Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Last Time - Never Going Back

This was our 3rd time at the Ambar resort (once Ambar blue, 2 Ambar green). We emailed out room request 6 weeks in advance. Arrived around 12 noon. Check in was a nightmare. Our rooms where not ready until approximately 3:30 p.m. and we were given rooms in the 8400 facing construction on the first floor. Next day, Daniella at the Ambar Green gave us what we had originally requested which was pool side view on second floor. Thank you Daniella. The fridge was never restocked properly even  [... read more]after leaving a note. Towels were not replaced and we were missing something almost every day (coffee, sugar, cream). Asked for 3 wake up calls. Never got them. Thank god I had brought my own alarm clock. Food at the buffet is good but after six days, repetitious. Will not be returning.

TRS Cap Cana Hotel: Great vacation

We stayed at the Also Tierra Cap Cana, this was our first trip to the Dominican Republic as we had always gone to Jamaica for holidays. The resort was very well kept, we had the swim out oceanview room and loved it. The rooms were clean, the food was ok. I loved the small beach and the fact that we could go to the larger beach if we chose to only a 10 minute drive which the resort provided free.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Resort!

The grounds are perfectly manicured, the public areas are cozy, clean, and peppered throughout, the rooms are a decent size with all the amenities necessary. The food was amazing at all the a la carts. (We went to 7 of them) The beach at the Esmerelda is a bit crowded but we swam at the Ambar which was lovely.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Enjoyable

Check in was extremely slow. Food was wonderful. Staff was friendly. Kids had a blast & we would happily return for another holiday. The grounds were very well kept and clean beach. It would have been nice to have a bank machine that gave US funds, not just pesos.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Excellent family vacation

This was mine and my wife's 3rd stay at the Bahia Principe at 3 different section . Once at the Bavaro Golden, once at the Ambar green and this time at the Esmeralda. As with the other two stays the entire resort is beautiful and we'll maintained.Thid trip we traveled with our Daughter who has been here once before, as well as our niece , nephew and his girl friend all on there first time to down south. The buffets for breakfast and lunch and supper had a variety of food for everyone to enjoy.  [... read more]During this Visit we ate at 4 A la Carte resteruants all were excellent , and all the staff were a pleasure to deal ....with a special thanks to Johnny who accommodated all 6 off us with the in pool scuba lesson and Louis with setting up our buggy excursion that took us through the back roads and a refreshing dip in a cenote.....in short we had a great trip well organized for us by Tanya Smith at Trip Central and would recommend both the hotel and will be dealing with Tanya and Trip Central for our next vacation.....PS as with many resorts the only issue was the sand fleas

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: Relaxing place

It was a nice place and very clean. Very busy resort and at the time there was a lot of construction next door. The bedrooms were beautiful. Wish there was a place to go dancing nighttime. The food was decent. The garden grill was the best place.

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Beautiful !!

The majestic colonial is a beautiful hotel. Me and my fiancé have traveled before and this was one of the more classier places we have been. The staff were friendly and warm and always tried to get the crowed engaged. My fiancé and I upgraded the adults only section of the resort and the perks it gave us were very nice. We got an amazing butler (thank you Freddy!), access to 2 other pools with swim up bars, fancy towels and more. If I had to rate this hotel I would give it a 5 star rating and we will defiantly be going back as we were so impressed.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Dreams Punta Cana

We returned to Punta Cana after travelling elsewhere for the past 10 years. Chose Dreams Punta Cana because of our satisfaction with several other Dreams resort stays. Resort is showing it's age, but everything in our room (4314) worked well. Lots of water pressure and hot water. Comfortable bed. Housekeeping was hit and miss on towels and face cloths. Only after we were approached by customer service by the pool one day and asked about our stay, and mentionning the towel/face cloth minor issue  [... read more]did we have them for the rest of our stay. Grounds are immaculate and nice and lush with several different types of flora. Service overall was very good. Few instances at a bar where people were waiting and a person would walk up and get asked by the bartender what they wanted right away and get served. Big tipper ? Food and service was very good at all a la cartes. From what we remember, the beef has improved immensely. The hamburgers and gyros were delicious. One day on the beach they were BBQing chicken and pork chops. Most delicious and tender pork chops I have ever eaten ! Family resort - we were there over Easter and lots of kids around but lots for everyone to do and a huge pool so never an issue. People hoarding the free floaties ARE an issue. If everyone gave them up after their little float around the pool then everyone would get a chance. Saw lots lying on 4-6 crisscrossed, and when asked politely for one, would be told they were being used. Will take our own (and saw lots doing that) next time. Also the towel issue is not enforced although they state security will remove towels if no one shows up after 15 mins. Basically these same issues (rude-inconsiderate guests) are at every resort...... Nice beach but not Bavaro white sand beach. Very clean, no seaweed. Nice to wak on for several miles in either direction. No timeshare issues although we didn't turn our paper key in for resort credits. Spa was OK. Had a side by side 80 min massage (good) which included a water journey ($35 value-series of hot/cold water/steam treatments) Other resort spas were nicer. They would accompany you on the different steps and time you. Here the steps and times are posted on a board and you have to keep checking and guess on the times. Some of the showers/equipment need repairs. Had share privlege at Now Onyx which is a 5 min cab ride. Went and walked around this brand new resort and had dinner/drinks at their Italian restaurant. Very good food and service. Then spent some time at their beach party. Vegetation not established yet, lots of concrete. Should be very nice in the next 5-10 years. Didn't check out their rooms. Weather for the week was sun/cloud/rain mix. But still very warm and humid. Windy the whole week. If you can find a deal, this resort is a good value.

