Grand Decameron Panama: Good time and great entertainment!

Well maintained, great and friendly service. Beach was awsome drinks were good! Overall it was a fun experience for us . The shows were exceptional and the dancing was professional level. I will 100% go there again!

Grand Decameron Panama: A bit of a letdown.

The grounds were beautiful. The wait staff were very friendly. I was letdown by the conditions of the rooms and the maid service. The rooms were very tired looking (however the beds were very comfortable). We found it impossible to get a regular daily supply of clean towels and glasses. The room held two double beds yet we could not get two hand towels and two clean glasses on a regular basis. The water glasses were always wet and sitting in a little pool of water on the bathroom counter.  [... read more] I suspect there were hand washed by the maids. We kept a plastic bar glass instead of using one we didn't trust. We had to move rooms because of the noise and the first time we flushed the toilet the handle came off. This was later in the evening and it took three calls to the lobby to get it fixed. The resort was beautiful on the outside and the majority of the staff friendly. I did not however, enjoy dealing with anyone in the lobby.

Grand Decameron Panama: amazing resort is right...

Hello there: We just got back from the Royal Decameron jan. 22-29 and what a good week we had, the room, the food and service, the drinks, pools, weather and the beach were outstanding, what more can you ask for. the people that go down to pick the place apart are the people that can find 7 things wrong with a rain-bow and should stay home, there is no place that is perfect just go down with a open mind and you will have a wonderful time like us. clean and well taken care of nice staff awesome beach bar tenders go out of there way to make a good drink one played in a band at night good player food was good anywhere you went the transit reps where more then helpful would go back again any time

Grand Decameron Panama: Beautiful Resort

The rooms were simple but very clean. The grounds are beautiful and kept immaculate. Very nicely landscaped. The food was good except the beef is tough. A large variety of fruit and vegetables. Even though the staff knew very little English we were able to communicate our needs.

Grand Decameron Panama: Great Resort

The hotel property was clean and tidy however A little disappointed in the cleanliness of our room. The staff of the resort were friendly and helpful There were several forms we were asked to fill out at various restaurants and venues throughout our stay recommending and commenting on services. Not sure why we were asked to complete so many?

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Always Terrific

The RDC is consistently terrific and an all round solid resort experience. From the rooms, food, drinks, entertainment, staff, pools, beach and village of Bucerias, there are few resorts in Mexico that do all of these things as well as the RDC.

Grand Decameron Cornwall Beach: Great pick

We really enjoyed the new clean facilities. Everything was close and convenient. Beautiful time...Big thank you to Janeesha the best waitress in Montego bay.Nice staff and activities..food was plentiful but not outstanding..overall amazing time will go again...not crowded..just right..close to airport....ya mon!!!!

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Not a great resort

This was our second year at the Decameron and it was not as good as the first time. The food was not great but the staff were great. We saw a man die on the beach and the life guard tried so very hard to revive him but unfortunately it was to late. I did not see any management there to help his wife and other than the life guard there was only a guest giving mouth to mouth. I would have thought the resort would have had a defibrillator and there would have been a plan in place for such an event. [... read more] I would not want anything happening to me at that resort.

Grand Decameron Panama: BIG RESORT

The resort is big perfect for family.The down side of the experience is the quality of the rooms. Many walls have holes and need painting, the shower curtain and shower tiles have mold.. Overall a very poor maintenance of the rooms. Also for something as basic as safe boxes...they charge you for them.... After I got back home, I noticed many bites on my legs. The resort has many restaurants and bars.Food was ok.The beach is nice.The swimming is amazing with clear water and sandy bottom - lots o [... read more]f unique and colorful shells to collect. Entertainment could use some work. The entertainment at the main amphitheatre seemed repetitive and lacking in imagination to us. It was basically all done in Spanish. Service ok ,but you have to ask all the time if you need coffee or water. We did a few excursions. All excursions were booked through the resort, and all were good. Transnet service excellent -Jacques was friendly and helpful I WILL GIVE THIS RESORT 3+

