Melia Las Antillas: nice resort

I really liked this resort. I loved the beach,the pool, the people and the weather. I am hoping to return to this resort someday. I only have one complaint and that is the beds were a bit hard a nice pillowtop mattress would have been nice. But I slept well regardless. Thanks for the great stay.....

Melia Las Antillas: Super Resort

This resort is beautiful I really enjoyed my stay there very relaxing and quiet. The beach was beautiful and the people so helpful and nice. The food was good as well. I am hoping to return to this resort someday. The beds could be updated a bit they are a bit hard. Other wise it was great.

Melia Las Antillas: Wonderful Resort..

This hotel was lovely. Very easy to get around. The people were very nice and wanted to help you in any way they could. The beds were a bit hard but ok. The food was good we always found something to eat. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. The beach area was beautiful.

Palma Real: the worst resort

We have been to Cuba before and this was the worst place we have ever stayed in. The beach was so far away from the hotel that we were unable to walk to it due to mobility problems. They should have offered some form of transportation as you had to cross the highway. As it was a public beach, it was difficult to get a chair unless you went early in the morning to save one. You had to put a $25 deposit down if you wanted a beach towel, to be picked up when you left. As they did not have enoug [... read more]h towels you were unable to exchange it when needed. The food was terrible in the buffet dining area. It was unseasoned and had no taste. The rooms were substandard. The first room they put us in was not for a disabled person and smelt of mold. It was also very dingy and noisy. The second room had no hot water all the time we were there. Nor did we have bath towels most of the time. The cleaning staff were not very efficient. My sister had something in her bed, as she had bites all over her arms and legs, She went to public relations to let them know about a chair collapsing on her the person could have cared less.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: A second home

The renovations that have been completed are very nice. I am excited to go back once they have completely finished all the renovations. We stayed at the beach club side which is a longer walk to the main buffet. During the day there is a nice beach close a snack bar and a beach bar also a pool with a swim up bar. There was never a wait for anything great service and great staff. Only complain I have is there wasn't much hot water only had hot water for 2 days 1 day was luke warm and the o [... read more]thers was freezing cold, but was told they are working on this issue. I have been to Cuba 5 times and this time was the best food in Cuba. I definitely give this resort a 10 and can't wait to go back!!

Playa Caleta: Don't do it

This was a week from hell We have been back a week and still sick from the food No toilet paper or soap Dirtiest place I've ever been Birds eating off your plate Dogs walking around in the dining area Food is beyond aweful

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: very nice relaxing resort

This hotel provided everything we were expecting and hoping for. The rooms were pleasantly clean with up to date furnishings - the pool water was crystal clear - the staff were extremely polite - helpful and accommodating. The food selection was plentiful and although some people say the food is blah in Cuba we had no issues. We really utilized the cooks grilling the food in front of us which allowed us to add whatever we wanted to - to enhance the flavour of our food. That is something I learne [... read more]d during my first visit to Cuba. I enjoyed the different selection of restaurants which provided various choices of where you want to eat. The hotel is in close proximity to various off site ventures. The only disappointment we experienced was the weather near the end of the week which unfortunately was out of the control of the hotel. I definitely would recommend this hotel and will return.

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Nothing was amazing!! Dump! Elevator worked just once all week ! We had to move from 7th floor to 3rd floor because. Of climbing stairs and with Herman's heart condition couldn't take it!!!Toilet wasn't flushing properly and was promised each day they would look after it! Hermann had to fetch a pail and fill it with water until we could flush!! Mattress sunk in the middle and of course woke with back aches! Complained to Air Canada rep! He told us to report it to the desk in which we did several times but was ignored! Broken drawers and furniture disgusting! Food was terrible! Chicken , bones and skin! Hermann found a plastic substance in the bread almost broke his tooth , reported it to the head girl , nothing done! Everything was terrible , food indispicable!! Stairs dirty and vomit in the main hallway near stairs sitting there at 9:30 am ! They had much time in the am to clean it up!

This place is a complete dump!! Ruined our vacation! People working there were very unfriendly , unless they saw a nice tip! Disgusting! Would never in a lifetime go back ! The only thing that saved us was the beautiful beach! Everyone we met was complaining about food and rooms!!!

Gran Caribe Sun Beach: Great resort

I actually went on this trip on my own and at first I was a little nervous but once you get there everyone is very welcoming. It didn't take long until I started meeting people and learnt that there are quite a few lonely travelers. Both old and young, everyone was there to have a good time. Hotel was also great, AC actually worked, had warm water and over all it was clean. Have no complaints...

Hotel Bella Costa: Better than expected

Been to Cuba 5 times now, so know what to expect. I thought this time at Bella Costa might be a slight downgrade, but was quite pleased. Great front desk, very good with a golf package, because service between hotel and course is great. Course has a cart pick you up by the hotel. Food is getting better each time I go. Great for meat lovers, (except for beef), good for overall variety, but disappointing for fresh fruit. Clean and tidy. Lots of children. Plenty of quiet spaces if you wan [... read more]t. Club Kawama: Repeat visit

We have been to this resort several times before we are able to see changes. There have been many improvements since our last visit. Our room was much cleaner than other times, the bedding and towels as white as snow. The walking paths have far better lighting and there are more nooks to sit and chat as well as towels for the beach readily available. Most beach loungers were new and undamaged. It has never been fine dining but this year there was much less variety than other years. Beans, rice, lentils, chickpeas, salads and pasta over and over and over again. Another disappointment is that as repeat guests, we were not upgraded. We had sent a room request a month prior to our trip and would have gladly paid to upgrade if someone had responded and told us it would be required. We got no response to our request so were very disappointed when we arrived to rooms next to the street and upgrades were not available at that point. As repeat guests, it would have been nice to have gotten a reply to our request at least. Not sure if any of us will ever go back

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Good value

Very clean environment which includes all public areas. The daily buffet food selection was quite good in terms of variety and quality. The hotel service staff were very helpful, friendly, and attentive to our needs. One suggestion however would be to add additional lighting on public pathways as they are quite dark after the sun sets.