Excellence Punta Cana: 2nd Visit - Great resort

This is a beautiful resort, good food and great staff. We had a Terrace Suite with a plunge pool which was fantastic. All the restaurants were great and we loved that we did not need reservations. The entertainment each night was very good, some were better than others, but the Michael Jackson and Circus shows were great. The Level at Melia Caribe: Great trip

We stayed in the adults only The Level. It felt like a little resort in a big resort. The Level restaurants are great. The staff very friendly. Not usually hard to fin a chair at beach however people still feel the need to save one even if they don't use it at all. Definitely would return.

JOIA Bavaro by Iberostar: First timers at Iberostar

My girlfriend and I went on a long over due vacation at the Iberostar Grand Bavaro. I had big expectations for our hotel ,and I can honestly say that they were all met. We love the beach and when your rolling with Iberostar Grand the beach is ALWAYS clean (no see weed or debris). The servers and bartenders were always nice a came around the beach pretty frequently, make sure you find Manuel he was always singing and in a good mood.As foodies we are picky eaters and expect great service and they  [... read more]had it! The a-la-cart restaurant are all very very good. Drinks were always strong and in generous quantity. I know for some people they might find it expensive,I honestly believe it was worth every penny.

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Location!!

Not sure what some are looking for but this resort was great for us! Stayed in building 24 which was renovated and perfectly located. Very central, room was beautiful, always cleaned and stocked well. Group grounds were kept clean. Staff was amazing and very friendly. Food was good always a variety to choose from. Never went hungry. Beach was amazing. Had a wonderful, and well rested vacation.

Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites: Great vacation!!

We had a great stay. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We requested a room change to have more space and they easily accommodated our request. The beach was awesome. Food was good. We really enjoyed the option for frequent a la carte dining

Secrets Cap Cana: Best view ever!!

What a view as soon as you leave the shuttle!! Magic... Great wide beach. Therefore, many improvements are still needed (management, staff, service, food and property). It will become a real Secrets some day... Would I return? Not sure yet.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Beautiful resort and excellent service

You must do the Royal Service. It met all of our expectations. The suite was beautiful, our butler Alex was very accommodating and helpful. My only suggestion is to verify if the transportation to and from the resort is private versus a shuttle bus.

Grand Bavaro Princess: Great

The rooms and the beach are highlights but nothing to compare to the natural area with all of the birdlife and reptiles. Great place to walk in peaceful natural areas. Also the layout of the resort is fantastic with the separate 8 plexes with lots of space in between. Nice to see a resort that is not covered in buildings

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Esmerelda!

My 5th stay at Esmerlda. Unfortunately this year the "atmosphere" was different with adult-only...missed the family oriented focus. Am very happy to hear the resort is reverting back as of May. This year I found lack of waiter service in the lobby bar, room fridge was not restocked daily, coffee pot never cleaned out, rooms are getting In need of an overall upgrade. The resort grounds are lovely and well maintained. Love the resort layout...easy & quick access to beach and restaurants.

TRS Turquesa: 2nd time around

Start off with the grounds we're clean and groomed nicely. Our room had a few things that didn't work but never complained. Pools nice , beach nice. Vendors on beach continuously bug to do excursions. Drinks were very below par. Every drink was made way to strong that u couldn't even drink and the beer isn't very good but did the job the food seem not the greatest compared to the last time we went on 2015 but again we didn't starve. Staff was always pleasant.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Resort, would for sure be coming back

The hotel overall was great, room was clean, and staff was friendly and accommodating. The Buffet never had a complaint with any food, in fact it was really good. Pools were well cared after. Beach was great with a good number of lounge chairs, great number of bars with great bartenders. There was one super high energy staff member around the pool that was harlious, entertaining and a definite assiet to the hotel. Overall experience was great and will be returning again

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: 3 start resort at best!

This hotel is underwhelming. "Premier" rooms are not well maintained and dated. They are located facing the activity pool and are extremely noisy. For those in buildings 7 and 8 you can also hear the noise from the "social area" which goes on until 11 pm or midnight. The only way to get away from the noise is to keep the air conditioner in the room running. Mini bar is a small fridge that is stocked with 2 beer daily and various sodas. The "class" system is that you must upgrade to Diamond [... read more] status to have upgrades which are not worth the money., nor are they usually available. The buffet food is mediocre and there is no variety from day to day whatsoever. Sunwing states that you may use facilities at the Royalton however they don't tell you that this doesn't include the pools or restaurants (or that there is additional charge for the restaurants at the Royalton and you must make a reservation) because they get to treat you like a 2nd class citizen if you are from Memories. Sunwing also has a vacation club that they like to state is not a "timeshare" but it is and the Concierge at the Memories main focus is to get you to attend a 90 minute presentation after which they will give you the hard sell. We managed to dodge that bullet and the only good part was the "free day" at the Royalton if you attended the presentation. Full use of buffet and pools and restaurants, etc. The staff however are very friendly at the Memories. They are well trained and very upbeat - though they must be bored out of their trees trying to keep the tourists happy. The Front desk is very disorganized but they try hard. Front desk staff at the Royalton were indifferent (we tried to move to the Royalton on the 2nd day of our trip but it was full. Unfortunately it seems the Memories is more interested with upselling the Nexus tours and tourist adventures. They are constantly wandering around the pool areas trying to sell activities and photos and/or timeshares. We have been to the DR many times and have never been hassled to that extent. The water park was a hit with our teenage grandchildren and was the main reason we booked this hotel. That and the accessibility to the Royalton which we found out was not as broad as we had expected. All in all our trip was rather disappointing.
