We were here from April 13-20, 2024. First time to Cuba.
We arrived on an early flight from Moncton, and we weren't expected our room until check-in 4pm. We were very excited to get in our room a bit earlier than that. Also, so very happy to get our requested location (beautiful oceanview room 8521). Thanks, Gippsy!
From the moment we arrived; to the time we left was amazing. All the staff, too many to list treated us like family.
So many places to eat such as buffet, snack bar, and bea[... read more]ch area. We didn't try any A La Cartes...next year we will (promise). We really enjoyed the pizza and fries at the snack bar. I think we had it like 3 or 4 times. hahaha.
The resort checked all our boxes in terms of what you expect of a five * resort in Cuba. We will definitely be returning in April 2025. Maybe even for 2 weeks as we found we were just getting settled in by day 4.
We did walk a short distance to the three-level market 1.7 kms I believe. It was a lovely walk. Picked up a few things.
Every morning, we loved to talk to the gardeners and pool staff. Everyone works so hard to keep this resort in tiptop shape.
We met so many new friends in these short 7 days. Some from UK, and some even closer to home like Dalhousie and Miramichi. Hopefully see them next year. My husband loved to play pool volleyball. I played once and got so burnt but so worth the experience. lol
Thanks for a wonderful vacation. See you next year!!!!

Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo: Grand Muthu Cayo Guillermo
This resort was very welcoming the staff was absolutely wonderful friendly and appreciative of all the guest. The rooms are very spacious and clean housekeeping did a wonderful job. The beach was absolutely gorgeous lots of lounge chairs and tiki huts. The pool area well there’s 3 pools and another area removed from these for kids. The food was plentiful and somewhat repetitive but remember this is Cuba and they are a hurting country we lacked of nothing and were served with a smile every day. T[... read more]he rum was plentiful and the beer was cold the coffee excellent I mean what more do you want ? You won’t get fancy dinners and steak never had bacon and never missed any of these things. I would recommend this hotel as best value for your money shop around you’ll see.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Loved every minute
Another amazing week at the Iberostar. Good food (as far as I know they ran out of pop, but that doesn't effect us as we are not pop drinkers.) weather was amazing, staff so friendly and the shows are amazing.
Now the down side, there is a new (very green) manager who is not in the least bit interested in how happy his guests are. When speaking with staff, they are all not happy with him. He won't even speak to many of the staff, no good morning, doesn't know many by name. Which is really sad [... read more]because you can feel tension when he is around.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: My opinion of the Playa Paraiso
The grounds of the hotel were nice, the pool was great. Rooms were comfortable, except, they did not change our bed sheets all week or our bath towels. I purposely left one on the floor for the maid to change for a fresh one, and all she did was pick it up fold it and put it back on the edge of the bath tub,
Speaking of bath tubs, they were so high to get in and out of you had to be careful not to fall getting in or out of if.
They hardly had any night entertainment for adults, and when the[... read more]y did, it was peetty bad. The food was repetitive, which most resort do, as to not waste food. Most of the staff were some what friendly.
The best meals we had all week, were in the Italian, Cuban and Portugese restaraunts. We could not get any bottle water for our room aftet the first day, I was told that they did not have anymore.
I would give this resort a 3 star and will never go back.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: The Good and the Bad!
The grounds, rooms, pool and beach were immaculately kept. It’s a fairly new resort so all areas are up to date. Hot water was hit and miss in our room. Multiple days with cold military showers. Water bottles in the room were also hit and miss. Some days 1 small bottle, other days none. The 4th day we were there they left us a big jug which was great. The staff were lovely and so helpful for the most part. The lobby bar was beautiful with lots of seating and live music. They had Frappuccino, ic[... read more]e coffee and pretty good alcoholic drinks in the lobby bar also.
The family pool washrooms by the end of the day started to smell and ran out of toilet paper. The wifi is sporadic at best! The food was hit and miss in the buffet. They had no hot pasta being cooked after day 4, they ran out of cheese for omelettes and some mornings no bread for toast. The lineups for the snack bars were long. We waited 1.5 hours at the beach bar for pizza and about 20-30 minutes at the family pool for fries. If you have picky eaters I would choose another country to vacation in or take lots of snacks and things like packaged oatmeal or Mr. Noodles. The staff will gladly get hot water for you. Peanut butter and Nutella saved us a couple times as our son is picky. Overall great resort if you can overcome the food shortages.

Sanctuary White Sands: Amazing Resort!!!
This hotel is beautiful! There are a few things they have to fix but it’s brand new so it’s expected to run into some issues. Overall everything was wonderful? the sports bar bartender Chino made amazing Spanish coffee. The pool attentants are amazing. The whole staff goes out of their way to try and please you. The pool, lobby, rooms and the beach is one of the best I’ve seen in Cuba. We will definitely be going back?

