Punta Peninsula Varadero: A Jewel

I have stayed at several resorts in the Varadero area and without a doubt this spot is one of the best. Resort has great selection of food, nightlife and gorgeous beach. Its location is central to the town . If your a cigar smoker like myself ! Your at home.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great resort

Grounds were very clean, huge, and especially the staff, they gave great attention and also the maid for our room was excellent. Staff in the buffet lounge was very attentive to our wishes and it was very clean.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Beautiful Resort, great beach but food is poor!

Grounds were beautiful,and the beach was awesome. We had a spectacular beach view from our room! The room's decor could stand to be refreshed, but for the most part it was fine The thing we noticed is that seems to be an issue with ground flooding in various areas throughout the resort. Public areas were clean although the public washrooms had toilets that remained out of service the entire week. The food was adequate, my wife became very sick on the 3rd day, and had to seek medical attention, s [... read more]ince we had only eaten on the resort, we felt it was something she ate at the buffet. A side note, make sure you take extra cash as all Dr's visits and medications have to be paid in cash only- no credit cards accepted, so prepare for the unexpected. All in all, we did have a good vacation (sickness aside) but won't return to this resort again . I wouldn't recommend this resort as the variety of foods was limited and after getting sick, you lose confidence in what you are eating.

Blau Varadero: Really nice resort

Overall great trip beach, pools, grounds and location were all really amazing. Rooms and food not so much but still didn't ruin the trip it's was still amazing. The hotel was beautiful in the lobby area especially. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: good resort

truly enjoyed my stay at the resort. Upgraded to unit 27 which was very quiet and worth the money. Upgrade included a private pool which was nice. The only draw back is that the adult section of the pool has more kids than adults. The beach itself was very relaxing and the snorkeling at the beach was remarkable with lots of fish to see. The food was good and salads where excellent.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Little bit pricey but a great time

The resort is fairly new and very friendly. The staff was simply wonderful except for the rude ladies in the a la cart restourants. Trust me it is not worth the wait. The amount of food and the service is lacking. We are very picky with food and we were happily suprized with the selection and the quality. Rooms were clean, good tv channels plenty the space and washroom was lovely. Fridge was restocked every day! The food at the snack bar was the worst don't eat the hotdogs but the ham and cheese was ok. Beach was simply perfect and so was the water. We are not pool Lovers although the pools were a good size and great swim up bar with awesome staff. We own a pool so we look forward to the ocean.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Very Nice

The staff is amazing. Very friendly They where great with my kids We loved the nice clean beach and all the activities. The paddle boat was great fun . Service in the buffet was very good Rooms where clean and comfortable Loved the sport pool , accept for the slide that was closed most of the the time .

Blau Varadero: Amazing Stay at Blau Varadero

We've stayed for one week at Blau and enjoyed every minute of it. Hotel staff are all extremely friendly and go beyond service to assist customers. Food was lovely not only in restaurants but buffet was fantastic as well. We also enjoyed the night entertainments. I was there with my husband and my daughter and we all had fabulous time together. I would definitely go back to Blau next time.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Not recommended

I personally would not recommend this resort unless one doesn't care about anything but to go and drink. Food was quite blend and plates were dirty so it was very difficult to eat it. If you don't eat much bread you will here because that was the only food that seem safe to eat. People were friendly and that was the best part. Spend couple of more $ and go somewhere else.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great location!

The Blau Coste Verde is on a beautiful beach, but the resort is veeeerrrrry tired (at least the old part). Our shower spewed water out in all directions, making it necessary to mop up afterward. Curtains were falling off the rod, etc. That said, we always found something we wanted to eat. The pool was nice and the beach was absolutely beautiful. We were there for sun and sand, so it worked just fine for us.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Great Resort

Clean well maintained buildings. Enjoyed the food. Friendly accommodating staff. Took a few days to arrange the in room coffee that was promised and we wished we'd taken bug spray to the beach. Overall great vacation and we plan to go back

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Pretty much what you expect in Cuba

Resort was pretty much standard Cuban experience. A bit dated but we don't go for the rooms. The main frustrating thing for me was having a hot shower...hit and miss no matter what time you tried. Beach is very large and lots of chairs so you don't have to be reserving which was nice. Food was fine - Cuban cuisine 101...you won't go hungry but don't expect a 4 or 5 star meal. It really is too bad that management would not address some of the infrastructure things at the hotel (hot water for exam [... read more]ple, towel availability) as this place has the potential to be more. Having said all of this, we go for the sun and there was plenty so all is well.

Blau Varadero: Excellent Resort for a great Vacation

My husband and I have vacationed at the Blau Varadero for the last 6 to 7 years. we are often joint by family and friends as well.The resort is clean and beautiful, and nicely laid out. The staff is just superlative and very friendly. The food is always good with a variety for many tastes.We'll certainlly will be back and can recommend it to others. Valerie Holst

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Definitly not any more than a two star resort.

