Occidental Arenas Blancas: A fantastic experience!
The grounds were beautiful, the common areas clean and airy, the food did not try to the North American "fast-food" palate. The staff were friendly and very professional. The beach was beautiful and clean!
Club Amigo Ancon: Good resort for the price
My second time at Club Amigo Ancon. If you know what to expect you'll have a fine time. This is a 2 star resort but I loved every minute of it. While the hotel itself is a bit outdated the staff are mostly quite nice, made some good friends with many of them throughout the week there. The resort has 2 sides, the older soviet style block and the newer smaller 3 story building. Well worth the extra few dollars to stay in the newer "Tropical" rooms, more secluded, newer beds and pillows and nice ai [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: OK resort
the grounds was well maintained and clean. the bathroom was not clean did not expect to have to wear flip flops to stand in the tub to have a shower! the food was not what you would expect from a 4star when food is left in what was ice cubes turned to warm water and a lack of serving utensils spoons being used from hot to cold foods causing bacteria from cross contamination and butter left in warm water that turned greenmold is the way to make people sick! myself included and I was very careful [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Sun, Sand, Water!
The resort is older but still covered all my needs. The layout was good and location great. Just walk out of the hotel for day and night life. Pool was clean and grounds were well maintained. Staff I met were friendly and many spoke fluent English. Ocean and beach are beautiful!
Roc Barlovento: amazing
everything was great.freindly staff.the only thing missing was a bar closer to the beach.hotdogs and hamburgers at the beach for lunch would make more sense instead of a big buffet. having been to Cuba 7 time. i would definitely say i would want to go back again.
Roc Barlovento: resort was under complete construction
resort was under complete construction but the future looks promising the newly done rooms are far better because of the heavy rains we had it made it akward to get around especial to the eating area because main dining room was closed
Hotel Villa Cuba: DONT BOOK HOLA SUN
Flight was 2 hours delayed outbound no big deal arrived at hotel at 12 AM home flight was scheduled to leave at 10 45 PM However to save money Hola sun moves everyones flight to 11AM Guests now leave hotel at 7 am meaning 6 beach days Not 7 as wanted
Hotel Villa Cuba: Great Stay! A solid 3 1/2 stars.
The extra half star is for the service. The hotel is dated but the staff were great. We had a room in the second building which is closer to the beach, and we had a partial ocean view from our 2nd floor balcony. The 2 a-la-cart restaurants were ok.( you don't go to Cuba for the food).
Club Kawama: Was upgraded to a different resort
The new place was the Villa Cuba. Room, food , grounds were excellent and so was the service. Looking forward to going back. My only issue was with Air Canada as usual. We arrived back in Toronto at 1:45 am in the morning. Barely a person in the airport and had to wait for an hour for our luggage.
Occidental Arenas Blancas: love this place ; like a second home
I've been to th resort many times. I always look forward to seeing the staff and especially think the reception is incredible. I want to thank all of the staff for making every visit an enjoyable experience
Club Karey: Extremely uncomfortable
I'd discourage staying at Club Karay. It is poorly serviced, dirty, uneatable food, and dated. I traveled throughout Cuba on this trip to get a sense of the what's out there; this is not a suitable resort to vacation to. It is simple deplorable.
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great beach
Rooms are ok. Had to change rooms on the first night but had no problem doing it. The first room was flooded with water. Beaches are perfect! The nightly shows were average I guess but you always have two choices since the Arena Blancas and the Solymar are connected. Biggest issue there was the staff. They were not helpful at all they didn't even offer suggestions when asked them for something. Just a straight no. Some of the staff (maybe two). Were pretty decent. It just felt like we were treat [... read more]
Occidental Arenas Blancas: No air conditionning for the week
I so regret making this choice of resort. I will so not go back to this place. There was not air conditionning for the week and were told all kinds of bad excuses for not having it. We were stalked by a cuban for things. He told us it would take 20 min. for me to go to my room. I asked a security guard and were told it was normal. I was afraid so i gave him what he wanted !!. We couldn't get what was on the menu, couldn't get rhum drinks until 3:00, was refused entry to our reservation because w [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: Declining quality year after year..
--great pool, great beach, rooms needed improvement (we were in a villa and the rooms in the hotel were MUCH better, locations was great (ten minute walk to varadero, the food was quite gross (I could only eat a select few things per day)
Hotel Villa Cuba: amazing
the hotel is big and it is located right on the beach, they have clean towels and water sports are nice! Workers are very friendly. The air conditioner is too loud. The drinks are nice. Food is good. You can see stars at night on the beach which is amazing! Love this place! It's my first time to Cuba! Great memories!
Occidental Arenas Blancas: Great service
Everything was amazig food sucks pools are great beach is beautiful locals are verry nice , havana club is close by and its a great place to party 10$ cover but drinks are only 2$ and cant forget on resort beer is amazing
Hotel Villa Cuba: Would definitely go back
Very old hotel, but clean. Employees are amazing. WONDERFUL waiters and bartenders: Corzo, Libia, Jorge, Angela, Carlos -Umberto and Alex, just to name a few. Beach is fantastic! Lifeguards and security are the best! Don't listen to negative comments, tourists are just miserable. Can't wait to go back.
Club Kawama: Didn`t have my guest reservation from Air canada,
I had to pay 65cuc 1st nite and had no more dinero so mi novia had to go back to Cienfuegos. No coffee in room for coffee maker. ask 4 times, got none. Room was far from cafeteria but good. I blame Air canada for the screw-up. I`ve stayed here many many times before and will again.
Club Amigo Ancon: Not what I have experienced before at this hotel
====================================== Review from latest trip to Club Amigo Ancon (June 7-14, 2015): (I can't rate this stay as more than 2.5-stars. As a frequent vistor, it was disappointing! Better in January - April.) 1. At this time, the hotel is undergoing their Summer Maintenance (as expected). 2. As a "senior", I was given a room on the 3rd floor - the highest - while younger people had rooms on the main floor. Since there is no elevator, it meant that I needed to climb 3 flights of stai [... read more]
Hotel Villa Cuba: Completely Underrated
Apart from the weather I absolutely loved our trip to Villa Cuba. This resort may have a few years on it but what is inspiring is that they keep doing maintenance on it to make sure people enjoy their stay. The service at the resort was fantastic and the food quality was one of the best I have ever experienced. When I travel to a resort the one thing I am very picky about is the beach and this one didn't disappoint. The hotel staff is incredibly welcoming and accommodating. The room was in decen [... read more]
