price anywhere in Cuba. It is very spread out with a long wide beach. The pathways are great for strolling about in the evening. Snorkeling is a big draw as it is very accessible with a short swim from the beach or just wade in and watch the fish right a shore. Lots of beautiful birds and watching the pelicans feed every day is quite a treat. While the food is very good in the buffet, if you are in need  [... read more]of a change there are some excellent little restaurants just up the road for very low prices. The staff are wonderful and definitely make you feel at home.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Wonderful Week!

The hotel showed signs of age (we were there when it was a sandals nine years ago) but the grounds were beautiful and the rooms and bathrooms very clean. The food at the main buffet was SO good with lots of healthy options. The only let down was the butler service - it was non existent. especially when you've experienced it at other Royaltons.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Best beach

The beach at Naviti in Varadero is the best we have ever seen. It goes on for miles and is nice sand no rocks. The resort itself has been revovated and they still have a ways to go as it is such a large complex but what is done is beautiful. We stayed in the beachclub area and it is very quite. The pool there has the best bartender named Juan. Defintely go see him. Another great spot is the beach bar and Elvis will take good care of you. There is a Mojito bar and a beach club concierg [... read more]e but it is off the beaten path and should be open later in the evening instead of at the same time as the pool and beach bar. Also if you are booked into the beach club you should get checked in and out with the beach club concierge. We arrived along with 20 other people and having that option would have made it a lot smoother. The food in the buffet is really good and the a la carts are basically the same but if you eat later in the evening they will run out of stuff. The staff are great and I highly recommend this place.

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus Varadero,Cuba

The resort grounds are beautiful with many royal palms, lots of flowering trees and plants and a large pool. We were very fortunate to have a room in a new section that just opened 8 months ago. Our room was very modern and reminded me of a Swedish look. The beach is one of the best in the area, very large, lots of sand and you are able to walk out a long distance over sand before it gets deep. There was entertainment nightly and the performers were very good. The food was not up to Canadian sta [... read more]ndards and food presentation was not up to our sanitary expectations. I ate lots of pasta for lunch and supper! The rest of the resort is older and we met many couples who had multiple problems with their room, I would only recommend this hotel if asking for the family section which is new part.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Wonderful Resort

The resort was lovely. It was very clean and not too big. The staff were amazing!!!!! The grounds were pretty and well kept. There was always something to do and I met many nice people from all over the world. I have already recommended this resort to a friend.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great trip, great people, good resort

Beautiful beaches, food was surprisingly good despite what most people say about Cuban food! Only complaint was that every night, our legs would get bitten alive when we went to bed.. don't know if there were bed bugs or what.. but it seemed to happen to a lot of people at the resort. Not a bad resort for singles, but it was definitely family dominated, which I don't mind, but it's not for a crazy wild time if that's what you're looking for. But night life on the resort died off by 11pm - 12am Quite windy in Varadero, so we didn't get a chance to spend too much time on the beaches as we'd like to.

Paradisus Varadero: Amazing as always!

This was our 4th stay at this resort. It has been our preferred resort from the first time we went 4 years ago. The food in our opinion is the best available in Cuba. The new family concierge section is beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and ready to make your stay excellent. Planning our next trip here for late fall.

Playa Vista Azul: the best resort ever

First I would like to thank tammy beamish for recommending this resort we had a fantastic time.The hotel and grounds were the cleanest I have ever seen.The ...food was exceptional ...... roast pigs bbq. beef.lobsters shrimp you couldn't ask for more.the staff was very friendly.The beach was just ok. this is my 3 rd. time to cuba , mexico 4 times. Jamaica once and costa rica and this was by far the best overall resort i have been too.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort

We had a lovely suite at the resort, the grounds are really nice, as are the staff lots of friendly Canadians too We had a great week!! There is not a lot of entertainment though which makes it quieter or you need to find your own fun

Muthu Playa Varadero: Really enjoyed my stay at this resort

This resort has a lot of good qualities including amazing staff, lots of entertainment and the best beach ever. The food takes some getting used to but I think that's common throughout Cuba. It was my first time in Cuba and this resort made me want to go back.

Melia Marina Varadero: Melia Marina Varadero - not 4 1/2 stars

We ( from Ontario) stayed Mar 2-9 2017. Check in was not very smooth. After waiting at the lobby check in desk we were told to go to the 7 th floor concierge to check in. There he said our room would be #1 priority but we never were given an approx. time. There was supposed to be a welcome drink. We did not get one. Finally got in after a few hours. We upgraded to THE LEVEL for an additional $200.00 / person. This option included a private a la carte restaurant, complimentary massage, top fl [... read more]oors in 5 or 6. Three days after arriving we got a list of all inclusions for THE LEVEL. We should have gotten this checking in.The complimentary massage which was comprised of 4 units only 2 were available, 1 piece of equipment was not working and 1 tub was not hot, so we passed. They offered nothing in it's place. The LEVEL food at dinner was very good, for sure a 4 1/2 star, except for the beef. The lobster and salmon, fantastic.Drinks also top shelf. However because of the limited menu, I would suggest they do a daily different evening special to add some variety. Breakfast was a different story. Omelettes not cooked, boiled eggs +1/2 hour, french toast (raw) not grilled, no sausage(it's on the menu), bacon cooked in clumps not strips, no brown bread or ketchup. We've had coffee and juice delivered twice and our order taken out to the balcony by mistake.There's more but you get the picture. Breakfast/lunch both need a new cook/chef. Servers need better overall training and pick up food faster when table ready. The room definitely was not luxurious. Poor amenities, no handle on the outside of the patio door from the balcony, sliding closet doors were very stiff to open and the safe failed 3x. A tech was called reset it each time. The room was dated and needs total renovation. Beds were comfortable and the TV was great. It's the first time CTV was available on a vacation south. In the bathroom here were no face cloths, no hand towels, no kleenex, no hooks at the shower and a very small shower rack to put in shampoo, soap etc. into. Maybe the size of 4" x 6"-8" tops. Tried the buffet a few times. Bacon the same as THE LEVEL only when put in large trays...a lot of bacon fat and not well cooked. Very slow coffee and tea water. Egg stations are a bit slow and more so at peak times, but the food is very good. Again no ketchup but was available our first time in the buffet. Did not do lunch or dinner at the buffet. The pool areas are nice but found the pool water colder than the ocean. My only complaint would be there are not many shaded areas, and what there was, filled up quickly. The GRILL food station had very good chicken and the other beach restaurant I did not enjoy. The hamburger was disgusting. We ate there only once. The beach is quite nice. Beautiful water colour, rolling waves, great sand to walk on, sea shells to pick up, very little sea weed and staff to help you get loungers. Staff however didn't come around very often for drink orders.