Palma Real: Disappointed / Saddened

This being our third visit to the hotel/resort, I was hoping that some upgrades may have been made with all the Canadian money going in. Heck they could rebuild the country with the amount of pecos being paid out to pee where ever you go. Excursions, Havana excellent, tour guide phenomenal, Sugar, cigar rum way to much driving. Jeep tour painful 90% driving, no information of what or where we were going and again having to put out all that extra money for stops to purchase their goods here and [... read more] there. NO stops to pee so when you got to the destination and you don't have a spare pecos pee your pants or use the bush. Toilet paper is always optional there to take your own. Room ok, without hot water 3 of 11 days. Water pressure sucked. Food much more bland than past two visits. When they say don't eat off of the resort it is probably so you won't figure out food is better off the resort. Staff mostly great and friendly, encountered some you we taken aback to. Will I go again NO

Melia Marina Varadero: Highly Recommend!

This resort was above expectation. Our room had an amazing Marina view. We stayed in the (1) bedroom apartment. The room was extremely spacious and very clean and well kept. (2) huge bathrooms with showers! I was extremely surprised by the care to detail in customer service. Any request that was made was followed up shortly with a phone call to make sure that we were satisfied. The food was the best we have had in Cuba so far! They even had "heinz" ketchup!! Hotel Los Cactus: wonderful resort

this place is a home away from home for us. the minute we arrived we were greeted by the staff , we happen to know most of them as this was our 18th visit to this resort. Our suite was the best location for us as my husband has balance problems. It was close to the restaurants , the beach pool and whirl pools. Entertainment was superb every night. We did not visit the Cuban restaurant as it required stairs. Gardens are well looked after by the friendly gardeners, who kept all walkways clean. Lots of new sun chairs on the beach also beds in the shady areas. Unfortunately some people reserve them very early in the morning plus sun chairs as well and use these only half the day. Security personal cleaned and helped with chairs. We enjoyed the coffee bar before and after dinner, where you can enjoy all different kinds of coffee. We really enjoy the friendliness of all the staff at this resort. This is a smaller cozy hotel where you meet other repeater.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Some unexpected surprises!

On the positive side, the resort public spaces are well taken care of and it is a really large resort with a beautiful beach. The entertainment staff (Star Friends) were so friendly and worked so hard to make sure everyone had a great time and participated in the many activities on site. The things I had problems with were: We weren't shown to our room and once we found it, our room keys didn't work. When we got into our room there was no toilet seat and no hot water. I asked for our room to be [... read more] changed and they took us to show us another room and it was occupied by someone else. We did get a toilet seat two days later and they fixed the hot water. I also came across a huge cockroach in the room. This was a little inconvenience but the TV didn't have a remote control and the beds were very uncomfortable. I know that Cuba isn't known for its good food but the food was plentiful and we were able to find enough things that we could eat so we didn't starve.

Hotel Los Cactus: Great Value, Great Location, Great People

This was our fourth trip to Cuba, and by far, the most relaxing vacation we have had there. Grounds and location were excellent, room was very good, great balcony looking out on the ocean. Spent most of our time walking 1st Ave in Veradero, you have to go, hiking or on the beach. Take lots of sun screen, plenty of shaded places, but the sun is very intense. All a la carte restaurants were very good, Italian the best though. Remember to tip the staff, they appreciate it.

Melia Marina Varadero: Good not great

I just got home from the Meliá marina resort in varadero. I would first like to say that I was pleased with the hotel and felt that it was well worth the price. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. The buffet was good but could have definetly had more theme nights for sure. The staff took time on many occasions to chat with myself and my daughter. I was impressed by their language skills to say the least. Everyday in paradise isn't sunshine and they should turn that up. There is also next to no shade by the pool. Coming from Canada I'm not ready to be in the steady sunshine. The lines in the lounge at the bar were often 10-15 mins. It adds up. They could easily have 2 more servers working there to at least bring you a drink. Especially when a weeks tips surely add up to more than a months wage. Lastly the internet. It was impossible for me to connect but I will chalk that up to being in cuba.

Playa Caleta: Beautiful Beach

I have stayed at this resort 4 times or more and the beach is wonderful. The staff are great and will go out of their way to help you if needed. I had a great room with an ocean view and would go back to this resort .

Playa Vista Azul: Disappointing trip

We went to this resort at the recommendation of our agent. Very disappointing. Our room backed on to the new Iberostar resort being built, so sleeping after 630 am was impossible, since the construction crews start early, and sometimes work all night. The level of cleanliness here is low. I quit drinking out of a glass for reasons I'm not going to get into here, and drank strictly from the plastic glasses. 90% of the staff were very unfriendly, and always acted as if we were bothering them. Wi [... read more]th only one exception at the front desk, (Thanks Laura!) nobody is willing to help. We asked for a coffee maker (which most already had in their rooms) for 3 days in a row. We finally got one and it was broken. We were also told that it's best to exchange our money at the hotel, because they give a better rate. The gave us 67 cents on the dollar, while the neighbouring resorts were paying 73. When I asked about this, the man that works in the bank in the hotel told me if I didn't like the rate, to go somewhere else, and closed the window. It goes on and on. My family and I travel a couple of times a year, and this the second worst vacation we've ever had. On the positive side, the beaches are really nice, although the really nice one is a good walk away from the resort. The pools are beautiful, and the weather was great. The bar pool was fun, and the bartenders there were actually quite friendly. I will never recommend this resort, and, quite possibly this travel company. Hey, you asked.