Grand Decameron Montego Beach: Hotel needs renovation

Rooms were horrible. Tiles falling out the wall. Cable did not work. Water shuts off while taking a shower. Toilet does not flush. Water leaking.. overall room maintenance was nasty.... extremely disappointed and turned off from the rust and mold in corners and bathroom

Grand Decameron Panama: I would put it at better than good, but, not excellent

At the Lobby One end of the resort, there is an 89 step sequence of stairways which was exhausting to climb for an 84 year old guy. Food was but good. Seems A La Carte is really Buffet. "Baby Beef" & another two A La Carte Steaks were not tender. They need a few electric golf carts to facilitate movement from one end to the other of this very wide resort. Pools were great In-room fridge was empty - no soft drinks, nor beer, which is part of the All-Inclusive deal

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Consistently great!

I have several reviews on this resort. This is our 4th time back and will not be the last. In fact most of the folks there have been there far more than we have. Which really speaks to this location and hotel. We booked with Air Transat. We were happy with the size of plane and their customer service. As far as our expectation on a trip, we look for a nice beach, quiet area for mature adults, variety of food, and a clean hotel. We are seniors so our needs are not grand. This trip seem [... read more]ed to have more of the senior crowd. Not many younger adults, might not be the party place for them. This trip we returned for two weeks and were not disappointed. The hotel continues to be consistent. Very clean, same staff as the last few years which are truly courteous and work hard to please. The location is ideal for the adventurous folk as it is a short bus ride to several smaller towns and an interesting bus ride into the PV. They just upgraded the A/C in the rooms as well. The grounds are well cared for, everyday you can see the garden people trimming and caring for the property. When walking around the pools watch for the hummingbirds they are usually feeding on the flowers on the hedges. Iguana’s are all around the grounds, some very large ones and if you look up you can see them in the trees. This year they were a bit more active, and several were spoted fighting and some even fell into the pool. Staff were quick to respond and lift them out. The hotel is on a beautiful beach where you can walk for miles. They have lots of pools to choose from. There is a party area with games and such. We did not check that out this trip. It is never necessary to get up early to save a spot on the beach or at the pool. They discourage it but don’t seem to enforce it. We never had an issue finding a place to hang out. You do get a beach towel on check in; if you lose it you will be charged a fee. We heard a few folks complain that someone stole their towel and they were stuck with having to pay for one. Bring your own drinking cup, insulated works well for morning coffee and through the day drinks. Coffee is not available in the rooms but easy to get some fresh coffee at the bars. If you want Baileys bring your own they don’t really have that flavour in Mexico. The Buffets have theme nights so best to check them all out, BBQ night was really good and 70’s night was cool too with wings, burgers and such. Two buffets to choose from with different themes at each of them. Best to pay everything in peso even the tips. It is good to tip to show your appreciation; it does go into the general pot and shared with all the staff. Even when your trip does say gratuities are included we still tipped from time to time. You can get money at a better rate than the hotel up the hill with your bank card. Any purchases you make you get a better deal if you pay in peso’s. Get outside the resort it is safe and interesting to experience the Mexican culture. Try some of the local food carts in town and some of restaurants. Popular places are Fat Boys, Drunken Duck, Karen’s which is really short walk on the beach from the resort. They offer happy hour on the beach and a lot of folks go there in the afternoon. Sit up high so you are not bothered by the vendors. Lots of other fun places to explore. Wednesday afternoon they have a market in Bucerias with higher end items. Or you can go to La Cruz on Sunday for the big market. Lots of samples of local fare. fun market. At the end of the main road is the tourist market. Those with mobility might find it challenging to walk on the cobblestone road. Take your time and enjoy or walk on the beach to the market. Just about anything you want will be offered. Beware you need to barter your best price, except at the local market on Sunday those are set prices and really only set up for the locals. Massages are offered everywhere and also the fish pedicure. We have has massages in town in town and on beach, we think that the beach ones are a bit better. Average price is about $20 cdn. or about 250 to 300 peso. The hotel does offer massages but not sure about what the cost is with them. Activities – they offer bikes to ride around town, which we did every day. They have tennis court, soccer field, and basketball. For water, they have kayaks and take the sailboat out from time to time depending on the weather. They do offer boggie boards for some surf time. This trip the water was ok to play in and did not toss you around as much as it had in past trips. You should bring water shoes as there lot of stingrays in the bay and a few folks were stung. On this trip we did not really deal with too many bugs, the hotel does spray each month which make the grounds and your room comfortable and you can sit outside in the evening comfortably. Things they can improve on: The beds are firm and could be better. The pillows are really hard and I will be bringing my own for my next trip. They could offer a few more options on water activities, such as stand up paddleboards. And would be nice if they added a mini golf. Easy activity in the hot sun. Wifi is only available in the common areas. For us once a day is fine with us as we are on vacation, we feel we should be disconnected. We heard that they are slowing adding to each building wifi access. Now for our big issue: The hotel safe is not included and you have to pay 50P a day. Expensive for two weeks, if we did not have peso they asked us for $65 cdn. Luckily we had peso so worked out less. In our opinion it is not worth the risk to leave your passport and money out, even with the good security in the resort. So you have to pay. The lounge chairs are uncomfortable if you plan to read or lounge around for a longer time period. Bring a floater from the dollar store or you can usually get one from someone that is leaving, or you can purchase up the road for a few dollars. Highly recommend to get one. It would be nice if they added some chips and salsa or some type of snack in the bars. We were not keen to attend the evening show as it is late and we have already seen them. We much prefer to hang at the beach bar. Having a few chips or nuts would much improve the bar experience. We really like the location of this hotel and we will be back next year.