Iberostar Coral Esmeralda: Cayo Cruz
Just back rom 2 weeks at the Iberostar Coral adult only resort. Beach was much less wide than expected at high tide. Photos from the resort were taken at low tide. When low tide nice to walk. Unfortunately during our stay there was a lot of wind which brought in weeds which the resort was very slow to clean up. The palapas are very close together with 4 to a palapa so if you are just 2 it isn't private at all. We spent the majority of the time at the pool which was quite nice and much more [... read more]private. As we are both swimmers the long 8 foot wide section connecting the buildings and 2 larger pools is perfect for doing lengths without bothering anybody. Water was crystal clear and zero garbage around. As the resort is fairly new the foliage is in the majority not yet mature but the gardeners do a great job keeping it nice and cleaned. Ate once at a restaurant but as we hate following a schedule on holidays we didn't repeat it. The buffet always had lots of food and the chefs did a good job in trying to change things up with what they had to work with. Have been to Cuba over 25 times so I know not to be a picky eater. The lobby bar was well stocked with more choice than the snack bar bar. The beach bar has no ice, never, go figure? No footwashing station when you come up from the beach and if you don't like wearing your sandals with lots of sand it is a long hot walk to the nearest station. Very little entertainment and no blaring music so we slept great. Bed very comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. Drive from airport longer than expected. 2 hours minimum. All in all we would go back.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Fantastic week at Tryp!
We had an excellent week at Tryp! This was our first time to Cuba and we definitely will be back. The staff at Tryp were wonderful and welcoming. The beach is beautiful with white sand and turquoise waters. Rooms were clean, staff was very attentive. The resort is in the process of renovation, lots of improvements happening. Can't wait to see it finished. We had plenty of food and drinks never ran out of anything. Overall great experience!!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Beautiful Vacay
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and stay at Iberostar Daiquiri, Guillermo Jardines Del Reyes. Expectations were absolutely met.
No food or supply shortages. Staff were all absolutely Amazing. Always smiling and genuinely wanting to help and serve you.
Our only feedback would be a better explanation of the wifi access/limits and a venue with some snacking food available 24 hours.
Outside of that again it was a fantastic stay!!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice place
The grounds are very well kept. Our room was nice and in excellent repair, the only drawback was that there was no hot water and they were unable to fix.we were there for two weeks
The alacartes were surprisingly good, well served and delicious. With our diamond club we got an extra alacarte, and so enjoyed our served breakfast every day. The buffet became monotonous quickly so we had lunch at bites or at the beach restaurants, beans cafe at the pool was really nice , try the cold coffee and ic[... read more]e cream drink and had great cappuccino.
There were a few shortages at times, eggs, rice, bread, beans, soap in the bathrooms and toilet paper.
If you go to be sure to take all your meds, snacks and a couple of rolls of toilet paper. Also small packs of Kleenex for resort washrooms which were often without any.
The lounge at the airport was disappointing. We were there for an hour had balogna on a bun and instant coffee( yes saw the girl make it ). Wasn’t, much else available but juices and beer and rum. No pastries. Two flights of stairs up,then across the airport and then 2 flights of stairs down to get to the lounge. Escalator and elevator not working, my sore knee was not happy. All and all enjoyed this resort ,but if you can,t handle the shortfalls you won,t be happy. P.s. the staff was wonderful