Melia Las Antillas: Great staff, amazing beach

We stayed at the Melia Las Antillas in Los Tainos Beach. We really enjoyed the "feel" of this resort with several buildings around a central pool. The strength of this resort lies with their staff, always friendly, smiling, helpful and sometimes playful. Food was varied with three on-site restaurants included in the price if one wished to have a change from the main dining area. They also served BBQ at lunch. All in all, we found the food quite good knowing this is often a complaint of visi [... read more]tors to Cuba. Live shows were staged each night and a wide range of music was played in various locations in the hotel ranging from Cuban beats to classical ... all in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Melia Las Antillas: Beautiful place

This is a great resort, nice and clean and the food and service was A+.I would recomend this to anyone, the beach was fantastic and the rooms was nice.would like to return some day.we had great weather.

Paradisus Varadero: Paradisus Varadero

Room---- I was lucky to have been put in the Family Concierge section which I understand is very new. The room was lovely,and well taken care of as well as the concierge service. On the other hand the rooms in the remaining of the resort were very dated with showers and water that often didn't work. My other family members were moved from this area. I would only recommend the Family Concierge section to stay in. Resort----- A beautiful property with pool and beach that were exceptional. Entert [... read more]ainment---- The best evening entertainment of any place I have stayed. Beach entertainment every day at lunch time. Food---- I was not expecting good food and was not disappointed. Meat tended to be undercooked, and other things quite often were over cooked. The handling of food was questionable as serving utensils were. Not always available especially for the breads. One instance I did observe was serving tongs being dropped on the floor and when a guest passed them to a worker to be replaced she just used them to continue serving food. Food would be my biggest issue with this resort. Cleanliness----- For the most part things were well maintained but there were times when the pool area should have been swept and tables were very slow to be cleaned up. We did learn that there is only one time and speed and that was Cuban time. Bedding---- I was in a room with a king size bed that had a sheet that never fit it. There were no hand towels or face cloths and sometimes the bath towel was more like a bath mat. Staff----- I found them reserved but once they got to know you some of them were wonderful. For the most part everyone was helpful and did the best with what they had to work with. Did hear from another guest about money that was missing to which the hotel refused to do anything about. Would I Return------ Went mainly to see Havana and chose this resort for the beach and the pool. Probably will not go back to Cuba at all as there are too many other great places to go that are more modern in this time.All in all had a great vacation and from what I heard from others this resort is better than a lot of others. I would recommend it only after telling someone the things I learned. I don't know if it is because of not enough help but general maintenance and repairs were not carried out such as replacing missing toilet seats, broken railings, general things like that and some of this was in the new section.

Starfish Jibacoa: Excellent beach and grounds.. very clean and peacefull

This place is very peaceful and quite. If you don't like the crowds, this is the place for you. The resort has small cottages spread about perfectly kept grounds.. Cottages consist of clusters of 2 or 4 in a row.. If you intend on going, I would recommend the cottages and not the hotel.. Hotel does not look appealing and is situated in a corner at the entrance to the resort, not nice. Cottages are the way to go.. We went for the beach which was excellent and again peaceful and no crowds.. [... read more] It is kept clean and water is crystal clear. The pools are very nice, there are two of them, together. There are activities at the pool side throughout the day and a nightly show starting at 9:30. The dinning area is also nice. 3 meals daily which includes drinks and wine. This is the only time wine is served. If you only drink wine, and would like some other than meal time, you will need to buy your own at the general store on site. We enjoyed our stay very much and love the grounds and the beach. The only part of our trip we did not enjoy as it relates to this resort was the food. We both feel that what brings this resort down, is the food. It was not uncommon to hear people asking each other, "what is that". That is because it did not look like what it was supposed to look like.. i.e. chicken.. Food was bland without taste. This is the only bad thing I have to say about this place... Other than that; it is a wonderful place to just enjoy the sun and beach without fighting for a spot on the beach.. The grounds and beach are excellent. The small cottages gives this resort an inviting appeal of a small town/community.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good value and family friendly

The grounds are beautiful and well kept with kind groundskeepers who give origami gifts made of flowers and leaves to children which is beautiful. The buffet is a little bland and generic - not enough flavourful carribean food for my tastes. Bathrooms need serious upgrades and the pool floors need refinishing as well, but overall for the price and kind staff and family friendly nature

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Friendly people

Beaches beautiful, staff couldn't do enough for you. The first room we were in had separate beds, ceiling fan wasn't working and no phone. The staff moved us to another room right away when we brought it to their attention. Unfortunately I got very sick the last couple of days and had to seek medical help. The medical staff was very good.

Melia Marina Varadero: Amazing Resort - Level Rooms a Must

The resort and people were great. The Level concierge team helped us make our vacation as easy as possible including doing a great job getting us tee of times when there were none available online. I will return!