Grand Decameron Panama: Another great time at the Royal Decameron in Panama!!

I love this resort!! We came back after 7 years and I can see a few updates in that time. The grounds are clean and well kept, rooms are perfect size and well laid out, we had beach front on the 3rd floor and was close to everything. Luckily the bathroom window is small because they don't lock. There are a lot of hills and steps at this resort but it keeps you moving after having a great meal at any of the restaurants. The food was great, sometimes a little on the warm side, not really hot. Th [... read more]ey seem to hide the bacon in the morning for breakfast, but you just have to ask for it. I wish staff were on the floor for the buffets to watch the portions that people took and to catch people that litterly took all the food off the serving plate. Some people have no concept of sharing or waiting their turn in line. if staff were watching, maybe then people wouldn't take as much. I saw a lot of wasted food. The bars were great, lots of local drinks to choose from. We only stayed a week this time, but next time I'm hoping to stay longer. I would recommend this resort to anyone!!

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: A quick get a way

This hotel is quite a drive North of Puerto Vallarta, just so you are aware. The hotel grounds, buildings, pools and rooms were very clean! The beach was wonderful. It is a fairly big resort at the end of the town Rincón de Guayabitos, which a lovely Mexican town for wandering, shopping and eating local authentic Mexican Street food. The beach is amazing for walking and end to end is Just short of 3k. Breakfast and lunches in the buffet were great, at times dinner was questionable. The snack ba [... read more]r had pizza, hamburgers and hot dogs and all the fixings as well as a few other items.There is one building on the hillside that boasts adult only pool, it may be quieter at this location but there are many stairs and quite a walk to the buffet and beach. We would definitely return to this resort if the price is right.