Melia Costa Rey: Awsome Resort!
I went with 5 other members, friends & family. We had a great time together. When we originally booked, it was known as 'The Pullman', after which, had been bought out by another company, and is now known as 'The Grand Marena '. We arrived on Thurs. April 4, (for 10 days) before 10am that morning and had to wait till after 4pm for our room, EXHAUSTING!
The hotel and rooms were slightly dated, but some of the rooms had been freshened up and made more modern. All of our rooms were done, which wa[... read more]s nice. Coffee maker didn't work in the room, for us a little disappointing but we survived. lol Bottled water was delivered daily, and 2 beer in the fridge. My room was on the 2nd floor, which was really the 3rd floor as floors are #'d 0,1,2. Amazing view from the hotel lobby, overlooking the pools and the ocean.
I hope you like kitties (I do, so didn't bother me), and chickens, with chicks, cause there's lots!! They even have a Nanny Goat!!! Awsome!
The staff, all around the resort are happy to have us there. They'd stop whatever they were doing to speak with you. Gardeners, Maids, Waiters/Waitresses, Bartenders, Front Desk staff. So, so helpful when navigating for the 1st couple of days. The bartendars were awsome! Always making suggestions for drinks we might like. Daniella, the coffee steward, always singing...beautiful!! Wait staff ready to show you to your seat, offering water and drinks. All day entertainment at the pools. In the evenings, there was always a singer in the lobby and a show later on in the night, around 9:30pm.
Some excursions have been canceled, but the good ones are still available... the catamaran, spectacular, jeep tour etc.
We had the Japenese a-la-carte, very good. (We were moved before we got the others.)
We always found plenty to eat. Breads and cheeses are amazing and offered at all meals. I had a fresh made omlett everyday. A nice variety of fresh fruits were available daily, Guava, Papya, Watermelon, Pineapple. Lots of veggies, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, tomatoes etc, & meats, Pork, Beef and Chicken but no fish. A variety of pastas with sauces. Coffee was offered in the morning but not for lunch or dinner in the buffet, no big deal, we got a cappacino at the bar afterwards mmm lol. You've got to try their
After settling in and accustomizing to the hotel & facilities, by Thurs. April 11, All guests were moved to different hotels for the duration of their holiday. The reason was because of some major renovations they were making. Although, up to then, the renos they were doing were'nt bothering anybody, but I guess they wanted to do some real hardcore renos, so, we were all moved. Too bad, so sad. My group was sent to the Gran Muthu, beautiful Lobby, nice rooms. Some staff were not as nice, and way, way too much walking up and down hills. Washrooms closest to the beach were at the snack bar, a good 10 min walk from the beach...totally unexceptable!!! At least now I know where not to go. But...
I can't wait to go back to the GRAN MARENA next year and see all the results. They were almost finished building (from scratch, amazing) two bars and a few out buildings of which I don't know what they were going to be. Curious to find out. They were painting the entire place and replacing the pool and shower tiles for the whole resort.
In other words, it'll be a whole new hotel when we go back and it was already great!!!!

Gran Muthu Rainbow Cayo Guillermo: Amazing Trip
This small resort is amazing, with Cuba the way that Cuba is, I wasn’t expecting amazing but I was so wrong. What the resort lacked in supplies they made up with their kindness and hard work to make everything as lovely as possible. The people that work at Rainbow, go above and beyond everyday for their guests. Rooms were clean, buffet always had something you could eat, and the entertainment was superb.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Terrific Vacation
Our trip to Cayo Coco, Cuba.
The resort was beautiful, rooms were big, everything was extremely clean, staff was friendly, weather was great, couldn’t ask for better.
The beach was unreal! We all were shocked by the sand and how powdery it was. Snorkeling right off the beach at the north end was phenomenal. Such a huge variety of fish to see. Had no issues with getting loungers at the beach but around the pool was a bit of a challenge.
Food was plentiful for all meals. Thought it a bit [... read more]strange that they had no breakfast in the steamers… lol I would suggest they learn how to deal with feeding 1500 people a little faster. Long waits for the snack bars so just stuck to the buffet. They don't seem to have the concept figured out on precooking food at the snack bars. As for the A la Cartes: The Mexican restaurant was our biggest complaint. They didn't serve you enough food at the meal so you need to go to the buffet after...haha. As for drinks; it was expected that they would have mostly Rum, but did find some Tequila, Vodka, and Whiskey. Coke and sprite were sporadic, so stick to the juices.
We were very fortunate to have no real issues with anything. Had to fight a bit to get the crib and a second room key which I thought to be rather annoying. The entertainment was canceled a few times and I did find it to be very disorganized like most things, but overall can not complain. We did not starve, water was slow at times but the trip by far was enjoyable.

Sanctuary White Sands: Best Beach Ever
Rooms are very spacious. Our room overlooked the beautiful landscaped property that included the large pool and view of the ocean. Buffet had ample supply of food and 6 out of 8 days we had fresh eggs for breakfast. Twice during our stay we had roasted pig (great). Cappacinos in the lobby were super. Only negatives; shortage of small (500ml) water bottles BUT you could always get 're-fillable' drinking water at the lobby bar. Your room refrigerator was NOT stocked daily with either beer or water[... read more]. Ours was stocked once during our 8 day stay. Plenty of beer and water at all bars. Cleanliness of rooms need to improve in order to attain a 4 star plus status. Electrical convertors not necessary since most outlets were 110 plus they had USB outlets in your room. Fantastic beach and no shortage of loungers. Best animation team ever especially Jimmy, Kelly and Ray who ALL worked their butts off to help you enjoy your vacation. I loved the 10.00 am beach stretching class. All staff that we encountered were amazing.