1. The resort was on the lowest part of the peninsula, so the mosquitos and no-see-ums were terrible. 2. When we arrived they put our luggage in a hallway and said it would be safe there, when we came back to collect it our comfort kits, given to us by Canjet, were gone. 3. We waited 20 minutes in a lineup for breakfast one morning, then another 15 minutes for dishes, and the food was always cold because the plates weren't heated. 4. They kept running out of towels for the pool. 5. Half of the w [... read more]ashrooms in the public areas didn't have toilet seats or had no tissue. 6. The drinks weren't uniform from one bar to the next and they kept running out of ice and straws. 7. Dirty dishes were left on the second floor of our unit for a week, we watched a worker sweep around them, they were removed after I showed a picture of them to the front desk. 8.Only two of the stage shows were worth watching, the one in the pool you couldn't see because of the lighting. The best part of our trip was Canjet airlines, we paid extra for VIP treatment as we always do, and it was the best we've had. The trips into Havana and Varadaro were also excellent. The workers at the resort always did their best to accommodate us considering their limited resources, so we blame management for any problems we encountered.

Blau Varadero: pretty good time

room service was excellent, food was pretty good, resort itself was very nice. employee's were very helpful and went out of their way to help with our needs. good of used more activities like the archery and darts.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great staff, great rooms!

We initially stayed in the older section of the hotel (Block 1), however, our room was quite dark, the air conditioning was broken (perpetually freezing in the room) and the bathtub (no shower) wouldn't drain. The older part of the hotel showed signs of being old; there was rust everywhere and the door had problems locking (key card didn't always want to work). We upgraded to the PLUS section on the 2nd day, which costed us 10 pesos per person per night. This was 100% worth it. The plus section  [... read more]has new rooms, which were brightly lit. The A/C can be controlled via a digital box, which made it accurate, and the washroom had a shower. We also very much enjoyed having an exclusive pool to ourselves, since it meant we didn't have to rush first thing in the morning and try to reserve chairs. There were always chairs available, even at 2 in the afternoon! The exclusive pool was definitely a highlight; it has a swim-up bar, and a deep section as well as a shallower section. The majority of people that used the pool were adults; however, there were quite a few kids in the shallower section. The beach isn't the best that I've seen -- there is quite a few rocks along the edge, which can make it more difficult to enjoy a walk, and the beach isn't that long either. The water sports are quite good though; we very much enjoyed going pedal-boating. The sports offered are also very good. The activity staff are very welcoming, kind and enthusiastic about their jobs. There are also evening programs, which we went to almost every night -- it always started with the kids program (even though we don't have kids, we enjoyed it a lot!) and then went into a show. There were some shows that contained quite a lot of "adult" content -- so perhaps not the greatest for families to be attending. The shows ranged from dance to plays to water ballet to music. There was a wide variety. One of the great benefits to upgrading to PLUS was that we got access to the better a la carte restaurants. Out of the restaurants that were there, we tried the Cuban restaurant, (open to all guests) which had amazing food. Probably some of the best chicken I've ever eaten. We also went to the Italian restaurant (again, open to all guests) which was okay, quality wise. The PLUS restaurant that we went to was the Spanish restaurant, and the food there was fantastic, as was the service. We unfortunately didn't try the PLUS gourmet restaurant, although I heard from a lot of people that it was the best restaurant at the hotel. Finally, we got a lobster dinner (as part of the PLUS package), which was again, just okay. It wasn't anything outstanding. The regular buffet restaurants are decent. Each morning, we had an omelet, which we could add a bunch of ingredients to, so that was a great option for us. Lunch consisted of usually burgers, pasta, some veggies...it wasn't that memorable. The dinners were okay, there was usually a variety of things to pick from, but again, it wasn't anything memorable. Overall, the service we received was great. The employees seem to enjoy their jobs, and we were able to resolve any issues we had fairly quickly. The only problem I encountered was as we were leaving, I requested for a bellhop to come by our room and pick us up to drive us to the front entrance, since our suitcases were quite heavy. I waited for 45 minutes (the front desk said 15 minutes and he'd be there) and then gave up and just lugged everything to the front desk. But that wasn't such a huge issue. The weather left something to be desired (4 days of rain out of our 7 day vacation) but that's beyond the control of the hotel, and they did their best for us to enjoy our vacation anyway. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I will probably be returning (although I will be immediately purchasing an PLUS package, rather than a regular package).

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Best bang for the buck

We stayed March 26-29 2014. Weather was amazing! Food was mediocre at best...but you don't go to eat, you go for the beach, which was incredible. NO beach vendors, no timeshare pushers etc. The pool with the swim up bar was painted in water based paint though, so, the paint would come off on our skin...but it washed off no problem. The fact that the pools are salt water is nice, easier on the skin, hair and swimsuits. The staff was pleasant, the room was a bit damp, but clean, bright , large...e [... read more]ven spacious....and a few pesos will get you a huge bottle of water and extra towels and pillows. The resort is large , so if you want to see it all, prepare to walk. They also have cappuccinos at 2 or more of the bars. The nightly entertainment was weak, not like mexico or Jamaica...but the atmosphere of the entire place was more calm and quiet, so it was a very relaxing vacation.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Greatest stay ever!!!!

Friendly, clean, safe, delicious, THE BEST!!!!! The staff were all so helpful and the grounds were well manicured. We are world class travelers and this was one of our most enjoyable stays. Second time for us in 10 years.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Nice Getaway

The dining room was clean and the food was good. The beach was a little rocky, suggest bringing watershoes. The service was good and the entertainment above average, something different every night. There are activities everyday for those who wish to participate and if you need to get out of the sun there are plenty of shaded areas.

Muthu Colonial Hotel: Nice resort for the money

Nicely appointed. Good size with friendly staff. Always something to do. beach is very nice, clean, turquoise water, and the warm sun, couldnt ask for more. The resort itself is nicely laid out with easy access to amenities.