Grand Decameron Panama: Exceeded our Expectations

My wife and I stayed at the Royal Decameron from January 4, 2018 thru January 15th. I had read all the Trip Advisor reviews and had a few concerns but I was anxious to visit Panama and selected the Royal Decameron over the Riu and Blue Bay Coronado. WOW we made the right choice!! We are frequent travellers with a diverse experience base so I am providing what I hope is a fair objective review. I think this resort is a strong 4 *. I have had larger and smaller buffets and some better food / some worse but quit frankly if you can not make a nice meal out of the buffets or a la carte, you are not trying. A la cartes really same thoughts with good variety and choices. We had some chicken/ beef/ pork/ fish that was amazing, flavourable, suited our pallet and some we did not enjoy as much.. The same can be said for many of the dishes. Please keep in mind this is a Panamanian resort cooking for Canadians, Columbians, Panamanians, French, Italian, Polish, Hungarian, American, Bulgarians and many others....... many different pallets to please. You are away in a vastly different culture so try new things some you will like and some maybe not so much. Usually, a pasta bar on the go, fresh grilled meats and/or fish, so always a selection. We had very good service in all of the restaurants. We had excellent service and drinks at all the bars. We visited every bar and restaurant at the resort and we have no complaints. Good service, alcohol, variety of specialty drinks etc... We got to know some of the bar tenders toooo well but made some friends and shared some laughs. 2) Rooms are nice and grounds are clean and beautiful. The beds in our room were excellent, The air conditioner worked very well and quiet. The cleaning service was consistent and very good. 3) All buildings were in good condition and clean. Always staff around cleaning and picking up after the clientele. Front desk staff always helpful super quick and easy check in and check out. Hassle free. 4) Entertainment could use some work. The entertainment at the main amphitheatre seemed repetitive and lacking in imagination to us. I have to comment the Spanish people seemed to enjoy it more than the Canadians and non-Spanish. It was basically all done in Spanish lots of yelling by MC. They should copy what many resorts do and present some variety with musical imitators, dance extravaganzas etc.. We did find and enjoy their small house band that played at a variety of venues/ bars on the resort. Once we found this entertainment we did not return to main theatre. You might want to walk down to Nicos Beach Bar(formerly Woody's) just off the resort, excellent food and drinks. The new Italian owners Fillipa/ wife and Daseo the chef are fun and very hospitable. Good rock and roll band Friday nite for sure and maybe Saturday. We danced up a storm and met some very nice ex pats there. 5) The bellboy staff managed by Renee is excellent, well run and the best we have experienced in some time. Courteous and professional..... dropped off and picked up bags on time etc... 6) Golf course is a great value. Tough enough course and was in very good condition when I played a few rounds. Some tight, some forgiving and can be played to over 7,000 yds. if you want. Greens were quite good. Appeared to have a decent gym...I walked by it many times.. Casino is very small but acceptable with black jack, roulette and slots. 7) Panamanian people are (bonita) beautiful. Quite friendly and good service.....but please remember you are in their country you have to make an effort as well. We try to speak Spanish as much as we can and the effort is always appreciated. We are not very good at espanol .... but we try.....LOL We rented a car and went off resort and visited many places that do not see tourists as regularly. Everywhere we went the Panamanian people were friendly and good to us. 8) If you have physical challenges this resort has many stairs from beach level to the upper level so it could be a challenge. There are a couple of roads up and down so it is doable with a wheelchair etc.. 9) I would like to thank the Trip Central team specially Laura Mulvihill-Spry who handled all our matters and requests in her very professional manner. In summary, I think this is a good 4 to 4 1/2 * resort. We are already planning to return with some other friends and family. Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great resort

We just returned from a great vacation at Royal Decameron. We stayed in block 1 with beach front fantastic view. There was not one thing to complain about, great friendly staff, good food and lots of choice. Hotel was a little old but well kept and clean every where. The beach was clean with all kinds of lounges every where ,never had to wait for a free lounge. The bar keeps were all very nice and always made what ever you like with a smile. Decameron Baru Beach Resort and Spa: Beautiful

This Hotel was absolutely amazing. The grounds were like paradise with beautiful flowers, palm trees and wild parrots flying around. The beach was clean and well kept. The rooms were spacious and fresh with lots of bright colors. The food was fantastic. There was always something to eat for everyone. I always felt safe and relaxed.
